My XDA-11 has been reseting itself and in doing so I have to reload the software. This it self is a royal pain in the ar5e but not as much as having to keep having to load the Tom Tom software as I need it on a day to day basis for my job as a Haulier....
Loading the main software is not a problem only when I go to load the CD1 disk maps it comes up with the following message any ideas?
( Not enough free space in Temp folder can not run setup. )
I have run find folder in windows XP and deleted all the temp folder contents that I can find any ideas on this?

I have an issue with my new XDA IQ smartphone and TomTom 5.2
I've moved from an XDA SP - basically put the tomtom memory card (with 5.2 working fine on the SP) into the XDA IQ.
It all installed fine and I have the application short cuts.
I've got the new IQ to recognise Tomtom GPS receiver.
When I start the application the disclaimer screen appears with the option "I agree".
Once selected Tomtom bombs out back to the "desktop" - the blue tooth that tomtom triggered is still enabled but then when I try and do anything with the phone, its really sluggish and unresponsive. A soft reset sorts this out.
I've tried tomtom support, but I guess that always asking too much
I've used the application unlock as described on this forum to allow any app to be installed, but again this has made no difference.
I guess thats it! - i'll be trying out other methods tonight so if i find a solution I will update the thread for others with similar problems.
Many Thanks!
Ive managed to fix the issue with this.
Created a new notepad text document - entered the path of the map file into the text document
\Storage Card\Great-Britain-Map\
*note - you may need to amend the above location to reflect your installation.
Saved the text document and renamed it
CurrentMap.dat
then use activesync explorer to move it to
\My Documents\TomTom
create the TomTom directory if it does not exsist.
Then it works!
IT WORKS!!!
I was having exatly the same problems with my tomtom.
I had recently updatet my Qtek 8310 with new rom, but nothing worked.
Then i tried, solomons trick, ( a couple of times) and it worked , only issue was there was no shortscuts, but that i created.
Mr Solomon, you're great!!!

I've got the program (TomTom mobile 5 and maps on my SD card but how do i install it and get it to run?
I bet im been so dumb, thanks in advance for any help
The only choice of PPC mapping software for Non-Chinese speaking users in Asia is pretty much Mapking. And Mapking exerts a hefty prices for it: HKD 280 for Beijing only, HKD 330 for Hong Kong and so forth. Add some cities and you’ll be talking real money.
However, Mapking is a total dud on both of my Hermes (WM5) and Trnity (GPS, WM6.) Mapking2007 AND Mapking G10 refuse to load on both devices. They give me a splash screen and die. The only thing I get loaded is the obsolete Mapking5, and that has no maps for sale.
If you google "Mapking" and "splash screen," you will see that this phenomenon is widespread. I found lots of complaints and no solution.
However, Mapking does nothing to address the issue.
I have sent [email protected] several emails, from friendly to grumpy, and ALL emails remained unanswered. Mapking is either dead, or they are playing dead. They collect money for product that is unfit for sale. And they ignore their customers.
Google Maps is free and works like a charm in HK. Alas, no Google maps for Beijing. I’m wide open for suggestions.
D810 English rom + Mapking G10 here, from WM5 to WM6, from HK to Taipei to Beijing, worked like a charm, no problem experienced.
No Problems here
PDAViet rom 10
Mapking 2007, Hong kong, Hong Kong Hiking, Shenzen, Manila maps installed. always found it very stable
D810 English rom + Mapking 2007 + Malaysia maps - working fine.
Upon launching Mapking, it will wait between 3-8 mins b4 GPS initiate.
Guess is common as it take time to load the GPS.
mapking - splashscreen - Quits
Dont know if anyone solved the Mapking closes after Splashscreen issue yet but i kinda fixed it.
I installed Pocket Mechanics, Low Level format the Card. Set Cluster size to 4K.
Reinstall mapking 2007 and its working. Still testing it. Unless there is a problem. I wouldnt be posting anything.

