Works fine, did it this week without a problem (Austrian T-Mobile MDA Compact 2), using my ONE sim now
mine worked first time just read the instructiosn twice and then try it and wait, it goes slowly at one point.
try it without the sim card in.
Did mine this morning, worked great had to follow the instructions carefully though,

Its not possible to remove branding, BUT you can make a hard reset of the device. After you have adjusted the stylus, you must immediately soft reset the device. The branding .cab files wont be installed.
Browse around the forums, there are a lot of postings about that.

i used the soft reset after setting up the pointer worked a treat. alsoto remove the t-mobile paint i used my fingernail and white spirit worked nice no scars. only problem is i unlocked it fine. But wont operate on the o2 network...any ideas????
if you want to remove the t-mobile branding completely do the bigstorage hack or search the forums for how to change splash screens, you may need to unlock your mda with the unlock tool on the front page of this site to get it working on o2

edit: sorry i misread you have already tried unlocking, maybe try a friends o2 sim in case yours is faulty, i use my o2 sim in a mda compact so it can work, just not sure why yours doesn't sorry

A friend of mine is buying my old T-Mobile MDA Compact off me, he's on O2 PAYG and I'm looking to convert the phone to be as much like the O2 XDA equivelant as posible to avoid network issues.
Firstly, What is the O2 XDA equivelant of the MDA Compact officially known as? I've heard it's the XDA mini, but not sure.
1. Can I install/use an O2 XDA mini ROM (or updated one) to setup the phone for use on O2? I'm assuming the ROM is the only software differance between an XDA mini and MDA Compact.
2. Will this also change the radio stack, allowing the phone to accept an O2 sim card or will i need to apply a seperate unclock tool?
Where can I find O2 XDA mini ROMs? and if needed an unlock tool?
I'm hoping its as simple as just installing an O2 ROM but I'm preparing myself for the worst.
Any help and advice gratly appreciated,

I actually did this about 6 months ago before I left the UK.
My MDA Compact was working fine on an O2 PAYG SIM card with the original T-mobile ROM on the device (I tried it also with the upgrades that were available on the website, though I don't think there are any left online now). All I did was unlock the device to allow it to accept the O2 SIM card.
I got a little bored of looking at the T-mobile bits of the ROM after a while, so I changed the ROM to the generic HTC version. This also worked fine, as it is designed to be universally compatable anyways.
I don't have the file anymore, but the unlock program I used I got off the XDA Developers drive, and I think that it was called xdadev.unlock, though I am not sure.

I have used hard_SPL and then flashed with Factory Shipped ROM form HTC, i'm using an orange tytn II and now it wont accept any UK sim not even orange the network it's on, i've done everything as POF advised but still no correct sim.
Please Help if you can.

many of us with orange roms have had the same problem when flashing our kaisers. if you update the radio then you need to unlock the phone, if youve had your contract longer than three months then just phone orrange and theyll charge you a minimal fee to unlock it or you can do it here:

I have managed to network lock my tytn and now it wont even accept the orange sim. it was supplied on orange and i have flashed it with the factory shipped rom from htc and i have also tried some of duttys clean roms and they are all the same. orange have said they will send me an unlock code for free but it will take 2-3 weeks to arrive and i dont even know if it will work. i am desperate for some help from someone who knows more than orange as i have found them to be pretty useless in the past and just dont trust them. if anyone has had the same problem and fixed it can you please tell me how

Don't sweat it exactly the same thing happened to me when I bought an orange branded kaiser (tytn II) off ebay which had already been reflashed with the shipped rom. The conflict is in the cellular radio portion of the rom and unfortunately once the tytn ii has been reflashed the simlock is permanently invoked. The only way to solve the problem is to have your phone completely unlocked. The best way to get this done is by www.imei-check.com for a cost of £20. At the moment there is no free way to get the tytn ii unlocked. But if orange say that they will send you the unlock code then i would try that. If that doesn't work then I personally guarentee that imei-check will unlock it.

I have an MDA VARIO III which i bought on contract about a year ago with T-Mobile! I then had it on a T-Mobile pay as you go sim for a while after the contract was over! I wanted to change my sim to 02 but the phone was locked so i bought a unlocker for my phone called "KAISER UNLOCKER" this totally messed up my phone making it lose volume, etc. I wanted to get it back to normal so that it would at least work on T-Mobile pay as you go so i used a flasher program which was ment to remove the "KAISER UNLOCK"! But nope it did the opposite the phone now wont turn on and only a green light comes on at the top! Either there is no operating system or what i dont have a clue ????
Also the phone when plugged into a pc makes a bleap noise but can not be picked up to check out files on the MDA III
Does any MDA EXPERT OUT THERE HAVE ANY IDEAS????
Sounds like you trashed your boot loader by not cid unlocking and flashing hard spl first.
