Ok, for the last time, i'll be lame and ask once again where the hell can i find out how to install WM2005 in my device?first of all, if i have an SD image from buzz lightyears site named:
Code:
WM5_SDimage_1.60c.00WWE_PS_128RAM_nocert_Hima.rar
which is the newest one from what i know, how do i install it? the files in it are:
1. SDimage_OS_1.60c.00_PS_128RAM_nocert_.bin
2. PostInstallFixes_WM5_1.60cWWE_Himalaya.cab
3. READ.txt --> which has this written in it:
3a.
1.60c.00WWE
128MB RAM
Persistent Storage
Removed certification.
Improved caching.
You MUST replace SD header with your own!
Replace everything between "REPLACE START" to "REPLACE END".
Please make sure you also install PostInstallFixes.
my questions:
1. what do they mean by saying SD header? which header?what the hell? the name of the SD image file? or my SD card? or what?
2. this install is different from the other classical installs, .bin should be easier, but at this moment in time its just confusing, therefore i'm wondering, what where and how?
3. copy these files first onto my SD card on himalaya and then what? or open file on pc?
4. cant emulate bin since no cue file and just doesn't wanna do that. exlpanation or solution?
5. please help me out guys. its important. or should i stick with the other file i have?:::
***** WM2k5_1.60c.00WWE_XDA2_HIMALAYA.rar *****
--> i do not understand the first 5 steps, atleast how to do them. here is attached the txt file. please read and explain.

Stick with it! It's the easier method to install.
The SD image version is just the same with the one you have, they just differ with the METHOD to install to your PPC.

we are trying to unlock and or dump the rom on the treo 750v. this is a newly released treo made by htc. the treo has an awesome feature called theeaded sms which does chat style sms.
we have tried the grab it program that was on this site with no luck.
does anyone no of a way to get this done? does any have any ideas of why the grab it program doesn't work. does anyone want to help?
thanks, cody
So far we've manage to get someone to try the grab_it tool from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=238945
But they are getting a write error. I assumed since the Treo 750v uses a mini-sd card the appropriate version of grab_it would be grab_it_128_minisd_468.exe. I'm trying to get someone to try the grab_it_128_150.exe version to see if that works, since that is the version BeyondTheTech used to extract the Treo 700w rom. The 700w uses a regular sd card though.
I asked the guy that tried grab_it_128_minisd_468.exe what the storage card folder name was set to and they verified that the registry was set to "Storage Card". So it's unclear to me why they are getting a write error. Maybe the minisd version expects something else? The card used was a 2GB minisd so it should have plenty of room for the rom.
Anyone familiar with grab_it know what is different about the minisd version? I read through the thread but it wasn't clear to me what the difference is.
Ok, I'm the one who's run the grabit tool on a 750v
It runs Ok and creates a 128Mb dump.bin file but the file appears to be mostly empty. If I zip the file up it only takes 147Kb which seems to confirm this. Am I doing something wrong or is it a bug in the tool
i have hope 750v user and appreciate your efforts

Can you upload the bin file please. I think someone here may be able to figure this out by looking at the contents of it.
If anyone has a source for a unlocked 750v let me know i really need one.
File and registry dump.

Hi, please can you do me favor? I have idea which can help us get SMS threading application and other palm features as well. If isn't possible dump ROM in this moment can you download Total Commander (freeware) http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm and do following.
1, Create foder on memory card and go to the Total commander.
2, go to the root of your device and copy to SD everything what is possible specially from Windows folder and Program Files (rest will be fine as well)
- this will take some time and in case of problem with file just skip that file.
3, When this will be done please go into the "\\" in the root and then to "registry"
4, now select registry tree one by one and copy again to card.
This will give us most probably files which will be required for hack and registry keys which will be required as well i think.
Thank you very much for your help.
Here's a zipped up copy of the dump.bin file, hope it helps
I extracted that dump.bin and it looks like a 256 byte block of data that is repeated at each 16 meg boundary 8 times.
Does this ring any bells to the experts?
The only readable text is "CHEETAH IPL EVT".
wow! that's great!
I don't have a Cheetah, but there's some info on the hermes forum that might be of interest to you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1019171&postcount=22
750v_User please try this program to extract the rom image.
unzip and copy TestDump.exe to your device and run it. In the "Path to file" enter the path for the dump file (i.e. \Storage Card\dump.bin). In the "Mbytes to dump" enter 128. Then press the "Dump" button. It should make a dump of the ROM file.
Zip it up and upload here. Thanks!

