It did it to me today (just once) I restarted tomtom and had no more problems for the rest of the drive. I'm getting a bit suspicious tho, maybe it's not so stable as I thought.
favourites, home etc are saved normally
try and alternative sd card, i had lots of weird problems with tomtom shutting down and general lockups.. New sd now ok
if you get the issue where you cannot save fav's or home location, put the sd car into a pc 2k or xp and right click on the maps folder and check the folders and contents are not set to read only.. had me stumped for a bit..
turn off all your POI's in the menu (dont show them at all) and Im 99% sure the problem will be gone
something's fishy about TT5 and POI's
I had the same problem, and used this patch
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/james.lord/PatchPoiTTN5.rar
which was posted in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=24268&highlight=tomtom
Never had any problems since, using loads of POI's.
Hi neostar,
If this one is working we'll owe you much.... In my case, I was never able to use POI functionality(from the very beginging).
For the rest, indeed, if you don't want to have weird behaviour, stop using POIs...
Regards,
R.
tge problem on mine is with the poi,i can click on all the poi except one.if i click on the cash dispenser one that's when it crashes and turns off!strange?!?!

Switch off POI's !
I also had the same problem, up until recently where everything has been working perfectly, and I have noticed my POI's are actually off. As soon as I switch them on......TT5 closes.
try having some on but not cash dispenser, then, turn them all off and put the cash dispenser on.that's what closes it for me
POI
Indeed TomTom does not crash th moment hen I use POI (after installing the patch neostar pointed). But now:
1. The routes are not saved after restart
2. The favorites are lost after restart.
As a matter of fact, all the settings that were in place before installing the patch are preserved, nothing done after the patch installation is preserved.
Cheers,
R.
It's not the patch, cause I use it too and my settings are saved!
Good point,
What should be the reason than ???
10X,
M.

excellent, works like a charm, thx
I have the same problem too..
I lose all my favorites e.t.c each time I close down the tomtom.
Any ideas?
To solve the Home/Favourites not saving, make sure every file in your Map folder is writable (i.e. not Read Only)
To solve the crashing issue, download a working POI.DAT file... one of the TomTom cracks included a GB map with a corrupt POI file... there are cracks with a working one.
try renaminmg the 2577 folder to something else
I had a problem with the app reinitialising itself every time I turned teh device on - this soved it
Hello folks, HELP PLEASE!!
My XDA crashed today and I lost everything!! I am trying to reload tom tom 5 from the 256mb sd card, I'm not too technical and every time I use the restore function it seems to be causing a problem with my bluetooth (BTTrayCE.exe - some error saying there is not enough disk space to open bluetooth radio) - either that or the XDA is faulty.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to reload the tom tom or where I could be going wrong??
Many thanks!
I installed the tomtom 6 from the instalation cd, then used activesync.
after it installs i click tomtom and it says i can download 1 free city map.
the problem is that when i press download it gives me a error message that says
Error download failed, cannot create pruduct code.
the map i am trying 2 download is Brooklyn, NY (usa)
i tried contacting tomtom and so far no help,
*update* tomtom linked the map with my account so that i can download it.
i downloaded the map but the file type is "application" i dont know how to get this to work on my touch cruise
i synced and placed it in the tomtom folder but that did nothing. Is this the correct file type that i am supposed to have? did i put it in the correct spot? I have no idea what to do.
any1 have any ideas? Thanks

Download and install TomTom Home on your PC/Laptop and from there update your device map.

i already have tomtom home on my PC, when i click update device or add maps, it says:
1) connect device to computer
2)switch on your tomtom device
3)If device ask do u want 2 connect to computer click yes on tomtom device
After a few moments computer should recognize the tomtom device and continue automatically.
I connect my phone and it active syncs, but the device never gets recognized by tomtom home and there is no way to "turn it on".
i have no idea what to do, this is very frustrating

