Tornado is not design for the MDA Vario/Wizard - HTC Tornado

I want to thank you for the Tornado cab file and the idea of installing A2DP on my TMO MDA, it's something that should have been available by now by TMO. I know that the Tornado is not really designed for the Wizard, but your right it does work! I also have the upgraded 2.17 ROM which works great. But after complete and thourough experimentation with the Tornado A2DP, the MDA, and the HT820 the Stereo sound is terrible.
8) I successfully followed the installation instructions. Of course you do not see any real changes, except those done to registry, until you buy a BT Stereo Headset. Then you see the [ ] Wireless Stereo option. I also confirmed WITHOUT Tornado's A2DP, you don't get the "Wireless Stereo" option, but you can get sound on your HT820, if your patient and waste enouph time clicking the connect button, or smart enouph to use a utility called BTSoundON, but the sound you get will be mono on sterroids. However, with Toranados' A2DP you DO get STEREO, but the quality is not very good!
At first I thought maybe the HT820 was possibly not a very good BT headset. The sound was low, although volume was as high as possible, and the bass was not very good. This was testing Mp3's at 128kbs. So I tested A2DP using TCPMP, and it obviously made a big difference with the HT820 especially playing around with the equilaizer and preamp boosters, settings.
Then I put the HT820 headset to the test. I swaped the HT820 and the mini Stereo Headphones included with MDA. I did this in critical guitar moments of some music, and it was obvious that the stereo quality was much superior with the mini Jack Stereo Headset. In every case, with every song, the mini Jack Stereo Headphones won heads up, and actually made the HT820 sound terrible.
But was it the HT820, or the Tornado A2DP? I connected the HT820 to my BT dongle on my windows XP. The sound blew me away, it was AWESOME on the HT820. As a matter of fact I was able to walk half way across the house and still got music from PC. Furthermore, I was able to receive a cell call on MDA, while listening to music on the PC, and the BT820 handled it incredible, also confirming that it could work on two seperate paired devices, incredible experience!
My humble conclusion: The HT820 is a solid BT Stereo Headset that has incredibly good sound when tested with softeware that supports it. Games sound incredible on the MDA with Tornado's A2DP. But not sure if just using BTSoundOn and not A2DP would give same results with games. TCPMP deffinatly makes a BIG diference on the MDA with Tornado's A2DP and HT820 Stereo. But I will be happy when TMO or some Developer comes up with the official Wizard/Vario A2DP.
Thanks for the memories anyway, I will keep the A2DP on MDA for now, incase I find myself in a situation where I don't have the mini Jack Headphones available. And I will defenetly keep the HT820 cause they sound awesome on PC, and great combination of Music on PC and Cell calls from MDA.

Interesting post. I've got the HT820 on order and it should be here next week sometime. ITMT I'm using HP FA303's with my 8125 (Wizard) and the sound is terrific! Which, of course, leads us to a conundrum:
given:
HT820 is a great sounding BT Stereo headset
FA303 is a great sounding BT Stereo headset based on the fact that it sounds great on Wizard
Therefore, one would think that the HT820 should sound great on a Wizard too....
I guess I'll just have to wait and see.... I'll test the two headsets side by side when it arrives.
Something you could try would be to lift the relevant DLLs off the Qtek Beta Rom which had A2DP. Those would be Wizard specific for sure.

The HT820 does sound great on the Wizard -- I installed the Tornado A2DP hack on my Qtek 9100 earlier today. FWIW, the HT820 also sounds great on the Blue Angel (which is why I bought the 820 in the first place).

