Blackberry Connect on a UK unlocked Treo750

HI, i'm very sorry if this has already been asked but I have searched and haven't found a difinitive answer.
I have just bought a treo750 unlocked and not through a carrier such as Vodafone. I have a blackberry enabled sim (from tmobile through my company and was using happily with HTC Universal prevously).
I can't seem to get it to download messages succesfully. After I connect via the desktop connect software, it successfully sends the provisioning info but when the device connects it just drops the connection and says 'not connected (in the status).
What I would like to know is whether this rom: TREO750-1.16-RWE supports the BBConnect or will I need to change the rom to get it to work. I hear the vodafone rom supports it.
If I can't get blackberry to work on the Treo, I will have to return it, so any help will be gratefully recieved. I love this device in every other way, but must have Blackberry as I rely on it for work.
Many thanks in advance.
Sham
Are you on a BES? If not don' t use the desktop sofware.
Try out the attached BB client, please let me know if you can connect with this client.
hi, many thanks for your help. my company has a blackberry server. not sure if this is a BES, but i needed the desktop connect software to get it working with my universal.
thanks for the attachment, will try it tomorrow and lt you know (im out of the office all day today)
thanks again for your help.

Hi georgedorn,
I tried the cab file you kindly attached but with same results as before. It successfully sends the provisioning data but then when it connects to Blackberry via the gprs (gsm) and then it recieves an IP address then says: "not connected" under the status and then disconnects.
I used to get this on the Universal when i used some Rom versions. My
current rom version is:
OS 5.1.195 (build 14995.2.6.3)
Software version: Treo750-1.16-RWE
Firmware Version: 1.27.0b.00
Is your ROM version the same?
Thanks.

Hi sham,
I' m using the 750v with Firmware 1.12.0c.00 and Software TREO750-1.14-VFD.
I had older firmwares before and BB connect was working fine with all. I' m not familiar with the new Treo 750 or the Cingular one. Seems that the only BB capable Treo is the 750v. Even Vodafone who sells the 750 now is only offering BB connect for the 750v, so I guess that the 750 firmware is not able to run a BB client. Maybe they want to force Microsoft Push Email now. Is your company running Exchange 2003 SP2? The Treo is the perfect device for Push Email via Active Sync, you even get your contacts synched wirelessly which is not possible with BB connect right now.
Hi, I flashed my treo with the latest vodafone rom and bbconnect is working fine now!! It must have been a restriction with the unbranded ROM as you said.
Many thanks forall your help, I love this site.
I'm one happy Treo Owner now. The best PPC device i've owned and I can safely say, I've owned a few!

Glad to hear that the Vodafone NL Rom did the trick and that its working now. It' s a great device indeed.

I have installed that very blackberry connect 4.0.
in what language is the rom of vodafone Netherlands???? do you think it could be possible to install it on my spanish palm treo 750v????
can you navigate the net using the blackberry 4.0 rate???
thanks
The Vodafone Netherlands ROM is in english, you can install it on every Treo 750v (losing your spanish language of course). Seems that your ROM is too old to run 4.0, what's its version 1.12.a or 1.12.b?
Yes I can browse the internet via the new BlackBerry browser in the BlackBerry folder in the programs. With BB connect 2.1 you could only use the normal connection via your operators APN and the BlackBerry service stopped. Cool new features especially when you are on a BES!

when you say rom version, do you mean firmware??? if so, my firmware version is 1.12.0a.00
if not, where can I see the rm version???
if my rom version is too old, where can I donwload a newer vodafone rom version which let me use blackberry connect 4.0 properly???
other question is can you listen to the radio through the blackberry connection from your treo??
thanks buddy
Yes I meant the firmware version and yours is 1.12.a which is the first coming out for the 750v. As you have issues it seems that it can' t run BB connect 4.0. The newer Vodafone Netherlands ROM is easy to find in this forum, here is the direct link:
http://rapidshare.com/files/17764237/2007-02-15_Treo_750v_NL.rar
I never tried to listen to internet radio with the BB browser. I would not recommend that, quite sure that you have a 5MB limit or a similar one in your BlackBerry plan, could be an expensive experience

ok thanks,
with this nwe installation i suppose i will lose my warranty, right??? if so, do you kno how can I dump my own rom version and keep it safe just in case i would like to downgrade my treo???
I don' t know how to dump your old ROM, I guess you'll need the original spanish one. Maybe other guys can help here?
Before you flash the ROM: Did you install BB connect on the storage card? It should be installed in the device storage! Did you try a hard reset and then install BB connect again? Any other applications like Active Sync running to sync your contacts, calendar and so on?

