Bluetooth with Car (Toyota) - General Topics

I've got a Bluetooth Car audio in my Toyota from Toyota. But I cannot establish a connection between my PDA (BA) and the car.
I Know there are not all bluetooth profiles installed on the BA.
I'm using WM2003 SE and the Widcomm Stack 1.0.3900.
How can I change/enhance the Bluetooth stack?
Is it working with WM5?
greets
JEKAL

I've the same problems with Ford.
I 've already posted this problem in every forum I know - but hadn't got any answer yet.
Now shouting loud
HI FOLKS, WHO CAN HELP ????
Dieter

@dieterpapa
I have a solution which is working for me since last night :!:
I reinstalled the MDA3 from scratch with the latest ROM version (from march this year) and applied the audio gateway patch. :!: :!: :!: Do not restore any Backup made before.
Now it is working :!::!::!:

jekal

Hi jekal,
thanks for the info. Which ROM version are you using ?
To my best knowledge I believe to have the latest version, too.
I did reinstall from scratch in April with the ROM mentioned below.
What's the difference to your version ?
What type of a Ford handsfree device are you using ?
Dieter

Hi dieterpapa
I'm using the same ROM version mentioned in your signature.
Did you apply the audio gateway patch?
Well I am using a Toyota Blutooth car kit, not a Ford.

Audio Gateway patch ?
What I still have to apply is: BA_OEM_AudioGW.CAB
Is this the correct patch ?
Dieter
PS: Jens seems quite German/Austrian/Swiss.....

Yup, it is german, but I think we should keep our english for the others.
My patch is called Version 1.33g. Latest file in Cab is from Jan 27th 2005.
If you have this applied I probably cannot be of any further help.

Jens

did try with ford - doesn`t work. Ford only supports a "handsfree" bluetooth profile - the BA only has "headset".
I`m still trying to get an information how to upgfrade the BA to "handsfree" BT profile.

Bluetooth & Toyota Prius
I have an XDA 2 (UK - marketed by O2) & have (after 5 months) discovered that Toyota admit to having a problem with bluetooth connectivity for "some models" (three newer phones belonging to garage employees also failed to bond when I took it back after trying to create a bond for a week& these were not PDA phones!).
They tell me that if the bluetooth version I have has two specific files, it SHOULD be possible to connect - the files are HFPv1 M3 Profile & OPP v 1.1 The problem I have is finding out whether I have these files - I have an e-mail in to O2 at the moment & will be happy to let you know what they come up with - from Toyota's guarded reaction the XDA is clearly a "problem" model & what I do not know is what happens if I prove I DO have these files & still can't make a bond!

Toyota say they can't supply a list of compatible phones because "it would soon become obsolete" but technically minded folks might like to know that they say you need Bluetooth 1.1, Hands Free Profile 1.0 & Object Push 1.1
As I could grow old waiting for O2 to get back to me I'm afraid I gave up - if you want the PDA function of the Xda2 & a phone which will bond with the Toyota system, the Orange SPV M600 bonded instantly & seems to work well even near my home where the signal is pretty poor!

Having a similar problem with a US 2006 Acura TL and a Cingular 3125. The phonoe pairs, but only has limited features. Call waiting drops the call and routes the waiting call to voice mail. Most annoying.
I understand that the Cingular ROM build I have *should* be able to support the HFP, but it was not included in the build for some reason.
Looking for a way to push address book, handle call waiting correctly, display battery life and signal strength on car dash display. As far as I can tell, HFP should handle some or all of those.
Any thoughts??

I'm considering purchasing either a 3125 or 8525, but I am very concerned about losing the ability to accept a second call via my Acura TL handsfree system. Almost all of my calling takes place in my car, and this feature is critical to me. Does anyone know if the released Cingular 8525 works with the TL?

Guys
I came across the following after much searching. It certainly works for me, you may wish to take a closer look at it.

