IMATE JAM not booting up - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

My iMate JAM was going perfectly fine, it also had the latest WWE ROM, no issues. Now for some reason, I download from www.pocketgear.com and install the trial version of "Pocket Mechanic" which also installs "Pocket Hack Master 2005". While trying out "Pocket Hack Master 2005" which is a software to test the CPU speeds, as soon as I run this program, the screen freezes and my phone is dead. I try and reboot the device, but it is stuck at the blue boot-up screen, which just shows the POM versions.
Anyways, now, I decide to re-install the WWE 1.12 ROM and start using the device. But, no luck, on the PPC - the blue boot-up screen does not go away and on the installer screen - "Checking information on your device... Please wait...." and is stuck.
I think the device is not booting up and hence is being not recognised by the PC as a USB device.
Please help... I am dead...!!!!

did you try the standard hard reset?

I am sure you do NOT need to re-install the ROM.
If crucial Registry entries are deleted by accident the Operating System (i.e. the "RAM part" of it) might not boot anymore, but the ROM itself is not compromised.
Also Hack should only manipulate the registry and the Operating System on a software/RAM level. I cannot imagine that it would alter or destroy the ROM itself or the Bootloader.
Did you also try to "hard-reset" by pressing+holding power button while pressing the soft-reset-button-in-hole for a few seconds ?
This completely resets the device to the "factory default" (of the current ROM version) where you need to calibrate the screen again like after the very first power-up....you also lose all data and installed programs in the device, but I guess that is the least of your concerns now....

No ExtRom in Device Information, and Stays in Bootloader

I tried to update the rom for my MDA compact from the T-mobile website, but when i got to stage two (ExtRom update) it froze at 56%. No when i manage to get the device started up, there is no t-mobile branding (which is good i think unless i need it) and when i try to soft reset it stays in bootloader.
Problems: 1. Is it alright to have no ExtRom
2. Why does it stay in Bootloader when I try to soft Reset.
Any advice?
Jermz
****************Update************
I just tryed to update again, using the way on the Wiki and it froze at 56% again!!! Always the same percentage!!! The Rom I used is from the T-mobile Website, I will try an older rom and see what happens. Please some one reply.
************Update**************
So I tried an older rom, the one of the wiki, and it was working good, then froze on 26%, so I started up my device and it asked me to pick a customization.ie, UK_tmobile, Uk_Vodafone etc, so I picked Uk_tmobile, and it installed, but after, warning window came up saying the file Default_Caller_ID is not a Windows CE system file. Then froze my device, I soft reset, and it went back to bootloader. Why does it goto bootloader when soft resetted? Getting very scared, help!

JamIN rom update - loader screen

Hey all.
I have successfully managed to edit my jamIN extedendrom.
But... when I hard-reset the device to load the new extrom, the "loader screen" comes up showing what is installing etc.
The problem I have is this: One of my cab files installs antivirus software, but you need to tap "accept" before the software installs.
Because of the fact that this "loader" screen is in the way, I cannot tap accept and the rom installation just hangs there.
Is there any way to remove this loader screen, or make it go to the back whenever a popup comes up?
Thanx in advance!
You could try hard resetting your phone, after the screen alignment setup you get 3 seconds warning about loading the EXT ROM, just soft reset. You won't get the software from the EXT ROM, but at least you can edit the ROM again.
All the best

problem trying to flash ROM

hello, i currently have the faria rom installed. the rom version is 3.3.0.0 with extrom faria v4.0. whenever i try to flash a newer faria wm6 rom, it doesn't want to work. i open the upgrade utility and everything seems to be working fine, then when it starts the process it first tries to restart the phone, but instead of restarting, it just stays off and doesn't come back on. i tried other roms, and even the t mobile 2.26 rom and still no luck.. anyone have a clue to whats going on? thanks.
try install a different rom first to see if it does the same
I've tried 4 different roms including the official t mobile 2.26 rom and still no luck...
A friend of mine had similar. If you run any RUU program the phone just turns off and won't turn back on (without pulling the battery). We tried numerous things (including forcing bootloader by using the camera button and another with a method listed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294107 so give that a shot) and it still wouldn't work. He called Cingular and they are shipping him a new phone (warranty exchange).
Have you tryed HardReset & reinstall Active Sync and then try again to flash ?
thank you very much guys you were both biiiiiig help! i forced the phone into bootloader mode with the camera button, then turned it back off and on. then when i ran the update utility again this time it didn't just stay off it restarted normally and entered into the bootloader mode. thanks again!!

Wizard doesn't boot after uninstalling BatteryStatus

Hello everyone. I hope you can be of some assistance, because I'm really getting desperate.. I CID unlocked my wizard (i-mate k-jam) so that I could install WM6. I then installed XPlore 1.1 from anichillus. Everything went ok. Some time after, and looking to speed-up wm6, I installed BatteryStatus beta3. The PPC would freeze everytime I tried to overclock the cpu, so I decided to uninstall BatteryStatus. I got an error message saying that BatteryStatus could not be removed completely, but the today plugin wasn't there anymore, so I thought it had been removed correctly. I soft-resetted the PPC and now it doesn't boot anymore. It just stays at the boot screen listing ipl, spl, gsm and os. I used the usual key combination to get into the rom uploading mode, and I can upload any rom that I want, but all of them fail to boot. It just stays at the bootloader screen. I tried many roms, including the latest i-mate one.
Is there any way to recover from this? Is it possible that BatteryStatus made some irreversible modification to the cpu registers?
I'm far from an expert in these matters. Please help. My wizard was a big investment and I can't afford to lose it.
brafga_sat
Do a hard reset.
The first thing I tried was a hard reset, with no luck. I get a "Format is failed" output message.
Try this:
Disconnect the PPC from the usb. Kill the wcescomm.exe process on your PC. Take the PPC battery out for a few minutes. Replace. Put it into bootloader mode and reconnect. Reflash with the stock tmobile rom.
Hope this helps!
I solved the problem.. Followed the procedure explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276963

