nope
arima communication
its a gd pda phone
big is the idea as i find nowadays pda is hard to c!
tatsdiy.com got a TV OUT demo on its site
At last!
Official launch date is May 15.
I see this unit as being the long awaited upgrade to my XDA2, the dimensions are very similar but it is lightyears ahead in all specs and blows away the competition. This is what htc should have been working on instead of moving its product line towards a smartphone design.
O2 asia said they would offer a free upgrade to WM6 once they have tested it.
The USB OTG will be a huge benefit, meaning this PPC will no longer be tied to synchronization with a PC - you can use it with USB flash drives, printers, cameras etc.
IMHO, this is the best all round package you can currently buy and well worth importing it if you want a XDA2 replacement. The presentation is a bit disappointing though, pretty bland but everything else is spot on.
its available in Singapore already, priced currently at SGD1498

hmm, IMHO, that looks like cheap launch price as compared to what HTC universal debuted there
It's the only PDA I know with an embedded dedicated graphics card. Here are the specs (at the store):
Memory: 128MB RAM (DUDE!), 2112MB ROM
Processor: 520mhz PXA270 (um.)
Band: Triband GSM, 3.5G
Connectivity: BT2.0, Wifi B/G, Consumer-level IR(DA)
Graphics: Nvidia GoForce 5500 (not to be confused with the GeForce Go used in Laptops, but this will help A LOT.)
Features:
USB (OTG!)
TV-Out
SRS-Audio
microSD slot (why not a standard SD? <_<)
And that's that. My only complaint is that ve haff no FM Radio - I'm not too hot about GPS yet - but methinks an iTech Clip should solve that... >_>
Anyone wants to donate $1500? -.-

It has FM radio
<_< ok, I just went back to the store. Mentioned nowhere on the brochure or flyer at all. It's something that's marketable so I don't see why it won't be mentioned unless it's not there.
I think its rediculous that they release it without WM6. I am sure they will offer an upgrade path though. Sweet phone...
I was getting ready to get it when I noticed there is no EGPRS
Living in GSM 3G deprived NA and being quite ok with EGPRS (but not GPRS) speeds I can live with that, but as far as I can tell there is no EGPRS on this one
I know sometimes manufacturers will just say GPRS and it includes both EDGE and GPRS but I have a feeling that this is not the case with the Flame?
AFAIK EGPRS is a SW thing only, so would a hack be thinkable?
Is this not an HTC made device or?

Although..the X800 has almost one inch smaller screen
^ And internal memory, including system RAM, beat the pants off pretty much everything except the Dopod U1000. About the only thing it loses out to the X800 is the GPS.

I didn't, I mentioned "SRS Sound", and I refuse to quote stereo speaker and speakerphone since those are pretty much part and parcel of PPCs since 2002. As for FM Radio, yeah, my bad. I've since confirmed that it has an FM radio, but it's just not mentioned in the fliers. Rock on <_<

Dopod U100 is such a large and akward device though, I've had an O2 and iMate branded one but don't want one again...
Have been using it for nearly a week. Here's my impression:
- It's big, but not too big for shirt and jeans pocket (without any case)
- Sturdy made - much much better than the XDA trion, which is my last machine.
- Quite responsive, above average, but see battery
- Not many bundled software - no backup, UI tweak, launcher etc. and I don't like the task manager (O2 menu); it does have a better alarm and a basic wireless manager though
- Not enough buttons! (2 side buttons on the left; +/- button and camera button on the right; L/R softkeys + start and ok buttons + Call/Cancel buttons in the front) That's it. No jog dial, no calendar / contact buttons, no hold button
- Auto-focus camera with led. One word - SWEET
- 128mb RAM and 2 gig rom ... finally, this people have some sense
- Battery life, now this can be a problem. The PXA family is not known for its battery saving ability (I think the samsung 400 is better), and with a huge screen and ram to boot, I'm sure if you use the performance setting (520 mhz) and use it a lot (gaming, wireless), it won't last for even a day. It is highly recommended that you use programmes like XCPU scalar to scale the the speed to 208 when the machine is idle, and max it at 416 (which is enough for most programmes). Then the battery life will be acceptable.
- Bluetooth, crap. Not entirely O2's fault, but how come after so many years MS(uxK) still can't get it right!? I used to own the XDAIIs and the broadcom stack is much better. I tried iTech and Jarba - the call part is ok but the music part is still not done right. Let's hope with the WM6 upgrade things will be better.
Casio A-10 > Casio E250 > Mio 338 > Asus 620BT > Loox720 > XDAIIs > Asus P525 > iPAC 6818 > XDA Trion > O2 Flame
UMPC with phone (GSM module) to 6" inches - (PDA, Smartphone) with touchscreen, Windo
UMPC with phone (GSM module) to 6" inches - (PDA, Smartphone) with touchscreen, Windows on the PC screen and from 4 "to 6" inch?
Hello, help me-I have a question:
Is it a UMPC with phone and multitouch touchscreen or, with a display and a regular Windows (Vista, XP, etc. ..- not Windows Mobile)?
Something like HTC Adwantage x7510, willcom D4, OQO, Sony Vaio UX, HTC Shift (to 5.4), to be plain Windows and you need the phone. (Slightly smaller than the HTC shift-to fit in your pocket more Navy)
Is it install modules GSM (to be a function of the phone), and HSDPA to the UMPC?
thank you sincerely
Here are my requirements:
-Windows (Vista, XP Home, Business, etc. .., not mobile!)
The touch-screen, at least as efficient in the touchscreen (finger to bring web pages)
letter-recognition
-processor than 1.2 mhz
Hard-drive more than 20 GB
Ram-over 256 MB
screen-4 "-to 6" inch
-function phone and a GSM, HSDPA, WI-FI (by kożystać with hot-spots)
-card slot for memory
Yours as a new colleague and I hope to find among mobile Forum posters!

