qtek 2020i - where did all my stored data go? - General Topics

my battery was getting low and beeping at me and i wasnt in a position to charge it, and wouldnt have the charger for a couple days. so i figured i would need the phone the next day for a few minutes and would take out the battery to save the "juice". when i put battery back in the next day, all my data was gone. i do remember a screen coming up and for me to set time, ect and after i did that, i saw all my phone numbers and contacts, text and picture messages and saved folders were nowhere to be seen. i called vodaphone but they said it was gone forever...is this true?It doesnt seem possible that with such an expensive phone used for business, that all data would dissapear when the battery is taken out! please, anyone can you help me get this data????

"Wireless Radio Must be attached to use Phone

Hi & Thanks,
Been using my XDAll for the past few years, had to get the new Flame.
Had a few days, getting used to it, battery ran down. No biggie,
put it back on the charger. After few hours turned it on, just blue
O2 screen, turned it off, back on & half the screen had data, the bottom
half was empty. Shut it off & did hard restart. After coming up, the phone
would not connect. Error message - A wireless radio must be attached -
have done everything & can not get it back. Had not picked up a mem
card no backup and upon resync to pc, the sync data deleted itself, was
in disbelief. SIM ok, rest of unit looks ok, can not find Phone program in
Windows, No IMEI # only small boxes. Does anyone have any ideas ??
Thanks
Take it back and get a new one.

PLEASE HELP - Phone Frozen On Windows Mobile Screen

Hello
My phone is an 02 XDA (HTC POLARIS) - it has a great value to me in terms of contacts, texts etc, so much so that I cant really afford to lose them.
My mobile battery ran out whilst I was on a call. When I plugged it in again and went to turn the phone on;
It flashes on the blue O2 screen
Then
Flashes on to the Windows mobile screen.
Then
The 'In-call' volume screen appears on the Windows Mobile screen and nothing else happens - it is frozen, stuck, wont go any further - I have asked it nicely to be good, turned it on/off a million times, cried and contemplated life without my contacts and couldn't cope without a stiff drink.
O2 will gladly send it off to restore it to factory default, just as if it were new out of the box with all my contacts and texts gone forever I have checked the forum and I reckon I could more than likely do this myself.
I have tried the battery out overnight and i have tried any number of 'soft' reset's, but without any move or difference.
BUT
THERE MUST BE A GENIUS OUT THERE IN THE VIRTUAL WORLD WHO CAN HELP ME GET PAST THE SCREEN AND RETAIN MY CONTACTS or JUST ALLOW ME TO GET THE TEXTS N CONTACTS AND SOD THE PHONE.
Whilst I cannot offer a substantial reward, you will save me from a miserable few months reconciling my contacts and I will be forever grateful - I can offer you the very best in financial Advice for free and I will buy you a pint in NW England or fax you one anywhere else in the world.
Thanks for reading and if you can help, that would be SUPERB.
Cheers
Jeff Hill
PS - I would quote my number, but I cant turn my phone on.....grrrrrr

A few gripes maybe you guys can remedy.

Hey everybody,
I am a reformed iPhone loser, I had the original 2G, got the 4 for about a week and a half on release, and a good friend of mine talked me into returning it for a captivate and I have been hooked on droids ever since. I am an IT guy by trade and a tinkerer in general so Android is perfect for me. Found this site and haven't looked back.
Recently my company put me on their verizon plan and I opted for the Charge as I have been very happy with my Galaxy phone from Samsung. My company is cool and doubt they would mind me throwing custom ROMs on this beast, I just have to build up the courage to risk the warranty on this thing. Anyway, now that my overly long introduction has been done, here are a few gripes I've found so far and hopefully you guys can help me with.
The basics (non development related)
1.) I love the factory e-mail app, the fact it handles both my corporate and gmail in one central app is nice. However, the Gmail app still takes priority for whatever reason and all my gmail mail goes to that, but if I manually press refresh on the e-mail app, it will load. I have tried to uninstall the Gmail app but as you all know, it's embedded.
2.) My cappy handled threaded texts very well, my charge seems to break up the bubbles by pages like a normal phone would. I will get seperated messages all the time, hate that.
3.) I get a lot of double text messages, no clue why.
4.) My SD card has already corrupted, I took a picture yesterday, clicked on the small thumbnail in the corner and deleted it from there, all of a sudden all of my pictures turned to small grey boxes with ? symbols. The phone still detected the card and displayed the storage space, but I kept getting a notification the card was damaged. Eventually I formatted it, but then couldn't get it to mount. I physically removed the card and the battery and let the phone sit for 2-3 minutes, then put it back in, and after media scanning, the card was working again. I could then take pictures, and store them normally again.
5.) Random data droppage, from 3G to 1x to nothing, then back to 3G. Never had so many time outs on the web browser before. The WiFi also seems to be pretty bad, sitting next to my router at home, I was getting 1-2 bars?
Development related
1.) Like I said, I haven't even attempted anything yet, but from my initial reading it seems like Samsung and VZW have teamed up to make it more difficult to get root on these phones. On my cappy a simple .zip installation through recovery could get root, but to have to flash a kernel to get root, seems risky and unnecessary.
Hopefully this phone will grow on me as I start to explore the third-party stuff more, I know custom ROMs on my cappy made the phone a completely different beast.
Thanks,

Glad to have u on board with the Charge! Ok to address some of ur issues, the one issue that I seem to have in common with u would be the signal dropping. That has to be the most annoying thing. Its not something I can pinpoint myself, but I would guess it has to be something to do with a faulty antenna in the phone or maybe some issues with the towers. I've taken it up wit VZW and there isnt anything they could do except send me a replacement, which STILL has the reception issues.
Another thing u will notice is that sometimes ur data reception just wont return AT ALL. pulling the sim card and battery for a few mins solves this issue.
When it comes to developement, rooting this phone is as easy as u would think. Flashing a kernel with Odin isn't a pain at all. Very simple. Flash the recovery, then kernel to lock the recovery in. From there, flashing via CWM is easy. U know the drill comin from a Captivate I assume.
Hopefully some of this helps u out man! Don't be scared to take the plunge!!!!

