Can't locate my Storage Card - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Windows Mobile 2005 Upgrading

Help!... I upgraded my XDAII 2003se to: first - WM2k5 2.03a00 WWE yesterday and today I flashed it to WM2k5 2.03a64 WWE. In both versions, it can't locate my storage card. I checked the "Memory" and it only says:
Storage = 30.53 MB
Program = 56.34 MB
RAM Disk = 63.95 MB
Open WM5Storage apps, it says "Status: Can't open card". In the 2.03a00 version, i check the storage card memory and it says "total storage card memory: not installed".
I was able to back-up my storage card before upgrading to 2.03a00 yesterday, so i know that the slot and the card are working.
In both upgraded versions, Radio version = 1.18.00
Protocol version 1337.38. Will this matter?
Thanks for the help, guys.

The same thing happens to me sometimes. My SDCard just disappears. I take it out, reinsert it, soft reset and it comes back. This happens both in 2.01 and 2.03 roms.

Just a suggestion...
1. Reflash your ROM. This time, make sure you format your ram after flashing.
2. You could also try to do a hard reset. (CAM, REC and soft reset buttons) select no then, yes, and yes.
I've installed my XDA II 3 times already using the same ROM version with different RAMDISK sizes and it never happens to me.
Where did you download your installation file?

Guys, I've already solved my problem. Reformat the card and it works. Appreciate your help a lot.

"total storage card memory: not installed".
instead of reformatting the micro sd, the whole purpose of the micro sd card not showing or asking that is not installed, is because you might have a password fitted on your micro sd, remove the password ,ive tried it and it worked.

Wizard uses FAT16 or FAT32 ?

My friend just got TOPRAM 2GB miniSD and we try to setup his Wizard.
When I want to format (using card reader) this miniSD, should I choose FAT or FAT32 ?
Also is it possible to format card in Wizard itself and how ?
Thanks

software to format your card in your wizard
You can also access your storage card thru my computer. it will show up as a device with removable storage. use wm5torage.
You can use either FAT or FAT32, it doesn't matter. The wizard can read both of them. I always format my cards in a card reader because wizards sometimes have a problem seeing unformatted cards and you wont be able to access your card at all. To format format the card I always go through disk management in computer management under administrative tools in the control panel. If I remember right, if you just right click on the card in the card reader and then click on format it only gives you the option of FAT where disk management will give you the FAT32 option as well.
The reason I was asking is because I was able to format miniSD in card reader both FAT and FAT32 and put some data (CABs) to it using "My Computer", but ... when I try to install some CABs from that miniSD ... it just hangs.
So I was thinking ... may be it is because of wrong format. Now I believe that problem is in miniSD itself, because I was able to install same CABs from my other card.
You might try reformatting in FAT and see how that works. I've tried both on mine and there never seems to be much of a noticable difference. I've read that it might make a difference on older ROM versions. It deffinitely can't hurt anything to convert it to FAT and try again before giving up on the card.
I tried both FAT and FAT32 on BOTH cards. They all failed, both in very strange way ... I was able to read/write to the card using "My Computer". I was able to see files using Wizard "Explorer", but when I click CAB installation will start and then hang. Or one CAB will install, but second will hang.
Unpredictable
Both cards are miniSD 2GB from TopRam, from eBay power seller.
I'm not sure what you mean. Are you putting the cab files on your card and then installing them from there or are you putting the cab files in the \windows\start menu\programs and and then when they install you're choosing to have them install to the card and then they are failing? If it's the first one I mentioned, that might be the problem right there. I'm not so sure that SD cards are really made to be read from and written to at the same time and putting the cab files in the \windows\start menu\programs folder and installig from there would solve that issue. If it's the second one I mentioned, it might just be the programs that you're installing. I've had issues with several programs that when I tried to install them to my card they hung up and ended up actually corrupting my card. The fact that you have 2 cards doing the exact same thing makes me think that it may not be the cards that are at fault.

Im just guessing that you are using a ROM which uses mUn's latest 5.2.1413 as base. If that is the case, heres what i reccomend. Go back to a previous ROM which maybe uses mUn's previous release or farias rom as a base.
Why u ask? I have noticed that with ROM ver .1413, i either lose or see corrupt info on the SD card which on first boot is readable for a few minutes/seconds, but after i change the OS to say core 2.0 fior example, everything is back to normal on my SDcard.
I noticed this because just as u, i was trying to install some cabs off the card, the first was successful and the others just did nothing, on closer scrutiniy (tried playing songs stored on SD) i noticed that some files were missing and others corrupt.
just my advice, hope it works for u...
P.S. Everything was back to normal (all info was fine on SD) after going back to a previous version of OS

WM6 Roms won't detect Storage Card

Hi there..
I have a Problem, with the WM6 roms.. I tried TNT and XDA, but they don't detect my miniSD Card.
This always worked with the Original Orange Switzerland ROM..
What could cause this problem and how can I resolve it?
what process did you use to upgrade your wizard to wm6?
I followed the following instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435
First I installed the T-Mobile 2.26 and upgraded to 3.08..
did you remove your card before flashing?

