map password screen to a soft (or hard) key? - General Topics

Is it possible to do this? I've searched and searched but no answer so far...
Thanks

why?
cant you just set the timeout before password to 0 ?

in most situations I'm ok with the 5min setting. But sometimes I need to lock it on the spot... :?

Lock Buttons

Hi,
I wonder if some of you guys know how lock the keypad and buttons of the Tornado.
My PDA HTC has this option, lock all the buttons except On/Off.
I can't find this funcionality in the Tornado.
When you have the mobile in the pocket, sometimes a call is performed....
Thanks guys.
Lock buttons
Press and hold the red phonebutton to lock the keys. That's one way but I hope there are other ways, 'cause there's no way to lock the buttons without leaving the program you're in at the moment...
...found out that you also can reach this function through the menu you reach when pressing the on/off-button. But it works the same way.
THANKS PTER!!!!
Block phone
Nice way, until now i used locking the keys through settings-protection (7)- block phone (1). Here you can enter a password and also a timeout after the block enters automatically. So I use a single digit password, and is similar the same.
But your way is maybe better, but is there also a feature to acitvate the block automatically?
Also see this forum which has lots of good stuff:

Password Protected Device Lock on Demand?

I'm looking for some software that will lock my 8525 on demand, hopefully through a today screen plugin. The app MUST require a password for unlocking. I have found some apps like Start Nice and Omega 1-Pass, but they are both explicitly incompatible with WM5. An app that merely triggers the built-in password protection would suffice.
Thanks in advance!
the default password function shld help. go to Settings - Lock. select "Prompt for device unused for" and then select 0 minute from the drop down, click ok to save. whenever u power off ur device and power it back on, the password screen shld prompt.
I do not want to have to enter a password every time I take the device off standby. I want to have a 1 hour usage timeout and a lock-on-demand button on the today screen as well.
I use mortscript, I wrote a script that I linked to an icon on my today tray launch.
You could do the same on your WM5 device. Some of the clever folk on here could help you with a script for your device.
Password lock on demand
Does someone know how to creake a desktop icon that will activate the password lock? The default password lock function allows activation after a specified period of time but it would be better if the password protect is active only when the phone has to be left alone, not while it is on person.
Found an old thread....but no solution
There was some debate on the topic in the past but no satisfactory solution was found!

Two little issues with locking and backlight

Hi Guys,
There are a couple of things I've not been able to get working in the way I'm used to on my Artemis, just wondered if anyone can help....
1) The require password when device is not used for x minutes, when set to 0 minutes on my Artemis, would only ask me for the password if it was coming out of standby... I'm trying to get the Polaris to behave in the same way. The gotcha with this is that having edited the settings on the Artemis, it doesn't behave like this anymore
What's actually happening is that when set at 0 minutes the device locks right away. I've now set it to 1 hour but now when coming out of standby I don't have to put the password in unless I leave it for an hour... Which is what it sounds like it should do, but not what I want, or what it WAS doing!
2) My backlight doesn't come on until I have fully unlocked the device... So I can't see the keypad or unlock button in daylight. My Artemis doesn't do this, the backlight comes straight on.
Any ideas are welcome
Thanks
LP
Wouldn't mind knowing about a reg tweak for the backlight/lock issue myself...
Screenlock? and backgrond light
I'v managed to get a screenlock function to work really nice. The Polaris is now always locked on start, exept for Answer/Reject soft and hardware buttons, plus that I can shut down the ringing with the volume button. Really nice.
The program that does it is Autolock. You find it att http://www.intelliott.com
The backlight problem was solved via a register hack found on this site.
At
\HKCU\ControlPanle\Backlight\LockLevel
Rename the folder to LockLevelX.
Does work even if the handset is soft resetted.
Thanks peta§,
That reg hack works pretty well
Any chance of a little more detail on the registry tweak. The backlight issue is really starting to annoy me.
Thanks
I followed the instruction in this link. It was quite easy:

peta§,do u know any registry tweak in order to disable key lock permanently?
Cheers Peta,
Worked a treat however, I don't understand why this was not done at the manufacturing stage unless it was purely an oversight.
Thanks
I agree MusicArtist, it should be activated in WM6 from the start. It's very interesting what can happen when you take your phone out of the pocket when a reminder calls for your attention, or a SMS or call is incoming and you by mistake presses some functions on the activated screen.
dene3erw, disabling key lock permanently? I don't follow. Do you mean the Autolock?
If so, ýou can find an icon in the Program folder, just to tap on it. It enables/disables the function.

A little help please

Hello, does someone know:
a way to map the "enter" or the key on the right of the screen in the middle of the 4 directions, to a customisable button ?
or
something that disable the function to switch of the screen when the screen is closed ?
or
something that switch of the screen that isn't just using the suspend function because for some aplications, using some key does switch on again the screen (so I also still need it to let me using keys).
don't ask why please...
Thanks for your answers, I searched for hours ...
well, I think the easiest way to do this is to switch the thing in the registry that switch off the screen when closing it, from 1 to 0, does someone ever had to edit it or saw it so I could find it faster ?
edit: is there something working as a game genie for the registry ? i mean, the search code option, here i would set "0" when the screen is open and "1" when it's closed...

Just install "Total commander" (http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm) , in your root folder go to \\Plugins\registry\HKCU , there you'll find what you're looking for!
try topaz keyboard controller, i use it and works well
I did it with Total commander!!! Thanx!!!
Is it possible for someone to make a cab for this? I've lost my own cab maker software and can't find it again.
Setting AutoDeviceLockEnable to 1 works only when you have a password set for the lock screen. I don't want to set a password, I just want to slide to unlock.
Also, this setting locks the device ANY time the backlight goes off, be it due to being left idle or pressing the power button. I only want it to lock when I press the power button, and want nothing to happen if the device just goes to sleep on its own. Is there any way to fix these with just reg edits? I don't want to install any software if it's not necessary.

But mine don't need to set a password
This is what I find for a long time, Thanks!!
WHen you use this option, your device will be locked after backlight goes off. If you just want to lock your phone after poweron try SmartLock!
