Looking for Special Ringtone - General Topics

Sorry, I realize I might take a hit for asking, but....I did search.
I've been looking for an mp3 of 'Midsommer Murders'....well I've found a couple of UK sites to get it free...but they require a UK IP address...I have never heard of such a thing. Any way..does anyone have the theme to this show?
Thanks
Teresa

Well, if you posted the link to a site that had it for free, perhaps someone (I wouldn't because you are not making it easy for someone to help you) would be kind enough to download it and send it to you.

Never heard of a UK IP address? We have the internet here too you know.

i use mosquito sound Ringtone.
Mosquitone
The Mosquito tone is a very high pitched tone that can generally only be heard by teenagers and is being used as a ringtone.
To find out about the origins see this BBC article Firm's Ringtone 'Next Crazy Frog'
Link >>> http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/5077026.stm

good found...... i can hear it.... .. so i'm going to use......
(but i downloaded it after google'ing..... the above download does not acctually have the valid file... can you plz check TuiLor!)

Oh man.. I get headache listening to it...
The above attachment is not working. Don't borther downloading it.
Get it here
http://www.bbc.co.uk/wiltshire/audio/mosquito_sound.mp3
http://graphics.nytimes.com/packages/audio/nyregion/20060610_RINGTONE.mp3
Warning, first lower your volume and gradually increase it
Update: It is a great concept. However, the two of the sample above aren't very clean. The first one seems to have some background sound while the second one isn't pulsing. Hence I've cooked up my own 15kHz -17kHz 0.1 sec pulse version. It is a WAV file for loseless quality. If you were to play with your PC, make sure you have those audio processor/enhancement disabled. I did it for 15kHz because I can hardly hear 17kHz (I'm 27+). Any youngester wanted to try higher can generate those sound yourself using this software

It's great that you know what to look for and have a knack for searching. Try to be patient with those who have less innate talent. I'm finding it's this very skill (intent) that seems to make the really smart people I know successful, too.

Really????? Maybe my Google is kicked up a notch, dunno. I pasted TimeWizard.exe into Google and the very first item listed was what golfernutnflorida posted...
This is not the "Timewizard.exe" that he is looking for, but is "My-Time-Wizard" which is a PC app that installs unwanted crap in Iexplorer.
Did You Get any joy in finding the file "Timewizard.exe"? as i have had no luck in tracking it down. the link that golfernutnflorida posted is bogus and is a PC app' with backdoor installers in it. There must be sombody out there who has it or can get it out of a rom???
Here you go
Find attached the TimeWizard.exe file I pulled out of my TNT4 rom.
Hope this is what all the fuss was about...

Are there any mp3 player apps?...

... that have a button to skip forward/backward 5-10 seconds with a single button press?
Google's Listen app does this, but unfortunately cannot play mp3s downloaded outside of the app.
TouchMusic can kind of do this, but... it's just a horrible app...
Anyone know of an app that does this?
Doesn't the default app do this? if you hold down the buttons instead of pressing quickly.

Holding is not a button press. I specifically said button press for a reason
Also, I'm on the Desire ROM which doesn't have the holding functionality anyway.

Ok seriously people. This is EXACTLY what I was talking about just a few days ago: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6003685#post6003685
I am asking for a very simple and specific request. Please stop telling me to do other things which are obviously not what I asked in the original post. Jesus F'ing Christ!!
GAH!!!
Using the bar to move backward 10 seconds in a 90 minute file is frustrating and almost impossible, especially when driving, running, or any other time when I don't want to fiddle around with trying to move the bar one tenth of a millimeter.
Does anyone have any input on the actual question that I asked?
sorry no.. if you find one let me know please.. i am looking also.. the built in app is crap.
no equilizer..
no effects...
no add to playlist other than one song at a time.. etc. etc.
the music player in my older i8910 is much better.

Sounds like you are looking for a mp3 player that might cater more toward audio books/ podcasts.
I needed something similar recently, I think AudioBook Player or MortPlayer Audio Books might do the trick. If those don't work, check other apps that handle audio books in mp3 format.

I've never "understood" the appeal of podcasts, so I wasn't aware they don't even have the decency to organize them neatly for listeners.

[APP] NameBuzz - A new concept for Caller ID, and SMS ID.

Hey Guys,
Was hoping for a bit of constructive feedback. Wrote an app called NameBuzz:
A new concept in incoming Caller ID and SMS ID technology. Silently know who's calling, without your phone leaving your pocket!
- Vibrate pattern based on syllables in contact name
- Create custom vibrate patterns per contact
- Speak contact name out loud
- Vibrate on call end
- Press volume key to disable during call
Click to collapse
The idea is that with only 5 or so people calling you regularly, their syllables should be enough for you to differentiate between people. And if not, you can always create a custom vibrate pattern for that contact!
As an extra, it also allows you to set up speaking caller ID - for the situations where you don't need your phone to be silent!
You can install with the following link:
NameBuzz Install
It's only tested in English for the time being, and on a Nexus One and Desire Z (HTC Vision).
If anyone gives it a go, feel free to let me know what you think!
Cheers,
Daz.