Hi
This is VERY interesting, I have a d810=Trinity and have the same Splash screen problem. Please let me know what version of Pocket Mecahnic you installed and how did you configure it.
By the way when i install the Mapking R12 version everything works OK but there are missing maps like India etc. If someone knows how to convert G10 or 2007 maps to the R12 map format this would be great.
splash screen issue
I had trouble getting Mapking (G10 and below) to work on WM5 too. All I had to do was move a bunch of files off of the card and reinstall then it launched the first time and has worked ever since. It wasn't a card space issue, it seems to have something to do with it scanning the card (for map files?) on first startup. I could move the files back onto the card after that without issues. I just upgraded to WM6 and G10 installed fine, albeit with a half empty 2GB card this time...
I should clarify, I believe the issue was NUMBER of files, not the space used on the card. In any case, try moving as many files off as possible, reinstalling, and see if that works...

Which files did you move, from where and where to??
If I remember correctly it was just a ton of assorted files from "My Documents" It didn't seem to me to matter what it was, just to reduce the number of files on the card.
@ausi
According to this http://www.ppcsg.com/lofiversion/index.php/t89755.html you can just change the extension for compatibility between the g10 and 2007. I'd almost bet the same thing applies to r12 since it is supposed to just be a rebranded version of one or the other for OEMs (I think it's closer to g10, maybe minus a few features)

I tried it but it didn't work for me.
Hi,
The above problem plague many mapking users, surprising never see a reply from the company that make this excellent navigation software for pocketpc. Well after many sleepless night and different configurations, finally found out the real cause.
The problem lies with the mapking program don't like any directories and files that the characters added up together be more than 128 characters. This is root of all the problems.
a, No problem.
\Storage card\Programs Store\abc.txt
b. Got problem. The below complete file path is more than 128 characters.
\Storage card\Programs Store\1234567890\12345678901234567890\123456789012345678901234567890\1234567890123456789012345678901234567890\abc.txt
Also, Mapking only search for mapfiles on the location that it is being installed. For example, if the mapking is installed in the phone/pocketpc main memory, it will only search for maps there. If mapking is installed in Storage Card, it will therefore only search there.
There are few senerios that will make users complain that mapking cannot work. For example,
1. For 1st start after installing mapking, if there is any directories/files that is more than 128 characters, mapking will exit after displaying the splash screen and will keep doing that.
2. If there is no directories/files that is more than 128 characters, after showing the splash screen, mapking will run and show the default mapfile(hk demo map). It will create a registry key in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Apps\MapAsia MapKing2007\Init
MainMapFile=\Where is the installed directory\Where is the installed directory\mapfile name.m7a
User can add additional maps on the place where mapking is being installed. In the phone/pocketpc main memory or the Storage Card, and the user will be happy.
3. But down the road, the user unknowingly installed some software or add any file that has a complete path name more than 128 characters, the user will still able to use mapking, but he can't Open Map(search for new map) any more. If he tries to Open map, the hour glass will keep spinning. If the user delete or move the map, the mapking program cannot run after the splash screen, it will says Cannot load map or no map found. The program is the registry key still remains MainMapFile=\Where is the installed directory\Where is the installed directory\mapfile name.m7a so, since the map stated is not there it will create an error and exits.
So long story short, if want to run mapking, don't create or have any directory or file path name that is more than 128 characters in the same memory location(phone/pocketpc main memory or the Storage Card) as mapking.

Hi guys!
tailazoom told me here that tomtom 7 creates a slow refresh of icons after soft resets or long standby periods...
I tried to uninstall it and everything worked well again.
I'd like not to revert on tomtom 6, which don't have this issue, so the question is: what ver.7 makes to create random 4-5 sec. freezes?
Is there any fix for it?
Thanks!

