CMD shell program for WM2005 - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Windows Mobile 2005 Upgrading

Does anyone know were I can find a command line program that will work on wm2005, I tried installing pocket cmd , that worked on ppc 2003, but it did not work on wm2005,
thanks cheers

any update???? I wnat the CDM and telnet too!!!!

me too!
How can they take such an important piece 'out'.
I know it's not exactly out, since you had to put it into earlier versions of windows-mobile your self by downloading the "Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys"
a link here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...d6-1dcc-47aa-ab28-6a2b006edfe9&DisplayLang=en
i tried to install this anyway for wm2005, yet no success -- i might have overlooked something though.
i want this shell to play with ruby (a programming language) on my vario (htc wizzard).
lets hope it will show up soon!
cies breijs.

tried even more
i tried to install (on a Wizard; windows mobile 5) the following:
PocketConcole (only a drive or something)
http://www.symbolictools.de/public/pocketconsole/index.htm
plus
CMD (form here):
http://www.symbolictools.de/public/pocketconsole/applications/cmd/index.htm
and
PocketCMD:
http://www.symbolictools.de/public/pocketconsole/applications/PocketCMD/index.htm
i also tried the PowerTool CMD as mentioned earlier again.
NO SUCCESS.
i just want a little terminal window for starting Ruby!
(and i hate windows, MCF, programming)
still hoping!

Any success with TelnetD & Console?
Hi!
Did anybody have any success with TelnetD running on WM 5.0? I have also tried Symbolic Tools' packages with no success. But I would still like to have access to the device through telnet & command line.
Cheers,
Ondrej

havent gotten it to work myself but havent made that much of an efford yet

PocketCMD OK on WM6...
Following the solution I posted a while ago (link in post above), I confirm this is still working on WM6/Wizard.
First install pocketconsole, reboot, modify registry, install pocketcmd, nettools and telnet.
Verify de change in registry is still there...

Hmm... Thanks Rudegar ! But I was searching for nettools for pocketconsole, to use with pocketcmd in order to have the "route" command.
Fortunately, I found it : nettools_arm_setup.exe on http://ftp.linux.in.th/pocketpc/net/
Thanks for your answer.

Installing programmes on WM2005

Upgraded XDA2 running 2003 to an XDA Mini S running 2005. Programmes that I previously had running on 2003 (Amirsys/Elsevier -Pocket Radiologist series). Despite many suggestions and help from Elseviers techies in St Louis they now think it's an incompatibility that cannot be overcome. Has anyone any experience of patches etc or are these programmes now completely useless.
Having said that, I find the functionality of 2005 good with calls made and taken whilst running TomTom 5.21 - which is a vast improvement!
I think the only way is to watch out for a new version which is WM 5 compatible.
But I don't understand how u can make an XDA 2 to an XDA mini s with an rom upgrade? I think u mean something different.
cu
No. I've changed my XDA2 to an XDA Mini S (wizard) which is why I'm now using WM5. Kind of wish I'd stuck with WM3.
Looked in profiles but no option for newer phones

Hello k.griffin (& anyone else who is trying to get the Amirsys soft running under WM5),
I have some "older" programs that won't run on my new Wizard as well (including your example of Amirsys Pocket Radiologist, and, e.g. a PPC dictation program). I think this is an issue for everyone trying to migrate software to WM5 devices, and it is primarily associated with the new flash architecture of WM5.
I posted some questions regarding the Pocket Radiologist software to Elsevier, too. They said a WM5 version is being prepared but nothing has happend for quite a while now.
Interestingly, I have read forum posts that claim that by chance some people had discovered this software (and several other programs that usually can't cope with the WM5 flash architecture) will run after installing the "Arabizer" suite. This is said to be associated with changes in flash memory handling when this peculiar package is installed.
So my question to everyone who is familiar with WM5 and its memory structure: how plausible is that (at the moment I am thinking of ~1% ) ? I am rather unwilling to check it out blindly, because I am not fond of getting into long hours of installing and uninstalling tools for arabic character sets [that I don't need..] in vain..
Can anybody provide some statements on that ?
there is a hack for pocketradiologist so it work with wm5,
let me search it in my harddisk and will post it,but its seem its illegal
Arabizer
I installed Arabizer, but it doesn't makes a difference !
Who has the magical hack or can fix it in the registry ?