A2DP Volume Control

I have an i-mate Jasjar and recently purchased the GlobalSat entertainment bundle (receiver and BT transmitter) to listen to music wirelessly. I like the way it works, but of course now want to see about upgrading to one of the A2DP roms.
My question is regarding volume:
On PPC devices I have owned, unlike Palm, the overall sound volume determines what goes to your headphones. So you cannot mute your device and have the sound come out of the headphones. My concern is that I now have to keep the volume on my device turned up high to be able to listen to music via bluetooth with A2DP. Is that correct? I'm concerned that if there is a glitch with transferring the music via Bluetooh I'll end up having music blaring out of my JasJar (which has unfortunately happened to me already when my headphone jack has become unplugged!)
Can anyone confirm/try this? Thanks!
When my universal is on vibrate the sound via A2DP is still fine, and is controlled via the software volume control, ie WMP. This has fooled me on occasion, when i disconnected my A2DP headphones, expecting the sound to transfer to the speakers, and then not heard anything. I would then find I had placed my universal on vibrate much earlier in the day.

Just curious, which a2dp rom did you use?
The Qtek AKU2 one.

HTC TyTN AD2P Issues.. ?

Hey Guys,
I have both the MDA Vario with the Mr. Clean rom and the new HTC TyTN.
Both are paired with my Jabra BT-620s stereo headset. (not at the same time)
With the HTC TyTN I have nothing but hickups while playing a simple MP3 from memory.
The MDA-Vario plays the music fluent and witout any hickups..
All things have been tried, distance, open or closed keyboard, etc, etc.
Both units are hard-reset and empty.
I have compared the registry settings on both machines and made the HTC Tytn the same as my MDA-Vario, but the hickups keep appearing. (Some small dword settings altered).
On my qtek 9000 the Jabra works fine without any hickups.
Are there any other users with a stereo bluetooth headset having these problems?
I'm a bit worried since the unit has no 2.5 of 3.5mm headset plug, having a BT stereo headset was my saviour.. :-(
Thanks,
Rudi
I am using my TyTN with a Platronics 590A stereo headset and I ma not having any issues.

Hi,
You said you are using the tytn with the 590A plantronics bluetooth headset and no problems? you are telling me the sound quality is good---even when it's with drums and bass? and you have no hiccups? did you alter any settings?
I am using PLantronics 640 (mono) and it is all good
I have a cab file in the TYTN forum that you may download and try (it improves the quality settings (and disables voice command) but in the thread I have written the regsettings that you may wanna take a look at ...
If you, after you changes the settings, feel that it is stutteringm, lower the quality setting, from 58 to like 40 or similar then you got longer range but the sound quality degrades a little (in a mono headset it doesn't really matter )

Unfortunately, as has also been pointed out in my latest A2DP / AVRCP compatibility-related article ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=279459 ), some A2DP headphones are not compatible with some PDA models. For example, my 590A isn't compatible with the x51v and the HTC Universal and the A2DP on the HTC Wizard is pretty ****ty ... (fortunately, I too have the hx4700 to listen to music)

What Bluetooth Headsets work with the TyTN?

I have tried 2, Moto H500 and H700 and they both do not work with my TyTN. My car bluetooth connection had no problems.
My radio version is 1.03.03.10
moto ht820 works
The motorola HT820 works perfectly with my Trion. Especially with the A2DP improvement hack the sound is really clear play pause fwd rew all work and with assigning voice command to work with the call button works as well. Only thing I cant get working is Skype over the bluetooth headset. I assume when skype is loaded the profile thinks it is a Stereo profile so the mic doesn't work, Does anyone know a registry hack to enable the headset p[rofile with programs suh as skype?
Jabra BT250 is working perfect.
Please note there is a dedicated TyTN forum now, you can stop using general.
iTech S38 Clip Headset works good... even the A2DP is good without breaking up or crackling noise.
nextlink bluespoon working just fine here...

BlueAnt X5 works good
HI guys,
I just bought a Blueant X5 headset and it works great with the Hermes with no probs. no skipping, excellent quality, able to dial/answer calls while listening to music, control WM player through the heaset (play, stop, next prev, etc)
Cheers,
EDIT: I returned as one of my speakers sounded squelchy (like my old CB radio days). Too bad they didnt have any more in stock so i got a refund. Other than that, it worked fine.