I haven´t any problem with tt7 and tomal´s v8.2.
Go to this url, you have everything about tt.
http://www.foro-elrincondedey.com/
Good luck!!!
Half fixed!
As I thought, the problem was caused by icons.
I simply created a new folder in \Windows\Start Menu\ called SD programs and moved all the links of sd installed apps there.
No more problems on Start->Programs.
The issue remains when I first access SD Programs. Device freezes for 10 seconds, then continue working.
The only idea I have now is to create an executable with the right icon that simply launches the program... So it would work...
Another little step:
after creating the new folder everything worked good, except while accessing that folder.
So I searched some launcher and I found VJBrisk which is useful to use an intermediate exe.
But when I replace in Start->Programs the links with the ones pointed to VJBrisk, I obtain the VJBrisk icon, not the one linked.
So, how can I change those icons?
The alternate idea was to create an exe which simply execute the program, and that contains the correct icon. Something similar may be made with MortScript, but it seems a little tricky to do...
Any suggestion?
Hi guys
There are loads of TomTom discussions but nothing i have found that helps me. Can any of you help. Before i waiste £28 on a map i cant get at
I bought an HTC HD2
Transfered my SD card over from my Touch HD and tried to load TT 7.14. it opened but didnt see my maps and i got the bluetooth error. So i installed the 7.15 peoplee here talked about, but still couldnt see my maps.
So i purchased new maps from TomTome site, plugged my HD2 into TomTom home 2.7.
TomTom home does not recognise the HD2 so i can not download my new maps.
Can i download my maps manually so i can put it onto TomTom myself, or have i just waisted £28?
Hey Mate i may be able to help,
Basically i had Tomtom 6 on my other xda handsets and transferred it over to the HTC HD2. now i did the same i brought the updated maps and the only way you can put it on your device is via the tomtom home, however tomtom home, newest edition doesnt work with mobiles, you have to download the older version 1.6 which is in small writting under the main download found on the website below
http://www.tomtom.com/services/service.php?id=16&tab=87
I had to contact tomtom cause i had same problem and he told me to do this, they say that HTC HD2 is not in there list as operating tomtom, but i told him mine works fine no problems and it still does, so this will help in getting the new maps on, all i can suggest is try this first and see if it see's the new maps.
what are you trying to do with bluetooth and tomtom to get bluetooth error??
nothing with bluetooth but when i install tomtom i get the usual bluetooth error.
cheers for the advice, i will try it and that you know
thanks

Hi
It is problem with tomtom and bloutooth. But you can by-pass this problem very easly. It dosent matter wich tomtom you install. I have installed ttn7.915.9196.qvga_black.cab and it is working perfect without any problem.
What you can do is!!
1) Install your tomtom as you used to.
2)Connect your HD2 to PC an syncronize it!
3) Open files on your HD2 and copy file name Navigator which is in file programs! copy whole file to your PC.
4) Then you have to unstall tomtom and reboot the phone
5)Then copy whole file as it is on your pc back to the phone!(navigator file)
If you click on tomtom navigator.exe then it will work as it was before. and it is no problem with bloutooth. But if you would like to have on your program list to that you can make short cut, you have to do this!
1) Now it is easy to make a file under progarms: You do such:
Start--- filemanaging---my unit(phone)---windows----start meny---programs
You make a new file. dosent matter the name.
2) copy file name tomtom navigator.exe to this file(look 1) Until here you can do it on your pc . But after that you have to do it on you HD2
3) Click on
Start--filemanaging--myunit---windows---start meny---programs---newfile(or what ever you gave name to).
4)push your finger on only file there by the name tomtom navigator.exe, then cut it.
5) click on up. It is left handside down. Then you are in the file programs.
6) pushyour finger somewhere on the screen.( Just like wright click on pc)
You chose her ;copy short cut.
7) now you can delet that file that is empety. If you dont it is ok.
It is finshed. If you click on start, you will find tomtom there now. If you did what I told you.
Good luck
thank you to both of you.

not sure if this message should go here or the generall forum
i had rom 1.48.asia and upgraded to shipped ROM 1.66 European. Now I see a new program called Copilot but when I run it it says error downloading files and it doesn't load. How can i get this thing to work?
Even more troubling is that footsteps application now try to redirect to this copilot instead of googlemaps. Since copilot doesn't seem to work, anybody knows how to make foot steps app show googlemaps when clicking on the map icon rather than the copilot which doesn't work ?
Thanks
the files are on the SD card that came with the HD2, assuming you had the CoPilot trial on your phone when you got it...
