My old Symbian Nokia 9500 had a fantastic piece of software called "Call Recorder" which, well, recorded my calls! I had to do nothing to initiate the recording, it was 100% automatic. Sadly I can't find any such software for my xda. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Software
Hi thank you for the link that very useful for me?
I use this program: Virtual Secretary
It is not possible on all phones because manufactors crippled this on purpose to avoid legal problems.
That is why there are not that many apps to do it.

Downloaded a trial version of this software and i have to say i'm very impressed. I hated VITO - it just didn't work despite training. I love the fact that there's no training and it's gobsmackingly accurate. I guess i'll stump up the 15 bucks for it
I used phonext on my XDA 1 but it dials incorrectly on the XDA 2 (strips leading zero and forgets to add +44) so it's useless. Is it worth me writing my own dialler (seeing as i'm a software developer)? Any clues on how to access the dialling 'api'?

Could you please forward me the URL where i can get some more info about this software.
Thanks.

Hello,
My friend just got a new Treo 750W, and needs to know how to record phone conversations. Both sides of the conversation need to be recorded. Is this possible with the standard set of software on the Treo? Or does another software package need to be installed -- and if so, do you have any recommendations? Providing the step-by-step method / process to record would also be appreciated. Thanks!

You can't really record conversations with WM5 of WM6. There are a few reasons for this, one is privacy, the other is because the hardware just isn't capable.
However you can record conversations. When you don't want to use 3rd party software you can use the built in voice memo program. Start a conversation and put the Treo into handsfree mode. This is actually the only way.
If you want more options check out VITO Audio Notes, this has a new feature in v1.3 that automatically does these operations for you.
Good luck!
Thanks for the quick reply!
What are the VITO Audio Notes? Also, where is the Voice Memo feature located?
My friend is brand new to this phone, so any help I can pass along would be so appreciated!
The latest beta version of resco audio recorder works. So do Vito Audio Note.

Thanks you just gave me a big laugh...
I quote from their sales pitch
"Housewives – shopping lists, cooking recipes, time of important TV program and “to-do” list for the day- all this you can keep as voice notes with VITO AudioNotes instead of hundreds of stickers on the fridge. "
Classic
I know routing audio to the earpiece has been discussed a lot of times before, yet, there is an update on this topic. The latest Fring version now does this ! And it actually works quite well. Any chance someone could possibly reverse engineer this and create an universal app that would allow the same audio routing for other programs ?
bump
Hej, thanks for the tip! This new Fring is a great program, and indeed the sound comes through the earpiece/frontspeaker on my Polaris! But why don't you use it yourself? You can also communicate to all your skype contacts, so the big drawback for Skype is no longer there!
All I'd like to see now is videocall....
There is one thing i totally hate about fring. It sets my status on Skype to "online", and there is no way to make it "invisible". I don't like to appear online. It kinda seems to me that for many ppl an online status looks like some kind of "call me call me call me right now" status, and i really don't like it.
It does indeed not have all the functionality Skype has. I can for instance not receive any contacts sent from another Skype user.
But the main thing it does well: calling!
The new version is here:

Vlingo
Hello girls and boys,
Like you, I was yesterday looking for this frantically as I have just got an Android device as my work mobile and have an old Windows Mobile 6.5 phone (Touch Pro2) as my personal mobile which runs Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 and can do quite a bit without needing to touch the handset (illegal whilst driving in the UK). I have to say; I was finding it difficult to believe that with all the awesome power of a Desire S when compared to the TP2, why is it I can't find an offline voice command application? Google's Actions are great yes, but does it REALLY need server side processing for these commands? I then came across a forum where someone suggested Vlingo and no-one really acknowledged the post. What a great app! Totally free, works with bluetooth headsets and actually does speech to text as well WITHOUT needing to be online.
I suggest you guys take a look as it seems to be a great piece of software that's pretty well written. http://www.vlingo.com