AFAIK the file "MSDAERES.DLL" is part of M$ VB runtime for PPC.
I will try to install it on my PDA this afternoon and let you know.
cheers.
I was able to install pocket radiologist without any problem.
First I installed ADOCE.WM5.CAB, then READER APPLICATION.PPC_2577.CAB and CHEST 100.PPC_2577.CAB.
It's quite good except the radiographs are quite small on PDA screen.
What operating system is on your PDA?
cheers.

Hi ttangcho,
thanks for replying. My operating system is WM5. My pda is a qtek 9000 with Spanish Rom. I tried making a soft reset before installing it, and later I tried a hard reset getting the same message in both actions.
I first tried to install ADOCEforMIMSonPDA from WM5 file but i got that message. So couldn´t keep on going.
What would you recomend me?
Thanks in advance buddy

I'm using WM5 WWE and I installed it after hard reset.
Try to install Ms VB Runtime on your device first. This VB runtime includes "MSDAERES.DLL". I hope this work. By the way, I installed it successfully without VB runtime.

Good to hear that you were able to install the program. VB runtime is way too big to put in the main memory. If you want to install VB runtime on the RAMdisk or SD card, do the followings.
1. Create "\RAMdisk\Windows" directory
2. Open your reg edit program and add \RAMdisk\Windows\ in the SystemPath
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Loader]
"SystemPath"=\RAMdisk\Windows\ \Windows\..............
(Note. this is Multi_SZ)
or you can cut and paste the following and add to your registry.
----------------------------------------------------
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Loader]
"SystemPath"=hex(7):5c,5c,52,41,4d,64,69,73,6b,5c,5c,57,69,6e,64,6f,77,73,5c,\
5c,00,5c,5c,77,69,6e,64,6f,77,73,5c,5c,6f,65,6d,5c,5c,00,5c,5c,52,65,6c,65,\
61,73,65,5c,5c,00,00,00,00
----------------------------------------------------
3. Soft Reset using SOFTWARE or power off and on couple of times and soft reset using your stylus.
4. Install VB run time on your RAMdisk.
This is how I did in order to install VB Runtime (3MB) and M$ .NET Compact platform 2.0 SP1(2.2MB) on the RAMdisk.
Cheers!

thanks you all buddies, it worked, at the end, but worked!!!
now i can go with all pocket radiologist on my handheld device, it´s really amazing!!!

ADB USB Driver

the USB driver for windows is available at:
http://dl.google.com/android/android_usb_windows.zip
It seems to work... I will update this thread with what I find.
Thanks for posting the driver!
I've tried a few things with adb, and so far I can't get an install to work over usb. I tried the following command.
C:\...\android-sdk-windows-1.0_r1\tools>adb install OperaMini.apk
579 KB/s (0 bytes in 278155.000s)
pkg: /data/local/tmp/OperaMini.apk

http://www.android-freeware.org/tutorial/how-to-install-apk-files-on-android-device-emulator Had some basic info about the emulator, not sure what would be different for the G1.
The "adb shell" option allows you to access a shell on the phone over USB, which is really great but it appears you don't have root privileges. Any ideas on how to obtain root priveleges? Also, is there a command to install from the android shell? When i cd to /sbin i get access denied. I'm trying to figure out some kind of way to invoke an install either from the device or over USB.
I have the same problem... working on it now...
I don't know about the USB installs, but it seems to be something with the APK as well. I also have the OperaMini.apk and it does nothing. I downloaded the iTunes remote via the G1 and it installed just fine without getting a PC involved.
It looks like you have to put the phone into a "Debug on USB" mode to use ADB. It's working for me now.
http://code.google.com/android/intro/develop-and-debug.html#developingondevicehardware
So you were able to install the opera mini apk through adb with no trouble? I got the error listed above and did have debug mode on
Thank you dagentooboy!
Can someone explain this for this not so savvy person?

I think that is caused by an issue with the the AndroidManifest.xml file within the APK having to do with going from "beta" to "live" Android. The same reason most of the apps were pulled from the store. I don't believe it takes a major change to make it compatible, but it's fully compiled so, unless you have a decompiler, I think we may be out of luck on that particular one. I have installed other apk's successfully using the same method.