JABRA BT200/XDAII Reconnect/Bonding problems

I have been using a JABRA BT200 Headset with my XDAII and have always had the same problem, once the BT200 has been paired with the XDAII it works fine but once I put the headset into it's charging cradle and then remove it and try to use it again it always loses it's bond, the only way I can get it to communicate with the XDAII again is to pair it again.
I don't know whether the problem lies with the BT200 or the XDAII
Does anyone else have this problem ???
Thanks

hey ian,
it was just recently that i was able to figure out the bt-xda2 bonding; thanks to some helpful chaps in the forum. in the process; i did some research within several topics and read something which may answer your query. when the headset is back in it's cradle; i believe it's "turned off" or is put into inactive mode. the forum message i read indicated that the bonding is lost once the headset is turned off; thus you have to bond again. yes, i have had similar experiences while figuring out the bonding issue. i just keep the bt200 i have out of the cradle; when the time comes to charge it i then holster it and repeat the bonding process once it's charged. i don't think it's a problem with neither devices; it's the default setting i believe. with luck probably the xda-developer guys will come up with a bug fix for this item. which could also include using bt for other than the phone function...like mp3....hint! hint!
cheers

I've installed Towa's GPS BT patch and the Jabra works perfect.
hey redbull,
what's the Towa's GPS BT patch and where can i find a link?
cheers mate
robson
Towa's gps patch has nothing to do with this...
I'm not sure what you are talking about, but Towa's patch will not solve the Jabra BT200 issue. The more important question to look at here is what version of BT200 you have. If you look on your Jabra BT200 right next to the microphone, there is a combination of letters and numbers, what does yours say? I think the problem has to do with issues in the firmware in the Jabra that were fixed in later versions.
It's usually 2 numbers and a letter on the boom to the Microphone.
I have a 47A and it does not work at all. Also tested a 48A and it doesn't work either.
mine's a 48b. works fine.
Cool, just so we are talking about the same thing, you can turn off the Jabra BT200, and turn it back on, and it still works with the phone? You can charge the headset in it's charger and pull it out and it still works? You can go out of range and then back in range and it still works? You can press the answer phone button on the headset when no call is in progress and then try to make a call and things still work?
Please try these various things and let me know.
I know that the A models are from 2002, and the B models are 2003. So it is possible if yours works with all these scenarios that they fixes or changed something in the 2003 models that allow them to work.
Thanks for your time,
LouisK
I recently purchased a BT 250 with nr. 44B and indeed it works with all the tests you described. (Don't need the BT GPS patch for that)
If only the advanced Headset Profile features would work with the MDA II I would be in heaven...........
Ok, it seems based on feedback I've gotten from several people that any Jabra Freespeak that has a "B" as the last part of it's version number will work correctly, but the "A" models do not. The "B" models according to Jabra are the most recent, and thought they don't admit it, there must have been a change in the firmware that allows the "B" units to work correctly with an XDA2/MDA2/i-Mate that the "A" units don't support.
LouisK
I have a "B" on mine and the same problem of rebonding when Jabra is shut off. I experimented by turning off bluetooth on the i-mate and it still worked. Anyone have ideas of a good headset that will not need rebonding?
I have problems with mine too and its a 16B. Turn the BT headset off and its rebond time again.....
48B works fine for me... can't everyone else just use TOWA's patch... that fixed the problem for others

16B is no good. I've been told that minumum needed is 19B. Below 19B is bluetooth 'handsfree' not 'headset'.
Towa's patch has nothing to do with this. It will not help in this situation. It only applies to Bluetooth Serial Profile, of which the Jabra has none. I have talked to Towa via email to confirm this. For those that installed Towa's patch and said it works, more than likely they didn't have the problem anyway because of the version of Jabra they had.

EMAIL FROM JABRA RE-Bonding Problems with XDA-II

Dear Ian,
Thank you for your e-mail and please accept our apologies for the delay in reply.
We are sorry to hear you are experiencing problems using your JABRA BT200 headset in conjunction with your O2 XDA II.
However, having tested the JABRA BT200 headset with the XDA II, we have encountered the following problems.
When completed charging the headset you will need to synchronise the Headset and the Audio Gateway in your XDA II.
Please follow the steps below:
Select Bluetooth menu> Select Off> Select OK (BT is now disconnected)
Return to desktop (Today view)> Disable BT HS mode> Enable BT HS mode (User
to be prompted to turn On BT radio)>Select OK
Enter BT menu> Select On> Select OK (The XDA II returns to the "Today" view
and will try to synchronise with the HS again.
Check connection by establishing an outgoing call. If no sync - you will need
to re-pair the two devices)
We hope this will solve your problem for you. If you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us again.

