Apply the A2DP patch and stream music and video via bluetooth to your phone. Other than that, you have to do it via http and wifi.

Setup Media Center at home.
Then install this.

hey presto, streaming media.
As long as you have a decent uplink from your home, you'll be fine.
I can stream music/movies to my 3G PDA and Smartphone from anywhere in the world

problem
thanx for the tips!
when i try accessing the adress http://mce-machine/webguide3/mobile
i get error that my browser on my tornado is not configured right.
i can surf to all other pages and i can access the webguide page from my laptop remotely.
any suggestions?

my media centre is down ( i've been tinkering :? ) i'll check it out when it's back up and running.

Media Streaming Through Orb on WM6

I currently have an HTC Wizard G4 Locked running WM6 Business Edition and have Opera installed as my browser. I have TMobile in the US with the full $30 data plan.
I also have a home computer at home with a TV Tuner card so that I can watch TV. Orb Media Streaming is on and working as I can access it from a laptop anywhere.
When I go to mycast.orb.com, I can login to my computer and see the channels/files that I have. So I click on one, and it shows up asking if I want to open or save the asx files. I say open and WM Player opens up and says locating. Then it says The server is Busy or not responding. Try again later. If I open the asx in TCPMP, it says URL is not openable. What is the problem? I am streaming the video through port 81 from my computer. I would appreciate any answers. Thx
Use PIE, I never got it to work on opera.
Sounds like Opera may not be passing the stream file correctly to WMP.
I would just use PIE. That's what I access Orb through on WM6 and it works great.
the problem is that the codecs for wm10 are different than the ones from wm9. the is another thread in the wizard forums that has the wm9 files. you just copy them into the windows directory and you're good to go.

HTC Streaming Media Player PPC with WLAN/ASync

hi,
I'm working on some streaming media app for mobile phones/ppc, and use my Polaris for testing the 3gp rtsp streaming. When connected over the air (hsdpa/umts) the rtsp streaming works fine with the inbuilt htc streamin media app. However when I connect the polaris to the internet either via WLAN or activesync (through the host pc) the streaming doesn't work at all. the streaming media app opens as soon as I click the rtsp link just fine, but then just says can't connect.
Any ideas on how to get it to work via wlan/async? otherwise all this testing might be getting expensive
the htc streaming media app (v 2.20 build 1026.711) is from the stock polaris rom.
alternatively another rtsp 3gp/mp4 player app that works with all connections would be just as fine, but some quick googling around didn't turn up any obvious contenders -- the htc app seems to be pretty good at what it does; except for the connection problems that is...
hmm.. I guess nobody else is either using steaming media on their polaris, or I'm the only one having problems with it... I just don't understand why it won't work over WLAN instead of only OTA...
Exact same problem here. Working well over 3G with any streaming app, however it's never working over WLAN.

I just thought the inbuilt Streaming Media app, was completely useless...
I didn't know it woulld work over cellular and not over wifi.....
You're the first person I've come across who's managed to get it to work at all......!
I use realplayer and the built in windows media player for my streaming..... but as I say, I've only ever tried it over wifi....
I may investigate over HSPDA, 3G, etc.....
How is the windows mobile realplayer? does it install other stuff that integrate everywhere into the system like the PC version (which I will never install again) or is it a well behaved ppc app? And does it work for streaming over wlan?

Sorry I mean, I use Real Player for pocket pc AND Windows Media player for streaming .wma/asx files.
It's well behaved from what I can work out.. It's like back to the days of realplayer 8, when it was a well behaved little application....
As for streaming... I've only ever streamed over wlan.... Including a couple of bbc tv programs....
There is a site for the BBC streams, as they're all rstp files, Real Player won't open the links.. (Don't ask why, I have no idea) but in theory.. the HTC Streaming Media thingy should do, as that's the type of file PREfix, it's looking for...

Media renderer in my phone

Hi! I need an application to view video and play audio in my Topaz from my NAS connected to a wi-fi router. I connect the router to PS3 an everythings is ok. If i open the nas ip with opera on the phone i see the configuration page of the nas and i see the file inside but if i open, it obviously try to download it, but i want to play it in real time lika a streaming. I try with media player but it doesn't want to play the video from nas url. What can I do? is there an application that act as a media renderer for my phone?
Another thing is that it will be fantastic if i can choose a file with my phone from the nas and play it in my ps3 or in my pc...
there is a streaming application included, have you tried it?

Streaming from PC about home network

Hi,
I want have access with my vox (WM6.5 from FB) to my notebook via WLAN and network to get files or listen music (e.g. streaming mp3s with TCPMP). Is there a way to realize ?
After short google investigation I found Resco Explorer for PPC to get access to files on notebook. But smartphone version hasn't that feature.
Any idea?
Regards Odiad
you could try to stream music and videos with vlc player.
if tcmp doesn't work, maybe HTC Streaming Media Player will.
Hi Klownk,
thanks for the hint. If I am try to use HTC streaming..... and I go to "Connect" I have to fill an adress. Can you support me how to fill in:
Example:
Notebook name (in windows): Notebook
IP in private network: 192.168.1.105
Music is in: C:\Music\....... (many subfolders with music files /mp3/WMA)
Networkname (SSID): Odiadnetz
So how to fill in into adressbar of HTC-Tool ? And do I have to fill in every path of each song ? Or is there a way to browse in my music folder structure?
Or can I use the tool only for streaming in www ?
Thanks in advance
Odiad
Conduits PocketPlayer can receive (and even send!) streams. It detects available servers via UPNP. You need to have a mediaserver installed on the PC. I did this once to see if it works (it does) but I don't remember which mediaserver performed best. See http://www.conduits.com/community/forum_topics.asp?FID=19

password protected internet audio stream

Hey guys,
I'd like to listen to an audio internet Windows Media stream, which is password protected. I do have the password. Problem is, I don't have a program to play this stream.
I tried Windows Media Player, Coreplayer and Internet Explorer. First two are having trouble with the password protection. "Access denied" is the only response, not able to enter any password. IE just shows a placeholder like the ones for pictures on the internet.
Does someone know a program to play Windows Media Streams (audio only) with password protection?
Thanks
cya, the_at
Can anyone help me with that?
Additional information: With Internet Explorer for PC I just type in a standard http://www. address. The stream itself is mms://
How knows a program to play this stream on a HTC HD 2? Program has to be able to handle password protected streams (I do have the password)
Hey,
again some more infos:
When I connect my HD2 via USB to my Laptop the TCPMP Player will play the audio stream. (Laptop connects to the internet via WLAN). When I connect my HD2 directly to the internet via WLAN(same network, router etc. as with the laptop) TCPMP player will not play the audio stream saying "The protocol mms is not supported". However other websites such as google can be accessed from Opera browser or Internet Explorer, meaning that the internet access generally works.
My question is: Why does TCPMP say "mms" isnt supported when connected via WLAN and doesnt have a problem when connected via USB --> Laptop --> WLAN?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
the_at
