sms alerts

all
is there a way to;
A) change the actual volume of the alert (I know about turning vol up/down) but what I want here is a louder alert when I recieve a message.
B) can I download new wav files to add to the default ones with myxda2i?
B1) if the above is answered yes, can you advise how I install them please?
Thanks
Pete
I would like to add to this.
I have downloaded .wav files and copied them into the windows directory, but when I go to listen to them in the sounds and notifications section they don't play, this has happened to all .wav files apart from one so far.
Look for the Nokia sms sound file uploaded somewhere in this forum. it works on my imate pocket pc and is loud.

I've also noticed that many wav files are some how encoded in mp3. So they have a file ext of .wav but ppc will only play pure wav files. If you switch the file ext on the wav's that do not play to .mp3 they will sudenly play in windows media player. this will tel you that it is not pure wav encoding.
if you choose properies of the wav file on the pc
it should ms ad pcm as format then it's a pure bred
puls modulated media

ringtones

i have transfered a mp3 song onto my sd card , does anybody know how to make this my ringtone?....it doesn't show when i try to add new tones is it because its mp3 format or am i missing theobvious :?: :?:
yep your missing something alright
depending on your operating system.
ringtone files need to be in your windows directory for standard os/2003 & 2003se and need to be wav/mid format
wm2005 works with wav mid wma 3gp wmv from anywhere
no in 2003 ring tones can also be wma
When I got my XDAIIs from O2, it can set wma files as ringtone. Just yesteday after I did a hard reset, my phone has already been unable to read wma files. Do you have any idea why this happened?

MP3 set as ringtone -Ppc-

who mp3 song icon is not windows media player icon ,like picture below.
If your mp3 song icon is not windows media player icon,u cannot set mp3 as ringtones or just set windowsdefault.wav as ringtones only...........................
u should try to install mp3 reg file,
copy and paste into your device, click on reg file.
and then soft reset.
just try it ....
just paste the mp3 tone to windows/rings and after that just select your favorites mp3 ringtones at your phone option. good luck.

Can I use .mid as ringtones on WM2005?

Rom v1.71a.96WWE
Radio v1.18.00
I have some .mid files from my old spv c500, which i kinda like. However, even though the ringtone selector see's the files it won't play them. Is there a way to use them? Or is there a way to convert them to .wav?
Shouldn't be a problem.
They need to be named .mid, and they need to be in the \windows directory.
No, didn't work. It's like there is no file type association in WM2005. The icon for the file is just the normail icon Windows applies to unkown file types. Even the Mobile Windows Media Player doesn't play it. It's just a standard midi file, about 8k in size, and is call grandstand.mid The ringtone selector see's it, but won't play it.
Is there any way of downloading a new version of mediaplayer or a codec (not that i've ever heard of .mid files needing a codec) to support it?
check this thread.

That link has disappeared, can you post the cure or another link please as I have the same problem.

How to reinstall WMPlayer ?

Hi,
Could someone please tell me how can I reinstall Window Media Player for my Tornado and where can I download it ?
The reason I need to do this is that my WMPlayer does not work & MP3 can not be used as ring tone.
If I select any MP3 or WMA file in the setting / Sound, it will say the file is corrupted or not supported. My Phone will only play *.mid file as ring tone.
I installed TCPMP afterwards, and my MP3 files are working fine under TCPMP.
Thank you
AP
You can't reinstall a program being in ROM. You need to do an hard reset...
You need to do a registry hack in order to associate your MP3 files with WMP instead of TCMP.
I'll check later which key you need to modify.
Don't think so.
Dont' uninstall WMplayer. I'm sure that you installed PocketMusic on your device, this has made you could'n set ringtone. If you want to set ringtone, you must paste *.wma (windows media audio 9.0 file) in applicationdatas/sound. Good lucks