Not 100% sure, but I think so ;-)
hhmm.. because i know, there are issues regarding upgrades killing the memory card..
did you apply the paradis change pagepool via activesync?
Well I tried two different storage cards, so it can't be the card itself..
What is a paradis change pagepool?
it's a program to change your pagepool (memory cache allocation).. don't mind.
you mean 2 different cards don't work? hhmm.. now i'm baffled.. have you tried performing a hard reset yet?
hmm, no.. But I tried now.. No difference..
I will try to reinstall my operators ROM..
Are you using File Explorer / My Device and not finding the card?
If so, touch My Device for the drop down menu, then click on the card as it should show there. Once you actually go to it, it should show in the My Device screen like all the other folders.
I've had this happen to me a few times with some of the newer Mobile 6 roms and this has always worked for me.
Good luck.
My Qtek 9100 won´t detect my storege card after upgrading to WM6 (release 3). What do you mean by "drop down menu"? I´m completely new with WM6...
just try inserting it a few times. i have had to do that with my both my devices with wm5 and wm6.
Well, it detects my storage card again:
I reinstalled the official Orange Switzerland Rom and did the whole downgrading and unlocking procedure again.. But it was worth it )
@ LongKong
did you search for your problem?
you may have found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1432665&postcount=15
I have the same issue ... I made a compatibility test with the ROMs - with some I don't have any problem with others it had.
Any ROMs after TNT5 I tested did not work out so I sticked to TNT5 so far.
You may have a try and can confirm. I did not test the most recent ROMs as I currently use another device most of the time.
Cheers!
Storage card problem
Hello i have the same problem with my wizzard. 2Gb Lexar micro SD doesn't work, but it had worked before. When i insert it in other smartphone WORKS.
I also have other 256Mb card that works in my wizzard!!
Any explanation?
rom version 6.1.0.0
rom date 1/26/08
radio version 01.12.10
protocol version 4.0.13.23
it may be hardware-related, not software. after i took out the memory card when i inserted it back it wasn't showing in file explorer but after a while i found that i have to insert it, hold it for a few seconds in and then release it. I thought about a rom issue but it wasn't that after all.
hope is usefull for you guys also

Just insert it a few times. It is a hardware issue with the memory card slot. I had this problem ALL the time.

Application freezes/hangs when reading Storage Card on WM6.1

Hi all
Sorry for my poor English
I have tried three to four WM6.1 Rom on my HTC TYTNII, whenever an application try to read the storage card, it hangs, but any other application installed on device working fine,
also tried to exchange the SD card with my friends TYTNII,
both my and his card working on his device
both my and his card hangs on my device
however, if I flash a WM6.0 Rom, this issue doesn't exist, did anyone meet this or only me ???
BTW,
the card is a SanDisk 8G
3.29.707.0 WWE
05/07/08
1.65.16.25
25.83.40.02H
KAIS130
SPL-3.28.Hard
CPLD-8
Hope we may have a solution on the above, Thanks for any reply.
the apps that are freezing, are they installed on device and reading files on storage card orr installed to storage card and the shortcut is on device? if the apps are installed to the storage card they will sometimes run slow, try uninstalling them and reinstalling to the device. also you might check your running programs in the task manager. running programs will obviously eat RAM and thus the device will run slower
i thing it is not cause by reinstallation
even i use the built in file explorer to read the SD card, it also hang...

had the same problem after flashing the original german wm6.1 rom. everytime i tried to read the sd card totalcomander/file explorer crashed, couldn´t play music from the sd, but the files were readable via cardreader
i formatted the sd card, hard resetted a few times with/without card: noting, the problem was still here.
so i flashed another rom and voila: NO FREEZING! don´t know what happend, but everything is good now.
my first flash of the offical wm6.1 rom was a "bad" one, i think the download was a little bit corrupted, the start menu wasn´t like it should be, there were parts from the old wm6 left i think. so i think you should DOWNLOAD the rom again and then try to flash again.

Thanks for your information, but I had flashed "Dutty's", "TNT Series" and HTC official, same problem happened a few days after the flash, i assume it may not cause by download problem....
are there any way to verify a flash result ????