NBD 8.0 Won't start, A little help

I flashed to NBD 8.0 about a week ago and have been loving it's sweetness. Today though, I turn on my wizard and it won't get past the NBD startup screen. I have reset and taken out the batter a few times now to no avail. Can anyone help?
Could it be... dare I say.. Bricked.
Can't even do a hard reset.
Your gonna have to do a hard reset. i've had the same, but search to NBD8.0 forum the procedure is there if you can't google it for hard reset of your device. also try to keep your reply/questions in that particular post and try not create a post when one already exsits for the rom your using. They stress the fact that you must read before asking a question that's been asked a thousand times.

I had the same problem with a different rom, but the same OS. If you see the boot splash screen, and the boot stops in there, press the power button and keep it press when you notice that the boots hangs up. it might power off you device, o bring it to life.
To do a hard reset on a wizard, you must press the comm button + voice dial button + reset button (with the stylus).
Then press send when the screen ask for it.

Did you remove your SD card, sometimes that helps
Eelco
while doing your hard reset, don't let go of the two buttons after you have used the sylus.
NDB 8.0 stuck at the 3rd screen- PLEASE HELP!
I tried to remove the SD and SIM card - but it still doesn't work. No matter how I tried, I can't seem to able to get the the bootloader (3 colors) screens.
Thanks in advanced for your guys help!

I have the same problem too on v7.9 and v8.0. I've soft resetted the next day, and it always gets stuck on the 3rd splash screen. I tested this out a couple of times. But when I was using v7.4 I never had that problem.
I just had the same problem (stuck on NBD screen) with 7.9, after trying to access an html file saved on the sd card. A hard-reset solved the problem (after some brick-scare time, though ... )
the problem I have is I can't even get pass the 3rd screens. soft-reset and hard reset did not help. Tried to get the the bootload to reload the os but CAN'T.
The problem I have is I can't get pass the 3rd screen. Hard or soft resets didnot help. I want to reload the OS but CANT get to the bootloader screen. Tried all combination of keys that described on this forum. Anyone has any other ideas?

this should work:
- turn it off
- remove sd card
- while pressing the voicedial button turn it on (keep pressing the voicedial button till bootscreen appears)
- reflash os
It would help me a little if those who are having this problems gives more details (g3 or g4, ipl/spl version, extra software installed, do they use touch version or not)
Zoki, here are my details : NBD 7.9 touch on a G3, IPL/SPL 2.26, GSM 2.11 (the t-mobile version, i flashed the 2.69 version since) running BatteryStatus 1.04.201 beta3. Nothing more installed except tom tom 6.02 and opera mini 4 beta. I was browsing the minisd card with the built-in file explorer to open an html file with IE when it completely froze.
I tried holding the power button in order for it to reset, to no avail. I popped out the battery, remove the sd card, but it stuck on boot on the NBD screen. After trying several times, I hard-reset it, and it worked.
I count on upgrading to ipl/spl 3.08 before installing NBD 8.1.
Update: I flash on a laptop computer running XP Pro, and before installing NBD 7.9 I flushed the t-mobile 2.26 version, as recommended somewhere in this forum. Last program I installed, several hours before the freeze (and forgot to mention) was Deepfish (latest version).
Zoki, i am ready to help if you need to run tests/debug/log, thank you very much for your work !
Is the lock up happening after you install software?
I have experienced the same issue when I install any third party software into NBD V8. I think this is one of the best ROMs I have worked with and tested other than this issue.

My is a G3 Version.
CID Unlocked
IPL/SPL Versions 2.25
Base Rom V8, No changes, TouchFlo enabled
installed via ShellTool
OS of host machine: Vista Ultimate with XP HTC device drivers.
Issues installed when installing any cab file or installation from Active sync.
I had to do a reset and then I noticed it locks up in the NBD screen. The issue can only be resolved with a hard reset.
Hope this helps... Will be looking for any input and if I can help in any way! PM me!
Here is my setup
Mine is a G3 Version.
CID Unlocked
IPL/SPL Versions 3.08
Radio 2.19 and 2.69 (tried both w/ same problem)
Base Rom V8, No changes, TouchFlo enabled
I have installed:
Bluetooth Headphones
Hardware GPS unit
Coreplayer
iGo Myway gps software
Piscel Browser
Now I have tried to test it out to see what is making the system freeze on that 3rd screen. So I installed each of those programs. Then I do a soft reset. It starts up fine each time. My problem seems to happen like the next day or so. If I soft reset the next day, then it will freeze. So i'm not totally sure if it's 3rd party software or not. When I was using his 7.4, I had all these programs installed and no problems with soft reset.
I've done the take out SD Card, reboot and whatnot. Same problem. The only thing that works for me is to either Hard reset (holding comm manager button, voice record button + reset button) or to go into boot mode (power button + camera button + reset) and do the reflash.
Bottom line is though, it's a great rom, i love it. Having it freeze isn't totally a big deal to me, since I keep my stuff backed up through the PIM. I think I just need to stay away from doing soft resets. Hopefully someone will figure out what is going on with it. But for now i'm fine with it.