I installed it on the device storage memory, not on the minisd card. but i didn´t try a hard reset before it, do you recommend it?
Well before flashing a new ROM without the option to switch back I would try everything to get it to work with the old one. Normally when the ROM does not fit the BB connect client you see that no PIN is generated (PIN pending or something like that). Or you have a PIN but as soon as the client connects to RIM the connection is stopped cause RIM does not accept your device ID.
If you never get a PIN or never a connection to RIM then its definitevely the wrong firmware for the 4.0 client.
Good luck.

it generates a correct PIN and IMEI, but it doesn´t connect at all, and it does not appear the blackberry icon which theorically would let me surf the net using my blackberry service rate. Its installation causes a problem on my today screen as i said before, becasue it makes disappear all the calendar, contacts options,... and when i go to the today-screen configuration it doesn´t let me check again calendar, contacts, owner info,... because they simply don´t exist, they don´t appear as an option, the only option you can check or uncheck is the date, nothing more
what do you think??

can anyone help to translate the upgrading instructions please?????
thanks
ok, don´t worry, I´ve just install the new firmware you told me and everything seems to be fine, except blackberry service 4.0. Now I don´t have the today-screen problem I told you before, the problem is that it does not connect and in the identity:
PIN: Pending
IMEI: Radio Off
IP address: NO connection
does anyone know how can I make it work???
thanks
After flashing the ROM (message "Update Success") you should first do a hard reset. Have you done that?
As you flashed the ROM you have lost your GPRS connection settings. Did you enter the Vodafone Spain GPRS settings in Start>Settings>Connections?
Also make sure by checking the task manager that no Internet Explorer or Active Sync are running in the background.

I just did a soft reset, i´ll try a hard reset right now
After installing BB connect 4.0 again, do a soft reset. Then make sure that the radio is switched on and check your GPRS connection settings. Then tap the BB symbol in Settings System. It will say "Preparing for first use" and after some seconds it will require another soft reset.
I have just hard reset my device and install balckberry connect 4.0 again, reboot it, but still PIN pending and IMEI Radio Off.
I have´t install de GPRS connection settings yet, is it compulsoy to make it work???
I use blackberry as a personal user, not for enterprise. But if I install the blackberry connect 2.0 it just work fine.
It works for BIS (personal Internet Service) and BES (Enterprise). I tried both with this 1.12.0.c firmware without any problems. When it asks for the PIM options (calendar, contacts, etc.) you have checked no checkbox, right? And the Treo is not cradled or connected to your PC via cable, right? And Active Sync or IE are not running in the background, right?

I´ve just followed your instructions, but nothing is resolved yet. The PIN is still pending and the IMEI Radio Off.
Are you on UMTS? Try to switch the band to GSM only.
And check if you really have this at Settings>About>Phone:
Software Version: Palm Build 7, HTC Version 1.16
Firmware Version: 1.12.0c.00
That' s the version which runs BB connect 4.0 without issues, I' ve seen a lot of other postings in other forums of other people using it.
Also make sure that your BlackBerry provisioning at Vodafone Spain is correct.

GPRS/3G Does not connect automatically the first time...

Hi,
I'm pretty familiar with smartphones/pocket pc/windows mobile, but I can't figure this one out...
I picked up a Treo 750 this week and it has the latest WM6.1 ROM and Latest Radio firmware.
For some reason, it will not connect to GPRS/EDGE/3G data on its own. It gives an error about not being able to connect, to which you can then click "dismiss". If I then go to data connections and edit the connection and just click next, next, finish - data will work fine - until the phone is reset and you start over again...
I've tried WM5, 6 and 6.1 ROMS and 5 different radios and they all do the same thing...
Anyone?

I have a bit different problem, but seems like yours.. sometimes, it doesnt try to connect, no failure message, but no try, my resolution is having spb gprs monitor, which i ever used, even i had this problem... in this case, only click connect and everything is ok... sometimes it doesnt connect or says message like yours on my other HTC XDAs (9000,9100....) but spb solved it everytime...
aaischa, I tried SPB but no luck...
Interestingly, I tried downgrading to WM5 and it works fine with that...
Anyone else having this problem?
Ok, so I ended up making a Mortscript to automatically connect. I attached it to this message in case anyone else needs it...

thanks, I had e the same problem
if only connect.mscr could run by itself
It would be great if connect.mscr could run when ever our treo's with hermes radios lost service. Mine with 154.07.00 once it looses service completely will not reconnect. If this script could run when the unit is not connected say every 10 minutes or so life would be good.
I have the same problem. Running 6.1 on the Telecom XT network in New Zealand...simply going into connections (as it says in the first post) and not doing anything solves it, but it is annoying. Any better solutions?
Radio: 1.56.70.11
ROM: WM6.1 (Treo750_OS5_2_19199WWE_STD)

8125 keeps losing connection - needs reboot

I have an 8125 with the XDA Mobile 6 Release 5 FINAL ROM and the 5.1 update. I used the Cingualr GPRS CAB and the phone works, but when I try to download Outlook email, if downloads a few messages and then the connection is lost. No phone connection, nothing. If I reboot it usually works again.
Anyone know what might be wrong?
I have disassembeld to replace the case but seemed to work fine for a while.
I did try a few diferent ad ins and had a lot a problems so I reflashed T-moible 2.26, the XDA ver5 and 5.1 updates all over agian an added nothing new, but still having problems with nexpected reboots and this lost connection problem.
Thanks