Welcome to the droid charge. for your email problem, open the settings app, scroll to accounts and sync, select your gmail and then uncheck sync gmail. now go to the email app, open your gmail, press menu, press account settings and check email notifications. now go into email check frequency and put it at what youd like.
The data drop problem happens to me maybe once every few months and it will be fixed in the gingerbread update with the new radio software. your sd card problem appears to be solved. the double messages would be solved by downloading a third party messaging app or doing a data wipe (in settings>privacy>factory data reset) but that will wipe everything except for your email and contacts and you may get some of your apps back automatically but for the most part you would have to reinstall redownload them manually
Kernels arent very risky because there is almost no way to file brick this. there is a full odin which will completely bring it back to stock. also if you get a voodoo kernel (almost every kernel) you get improvements to your phone's sound quality, you get root and you get the option to change it from the laggy samsung rfs filesystem to ext4 filesystem which results in faster boot times, faster media scanning, faster app opening, and pretty much everything gets a small speed boost.
Thanks for all the help guys!
I took the plunge yesterday and flashed Humble 1.5.1 using ODIN, other than having it scare the **** out of me twice by failing before I realized I had to put the battery back in once in download mode, it passed with flying colors and I now love this phone so much more. All my problems seem to be solved with this new ROM too, no more double texts, no more email problems, data seems to be more stabile too.
It's faster, it's simpler, it's not doo doo brown, and it's way better on battery. Looking forward to being apart of this community and trying out all the ROMs.

I actually loled at that last sentence.
The data going in and out has been a problem for everyone on every rom at some point. It's a Samsung/Verizon issue. The quick fix is to go into airplane mode for a few seconds, then turn it off. BTW Imnut's just released an update for his kernels a few days ago that has improved performance fairly well, so look into flashing an updated kernel.

[Q] Push notifications are not working on HD7

Hi all,
I own an HD7 device with DFT ROM 7720 (Mango).
When I bought my device, the push notifications worked fine.
A few months ago I started experiencing some weird behavior of the Push notifications service.
When I'm supposed to receive a push notification, there is a 95% chance that I will receive it in a about 15 minutes instead of right away.
In about 5% of the push notification I receive, I get them immediately to my phone.
This is frustrating because I cannot use any push notifications software (I have to hit refresh every time to receive notifications).
This has happened to me before I had the Custom ROM by DFT, it happened with Mango shipped ROM as well.
I tried the followings to solve the problem:
1. Re-install my ROM.
2. Use Shipped ROM instead.
3. Reset to factory defaults.
4. Switch between Data connection (Cellular) and Wifi.
Did anyone experienced the same problem? If so, did you solved it?
Thanks,
Lidan.
mine works with e.g. whatsapp, mail, but twitter push isn't working.
Wich push isn't working at you??? (app)
I would guess by the fact it's 15 minutes means it will be all apps that aren't working for push. When the phone can't maintain a push channel (as seems to be the case with yours) it 'falls back' to polling the push server every 15 minutes to check if it's missed any messages. Pre-mango that used to be every 60 minutes.
One thing to make sure of (you've probably already checked this) is that the battery level is more than around 30% as that can affect push reliability (the phone can turn the push channel off when the phone transitions into a lower power state).
Another thing to try is to take the battery and sim card out and leave it like that overnight and then put it all back together the next day. Other people have said this kind of 'power cycling' helps when push isn't working.
Microsoft said in one forum it may also be down to some mobile phone operators cutting off the push channel data connection too quickly - but I don't know how true that is, or if there's anything you can do about it (maybe worth ringing them). The other thing you might try (make sure you put all the original stuff on first) is HTC customer care - I needed to use them recently (touch screen failed) and they were fantastic.
Mango seems to have made push a lot more reliable for most people so it's a shame it's had the opposite effect for you. It was very unreliable when WP7 first came out for a lot of people - it would work ok whilst the screen was on and other connections were being used, but if you left it (i.e. to go into standby with the screen off for a few minutes) push would stop working / the channel would be lost. I guess you have already but maybe worth reinstalling all the original shipped rom, and double checking you've got exactly the same spl / radio / etc. that it shipped with, and then just using the official updates via zune to get to Mango just in case the custom rom affected something.
I hope you manage to fix it.
Ian
I'm having the same issue with my HD7. I know that push worked at one time. But it is not now. Any solutions out there?
same problem with me, On lumia 800, funkyrom, fb twitter whatsapp push notification not workinh

[Q] Strange situation, need you guys help

Recently I have changed my SIM Card to my other phone, which is Xperia Arc S. Since I had to take out the battery to plug in the SIM, the phone automatically reset the date back to 1980. And I didnt change the time and date in the phone.
A few minutes ago I receive message from friends, but when I scroll down the notification bar to open the message, I cant read it. I mean it's like the phone identified those message as back from 1980 and therefore it seemed to put those messages somewhere else and not in the right place of message box.
After this I changed the time and date but the message still didnt show up. Since I usually work with many important clients, I hope that anyone can help me fix this problem so I can read those message