BlueTooth Handsfree profile ? Is it really possible ?

I have seen various posts regarding this subject. Both on this forum as on various other sites around the globe. Nowhere I have found an easy 'this is how you do it' manual on getting a Handsfree bluetooth profille on a MDA.
I was really happy when I encountered the 'PocketPC Bluetooth Tools' which page indicated the version 1.1 (released in April 2004) added the Handsfree profile.
I installed it without success. Do I need a different BT stack ? I now have the standard MS stack. I am running 1.60 WWE on a dutch MDA.
Any response (positive or negative) is appreciated.
I am trying to get the MDA working with the Parrot CK-3100 carkit.
Excellent carkit, but now only able to use using the Headset profile.
Thanks,
Taco

No you shouldn't ned a different bluetooth stack, as the pocketpc tools do everything automatically. I installed it and have it working successfully on my XDA II with 1.60 WWE.

Could you please indicate WHAT is working successfully. Do you mean you are succesfully operating a 'handsfree profile' carkit ?
If so, do you get an option to select the handsfree profile in the MDA/XDA ?
I only get 'Headset'....
Thanks,

Oh sorry. I only get the headset side working as well.
I read somewhere that the Parrot BT carkit can be configured to use the BT headset profile (and therefore works with MDAII)
Yes, that's right. I use the Parrot in the car with my 02 XDA II (stock ROM 1.66WWE). Works great and supports the headset profile.
Where can youget this programm?
The Parrot (in this context ) is not a program / software, but hardware. Its a handsfree kit.
You dont need additional software for it to work.
For three days I have been having ck3000.
I use it with BTTools 10.12.
With vito voice to dialer you can mark by means of the voice, but using the mike of the XDAII, not the one of ck3000.
It works fine.
If I install widcomm BT stack, parrot not work nor with MS stack.
Ok guys, I made it quite clear in my first post that I was looking for the Handsfree profile. The headset profile works fine even without Pocket Bluetooth Tools. To be honest, with version 1.1 it does not work all that great actually. So I am planning to uninstall the additional software.
I am still puzzled why the website for PBT indicated support for a Handsfree (=carkit) profile in version 1.1.
I tried contacting the author, but he is not responding unfortunately, nor has the software been updated since april.....
So to be short: there is no-one that has created a (working) handsfree profile on his/her XDA.....

BT Headset w/caller ID and XDA II/IMate PPC

In reviewing the forums, I am unable to find a "straight" answer (at least one I can understand), about whether *ANY* BT headset with caller ID will fully work with the XDA II (or in my case, the IMATE PPC).
My configuration:
Imate PPC (XDA II)
ROM: 1.72.00WWE (3/15/04)
Radio: 1.14.00
Protocol: 1337.24
ExtROM: 1.72.800
I am running Pocket Bluetooth Tools V1012 (also tried 1100).
Can anyone tell me if the Sony-Ericsson HBH-660 or any other caller-ID enabled BT headset will properly display the caller number and/or name with the above hardware/software profile?
I know for sure that the Jabra BT800 will NOT. The headset works (actually, works great... good reception!), but the caller ID does not work.
Thanks in advance!
-Kevin.
Hi,
There are many ways to get the Bluetooth with Caller ID works on the PPC. The trick is that the Caller ID needs a Hands Free profile, which is not standard in the PPC. After using one of these ways, you will end up having the the caller number only appears, but no names. If this is what you want, I can tell you how it could be done.
Hi Waladany,
Yes, I would be very interested in knowing how to get it to work. A number (without name), is perfectly acceptable. I still have the Jabra BT800 headset for about 6 more days before I must return it for a refund, so I can use it to test.
Thanks in advance.