Based on the Hermes experience, there's no knonw way yet to extract it in a form that after is flashable on another device, but you can follow these instructions to dump some parts:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_HowtoDumpRom
You can also use pmemdump to copy some of the ROM contents to a file. Once you've dumped SPL you can search for strings on it and you'll see the bootloader commands.
HTC has removed all the "d2s, s2d, r2sd..." and like commands in the hermes bootloader, probably you are lucky and you have some command to dump the rom to sd in your bootloader.
Hope that helps
The ROM dump // extract discussion is over my head...one question though has anyone sorted out how to unlock this device?

750v ROM dump uploaded
I put a rom dump from the TestDump.exe tool on ftp.xda-developers.com. userid: xdaupload pw: xda
file: treo750v_dump_rom.zip
I used the dumprom tool to extract files, but it looks like it's only extracting the first rom section it finds and stops. Can one of the experts take a look at the dump and see if you can extract the other sections please.
Thanks.
What are you getting from the first rom section?
Sounds weird... was the dump complete?
It looked like a bunch of system files. The kernel, img.dll, filesystem drivers and the like.
There is 59MB of data in the dump so there has to be more stuff in there.

It doesn't matter where you put the .cab on your device (I have all of mine to my storage card). Once it is on the device navigate to the .cab and run it, it will install to where ever it belongs.

Instead of using winrar to extract the files from the .cab file, just save the .cab file itself onto your card and run it from your phone. Hopefully this isn't a case of the noob leading the noob, but I think that's how you do it.
Please do a little leg work before posting.

Hello, my name is George, and i am from Greece.
HTC Touch Diamond 2 is my first Windows Mobile ( i just get it from expansys), so i have a "stupid" question to make. How we can put applications, software, etc.? Please expain what we have to do, step by step. I thing that a lot of new users have the some questions ( and yes, i am 28 years old and i am using PC for over 14 years).
I have already download the first 10 steps that you suggest in forum. Now?
Give me, if you can, an example of one program. As " we find the program, we download it, exctract...".
Thank you, i am sorry if i tired you, and i am looking forward listen from you.
Sorry again if my question looks stupid. I just want to make any mistake. Thank you!

First of all get a backup program like Sprite Backup, see some help in this thread.
This helps you to get back to the last working level while trying themes, applications and software.
For themes, check this thread, it helps to customize your theme by yourself.
For applications and software, they either come as a Windows .exe file or as a .cab file.
For the .exe files, you start them on your PC and the software/application is installed on your phone through ActiveSync.
For the .cab files, you have to copy them to your phone (prefered to the storage card) and then start them there with the file explorer. The software/application will be installed then.
Hope this helps a little bit.

If it was just a theme, you should be able to go the Setting / Today and select HTC Black.

I have installed to storage card,
When I install it asks where I want to install it to device or storage card I presume I pick device,
Dose it automaticly install to the right folder, or do you have to direct it to the right folder ??
cheers
avtomaticy chooses folder //storage card/program files/"name of the program"
because diamond2 has lots of space, I choose for all must have programs* to install on the device, instead of choosing the memory card
*camera mod upgrade, advanced config. tool ...... stuff U don't want to lose if U replace memory card with another
Ok, new to all this. I have a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 CDMA. I flashed to an Energy Rom, looks great. Now... How do I load other software... games and such? I have looked around here, thinking it would be part of the first post, I was wrong. Perhaps this site is too advanced for that? If so, point me to a newbee site and off I shall ride. Thanks in advance for your help. This phone is awesome, and the Energy rom I loaded, looks sweet.

well. there is the microsoft marketplace. or .cab files.
.cab file instructions...
one. download application's .cab file. suggested list of applications can be found here.
two. move the .cab onto your phone's storage card.
three. on your phone, navigate to the .cab file with file explorer, or other like program.
four. open .cab file.
five. choose installation location. device or storage card.
six. select install.
seven. enjoy.
and i havent ever used marketplace before...
i always find the .cab file.
sh4d0w86.
Not to make fun, but it is pretty surprising the you are able to unlock the phone and reflash the OS, but can't install software.
If you search this site, Microsoft Marketplace, or just do a Google for "Windows Mobile freeware", you'll find many thousands of apps. Find the app you want, copy or download the .CAB file to the TP2, and execute it.
For example, Google "Google Mobile Maps", download the Windows Mobile .CAB file, and run it.
Thanks
Well, the instructions to flash a phone are detailed and many. One problem I had was I was dropping the 7zip file onto the phone. Also, I could not unzip the file with the extension of 7z because I did not have the correct unzip manager. Another issue was I was trying to Sync the programs to the phone. Thanks for clearing it up. Is there a logical place to put them on the phone to make them run fast? Thanks in advance.