Upon searching, the ultimate mobile pc telephone combo would be the OQO 02 with integrated mobile broadband (evdo rev2) and a majic jack on the usb port. It can run tablet 05 and can utilize a 32 or 64gb ssd on a 1.6ghz cpu. Evdo is about 50/month? and majic jack is $20/yr with unlimited calling from US/Canada to it, and from it to US/Canada for free.
You could not really pocket it unless you had some sort of custom case built. Oqo chassis is mag alloy at 5.6"(W) x 3.3"(H) x 1.0"(D) at 1.0lb. screen lays flat too!
For an actual earpiece as the oqo has a speaker only you could use a bt headset as the majic jack can supposedly use the pc mic and speakers.

OR you can discuss ABONAMENT and SIM. FOR EXAMPLE IN ORANGE OR WODAFONE?
Hello to all,
I just wanted to write some impressions of the Lenovo A820. Probably it is interesting for someone.
I bought it from Etotalk and I have to say they are very fast and reliable, at least for this shipment (it's my first one from the).
I paid it $ 205 with:
Color: White
Memory: 16 GB C6
Case: Protective Case
Adaptor: EU Adaptor (gift)
Battery: Original Battery x 1
For Car: None
Packaging: No logo No word box
Screen Protector: x 1
Shipment cost with DHL $ 34
Fortunately I didn't pay the customs, which is around 20-24 € (Euro it's not a mistake )
I bought the phone of the 9th of June and it arrived on the 13th!!!
It arrived with English/Chinese Rom (most of it in English), I didn't want the Etotalk MOD ROM cause I knew I was going to root it and instal a new Rom
Straight away I put the rom from Needrom (www dot needrom dot com slash mobile slash lenovo indent a820 indent 12 slash). First I installed the V2.2 and then the patch V2.2.1, but didn't like it much cause the translation in Italian, wasn't that good. So i tried the Cappa72 C.P.4.2 V1 Rom which is FANTASTIC.
Translation is perfect! and the phone is really really fast, not only thinking that it didn't cost much...but believe me it's really fast!
Ok let's make a detailed description!

Screen is pretty good, good touch screen, fast response, at the moment very minus defects, if we can call them like that.
No front camera...I really rather use it on my Iphone 4S.
No flash...but photos in the night even with the flash...they never are so great.
At the moment, with Cappa72 Rom, there is the Video problem. When you record a video there is a green strip at the bottom of the screen but I'm sure it will be fixed soon.
The quality of the phone is very good. No noises, no back cover moves, probably slightly to wide but I'm being hyper critical.
Battery seems good, but I need more time to be more detailed.
It's a Dual Sim and I like how it manages it. You can choose from 4 colors for each SIM and in the address book you see which contact is in which SIM by it's color and by the Operator name. Also you can choose to set a primary SIM when you call or choose it on every call from a pop up (the selection can be made from the drop-down menu)
Wifi is fantastic, better that my Iphone 4S. I tried it and where my iphone couldn't get the line (not even seeing it), the Lenovo saw the line and could log in to it with no problems!
Speakerphone, is pretty good, not excellent but you can understand properly and it's quiet loud. The earphone is very good.
I had some problems these first days with the address book. At some point all the contacts disappeared with some regard from me, but I rebooted it and everything was back to normal and now it's a couple of days that it is OK....I will keep an eye on this and keep you informed. I will ask Cappa72 if it is a known problem or just some kind of settling thing.
I don't have a data plan on it cause I'm always on wifi areas and also because i have it on my Iphone. Therefore I cannot judge it from that point.
If anyone needs a suggestion of a phone, even if you don't need a Dual Sim, but doesn't want to spend much and have a really good one....choose the Lenovo A820.
By the way...I just ordered another one  This time black.
Bye bye
Thanks
This is really useful thanks.
I'm a newbie but have unlocked the bootloader and modified my old x10mini. I'm waiting for my a820 to arrive in the next few days, but I have ordered it pre-rooted with the Etotalk Mod installed. I thought this would make it easier to modify the phone if and when I needed as it would be pre-rooted.
I like the sound of the ROM you're using. Do you think the Etotalk Mod might make it more difficult to use the Mod you suggest, or just as easy?
Thanks again.
i bought A820 yesterday, so far so good
I don't know cause I didn't buy it with Etotalk Mod installed, but I suppose it's the same thing. Let me know....
I just bought my phone and looking forward to rooting it. I understand that it will not be rooted and a lot of chinese apps. My experience with Jiayu G3 says that it is better to stick with the stock ROM. Cooked up ROMs always have something missing, not working and generally not tested-debugged properly. Looking forward all the help from friends here

is the OS available to beta for a nokia lumia 820.1 ?
( specs should be covered - but "Nokia's PC suit" doesn't work on Unbuntu's wine )
As that the edge never met its fundraising goal there is no longer a need for this thread.