Jabra BT800 and Caller ID and XDAII WM2003SE
I would also be VERY interested in how to get this to work... Thx...
Ok Guys, here are what i got.
You have two ways:
1- Install the merged rom made by sin (you can find it in the forum), as it includes the bluetooth fix. ( This is what I tried)
2-a- Install the Bluetooth Handsfree fix, I will attach it for you. After installing both updates, you should try to bond with the Headset. you should be receiving the message telling you that this is a Hands Free Device (Yes or No). You better say yes. If you said No, another message pop up twice asking if it is a Handset Device.
2-b- As a test, if you already have the headset bonded, you can go to the devices screen in bluetooth. Click and hold on the device, you should see a shortcut menu with the option "set as Hand Free". Try to select and test the Hands Free

I have the merged ROM by Sin, but still experience the same microphone issues. The CallerID works great, but the microphone on the headset is not active. Both the speaker and microphone on the XDA-II are operating.

Are you referring to the registry fix? I think that just makes you able to select hands-free at all. It doesn't fix the microphone problem.
The only thing I've heard that works is the 2.20 Chinese version. But I'm pretty happy with the Sin version. I wish we could find a quick fix for it.
If I've missed a new BT fix from Sin, please post the link here.
Thanks
bt
no way no how will BT CID work fully on even 2.20!! It sucks.
On 2005 it works FLAWLESSLY. But there are bugs on 2005, lack of mem, contacts and email database are new so will not work with many third party software, etc.
Even if you add the reg key "HadsfreeProfileOn", (Sins fix), or have any BT stack or even pray to the bluetooth God, your ****ed on 2.02 - 2.06.
2.20 is ****ty.. If I receive another call while using handsfree, even if I do not answer it, I loose all sound and mic ON BOTH until I click on Tools, Hands free off and then again tools hands free on.
Sometimes the mic - duel speaker things comes back and you have to reboot.

Parrot CK3100 BT carkit and WM6 problems

Ever since I upgraded my M700 to WM6 I have had no end of problems using my Parrot Ck3100 bluetooth carkit and my phone.
It worked perfectly with WM5 but I have since upgraded with various versions of WM6 from AXL and Mary's version. I've also tried various different radio ROMs up to the latest 1.50.08.11 but no difference. These are the problems I have been experiencing:
1, Intermittent loss of link between phone and Parrot.
2, Call not routed through car speakers even though BT is connected.
3, Sometimes the audio is lost completely as the phone thinks it has diverted it to the car speakers, when it hasn't and mutes the phone. Other times the music note with the line through it (mute?) is on during a call.
4, Calls dialled through Parrot dial, but voice goes through phone.
5, Parrot reboots itself after a call.
Although since uprgading to WM6 I now have network name, signal strength and battery level on the Parrot, it's main usability has become very frustrating as it only seems to work as advertised 25% of the time. I have checked the firmware on the Parrot and it has the latest version and it still works perfectly with my friends' Sony Erricson, so I know it's not a problem with the Parrot, only WM6.
I have also tried JETware BT stack, but it didn't make any difference, the same problems persisted.

Have exactly the same problems... WM5 worked perfectly with car kit, but since ROM flash update to WM6 never worked the same way then...
Perhaps a flash update to parrot car kit solves the problem...
Any new issue after this?
I've given up on wm6 at the mo. I use a parrot mini and have the same problem with all the wm6 roms I've tried. Have gone back to wm5 and no problems.
I had same problem
last sunday I had the unlucky idea to update my CK3100 ; until that it worked perfectly with my HTC p3600 with WM6.
After a short period , I found a solution installing JETware BT HFP Extension 1.31; now everythingh is perfect , contacts are well syncronized , every indication is ok , etc. any residual prblem !!!