Although, Cyrket does always seem more up to date.
Nice app! If only the voice was more enjoyable not so roboty if possible. The buzzing will take some time to learn, especially if you have friends with similar names..
AIM mobile IM = buzzing out of control!

I think it should be fairly intuitive, as you can work out the number of syllables, and then the name. I would use the testing function a little to familiarise yourself.
AIM mobile IM = buzzing out of control!

This shouldn't buzz out of control, it will be the pattern of:
Buzz-Pause-Buzz-Buzz-Pause-Buzz - and then repeat.
AIM-space- Mob -ile -space-IM
So AIM = 1 syllable
Mobile = 2 syllables
IM = 1 syllable.
And I put little breaks in to break up words. Does that make sense?
could always use morse code for the vibrate patterns
I think I will try this.

Yeh, the problem with morse code is that it would take forever to spell out a name entirely. Plus, someone has already done this. Look for "MorseRing".

Awesome, thanks! However, I guess you should warn people I've only tested this in english, and I coded the text-to-syllable engine to only really work with english letters. Hence, I'm not really sure how it will perform in german! Special accented characters that should be treated as syllable indicators probably won't get picked up...
Let me know if you give it a go, would be interested to know if it's really bad, or just not perfect!

Thanks for the offer, unfortunately, it's a little more tricky than that. I use certain knowledge about english to turn words into a number of syllables. Hence, it's not really a translation as such. I will have a think... if I can make into a translatable list, I will be sure to let you know!!

Is it just me or is this App no longer available in the Market? I've tried numerous barcodes and looked under Tools but only get told the app cannot be found.
Is there an actual install file available I can download so I can install this manually? I had it on my phone but my phone died and took the program with it.

I think I found the problem with this app not showing up in the Market for me. My phone was missing an update and once I performed it, NameBuzz showed up and installed without a glitch.
Great app. Makes phone calls a little easier to screen.
NameBuzz 1.2 now available:
- Works in collaboration with in-built ringer state. If your phone is in silent, it won't vibrate/speak, if in vibrate mode, it will vibrate but not speak, etc...
- Disabled during Call Waiting - simply provides call waiting tone rather than vibrating.
- Add custom speech text (ie. Incoming Call from Joe Bloggs)
- Added ability to set silent ringtone.

[APP] Megavideo - finally on your Android! (NO flash required)

hello guys, i'm one of the Megavideo application developer. let me say something about the current situation.
Megavideo asked us to remove our application because it lacked some key features, such as an integrated video player and other things. we are currently working on their implementation, so a new version of the application is expected to be released sooner or later. unfortunately, we can't give you any kind of ETA, because these features are very hard to do.
one more thing. we know that many of you still have the 0.64 version of the application, which isn't working anymore. that is not our fault: Megavideo.com changed a bit its systems, so the application is incompatible with it. the fix is pretty straightforward, but we cannot release a temporary one, we have to work on the official until it's completed! sorry for that..
anyway, if you want more informations, or if you have got any questions or if you even want to help us, please visit us at MegaDevs or send us a mail at [email protected]
we are very fast in answering, so please write us guys, we do really need your collaboration!
cheers
Sebastiano
MegaDevs team
The Megavideo application has been taken down and removed from the Android Market.
This is because Megavideo asked us to remove it: we will have to fulfill some more specifications and to grant its quality.
We actually don't know WHICH specifications and WHAT quality, but we have to follow their directives. We are truly sorry for this inconvenience, please mind that this is not up to us.
We will keep you informed about any news or further development that will lead to a re-publishing of the application through our website http://megavideo.megadevs.com.
Thanks for your understanding.

the concept of our application is slightly different. with Megavideo you can actually download videos, that is to say, you can watch them offline.
what is more, if you start download and then press "Play" while you're still downloading, you can stream the video!
hope this explains the whole thing better
Do I understand correctly that you are not the official team behind the Megavideo company itself? I'd like to confirm this.

Yes, you are right. Anyway, we are constantly in direct contact with Megavideo company, in order to get the official endorsement for this application.
Because of that, we are going to provide user support and important updates (as I am writing, a critical update has been released). Please note that this is still a BETA version, but the main functions should work without problems.
We are open to any kind of suggestion and errors feedback. This is very important to help us improving the application!