1. Try removing the SD card and SIM while flashing the new ROM.
2. Try formatting the SD card in FAT32 again.
Clean your card slot in the phone its dirty thats all .

problem still reamin,
however, once reflash back to Windows Mobile 6.0, SD card works reflash 6.1 SD hang.....any idea?
I've seen a similar symptom to this if I try to change my Internet cache to write to the storage card.
Both the OEM AT&T Tilt 6.1 firmware and a couple of the flashes from here - same thing.
Now here's the cute part - I also have a 2GB NON-SDHC card and so far, with THAT card, it hasn't happened.
This looks like some kind of registry problem in these ROMs, and it also appears to be in the base code and across a number of different loads.
It scrambled the hell out of the formatting on my 4GB card when it happened the first time. The second time I SAW a scrambled directory in Total Commander, but a checkdisk on my PC (it has a reader that can read the SDHC cards native) came back clean.
There's something funny going on with these loads somewhere.
Never mind - it just blew up the same way on the non-HC card. Same deal.

Storage Card Disappeared in KS20

Hello,
I have a problem with my KS20. I have WM5 installed as also successfully patched it to see MicroSD HC. Until one time I’ve took out my storage card and inserted it to LG KP500 mobile phone. After this KS20 couldn’t see ANY storage card, even 512 Mb Micro SD. All my storage card working great in other devices. I’ve tried to restart, tried to re-install patch nothing helped. Interesting thing that after installing WM5Storage, I can use my storage card inserted in KS20 as a mounted disk in my PC, so I think it’s ok with hardware. May be anybody could advice something that I should do not to make Factory Reset?
Thank you!
ks 20..
mines stuck and doesnt come out..lol
how doyou put it in and take it out....

[CM13.0] Internal storage problem

Hello.
I have just wiped my device and installed the newest CM13.0 - Marshmallow (LG G3 D855). After rebooting and configuring my phone I got an information that my SD card is unknown. After pressing the notification the phone asked me if I want to use my SD card as external or internal storage. I read about this in the Web and decided to choose the 2nd option. The card was formatted (it was stucked at 20% for couple minutes and after that time progress bar disappeared - no information about success or errors). Internet said me to reboot my phone after the operation is completed.
Now I have a problem. External storage disappeared. I was expecting it to be a part of my old internal storage (about 10GB + 64GB of my SD). What I saw was still 10GB and nothing more. I tried to go to the settings and checked `Storage and USB`. I found my card but I couldn't check the size and anything (there was an information "Checking...", which didn't refreshed even after 2h of waiting...). I think my SD was FAT32, but I'm not sure.
Now when I put the card into my PC i see it has 16MB of size. I tried to format it with size adjustment into NTFS, exFAT and FAT32 - the size of 64GB came back but after doing factory reset and configuring everything in the same way as I described before, I get same issues (using all the file systems).
After all I got angry and decided to choose using my SD normally as an external storage. In this case I see my card and I'm able to copy data on it, BUT... It has size of 16MB... I'm tired of this and really don't have any ideas how to repair it. I don't care if it is internal or external storage. I want this to start working as expected.
Informations:
- LG G3 D855
- CM13.0 (cm-13.0-20151127-NIGHTLY-d855.zip (290.07 MB))
- MicroSDXC ADATA 64GB CLASS-10 (AUSDX64GUICL10RA1)
[EDIT - SOLVED PARTIALLY]
I have partially solved the problem. I noticed that this 16MB is just a swap space. Probably that's why Android saw it as a partition to use.
I managed to set my SD as an external storage. I used EaseUS Partition Master. I deleted all partitions on my card. Next I created a new UNFORMATTED partition (just a raw partition). Then I put my card into the microSD slot in my G3 and started the phone. I chose `external storage` option and it worked! I tried the same for internal but it hangs at 20% and gets an exception. So for now until they fix this, I will use it in the old way.

i cant say this will work, but if i had your problem i would clean off the rom and flash it again, and while in twrp before booting, format your sd card. if that doesnt help, i dont know what else to try.
i didnt know this storage option was added to cm13, but anyways, i would never use external storage as internal. ii have seen people try for years, and usually come back with some problems.

I just ran into this problem on a LS990 (Sprint LG G3) and your post gave me a lead on how to fix it.
I didn't have a microsd reader handy so I used adb shell while in recovery and deleted the partition with fdisk
1. opens ADB
Code:
adb shell
2. This shows you the partitions on your device so you can pick out your external sd card
Code:
cat /proc/partitions
3. mmcblk1 was my external sd card, yours may be different
Code:
fdisk /dev/block/mmcblk1
4. P shows your partitions on the device
Code:
p
5. D deletes the partition on your selected device device
Code:
d
6. O creates a new empty dos partition table
Code:
o
7. N creates a new partition and I accepted all defaults
Code:
n
8. W writes new partition table to disk and exits fdisk
Code:
w
9. I then shut down my phone and removed the microsd.
10. Power phone back on. Once phone has completed boot, insert SD card and it'll give you the option to set up the SD card because it's corrupt. This time, choose portable.
**Note: I'm not an expert by any means and this may be completely unnecessary to go through, but this happened to work for me. Use at your own risk**
up any solution in 2016 ??