Anybody can help with this problem?
Thanks

I have a new Sprint 6800 -Mogul (ROM 2.09.651.3) with WM6 (pro CE OS 5.2.1238) factory load . I am trying to get it to work a Bluetooth car kit.
Originally tried a Motorla HF850 and had dropout problems (paired and connected great then randomly dropped the connection.
Just bought a Parrot CK3100 (firmware version 4.16c) and it is experiencing exactly the same problems as described by abeesley (thread item #1).
Scattered throughout various blogs is the same theme, this phone has bluetooth issues but there is no consensus of where the problem is or what to do to fix it.
Does anyone know of a fix?
If not who needs to be chased, Sprint, HTC, Microsoft, Parrot
This is getting very frustrating
Thanks
i deleted all pairing from both sides
paired the device with parot
name appeared
but phone both and call register didn't
I have just had the 3200LS installed into my car and am having similiar problems. Most notibly, whenever the phone rings and i press the answer button on the parrot, it disconnects the bluetooth and then i cant hear anything. It does this every single time, but works fine (well 80%) when i dial out from the parrot.
With my Motorola HF850, I have the same issue referring the route to the CK speaker when answering a call. I tried to install all the software/Radio ROM...no way! MY P3600 WM6 does not want to work properly...while no issues running WM5
I have the same problem with the Parrot minikit and HTC TOUCH
Hi all,
I just bought the Parrot minikit, and I am facing the same problems with the HTC TOUCH.
The minikit is paired perfectly, when I dial a number from the TOUCH, the sound of the call remains on the TOUCH, only when pressing the answer button in the minikit it sometimes transfers the call to the minikit.
I opened a SUPPORT case to Parrot and they are saying:
"We have fully tested the HTC Touch in France with our Minikit and we did not see any impediments. "
So I emailed them back with allot of links describing the problem.
Good luck to us all

Hey man,
I had all the trouble described above, and i did a lot of things (tried another wm6 rom, for ex.) and never had problems since.
Try to:
1st - remove pairing bluetooth devices both on phone and Parrot
2nd - pair again both
3rd - If still having problems, try a different wm6 rom or install the JetWare BT extension (don't forget to repeat steps 1st-2nd, after install/update)
This should work.
Regards.

Hi, thanks for your hint. Unfortunately I tried with all of these stuff, but still having the same [email protected] moment I run Lasagna ROM 3.05 KE Full with Jetware ext...and still struggling...I'm desperate....the only way to make it works is to roll back to WM5...but I do not want...

Which ROM to use to achieve compatibility with mercedes bluetooth SAP

Hallo experts,
I am a newbie to this forum and a greenhorn concerning programming. But I bought the HTC Kaiser in order to get it running with my Mercedes Bluetooth SAP V2 Cradle (Article number Mercedes Benz: A204 820 0535). Unfortunately, the cradle does not work with the Kaiser. Do you know any solution (another ROM? for example) that may change the situation?
Thank you all very much for your appreciated help!

Don't have a Merc....One day maybe. Had similar problems as you with a Parrot bluetooth car kit though.
Found that Dutty 29 Apr, and Laurentius' latest roms work completely with it though. Other roms may work too (don't want to tread on anybody's toes).
Some of the older cooked roms would either not route the audio properly, would only work for one call then stop routing, etc.
The latest rom I have tried is PDAViet'. Very fast in some aspects, Very slow at others. The Parrot car kit has real problems working with this rom.
Basically, try a Dutty (latest), or the latest Laurentius and I reckon everything will be fine.
Thank you very much Blartiartfast for you rapid and competent reply!
So I will try to change the Rom to the one's you mentioned and will report the result
Have a good time m8

i've had problems with both a hermes and kaiser connecting up to the mercs bluetooth.
What i found i had to do was to get both the merc and the kaiser to search and connect to each other at exactly the same time. I found that if you made the merc search for the phone it wouldn't auth, and vice versa. But oddly making both connect at the same time worked.
Hope this helps.

Agreed! Laurentius_26's latest ROM works very with my ML63 AMG. Sometimes it randomly disconnects, but what Phone/Rom isnt going to?

This approach has worked for me several times as well. I use Dutty's April 29th ROM and have found stability to be fantastic. I haven't dropped a Bluetooth connection yet. Good luck.