The best way I could think of at this time is and start from Fresh Installation. Thats what I did when I was having problems with HTC mail.
After Hard reset, I installed first the Tom Tom software, acivated Tomtom on the device and saved the map tothe MicroSD card. softresetted and connect it to my Laptop (XP), then activated connection with my Tomtom Home and the device.
i just tried a fresh installation, i hard reset my cruise and reinstalled tomtom.
i still get the error message when trying to download the map. tomtom home still doesnt recognize my device.
Any ideas?
I have been using my PDA for some time now without major troubles, but now the TomTom Navigator 6 application can't start anymore. When I start it, I get the errormessage: "Unable to start. An error occurred accessing a file".
Well, I tried to deinstall and reinstall the TomTom application (I bought a full licenced version), but that results in the same error.
I can't find anything, like a log or so, on which file can't be accessed, so I'm hopelessly lost now...
Anybody any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I have an HTC Touch Cruise with windows mobile 6.1. I use it on my motorcycle with TOMTOM NAVIGATOR, and earphones. I config TOMTOM, push the today screen and lock my phone. It works perfect for 10 min.
After the 10 min, windows mobile displays a message:
"TOMTOM NAVIGATOR is still running an using the battery would you like to close NAVIGATOR", you must aswer the question with YES or NO.
If you do not answer the question, windows mobile close the NAVIGATION software. > very irritating....
Is there an solution to disable this battery saving function, so the NAVIGATION software must never stop automatically...
Thanks
it only asks if tomtom is running in background
I reckon your screen lock is behaving as foreground app. first try to run tomtom without keylocker, if the issue is gone, search for different keylocker.
otherwise, there is no trigger, nor registry for this.
Not working
Hello,
I have tried to not locking my phone, but only running tomtom with windows mobile today screen.
Then also i recieve the question.. Are there other solutions, or this problem ?
something is running in front of it. Something on your pda is behaving as front app. You need to find out what is it and stop it from running.
use a proper task manager like fdc. post out list of processes here. We will tell you what else it could be. Which procs are required and which you can safely kill.
There is no tweak to stop the pop up question. You can run a script which would wait for it and always answer yes, but that's not proper solution
reply
Hello,
If you have an script what always saying NO, it is perfect.
Here are the proccesse that are running:
NK.EXE
filesys.exe
tmail.exe
device.exe
SAPSettings.exe
gwes.exe
shell32.exe
services.exe
connmgr.exe
cprog.exe
QuickDail.exe
APLauncher.exe
MediaHubMini.exe
Biotouch.exe
GNAngent.exe
sddaemon.exe
repllog.exe
TaskManager.exe
TomTom Navigator.exe
Do you know what procces is causes the note? maby i can kill it..?
These you can kill safely:
in order what I suppose could cause your trouble.
GNAngent.exe - google nav
APLauncher.exe
MediaHubMini.exe
QuickDail.exe
SAPSettings.exe
Biotouch.exe
these below are just standard winmo apps, shouldn't be doing problems, but you can close them for a try:
connmgr.exe - comm manager
tmail.exe - mails
repllog.exe - activesync
sddaemon.exe - speed dial
cprog.exe - phone functions
can't kill:
services.exe
device.exe
shell32.exe
gwes.exe
filesys.exe
NK.EXE
===
use the same proram for closing app, upper toolbar on bottom, 3rd icon from left. close all except those I wrote you can't and give it a try.
it should help, then you need to find out which of them is trouble maker and remove start command of it.
If this won't work, I can send you that script.
Not working
Hello,
I have killed all the proccess:
GNAngent.exe - google nav
APLauncher.exe
MediaHubMini.exe
QuickDail.exe
SAPSettings.exe
Biotouch.exe
connmgr.exe - comm manager
tmail.exe - mails
repllog.exe - activesync
sddaemon.exe - speed dial
cprog.exe - phone functions
But no results, i recieve again the note... to close tomtom. Please can you send me the script. So i can try it.....

try the new version first,
for this script you need to install mortscript (cab\mortscript-ppc.cab). then copy file RunTT.mscr from runTT.zip to windows folder and .lnk file to windows\start menu\programs
I have no idea if it will work though. there is commented out another option for pressing the key, try to switch them if it will not work like it is.
Hey guys.
Was a solution found to this? I too use TTNavigator7 on my motorbike and have the same problem with WM6.5 closing TTN after 10 minutes. WM6 asks if I would like to close Navigator and if I don't answer, Navigator is closed and then the phone goes into sleep mode after the normal sleep timeout.
Of course, I could power up the phone when on my bike using a USB cable, but that would negate the benefits of the Bluetooth receiver that I've just attached to my intercom system on my Harley.
The HD2 was an upgrade from a TYTN II running TTN6. The timeout problem did not occur with that combination!
I've tried to stop the problem using Keepawake and Deltalock but neither works (I used Deltalock successfully on my previous phone).
I so hope that there's a decent solution to this problem.

Hi Papo
I've installed MortScript and tried out your RunTT script. Mortscript seems to not be recognising that Windows has displayed the notification. I suspect that it may be because it's a notification rather than a full window - does this seem likely to you?
I'm sure that this is where the problem lies - I've added lines to the script to display debug messages and the code to respond to the notification is never getting executed.
Is there any way that you can suggest to trap the notification within Mortscript please - I haven't used Mortscript enough to know where to look next.
Thanks
Neil
Hi Guys
I've cracked this problem - I couldn't do it by trapping the notification, so I attacked it a different way. The attached script just counts how long TomTom has been in background and then makes it the active window every nine minutes to stop the timeout.
If external power is used, or if TomTom is brought to foreground, then the counter is reset and the counter is only restarted when the power cable is unplugged or TomTom is sent to background.
The process relies on the KeepAwake program. The script will automatically load KeepAwake if it's not running.
It's my first Mortscript, so it may not be coded the way experienced scriptwriters would write it so if anyone wants to suggest improvements, then I'll be happy to take them on board.
When I'm out and about on my bike, I use a program called deltaLock by Christophe Sommer to lock the screen. I set deltaLock to use the HTC back button to unlock and Lock Mode set to "black screen" (I used this on my Tytn II with TTN6).
Happy to receive any feedback
Neil
