What GPS system works best with Windows Mobile 5.0?? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Windows Mobile 2005 Upgrading

i am looking for a gps solution that works very well with WM5??
can anyone suggest anything??
i am after software and a gps receiver that works with a k-jam, jasjar etc.
Cheers

So far none of them use the WM5 Automatic GPS management... and none of them support one of the best features of WM5; softkey menu access. So... I would wait until they catch up and release new versions that are designed for Windows Mobile 5.

Sat Nav on the SPV C600

Hi all, I am about to get a new SPV C600 but as I currently have a HTC 9100 I would like to have sat nav on my new phone. Can anyone tell me if TomTom 6 is supported on this phone and if not which other products are likely to work?
Thanks.
why you cannot test it by yourself ?

If it os WM5 and you have Bluetooth I can't see the reason why not.
If it is WM6 than i could not tell you but you could olways test it but do perform backup before you atempt.
Still some issues with TomTom 6. It will run, but you can't navigate around the menus correctly. TomTom 5 works though, and the newest maps are still released for use on version 5.
Personally I'm using Route 66, which looks a lot better and is more user-friendly on Smartphone than TT5. Plus it has free traffic updates built into it...
I believe CoPilot is also pretty good on Smartphone, but I've never used it. Route 66 all the way for me. (And yes, any bluetooth GPS "mouse" should be fine with the Tornado)

Best PDA Phone for me?

I have a HTC Wizard and I love the fact that I can extract and rebuild ROM's really easily. However since there is no native Windows Mobile 6 release for it I think it's limits have been reached with two key components - namely the integrated VoIP client and L2TP/IPSec VPN. I have had both of these working but neither with any consistency and it appears it is a lack of driver support on the Wizards side.
The 'leaked' M$ internal testing of WM6 (5.2.318) was the only 'real' version and since then WM6 has progressed quite a lot, but we are still stuck with the original drivers from this release and there are compatibility issues.... HTC isn't going to update any drivers so I think the Wizard is going to have to get replaced by something newer. I would still like the flexibility of building my own ROMs though - I remember having a HP iPAQ 6365 and there was absolutely no way this was possible with this.
What are my best options? It MUST have 802.11G WiFi, stable VoIP & L2TP/IPSec and the ability to create my own ROMs. It must also have a touchscreen (so no smartphones), pull-out keyboard, camera and I would like it to be smaller than the Wizard.
Any ideas?

Is this for AT&T blackjack II's only?
Cannot change GPRS Settings - Locked to AT&T
I just upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.1 and it worked like a charm and from first glance it looks amazing however I am stuck with no Internet access.
I am not using AT&T network and everything works fine (calls in/out) but the GPRS settings are locked to AT&T.
I tried adding a new connection but it won't work since the pre-configured AT&T settings cannot be removed.
Can anyone help me unlock the GPRS settings?
Thanks

In the text is written under the xp section that it is specific for at&t, but at the vista version not. So I don't know if the remark is for both versions. You can try
A quote from samsung.com:
This upgrade contains several enhancements and features. Highlights are listed below.
Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1w/AKU1.0.1
Windows Mobile 6.1 includes new features such as bla bla bla useless info

AKU 1.0.1 means build number between 19202 and 19212, so that build is too old, because there is a newer build 19593 (AKU 1.1.7) from Pantech Duo
yep, and even a 19700 in the Q9h!

From the About:
Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard
CE OS 5.2.19208 (Build 19208.1.0.1)
Radio Version i617UCHH2
RIL Version 2.002
...and for the record, in typical AT&T fashion, they ****ed with stuff to be "smart" and it broke stuff. I'm an actual AT&T customer and I have problems getting some things to connect because of their STUPID, ****ING locked internet settings. So for those of you that are on T-Mobile or Rogers or whoever with an unlocked BJII, you'll have to unlock the internet settings to be able to connect.
Now where's my reg editor so I can fix that?