Installing to main (internal) memory is much faster than installing to the SD (external) memory. Installing large programs to the SD card is the general rule of thumb for obvious reasons. It's up to you where you prefer to install them.
If you mean where should you put the actual *.cab files, then you could always delete them once they've been installed. You don't need them again unless you're going to flash constantly. It's always good to back them up, so storing them on your PC or the SD card would be preferable.
Thanks a bunch!
well, check out this thread..........
cabs just load on the phone and run like any program, just find the file and click it. exe's need to run from windows (regular computer) and install through activesync.

Excellent Thread!!!!!!!! I too made all those mistake and diddn't know how to load .cab files. This is my first foray into modding phones so this thread was quite informative.
Same as posted here "I have an HTC [differing: Touch Pro (Alltel CDMA)]. I followed the instruction on forum.xda-developers.com for [FRX*] but it [enters an endless loop] at "task rpcrouter:15 blocked for more than 120 sec". The solution that worked in that link does not solve the same problem with a CDMA RAPH800.
The solution given there (paraphrased from that thread):
Link to the fix. The issue is caused by not having a data plan; the install gets stuck in a loop looking for a signal.
The solution that worked for a GSM phone
download RIL file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...9&d=1302817139 and place in the root of microsd.
download rootfs file from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1NGCVCTT and place in the root of microso.
add to the end of /conf/froyo.user.conf file "/sdcard/libhtcgeneric-ril.so /lib/froyo/libhtcgeneric-ril.so" before the last "}"
Please help me find a solution for a CDMA phone - next month I'd like to take a dozen of these phones and use them as learning aids in a construction course for laborers, but I cannot start testing construction applications since I cannot get the OS to work.
I'm curious as to what happens when you format your microSD and run FRX7.1MR without anything additional. Could I get you to try this method without the additional stuff?
To be explicit, I'd like you to format your microSD with something other than the Windows method and I'd like you to download THIS (if you haven't already) and THIS. Extract the contents of both files to the root of your microSD. You should see a folder called "FRX07.1" and under that folder, you should see 3 folders and 7 files. Move the contents of that folder up to the root of the microSD. Look under the folder called "STARTUPS" and locate your device type (ie RAPH800) and copy over to the root of your microSD. Once done, run Haret on your phone and let me know what happens.
do you have an application you suggest for "format your microSD with something other than the Windows method"; sourceforge did not turn up anything.

use SDFormatter
wow that SDformatter link has a lot of popups - this link feels less like I just found a date at the bus-stop sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3 ; but it will not install on either Server2008R2 x64 or Server2003 R2 SP2 x32.
I reformatted the microSd with the format tool in Server2008R2 as FAT format. Installed the files, and boom - I see little green guys swirling around the screen. After awhile a dialog appeared "Sorry! The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"; the dialog closed and it seems like it works! Thank you. I will try again with the HPtool and as FAT32.
Now I just need to learn how to use Android - and the screen calibration seems off? Deleting ts-calibration and rebooting to calibrate.
Glad to hear using the latest bundle works for you! Yeah, that might be a slight issue with an outdated kernel. The main thing I wanted to do is get you booted up first!
Before we continue, make sure you make a backup of your current configuration by copying the contents of the microSD and either moving it to your computer or some other storage device. This way you know you have a "working" bundle.
Next we update the kernel package from HERE; might I suggest using THIS kernel package. Be sure to delete the old files (should be located under root of the microSD and called modules-xxx and zImage) first! Extract till you see two files then rename zImage-xxx to just zImage and feel free to delete the files you extracted from. I've always created my own ts-calibration file but just wanted you to have it, "just in case".
Additionally, you may also need to update the rootfs by deleting the file called rootfs and downloading THIS file. Extract the file and rename to just rootfs and be sure to place it where the file called Haret is (default location is root of the microSD).
files are downloaded and installed - everything seems to work
