Is this possible? - General Topics

I have two phone contracts in my name. One with O2 (My own phone, XDA2), and the other with T Mobile(My wife's phone - P800).
Can I cancel my contract with O2, get my PAC, get my wife to start a new contract with O2 with my PAC and get an Exec(!)?
I have tried to negotiate a discounted upgrade but they will not budge
Thanks for your help

Just go from O2 online to an O2 shop or vice versa. They are different companies. I only found this when I went to an online tariff and then had to get a PAC code off O2 to give to O2.

Any o2 stores with XDA II in stock

I'm sick and tired of repeatedly ringing all my local o2 stores to see if they've got any in stock, so please post if you know of any that do - preferably in the Surrey/London area.
Also with out starting another thread on best price etc. O2 offering XDa II at £199 on £15p/m contract so therefore cost £379 over the year. I'm not going to use the contract at all just intererested in handset and this is cheaper than I can pick up a second hand one on ebay. However if anyone knows of a cheaper way to get hold of one please let me know. (in another thread someone said o2 selling it for £300 sim-free but to be honest not sure I believe that to be correct!).
I doubt you can find one by phoning the shop up. My local o2 shop has a list of customers waiting for a xda. Last time I looked it was two pages long and they're only getting 3 handsets a week from distrribution.

What's with O2 and the XDAIIi ?

I rang O2 yesterday to see about posssibly upgrading my XDAII and getting the XDAIIi but the sales operative I spoke to was less than helpful.
"we don't do that phone" was the reply.
I stated that it's on their website and that billboards all over London show it in all it's glory. He then went off to ask his manager and after a long wait, he returned and said they should have it next week!!!
What a shambles, to advertise something then not even allowing you to order it.
Is there anywhere else in UK I can order it from? Or is it just "scotch mist".
Has anybody else been luckier than me?
I am a O2 select customer (due to the amount i spend each month) (over £50 p/m automaticaly makes you a select customer) and this gets you slightley better upgrade prices. But to get my XDA2i i did the same as i did last year to get the XDA2.
I got our local o2 store to call me as soon as they had a 2i in stock, i then go to the shop and pay what ever they charge, and then a month later or when ever "select" get them in they credit my account with the differance between what i paid in a shop to what they would have sold it for.
they probley do this because they have no answer as to why cant i a select customer have a phone, but jo bogs off the street can get one in most of the o2 shops.
I went into a London O2 shop (Cheapside) on 31 Jan, and they upgraded my XDA II to a IIi on the spot. They had only received the IIi that morning, apparently. Was charged £175 (which I will significantly reduce by selling on the original device). I've been on a £25pm contract since November 03.
Good luck
Tim
It seems I may be in luck... Oxford street are holding one for me and I'm off there this afternoon to do the deed.
It's £179 so that's not too sad...
wooooohoooo!!!

it's a euphemism for B******t !!!!!
I phoned up O2 UK shop, held for 20 mins, and they said they don't have any - probably not for a month or two (even though it appears you can order new ones on-line - but I wanted an upgrade which you don't appear to be able todo without phoning them.
I then phoned the two big O2 shops in Manchester and they said they don't have any either or a delivery date
I'm stuck - seems like London gets the new stuff first.
Russ
i hope they will release this thing in germany soon
i cant wait any longer
XDA IIi
I phoned O2 on Wedensday 2nd Feb and received my XDAIIi on Thursday 3rd Feb withouth a hitch. My contract is a pay up front yearly 200 mins per month peak for £150ish.
Suggest you speak to another member of staff.
Hi Folks , I agree with daash's opinion, speak to someone else
I rang O2 in the UK as I was thinking of cancelling my contract and check out the deal they offered me
XDA 2i for £100, should be £199
They will also take £10 a month off my existing £25 a month tariff and give me the Gold Insurance for £5 a month
So all I pay is for the phone is £100 and tarif & insurance is only £20 a month
The number I called was 0870 2410202, option 4 (Retentions)
Get them before they change their minds
PS Anyone want to buy an XDA2, WM 2003, Unlocked, boxed with all accessories incl PDA software and Tom Tom Navigator 3
PM me with any offers
Thanks
On monday I left me xda II in a taxi :'(
No luck in getting back but rung up o2 to cancle and get a new simcard whch have now got. They said I couldnt upgrade until june which is for a year .. they offered me £160 for xda IIi, but said they couldnt do anything until June.
Perhaps it depends on who you speak to, I dont know what commision they get for selling there phones, perhaps the phone is a price, then a top price which includes their commision, they can knock off their commisison depending on their mood?
I got a s**t motorola MX200 tempory replacement which at least connects to me pc, but not half as good as wm 2003.. Wouldnt mind getting an update for smartphone 2002.. loads of stuff it lacks in.