Bluetooth headset.

What bluetooth headsets will work with the touch diamond?
other question: why should there be any headsets not working?
i have a really cheap but nice looking samsung headset, no problem to get paired with the diamond. should work with any other headset, too!?
My existing is just a cheap iTouch bluetooth headset and it works perfectly.
I don't think Diamond has any problem to work with other brands.
I have an old Motorola Bluetooth headset (4 Years) and it will not pair with my Diamond. Looks like its time to upgrade to a Jawbone!! hehehe
i have the jabra bt3030
its a stereo bluetooth headset working on A2DP
works great and looks awesome!!
So can I listen to music through any bluetooth headset (that has headsets to play music)?
My Plantronics P590 works like a charm

Here you go!

Theres a app called btAudio (keep a google-eye open for newer versions) that does exactly this, it will send ALL sound to the headset, despite of what windows had in mind for the sound (as in if it was gonna use headset or build-in speaker)
Tho, it sometimes chokes when you dont shut down the app before you disable the bluetooth headset or phones bluetooth function, but i guess that kinda makes sense (its even sayd in the program to not do that, but im a sucker for trying such things hehe)
And another thing, this happend for me too (taken from comments on some site, linked below)
The program runs well however if you try to make a phone call with the blue tooth ear piece while the program is active the program is not available after the call is completed.
I had to reset my phone to enable the program again. - source of comment
Guess thats related to windows not being to happy theres multiple apps using the headset, lets hope for a next version which auto-disables when calling and re-enables when u hang up.
I'm waiting for this one (Jabra BT530, due end August according to Play.com)...
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/16778.htm
Got the manual that Jabra put up on their support site for a day or two before taking it off. Manual says it also supports A2DP and can stream music.
And what about battery life? Could somebody using bluetooth stereos write how long the Diamond can last, and what is the overall impact on battery life while listening to music?
I use this headset, its got very good sound and is also nice and comfortable, since i have my tragus peirced i cant wear "normal" headphones!
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-DRBT20...6?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1216998998&sr=8-6
It also works on my pc and my PS3 as a wireless headset/mic!
I have proper enclosed stereo headphones Dell DH-200 with volume control, next and previous track plus play/pause buttons and it all works fine with HTC DT. The only think I am not sure about is which profile it is using, the sound is not as good as when I have it paired with my laptop, which would suggest a low speed profile as opposed to HQ.
You can change the bluetooth profile in Schap's Advanced Config. I've set bitpool to 70, max to 76 and min to 64. Now the sound quality is waaay better.
I can't connect my Jabra 320's (worked with SE W880i) to BT Stereo, it only see's the headphones as a handsfree unit on the HTC
Jawbone. Nothing else comes close (for hands free anyway!). And the new one even matches the Diamond... sort of!
Has anyone suffered the sound periodically dropping out for a second or two, mainly during the first minutes of connection but still persisting now and again several tracks down the playlist?