ADB is the Android Debug Bridge that comes as a part of the SKD. I don't think it was really intended as an end user tool. It has to be called from a command line. I know people have built basic UI's for it for file manipulation when the SDK was the only thing out there. If a better solution isn't found shortly I think we'll see one be made, or else I'll make one myself. In the end it seem to make a big difference of what you're trying to install some things work and some don't, there are some differences between the beta SDK and the G1.
For any developers out there, you can also access the ADB/DDMS feature through the Eclipse IDE, it provides a somewhat simpler graphic interface and is a really easy way to get screenshots. Has anyone tried just typing su through the ADB command prompt to see if it will switch you to # ?

the su command and sudo su returns "no permission" or "access denied" or something like that. That is also the same message i get when typing arbitrary commands that shouldn't be anything. And like i said earlier, /sbin along with many other directories are inaccessible. Hopefully someone will find a way to access the root account on the G1 pretty soon.
yes... must... have.... root...
Also a normal shell would be helpful esp when looking thru /proc/ for information.
Please help (ahhhhhh)
Okay So I am pulling my hair out here... I just booted android on my Vogue for the first time, everything works great, voice calls and sms.. But I can get a Inet connection but I am using Cricket not sprint so I added the username and password lines in default.txt and can connect, but Cricket uses a proxy for all http connections. So I found this article http://fggarcia.blogspot.com/2007/11/setting-up-proxy-for-android-emulator.html , which basicly says to use the adp app that comes in the sdk to add some lines to make the proxy. NOW, here is my problem... I can not for the life of me get my come (in windows or linux) to see my vogue while its in android..
In windows it does not appear ANYWHERE in the device manager... So I cannot install the driver, and in Linux it doesnt make a blip in dmesg..... USB debugging is marked and so is use adb....
It does charge when plugged in to the comp running linux.....
Can anyone please help me... And thanks to DZO and everyone else for there hard work on this project..
check too make sure your Android isnt listed under usb mass storage devices in device manager.
Ya USB isn't possible on Vogue yet, I just extracted data.img and added the proxy that way, but it still doesn't work. My Problem is I need all connection to use the proxy wap.mycricket.com:8080. I am not trying to be cheap or anything like the tzones thing for tmobile. Its just the only data plan cricket have use this proxy. So any Ideas would be greatly appreciated.
my computer already had a driver installed and when i try to update it with this one it says there is no better match for my hardware
anyone got a solution for this
Im really sorry to bump this old thread up but i need the r3 drivers and i dont know why they are nowhere to be found on the official page... i think its a region lock thing...

[SOLVED] Android SDK Updater on OpenSuSE 11.2: Not able to get a platform

Alright, since my google search returned the whole 2 (two!) relevant results, and the search here around 10 irrelevant, I thought I'd drop this on the community, in hope for some help.
I've upgraded my 64bit OpenSuSE to 11.2 the other day, downloaded the Android SDK, set up the environment variables, and fired up the "android" script that is supposed to download and install a platform, so I could access my device through adb shell.
Here I ran into a problem: Half of the buttons I click in the SDK updater don't seem to work, it will not save the settings, it will not remember the URL I type in (had to use http), and when it reads the http repo, it will not download and install what I have cheked! What happens is, I click the button, it appears to stick down for a while, then pops back up as if I never clicked it, and nothing happens.
My first question is, has anybody tried this on SuSE 11.2? I have had no problems on 11.1, for instance.
Second, does this need any "special" Java configuration to work properly? I have tried both the openJava (now built-in into SuSE), and Sun Java latest (SDK and JRE). I don't think so, but asking just in case...
I'm pretty much stuck. If anyone has this working, or better yet, if anyone knows where I could download platforms outside of the updater, please be so kind and share. Thank you!
P.S. Oh, and the optional third question: Is there a way to trigger the download from console? That would probably help to figure out what goes wrong...
EDIT: Not Java problem, but updater problem. It does not show any of the SDKs, it shows only APIs, which can only be added if a valid SDK exists.
Can anyone confirm this?
It seems I need an external link to SDK 1.6 for Linux (for example). Can't anyone share?
Thanks!
Still stuck...
EDIT2: Solved it, my adb works again. But the updater app is crap I installed the APIs, then shut it down, rebooted, then ran it again. Also, for some reason the buttons wouldn't respond to clicks, but if I click and then push Enter key, it works. Took me a while to figure this one out.
Hey, I'm getting ready to install Android SKD on openSUSE 11.2 from scratch. Could you list your steps and/or suggestions based on how you got it working? Thanks.
How did it go?? Sry, just saw this...
Don't have time to do the steps.. actually, everything works just as the standard procedure suggests, with the exception of button clicks - as I said, each time I clicked a button, I had to press the Enter key (as if the click was just giving it focus, but not the actual command)
Feel free to PM me (or any other user), especially if the thread is a bit old, like this one.