Problems always persist with HTC Kaiser and MB bluetooth SAP
As stated in the replies to my question (Thanks to all of those who answered), I tried the last Dutty ROM and the last Laurentius ROM - but in no way I have been able to establish an adequate bluetooth SAP connection between my Kaiser and the mercedes benz bluetooth sap v2 cradle (I provide the original art. no A204 820 0535 in order to be more precise about the item I use).
Does anybody have a step by step "cooking receipt" how I could establish the communication? I suppose that the MB bluetooth sap device uses A2DP, but nobody could confirm until now...
The Kaiser recognizes the MB bluetooth sap device on a regular basis as "UHI-SN3483" and sometimes as "MB-Phone". The MB device recognizes the Kaiser as "Pocket_PC" with the Laurentius ROM and as "TYTN II" with the Dutty ROM. Note that the "Remote SIM Access" was enabled in both ROM's.
I tried also to modify the registry entry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Sys\COD from decimal 5898764 (Smartphone) to decimal 5374476. But no connection at all.
I didn't use JETware because I do not want an HFP but a SAP connection.
Another point I could not deal with is that the Dutty ROM features in Settings an item named "Bluetooth SIM Access". What does it is for and how to set it? pointing on it does not result in another effect than display in the header where was located Settings the term "BT Remote SIM Acce"
Sorry I have been that long, but I really need to get into this bluetooth SAP connection with my Kaiser
Thank you all

hello guys... I've read in one of the threads for a diamond-rom-based rom that it includes "SIM Acess Version 3.0.xxx"... perhaps it will work with thsi new version... but until now I've not found any cooked, diamond-based rom, that includes SIM Access...

With every ROM that I have used before this one - it has been a rather hit and miss endeavor to link my Parrott bluetooth in my car with my phone. I USUALLY have to tell the PArrott that I want to link with a phone and step through things.
With the DEATH V3.5 ROM installed I got in my car and was in a hurry and thought I would sync them later.
After I started the car the phone indicated that the PARROTT wanted to connect and establish a connection - I indicated that it should be allowed - I was then asked for a key code on my phone- I looked at the PARROTT display device and had a 4 digit code there - keyed that into my phone and it paired easily.
Go figure...

I work for Mercedes and I paired my Kaiser 10s of times. I am guessing you are in the UK because we don't use the sim access cradles. I don't see why our technology would be better than yours. The cradle we sell that works is 6-7-87-5878 But I doubt it will work there.
I was trying to use a Nokia 616 car kit with T mobile sim in the UK, but T mobile does not support Sim acccess profile with their sims. I am about to try an o2 sim which hopefully will.
If the NB uses sim access profile and the provider does not support that use of its sim, then the Nokia will not even allow fallback to bluetooth car profile.
I hope you proble is not being caused by the above but thought you should be aware in case!

It does works for MBZ. I am using it without any issue
Htc touch diamond and Mercedes SAP kit
i have a mercedes sap v2 car kit, i have the same problem being not able to pair with windows mobile based phones, the car can see the phone but phone cannot recieve the password confirm and so connection fails.
i tried many roms, added the SAP settings, and yesterday had the chance to try the new HTC touch DIAMOND on car, but same results.
i think that solving this problem is just a software issue, first in windows profiles, or as addition from Phone manufacturers (as HTC) ,because the car kit is already fixed to car and cannot be modified to use other profile.
but i still have hope that the professionals in this forum can help to solve this problem, before any of Microsoft or HTC. Please share any information to help
Thank you
Mercedes Benz makes five BlueTooth adapters that have five proprietary firmware that each adapts to a different type of phone. For example, a Vorizon CDMA BT adapter will not work with Sprint CDMA phone and vice versa. So in essence, if you have a AT&T service, and use a Motorola Phone, MBZ provides a specific BT adapter, that would be close to impossible to pair with an HTC device.
I would suggest going to an authorized Mercedes Benz parts department at their dealership and request to try all 5 adapters b4 you commit to buying one.
Only In the new 2008 and 2009 C-Class MBZ cars the BT adapter is universal and built in. In earlier models and other models (2008's), the BT adapters would need to be purchased independently; a 2X4 device that installs in the center glove box that works as a link between the media port of the car ( Hands Free) and the phone.
My 2 cents....
try the neon radio rom
i tried it in one of my friends car
if it did not work (change your car to fit your phone )