Problems with bluetooth interface for car audio

Hello, first of all please excuse my English, I am from Germany and I try to ask for some help here.
I bought this nice little toy named Topaz a few weeks ago. Yesterday I added a bluetooth interface from Blaupunkt for my car audio "Blaupunkt Milano MP34".
Its just an extension for the missing bt ability of the radio. For handsfree and A2DP profiles.
After connecting, it works great and with the external mike I can manage phone calls via car laoudspeakers.
A2DP also works, but here is the problem: there is no auto-connection of A2DP like the handfree-profile autoconnects the car unit and the Topaz after ignition.
Every time I have to connect it manually:
- after an ended phone call
- after starting the engine even when the interface is connected
This is very very annoying, inconvenient and tedious, after a phone call the manual connection while the car is running is even dangerous.
My question: Is there any software or a plugin to make an automatic connection for the A2DP profile when the ignition gets on??
Thank you very much in advance....
greetings from Cologne, Germany, yours Wolfgang
I have exactly the same issue, see my post here for improving the a2dp quality. I haven't managed to fix the re-connection issue but as a work around I have installed this app and have maped it to one of the hardware buttons. So now i just have to hold the button and the a2dp connection fires up!! Hope it works ok for you.
Would be interested to know if anyone else has had the a2dp re-connection issue and if they've fixed it. It only happens in the car as described by porzerwolle, my bluetooth headset re-connects every time!
G
thank you very much, for the tool and the information. It seems to be impossible to auto-reconnect the device with a BT radio or BT interface.
I'm using "A2DPSwitch" for a while and it works perfect. I set it on button1 "hold long" and I can switch between device and BT interface with a one-button-push now.
In matter of fact, my Plantronics BT headset 590E (it is very, very good!!) autoconnects Handsfree within seconds, and connects A2DP immediately when I push the play/pause button. In the Windows Media Player, the Blaupunkt interface supports AVCRP!! I can use NextTitle, TitleBefore, Play/pause, Fast Forward & Fast Rewind!!!
Sound quality of Plantronics is perfect, like wired unit, but quality of BT transmission between Blaupunkt and Diamond² is inacceaptable caused by extreme static noise - worse than an FM Transmitter.....
Wanted to use the S2P for this, but the sound quality via BT is poor and lousy....
In the moment, I use Pocket Player 3.6, not so comfortable as S2P, but it works..... there I have a ten-band EQ and the possibility to control Master Volume
I will try this registry settings, but when there is no improvement, I will decide to buy the BRODIT active car charger with a 3-in-1 adapter and manage the sound output via AUX-IN by the Blaupunkt radio input.
Let us know how you get on with the registry settings. I too have a Blaupunkt head unit, an OEM one mind, but noticed a huge difference after modifying the registry.
G
do you have a Blaupunkt "headset" or an interface for the car radio??
Never seen a headset manufactured by Blaupunkt.....
I will tell you if there is any improvement after changing the registry. Will do this on the next weekend bc I'm very busy in the moment.
I have this adaptor connected to my blaupunkt head unit in the car.
Just to inform that it works perfectly on my side with my Audi A4 B8 and the audi built in bluetooth system... lucky me
I haven't add any third party software on my D2
mmm, it doesn't connect to my BMW X3 built in bluetooth, my former device (Polaris - cruise) did it seamlessy
Any fix known to improve compatibility?
Thx
now I changed the registry settings for BT stacks as told in the thread. Before i installed HD tweak and changed the settings for BT audio, the value for SampleRate were preinstalled by HD Tweak for 48000! I erased the two values and the Plantronics seems to be louder and more brilliant....
will test the changes on Blaupunkt interface tomorrow because today my car is not available.....but I think the reason for the hiss may be the low BT input signal on BT in the radio.
will tell you if there is any improvement. Thanks a lot in advance!
Greetz from Cologne, Wolfgang
now there is a little improvement in audio bt quality, less hiss and noise, but still there is some. I can't understand but maybe the bt input signal is too low.
in the moment it is working so I'm a little satisfied with the changes.
Don't know exactly in the moment if to keep in in this state or to switch to aux-in input with hiding the necessary cables and wires inside the car's cockpit.....
maybe will check out several bt car radios at my dealer to know if there are some devices which are able to produce noise- and hissfree bt audio.
today I tried BT connection both for HF and A2DP on a colleague's car with a SONY radio MEX-BT2600.
The difference was amazing! I was impressed by a perfect, noisefree BT audio output, very very loud and a HF phone call in perfect quality.
I think I will decide for another car audio device. Meanwhile, I'm very disappointed by Blaupunkt BT quality.
Out of interest porzerwolle, did the A2DP streaming re-connect ok on the SONY?
no, it didn't, the same as in the Blaupunkt interface: no auto-reconnect.
The Diamond² reconnects A2DP after a softreset, both Blaupunkt and the Sony, but it is not the standard procedure I want to do every time I want a BT connection