Cannot open ddms.bat in order to take screenshots on Nexus One

I wanted to take screenshots of my Nexus One (2.2 FRF91/T-Mobile/Stock) but I'm just a newbie so I followed the guide on andriodcentral Anrdroid 101 tips. (Sorry I can't link to it since I'm a new user on these forums
That guide led me to another guide on how to install the sdk
When I tried to pull my 3rd party apps, cmd didnt do anything it simply said "0 pulled, 0 skipped", however I was able to pull my standard apps. I'm confident the sdk was installed correctly though.
I'm using a laptop with Windows 7 64bit and an AMD processor, I'm not sure if that information is helpful or not
I've already downloaded and installed the android 2.2 sdk, java runtime environment, java development kit. I've also properly installed the ADB drivers for the Nexus One. I also downloaded Eclispe but when I tried to run it, the application won't open. I have a feeling its because I didn't install it properly.
My problem now is that the ddms.bat (Dalvik Debug Monitor) won't open when I double click on it. I tried to right click and run as administrator but that didn't work either. In both cases when I try to open it, a cmd windows opens for a fraction of a second and then closes before I can read it. So I googled it and found a website that seemed to be able to solve the problem but its geared towards linux users.
I specifically followed these directions "To fix this a replace of the bundled swt is needed. The file is located under android-sdk-linux_x86-1.5_r3/tools/lib/. Rename swt.jar to swt_32b.jar. Next download swt for your platform. I have used swt-3.4.2-gtk-linux-x86_64.zip. Unpack the file swt.jar in the zipfile to android-sdk-linux_x86-1.5_r3/tools/lib/ and finally start ddms" but that didnt work either. So now my android-sdk-windows/tools/lib/x86_64 is full of other files rather than just having that swt.jar file.
Can anyone please help on getting ddms.bat to open or on how to get eclipse to open?, I'm so close to being able to take screenshots.
Some notes:
1.I'm not interested in rooting (too worried about bricking my phone), so please don't recommend that I root first.
2. USB debugging was ON when I tried it
Open up a command prompt. (Start -> search "cmd")
use CD to get to the folder where you keep ddms.bat
open ddms.bat from the command prompt by simply entering "ddms.bat" then press Enter. That will keep it from closing the window.
Just to see if it gives any errors.
Thank you so much!
However the error message that cmd is now giving me is : WARNING: Java not found in your path.
Could you please tell me how I can do this? for the time being I'm searching the internet for help but the first thing I found seems super complicated
I finally got it to work, wish I could link the imgur pic, but I'm still a new user but here's the end of the imgur link code :ucBpY

[Q] Samsung Captive ATT non market app help

I have tried everything to get a one click solution to enable non-market apps. First and foremost I am on a MAC. No access to a windows machine. I have my phone rooted and have installed superuser status.
I am looking for a solution that will let me install (easily) non- market applications. There appears to be several solutions doing this on a windows machine. I have not been able to find a solution on a MAC. And instructions, help, videos anything is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
PS: not a total nube, but I have limited knowledge of the root directory and manipulation, but follow instructions well ........
What firmware are you on? Because if you are on the leaked 2.2 you should look on the leaked ji6 hacks forum page and it will give you the instructions that you can run in adb shell in the terminal application on a mac you just have to type ./adb (command) where windows users just have to type adb (command) you should make sure that you are comfortable on adb though because there are hardly any tutorials for adb on a mac around. I found that the hard way. Hope this helps, if you still can't figure it out post more info and I will do my best to help although I am still kinda a noob to android development.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Thank for the help, I will look at thie ji6 hack and see if it works. I'll let you know. Right now I have spent 3 days trying to unlock this pile of dung. ATT should be shot for doing this people. We bought the phone let us put what we want on it. PERIOD
Have you tried ADB? If you can get ADB to work, you should have the skill to copy over the settings.db and use the SQLeditor for Firefox plugin. Or use SQLite on the phone.
Read up on how to enable sideloading - the same commands that work on windows work on a mac - or very similar. As long as you know how to copy files in terminal you should be set.
