Hi,
I'm looking to use a dual sim adapter in my vario. I don't really want to trim the 2 sims by hand and i've seen a sim cutting tool on mobyfun.co.uk has anyone used one of these tools before ?

Has anyone used a Micro SIM to full size SIM adapter with a G2 or G1?
http://www.amazon.com/AFC-Trident-M...JQVU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1336362098&sr=8-2
The reviews mention a reference to it working in an HTC Sensation and an HTC TITAN.
Problem: My new phone (Samsung Galaxy S3) uses a Micro SIM. But I still want to run my old G2 or even the G1 as spare/backup phones. For when I go somewhere I don't want risk damaging the new phone. Once I move my account over to the Micro SIM, the old full size SIM will be dead.
The T-Mobile guys at the store said they would re-program a full size SIM from a micro size SIM, but I don't want to have to go down to their store just to do that!
And cutting a full size SIM down to a Micro size SIM isn't going to help me go back and forth.
I know it's only a buck for this particular adapter, but I don't want to wedge something into my G2 that's going to not work and mess it up. That's why I'm asking if anyone has had any good or bad experiences dealing with this yet.
Well the SIM slot is basically quite simple there's real nothing to snag onto as you're just making sure to face the contacts towards the phones contacts and just sliding past them. With no vertical room to move (only horizontal in and out that has next to no wiggle room) I double very much you could actually damage the phone with said adapter.
This however concerns me: "Simply cut the GSM sim card to fit the adapter (please make sure you do not cut the metal contact.)"... if you go thru with it, I recommend using a razor blade like in those house blade assemblies, instead of scissors.
For a free micro sim adapter, order a giffgaff sim below as it comes as a microsim inside a normal sim so you can either use the new sim or use it as a template to cut your old sim to size.
Order from below

When i went to t-mobile to get a replacement sim (the old one started to bow and didnt always make contact) they duplicated it for me, and gave me both the old one and the new one, saying if it ever stopped working right that the old one would work still. Why not got ask for a new one? then you have two sims that are functional, you can have one full size and one micro ?
i know you want to avoid the store but it might be a simpler solution
I use a micro sim card in my desire z without any adaptors. I just slot it in where a normal sim should be and it works.
But it's a bit fiddly

So do I, perfectly working
I have nano SIM and adapter, working without problem
I currently own a moto x from T-Mobile. I was interested in the nexus 5, but I realized the Sim cards were different sizes. Does anybody know any good sim card converters I could use? I plan on keeping both devices. Thanks in advance
If mini sim will convert to micro sim, just only cut and resize to micro sim.
I have same problem when i buy iphone a year ago.
Hi guys,
I have a single SIM Z3, and would like to pick up a dual sim one for my travels.
I understand that all aspects of the Z3 and dual are essentially the same, but I do have some questions.
1. Where does the second sim go? - my single sim version looks like it wouldnt have space to accomodate 2 sims and a microsd? is the flap on a Z3 dual longer? - issues with cases, etc?
2. In terms of dual sim management, I understand only 1 sim is on 3G/LTE, but can the second sim be connected to a 3G network (with no data), or is it strictly going to be on 2G? in addition, can you assign the SIMs for either role electronically, or would you have to remove sims and swap the slots that they are in?
thanks!
Hi,
The dual sim slot is on the right side above the power on button. Micro sd slot together with the micro usb slot is on the left in one flap.
Regarding the LTE/3G or 2G network, both sim slot can be used for either 3G or 2G which mean if you assign the first sim to be on 3G, the other will automatically switch to run on 2G which mean no need to swap the slot. You can choose in the settings menu which sim card to use for data.
Im using my Z3 dual with two sim cards as i am working oversea , so i have been experimenting with it, and it work just like any other dual sim variant phone.

Kyo, thanks for your response. Surely that means the left flap with the MicroSD and MicroUSB is bigger than a single SIM Z3 (I'm assuming you've seen a single sim Z3) - and by how much? Conscious of case compatibility.
Did you pick yours up retail or online?
thanks!

It's quite easy, just compare the flap on your z3, the size of left flap and the right flap & you will know how much difference. I can tell you for the dual sim z3, both side of the flap is same size, but the left flap is positioned lower about 5mm lower than the right flap. Thus, it is definitely not compatible with your current case for the left flap, as for the right flap maybe it should fit the hole on ur case i guess.
FYI, I don't have a case installed yet, but i have ordered a casing, which i suppose is not compatible for the flap as most cases out there are made for single sim z3. But, i don't need to open the flap often anyway..so not a big deal for me.
I bought my z3 online from a local retailer (Malaysia). I think it is imported from HK.
I have an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S7, (not edge) G930U that I purchased on ebay. I foolishly expected that since I was buying a flagship phone, I would get dual sim cabability. I was clearly proven wrong. I have however seen a hack that showed that an additional sim can be added, by removing the metal bit from the plastic and glueing it to a micro-sd card; and placing it in the micro-sd card slot in the single sim tray. I tried an alternative route of purchasing a proper dual sim tray from a mobile phone store; and this didn't work. It fit perfectly and sim 1 and the micro-sd card worked perfectly; but the mobo wouldn't regcognize sim 2. The theory of the hack being that the S7 mobo is already internally hardwired for dual sim, it's just that this feature has been hidden or deactivated.
So what I'd like to know, is this hack just BS, or do I simply have the wrong phone? Does the G930U mobo NOT have dual sim capability. It might also be a matter of critical dimensions, that were met with the hack but not met with my method. Pehaps the dual -sim cicuit pads are there on the mobo; but the contact fingers are not; which is why forcing sim 2 down a few 1/1000s, by glueing it to the 'bottom' of the micro-sd card works. And a nornal two sim tray doesn't. Any insight appreciated.
Can I just take this phone to a mobile store and have them crack-it-open and add the fingers, or replace the mobo? Sure, I can replace the phone, with a dual sim edge; but they're kind-of delicate and kind-of suck, especially if you have to repair one. Besides, I got a great discount by purchasing a refurbished one

has several 'add-on' options available; but I don't like any of them. I don't want to have to add an attachement or carry around an extra box. I just want my 'flagship' phone to be dual sim. This just makes sense in a 'mobile' environment. If you need to use Uber or Taxify and your carrier isn't performing as needed, in that location, you need to have a sim 2 (second carrier) option, period.
To my knowledge the US models never had a duo variant, they have a different SoC with a different mobo that has no hardware support for it.
While it is true if you have the international model you can hack it to see 2 SIM's since it's the same mobo as the duo, it means you have to falsify or steal an IMEI for the second SIM to use, which is illegal and you won't be allowed to discuss it here.
You can get a G930FD which is the S7 flat (not edge) international dual SIM model with the Exynos SoC, but the US doesn't use this model so your network compatibility may vary.
All versions of hardware Samsung S7 have dual sim tray

But now noone can convert ss S7 based on Snapdragon to dual sim support.
