MEMORY CARD AND INSTALLING PROGRAMMES - General Topics

I know I posted earlier, but I am unable to delete my previous post! I have another query:
Hi
I have tried installing a programme to my memory card as per the directions on this page:
http://pocketpccentral.net/help/stinstallsdcf_wm5.htm
Unfortunately, some of the programme is determined to install itself on my full pocket PC meaning that I cannot run the programme. I do not get the option on my pocket PC to install to the memory card. When I do select this option on my main PC, it says that the space on my memory card is "unavailable". Do I need to format a new memory card before I use it perhaps.
Any help would be appreciated. I have bought a memory card for the purpose of adding more software and now it seems I cannot do so.
Thank you.

if you put in the sd card you can see it in the pda
and if you can copy files to it you dont need to format it first

I have tried that with no problem but I am having difficulty in installing programs to the memory card. Part of the programs appear on the XDA itself and part on the memory card. Also, when I select to install to the memory card, I do not get a memory allocation - instead I get UNAVAILABLE".
Should the whole program be on the memory card when installed?

HELP: Installing large cab files

I'm having problems installing a program to my storage card. I have enough space on the storage card, but my problem lies in that when installing a file that is larger than my available local storage memory I cannot install it.
For example, if I have 2000kb space available on the internal memory on my Smartphone, I can't install a 2500kb program to the storage card.
Please tell me there's a way to fix this?
Don't install via Active Sync, copy the cab to your SD card. If it still fails, means that that app must be installed on SD ( or have some parts installed on SD )
Thanks! That did the trick

program to format a memory card?

im looking to download the wm6 rom through the memory card. what i wanted to know is if there are any programs out there in which i can format my memory card? thanks.
Format SD Card
If you can insert/connect your memory card to your computer than you can use standard windows format for that (your card will be shown in the disks view > right click > format) and choose FAT32 or any other required format.
Hope this helps.

thanks for your reply. i wasnt able to get my computer to recognize my memory card. but i can see the files under my memory card through the active sync explorer.
i also read a poster on here downloaded a program which allowed them to format their memory card. im still searchin for that post.
It is called Flash Format
I googled 'format storage card windows mobile' and found a program called Flash Format, on CNETX. It has a trial version. I installed it to my device (not the Storage Card, obviously), and it formatted the Storage Card drive to FAT32 in a few seconds.

[Q] Question for MicroSDH data recovery

Background, I had flash the rom CyanogenMod-7.1.0-N1 to my Nexus one with the 16G memory card. As the internal storage is not enough to me to install the apps, I will choose the memory as the primary storage location.
Recently, my phone was power off automatic as battery low, and the memory card was found that it was corrupt after boot. I would like to ask which software I can used to:
1. Backup the whole corrupt memory card before doing any recovery action
2. Recovery the data (photo, music, apps) from the corrupt memory card.
Thanks!

Be it SD card, xD card, MMC card, mini SD or micro SD card, Kernel for Windows Disk Recovery software is competent enough to pull out every lost data from all types of memory cards. It’s not only a memory card recovery tool, but also recovers data from flash and USB drives.

Recovering an "Adopted" SD Card?

Hi folks,
I have an SD card here that I was using for Adopted Storage but I've managed to get it stuck as an "adopted" card and can't seem to get it back functioning as a normal SD card
Long story short... I wiped the device the card was in but I didn't "unadopt" the SD card before hand - as in set it back to portable mode. While the device could recognise there was an SD card afterwards, it couldn't prepare it for use and suggested a card error or something to that effect.
I figured I'd just pop it in my laptop (Windows 10 x64) and re-format it but this didn't work. Failing this, I decided I'd "nuke" it using Minitools Partition Wizard. While this program had better luck identifying the card, could display and delete the partitions on it and could run the Wipe task - it had no effect on the card... the partitions just re-appear after any attempt to nuke them!
Has anyone any ideas about how I can restore this card back to a normal FAT formated SD card?
Just to clarify - I don't care for the data that might be on it... I just want the card back usable
Thanks
Recovering an "Adopted" SD Card?
The best solution for now would be to plug the sd card into a phone with android 6.0 so that the phone can read the card and then while setting it up,you can format the card as "normal "(the part where it asks you whether to use the card as in adaptive storage or for accessing files).

When I try this, I get "Unsupported SanDisk SD card"
I'm then asked to select either Portable or Internal and then Erase & Format but neither work. They fail at 20% and the message "Unsupported SanDisk SD card" is shown again
I'm a bit stumped. I thought surely the encryption used on adopted cards was only to stop external reads. It seems in this case it's stopping me from writing to or formating the card
Running out of options
