I have upgraded recently the software on my xda 2s (version 1.31.139) and it looks like I’ve done a big mistake. Can anyone advise where I can find the old version (1.12.178) to downgrade and enjoy my device again? O2 refuses to accept any responsabilities and don't want to send me the previous version. Believe it or not, they say they haven't got it any longer.

Hi folks,
I was interested in upgrading to WM5.0 from WM2003 on my SPV M2000 (=XDA 2). However since I've come here i've got the impression that it could be riddled with problems. I'm a total n00b and I've been overwhelmed with different ROM versions and fixes....I wondered if you folks could help me a bit.
Is it worthwhile to upgrade? What has your experience been?
Will old WM2003 programs work on WM5.0 (I have loads of them)
Are there any bugs I should know about or will everything run smooth?
What are the disadvantages?
How do I go about upgrading? I upgraded my ROM once before using an update released by Orange. But the .exe file did it all for me. All I had to do was connect the device via the cradle and click next (pretty much).
Cheers folks! Much appreciated.
PS - is this the correct forum? (I'm guessing SPVM2000 is a hymalaya)
PPS - sorry if some of these questions have come up before. I'm sure a few of them must - I checked as best I could but I'm a total n00b and I'm dyslexic which doesn't make post plodding easy.
Thanks again!

Hi i was wondering the same thing.
I do have a XDA II MDA II so please tell me if this is easy. i'm also a noob and dont want to screw up my new phone i got right away.
Hi
I bought a O2 Exec and it has WM06 on it
I want to go back to WM05
How do I go on with that?
Thanks
Yeshai
well technically you flash it so i have heard. but dont go on my word im just telling you what i have found when I SEARCHED
If you are on O2, the easiest way is to visit the O2 xda website (http://www.my-xda.com/xdaExecSoftware.jsp) and download the software update. That will flash it back to a pretty unresponsive (but official) version of WM5. Make sure you use it in corporate mode (the PIN you need when you come the the appropriate place in the setup is 0506) otherwise it is extremely slow.
Alternatively, you could try downloading one of the AKU 3.3 or AKU 3.5 ROMs. I always liked Helmi's. Search the forums to find them.
Also - make sure you read the relevant advice in the wiki and in the forums on upgrading lest you end up with a brick.
Good luck
Problem is not backstepping, but finding, after so long, the roms you might read about and would like to try!
Thank you all
I was too afraid to try it like that.
It does seem strait forward.
And I have a full backup of XDA old FTP site
i downgrade to wm5 now
need help for downloading O2 plus for xda iis pocket pc cell phone pl.
This is one that I have had for sometime, but I assume your search !! hasn't not revealed another copy. Look under blue angel forum for anything related to XDA IIs - that is where you are sure to find apps. BTW use at your own risk...I collected the software and saved it, cannot support it nor do I use it anymore.
i have noticed on the official o2 xda site that they have brought out an official upgrade for the o2 xda orbit.

anyone any idea if they will be releasing a wm6 upgrade for the o2 xda mini s
I e-mailed O2 asking if/when an update would be made available, a month ago. No reply from them yet though, so don't think it's going to happen
o2 update
just received email from o2 stating that they will not be releasing an update for the o2 xda mini s.
but if anyone can help here is the web page

maybe somebody could extract the files and make it work so you can upload it onto an o2 xda mini s
any ideas
You want to be looking in the Wizard WM6 forum. Read up on what you need to do and flash one of the many excellent ROMs in there.
You cannot install the Orbit ROM!
Hello everyone,
i've posted it on the Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking section but maybe it is more indicated to be here... I'm new here...
sorry for posting this noob questions here, I see that you all are discussing software development and stuff, but it is the only place I've found to ask about it.
My situation: I have a Dell Axim X51v wich is still on warranty and CompleteCare (until march 2009!). It has a WM5 A04 Portuguese Rom wich is very unstable and quite lame (I don't like the system in portuguese!) and I'm looking forward to use the WM6 Football Rom, that everywhere I read says its very nice.
The fact is: If I had to call Dell for support, I'll need to give them the Ax with the WM5 Portuguese rom. I really consider this since the device isn't brand new and if something happens I don't want to loose it.
So, what I need to know is how (and if it is possible of course) to get the image of my Ax as it is now, to store in a safe copy on my pc or a cd, upgrade to Football's WM6 (wich version, btw? I see that there are RTM and Preview A06 on the thread) and then eventually get it back to my current rom, if I need to use the warranty. I know that the upgrade part is well documented around the internet, but the downgrade to the same or similar system is the major doubt.
I'll be grateful for any help. I'm new to all this and there are lots of knowledge around. Never had any experience flashing, just upgraded my ROM one time with the official procedure from HP, on my old Ipaq.
Thanks!!
anyone here?
Hi,
I work as a support analyst at Dell headquarters.
I wanted to let you know that the A04 ROM for the Portuguese version of WMV 5.0 can be downloaded from our website. You can find it here:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&releaseid=R131773&SystemID=PDA_AXIM_X51&servicetag=&os=PPM&osl=BP&deviceid=7638&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=4&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=7&fileid=174977
That should help out. Let me know if you have any problems.

This is John again. After posting that link, I realized that the link was for the x51 ROM. Do NOT download that link!
The link to the x51v is here instead:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R131772&SystemID=PDA_AXIM_X51&servicetag=&os=PPM&osl=BP&deviceid=7643&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=5&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=7&fileid=174968
Sorry for the confusion!

Thanks John!
If I run this brazilian WM5 rom "update" application of version A04, it will install on my X51v even if it has installed on it a more recent english WM6 rom?
If so, I don't have much to lose testing the hacked rom... of course, there is the risk of bricking it if I make the wrong procedure, but I guess that is well documented around here, right?
thanks again!
You should be able to flash the ROM, even if a more recent version is installed. You shouldn't be bricking your Axim by doing any of this.
Glad I could help!
all right!
I shall try the alternative roms then!
but, I am downloading this rom from dell:
http://support.dell.com/support/dow...-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=7&fileid=174968
it seems to be the right one since mine is X51v 624 mhz.
