downgrading to wm2003 - General Topics

i was just curious if its possible to downgrade a wm5 device such as the atom or wizard to wm2003.it seems a lot of people have gripes about these new devices because of their slowness w/c is attributed to the new OS.i know there are hardware limitations but i also know that a lot of people who frequent these forums have found ingenious ways to find solutions to xda problems.maybe downgrading to wm2003 is a solution we could explore, that is only til a more stable wm5 version comes out.i personally love the way the atom looks and feels like physically but hate the way it performs compared to my blue angel.so, is there a possibility to downgrade these devices?

Perhapse a forum search would have been a good idea?

Upgrading from the Wizard

Hi
I know it's a REALLY general question...
But I am in the market for a new WM phone. Have been happily using the Wizard, recently upgraded to WM6, for the last year and a half. It seems a little bulky by today's standards.
I was considering a smartphone with no touchscreen but with a qwerty keyboard. Or maybe something like the new Ipaq 514. Ideally it would have WM6, or the ability to flash to a stable ROM of WM6.
I was wondering if someone could make some general comments on moving away from touchscreen, including any specific praise or criticism of particular models?
Or perhaps there is a PDA phone out there with touchscreen, Wifi, WM6, and dedicated keyboard that is much smaller and sexier than the Wizard?
Any general comments would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Best HTC, Is the Diamond that good?

Hi guys,
I have tried searching for a thread like this but only found one from 07', Im think about upgrading my Trinity to a newer model but i am not sure which model to upgrade to, I like the looks of the Diamond but not sure about the battery life and size, is the Diamond pro (not sure if that is the correct name, it has the slide out keyboard) going to be any better? How dose the Titan compare? Or the Polaris? Is there any others I have missed?
Thanks
I don't know about the best HTC, but I can tell you that we are hearing a lot of rumours about bugs and lock ups with the Diamond. I haven't checked recently though, maybe they have brought out a less buggy rom for it or solved the issue.
you're asking for out personal opinions, so you can't hope to get an unskewed answer.
my answer- get a smartphone with plenty of ram and processor. You'll love the ease of use that i just can't seem to get on ppc.
My personnal:
pros - TouchFlo 3D, G-sensor,VGA screen,Size,Design
cons - speed of WM6 scrooling, slower video playback (but still can play unconverted videos), everyone MUST try it, so you can not even tell somebody you have it.

Help with giving new life to an old wizard

First of all let me start by apologizing for the type of help im about to ask
For the record I was a total noob on this regard but i searched and read quite a bit and I now feel more than comfortable to take the plunge and flash up a new rom on my QTEK 9100 after a one year rest due to a broken miniUSB plug i recently decided to fix with superglue
however im stuck on one aspect that I just cant decide.. I want WM6 or WM6.1 that is stable, snappier than my current WM5 and most of all TouchFlo with a cube just like my sister's HTC Touch Duo. That is basically what i need as my main use for the phone is SMS and general phonecalls and some light games or movies but i'll handle that later..
I've searched alot amidst the heaps of roms available but i can't decide on one to pick.. At first I was going for NBD 8.3 as I read alot of good stuff about it and it had all i wanted.. Then i realized though that it was quite old and started looking at some more recent releases but just couldnt pick one from all those features I have no clue about
So the question is:
Will I be fine with NBD 8.3? or should i try something else, more recent, that will perform better for my needs?
BTW I have a G4 QTEK 9100
Thanks in advance, and sorry for posting yet another one of these questions.. Even though Im aware that there is no *BEST* rom to use, I just need some advice and/or personal input as to one that will fill my needs nicely

Hello there....
i can suggest you (if you want the new/fresh ROMS)
there are 6.1 and 6.5 WM versions from CRACING and XDA2_HASSEB
both cookers are amazing.
Now im using the XDS2_HASEEB 6.5 newer version, very nice, stable, and looks fresh (colorfull) LOL
GOOD LUCK
In addition to the cooks mentioned by tigrisimo, I recommend looking at some of the stuff from S.V.I. His are some of the fastest and tightest ROMs around, if you can get past his penchant for unusual theme art.
In other news, I would suggest that you give up your quest for the cube. It's slow, massive, and dated.
Take a look at the Manila 2d today plugin for wm6, and the CHOME/Titanium for WM 6.5. They provide easy access to phone features in a similar but superior way.

6.1 vs 6.5 vs 6.5.x, speed, memory management etc

I know that the general hardware minimum requirements for 6.5 are quite a bit higher than 6.1, but I really wanted to know if anyone knew exactly what has changeed with winmo under the hood. I tried googling it and checking wikipedia and of course google searching XDA...but only found a lot of ROM/device specific answers regarding this question. I believe i read somewhere a while ago that MS had changed the memory management system with 6.5 from what was used in 6.1. And i was just curious to exactly what changes were made.
And as far as the builds that are being released with 6.5.1 and the newest 6.5.3, does anyone have any info on that? I heard one of the more recent builds of 6.5.1 (i forget which one it was, but brandon miniman did a video review)said it was dramatically faster than previous 6.5.1 builds. Right now i'm very curious; i'm wondering if MS is just doing aesthetics updates w/ the 6.5.x builds...or if they're actually changing how it works under the hood as well.
maybe this might help you

I find the simbadogg's question valid even now.
So, is there finally a clear answer? Any benchmarks? Charts?
Thanks
would like to know too

questions abt android on htc diamond2.

Hi all,
I read through a few sites and the forum to research about my phone and i am looking to make it not so laggy/sluggish.
I am from Australia and is on Telstra network and my HTC Diamond2 is very sluggish and so laggy, it can barely function. Chance upon android articles and reading about rave reviews about how Android performs faster than Windows Mobile 6.5.
I have ZERO computer programming technical abilities. Just a chemist looking to fix her phone. So, this may sounds like requesting baby sitting service, but if anybody is kind enough, please direct me to the builds that are stable with Diamond2.
Google maps, text msging and bluetooth (which at the moment does not work) are very important functions to me, so I am looking for a build that have functions similar to these working well.
thanks so much in advance.
check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=509493
there is currently no fully working android build on the TD2 as there are problems with the drivers, android is not a complete replacement for windows mobile tho as you need to boot android from the win mob enviroment, plus as a owner of a android and win mob device i prefer windows over android any day of the week, maybe you should try some system optimisation software like sk tools, pocket mechanic or tweeks 2k2 as they can all improve system stability also try a cooked rom from one of the great TD2 cooks here on xda as alot of them out perform the stock HTC roms
Thank you so much.
Yes, i am just looking to really optimise my phone as I am pretty much stuck with this phone unless I can afford a new handset straight out.
Again, thank you for the link. I have no great computing abilities but I like to DIY. Will definitely look around more.
Thanks so much again.
you're really asking a question that will result in an answer that you just won't like. Its basically not feasible to have android on your phone, and if it ever were to be somewhat available, it would not be stable and it would require significant tinkering and knowledge to have a half-ass working android Diamond2.
your phone is nice...there's definitely a way for you to sell it off locally and purchase an android phone.
