How to configure the ports used in POP3/SMTP - HTC Tornado

My e-mail server uses non-standard ports for POP3 and SMTP access.
In all the mail clients, like Outlook and Outlook Express, this is easily configurable, but I couldn't find how to configure it in my QTEK 8300 / Tornado with WM5. Is it possible ?
If the feature is not available from the client's interfase, perhaps modifying the registry...?
Any help?
Thank You.

To set up a non-standard port, all you have to do is this:
pop.whatever.com:###
Add :[PORT NUMBER] at the end of your POP and SMTP server addresses and that should do the trick.

Zion8000: that worked just fine !! Thank you very much !!

Chaning default ports of Imap and smtp

Hi,
I've recently acquired a GPRS data plan for my Wizard.
Unfortunatly they transparantly proxy the connections to Imap port 143 and SMTP port 25!!! So all my emails go through there servers! (T-Mobile netherlands)
It is quite revolting to think they now want to know with who I email, and in theory also look at the contents of my emails!
Anyway, I was wondering whether I can't simply change the ports the wizard connects to (Imap and smtp (pref. through SSL ofcourse)) and make a port forward on my router to my internal mail server.
I'm hoping somone knows where (if) you make this change in the registry?
Thanks!!!
I found the following on this site:
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/corp-e-mail.htm
The ports can be changed in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\IMAP4 and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\POP3 respectively. The key name is Port and the value is the port to use in either hex or decimal. I do not know of a way to change the SMTP port based on my review of the registry.

So now, I only need to redirect my SMTP traffic somehow?
And the SMTP solution is here:
http://www.pocketpctweaks.com/pocketpc_tweaks/specify_outlook_smtp_port
Note do not try this with an existing account. You must create a new account in order for this to work. - Setup your email account and when you get to the Outgoing SMTP enter the server name as specified by your ISP. Proceed the server name with a colon and your desired port number. - Example: smtp.yahoomail.com:2500

So I'm done! Thanks!

A strange problem from mail2web (in wm6.0)

I just upgrade my palm 750 from wm5 to wm6.
In the past, I can sync my data and email everywhere with mail2web service.I feel happy. However it's too slow to pick up phone and hang up the call in wm5.0.
so I upgrade to wm6.0.it can solve them.but I got a big problem now.I can't use mail2web sync service.
I've according to its guide.
server: mobile.exchange.mail2web.com
user: myusername_mail2web.com
domain: ad2
(encrypted connection)
If I sync with encrypted connection(SSL),it will appear:
The security certificate on the server is not valid.Contact your Exchange Server administrator or ISP to install valid certificate on the server (Support Code:0X80072F06)
If no,it will appear:
You account in microsoft exchange server does not have permission to sync with your current setting. support code:0x85010004
And I also tried to get the certification from the server via "SslChainSaver.exe" and import all to my palm.
But it still can not work. I am so upset.please help me.
I use mail2web as well. Mine works fine.
You need different settings for WM6 than you have for WM5.
The username is not in the format: myusername_mail2web.com but is username_mailxxxx
It's explained on their site. My email settings then activesync settings I think.
Hi.I've tried to input as you said.but it can not work.
Have you import any certification on your device?

And their site said username_mail2web.com. it's very strange
I've not put any certification or anything on - just typed it in as instructed on their site and it worked with no problem.
Sorry can't help more.
Try this
Try this:
change your user: myusername_mail2web.com
to
[email protected]
use @ instead of _
no need to fill up "ad2" its automatic.
the setting on mail2web website is not always universal for some devices.
mine is works that way... Good Luck!

Yahoo/Optimum Online E-mail Through outlook

I can set up both my Optimum Online and Yahoo Mail accounts in Mobile Outlook to receive e-mail but I cannot send in either. Both I just entered in my e-mail and let it find the settings.
I do know that optimum online has blocked port 25 so on my desktop I have to use port 597. Maybe that has to do with it but how would I do that on the mobile?!
When setting up yahoo, it gave me these for incoming and outgoing:
Incoming: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
I left all settings to how they were configured from the autoconfig.
If someone needs me to list those other settings, let me know.
Thanks, help is greatly appreciated!!
put a colon after the IP or DNS name and then the port number, such as this example:
www.somewebsite.com:23432 would connect to port 23432 instead of the default. This worked for me when I setup Gmail.
Awesome, I was going to try that but among all the crazy cramming for my physics exam I forgot! Thanks that solves the optonline e-mail problem.
This also worked for yahoo!! I'm excited. Thanks!

Exchange email wm6.1

when I try and setup my exchange email in the email messaging client (the default MS) i enter the server address for owa
email / outlook
https://123.123.123.123/exchange/
but when i hit next it drops the https:// and the /exchange/ and just leaves it 123.123.123.123, causing a sync error.
Any ideas?
Hmm, I had no probelm.
Maybe an easier way of doing it would be to sync the phone with a pc that has outlook open - it automatically sets it all up for you (or it did for me the last time I did it...)
That is correct behavior. Note the check box for SSL below the server address field. So if ssl is used, check the box and input just the domain information (123.123.123.123). You only need the fully qualified domain (or ip address) and it will not accept subdirectories (/exchange), that's only for OWA.

Email Client supporting SMTP profiles

Hi,
can anybody recommend an email client, which allows for different SMTP profiles?
All of my emails drop into one single email inbox, which I sync wirelessly to my VDA GPS (Toshiba G710).
I now would like to answer certain emails (from this particulkar inbox) under a different SMTP profile, e.g. this one where the sender really has send the email to (because I am collecting/forwarding all emails to another account).
Can I do this with the original mail client shipped with WM 6.0?
If not, is there another email client which allows this?
Many thanks in advance.