ATT ICS uses "isp.cingular" (tethering) whereas MEdia Net uses "wap.cingular" (general internet).
Also, the ATT ICS and MEdia Net entries in the connection settings dialog are read only and won't let you edit them, But if you navigate to:
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4...}\Connections
There will be 2 keys in there. one for ATT ICS and MEdia Net. In those keys there will be a value of ReadOnly. Change the value for these from 1 to 0 and reboot your phone. These connections should now be editable.

app unlock not working
followed the instructions on a fully, properly upgraded BJ2 (radio and OS confirmed) and followed the instructions for the modaco hack and sda unlocker and nothing is changed. I cannot modify the GPRS setting nor make modification in the registry...any clues?
Has anyone been able to add Google Search or a Weather plugin to the new "Sliding" Homescreen. I remember seeing a weather and stock quotes Home Screen plugins in the new HTC phones. I believe these plugins where custumized for the HTC phones, but they "should" work with the new WM 6.1 BJII Home Screen. Someone over at HoFo mentioned that the weather and stocks plugins might be for WM Pro (touchscreen) and therefore won't work on WM 6.1 Standard. I used Google Search with 6.0, but it won't install in the "Sliding" HomeScreen of 6.1.
Anyone?

check out the link in my post. I followed that and had no problem editing and deleting the settings. SDA App Unlock worked fine too. Don't bother with the GPS unlocker. I don't think you need it anymore.
*BUT*
It worked for me so it should work for you...
Good luck!
Remapping the BJII's CV and AT&T keys is easier in WM 6.1 than it was in WM 6.0. But I have been unable to find or figure out how to remap the Press-Hold Home Key in WM 6.0 or 6.1. I want to remap the Press-Hold Home key to start CeleTask instead of Task Manager as I find CeleTask a bit more useful. I like the new new Sliding HomeScreen, but it does not allow one to use apps like Right Menu and Smartoolkit. I know it can be done because I have used XDA cooked ROMs in my Qtek 8310 that had CeleTask remapped to the Press-Hold Home Key. Anyone?
I am glad I found this, works great on my wifes bj ii

change Bluetooth stack on cotulla powered device

Hello,
did anyone successfully install a different bluetooth stack on a cotulla rom ?
i tried bluesoleil (but i only have a pretty old version). i also tried the toshiba stack (also pretty old version, build for 2003).
both work fine on 2003SE - but none of them work on cotulla rom.
anyone successfully did this ? or what about widcomm/broadcom ? what's so special about the magician bluetooth - i've never seen a widcomm version for magician - but for almost every other HTC device.
(i need a better stack than MS - since MS does not support BT LAN access, neither PAN (client))
In reality it's not easy to change BT Stack on Windows Mobile device...
Now my roms are using MS BT Stack...
I have some research and maybe some future versions will have BroadComm stack...but not sure...
Hello Cotulla,
nice to see you're answering about the bluetooth issue ;-)
broadcomm/widcomm stack would be great off course!
... in the meanwhile: as far i know, no broadcomm exists for magician - not even for the old ROMs - i never understood why (different BT hardware i guess ?).
but
- toshiba and
- bluesoleil exists for the old ROMs
they work - if you disable the microsoft drivers (cause it's not possible that both drivers use the same hardware - i guess).
bluesoleil: comes with a tool to disable the MS stack.
toshiba: you have to do it manually by taking off bticon.dll from HKLM/services.
so i have a question:
"taking off bticon.dll" from HKLM/services" is for 2003SE -> what is to do in WM6 to disable the MS-stack ?
maybe the toshiba/bluesoleil would even work ? did anybody tried before ?
or is this bull**** ? i heard of different "driver-models" between CE 3/4 and CE 5 - so is it even possible to use drivers from CE 3/4 on CE 5 ? i don't know! but i'm sure, you know ! ;-)
thank you cotulla for your great work! i'm wondering how you managed to get that much knowledge about this device! great!

Looking for a good GPS software for HTC HD2

Hi everyone,
I am looking for a GPS software for the HTC HD2. I would like to use GPS offline since I don't have internet or data plan on the road.
Any suggestion would greatly appreciated

i have the same problem too
and i cant find any online!
Offline Navigation Software HD2
Hey,
I found iGO 8 is a really good navigation software and you can get it for HD2
It has the capability to be used offline as you download the map itself with the software
You can download it straight to your storage card and run it from there
Hope this helps...
I have been using iGuidance 4 on my Dell Axim, then on my Kaiser and now on my HD2. It is the best. The 2009 version has lots of problems on HD2.