easyest cheepest way of porting my number to same network?

have a t-mobile contract, which is over 12 months, and want a vario 2 on t-mobile, but i doubt they will do a decent upgrade price, ie will be better off on a new contract, but want to keep my number!
now i have several pay as you go sims, all networks unused.
how do i do it ? who do i phone first? how longs it going to take? any costs?
Contact T-Mobile and ask for PAC code (you will be put through to retentions and may be able to negotiate the deal you want here, If not)
Register one of the pay as you go SIMS and give the new network the PAC code and wait for the handover to be completed. (Orange, O2 and Virgin are good networks SIMs to use for this part).
Wait for handover to complete and old T-Mobile contract to die.
Contact the temporary network and request a PAC again.
Contact T-Mobile as a new customer, take out a new contract, and give then the second PAC code.
Wait for transfer to complete again, and your done, old number on a new contract with same network.
The whole process should take roughly 3-4 weeks and if you allready have unregistered PAYG SIMS then there is no cost. (The only cost usually is aquiring a new temporary SIM)
I stated Orange, O2 and Virgin because I know those networks don't fuss about the fast turn around on the PAYG Sim, I can't comment on other providers reactions or if they'd want to charge you for the PAC.
thanks alot for that, i have plenty of O2 sims, ( dont everyone ) think theres a few virgin and orange sims in my draw too!
come on t-mobile with the vario 2!!!

GOOD NEWS - You can now port your number from one o2 contract to another

Hi all,
I took out an o2 simplicity contract last year via Quidco (£120) meaning that (after cashback) I was paying just under £11/month for 800 minutes, 1600 texts and unlimited Internet on a 12 month sim only contract.
Back in February a similar deal came up, so rather than wait until the end of my contract (April) and hope it'd still be around (they're usually around for 2 weeks at a time, max) I took out another contract.
I have a good number on my original contract so I ideally wanted to port that number onto the newer contract when it expired. I was told that you can't port from one contract to another by various people (both o2 and people who had tried in the past)
Well, that policy has now changed, as I called up to see if this was possible last week. I was planning on porting to T-Mobile PAYG temporarily and then onto my new o2 contract to keep my number but was told by someone in retentions that o2 will now port numbers between their own contracts. He issued me a PAC code via SMS and told me to all with my current and other contract details and all would be taken care of within 48 hours.
This saves a lot of hassle and will be of benefit to anyone who wants to port from one to another for whatever reason (for me it was the cashback deal). This also means you won't lose any of my o2 home broadband discount either.

[Q] Sensation O2 UK

Hi,
I am new here and this is my first question.
I live in Eastern Europe but a friend of mine offered to get me a HTC Sensation in UK, that she can get through her subscription to O2 UK.
I would like to know if I get this phone do I have to unlock it to use in other country?
Do the O2 Sensations have custom menus and applications? If so, is it possible to get rid of them?
I'm sorry if these questions have been answered here but I couldn't find them.
If this is not the right place to find these answers, could someone point me to where I can find them?
Thank you.
Caty.
If it's direct through O2 it will have their own ROM, which has O2 splash screens and pre-installed apps. I don't know if it's SIM locked though, although I don't it is
I'd get your friend to get it from Carphone Warehouse as they only supply unbranded handsets so you'd have no issues
So you think these apps and splash screens are not deletable?
She is getting me from O2 because she can get it for 100 pounds with her subscription.
If she has to get from Carphone then I would buy it here because the price will probably be the same, around 450 pounds.
You can get it on upgrade on any network from Carphone Warehouse - I got mine on Vodafone for free (albeit a new contract)
I think you didn't understand.
Because my friend already has a subscription on O2 she can get the phone for 100 pounds.
If she were to buy from Carphone that phone would cost 450 pounds and that is a huge difference for me.
It's the difference between buying it and not even thinking about it.
If she couldn't get it for 100 Pounds I wouldn't even consider an HTC Sensation.
If she is looking at an upgrade (as in at the end of the existing contract) she can get it from any shop, and going to Carphone Warehouse would mean she gets the unbranded handset. She doesn't have to get it from O2 directly.
If she is getting an early upgrade then yes it'd probably have to be direct from O2
I guess it's an early upgrade because she haven't been in UK for long.
She got some special offer in an e-mail from O2.
I've got an o2 Sensation. The only branding I noticed is an o2 wallpaper that is easily changed. Seems to be practically unbranded otherwise.
The only advice I would offer is be careful in case you need to return it, I had to send my first two back for having dust under the screen. The third one seems to be developing it again
Dust under the screen?
That sounds bad.
Having to send it all the way back to UK and risk the package getting "lost" would be terrible
I'm glad that the branding is easy to delete, though.
I still have to think about getting it.
Any other problem that we should check in case I decide to get it?
