XDAiiS & Tomtom not savings settings - General Topics

HELP!!
Updated to Navigator 5.1 thanks to some great advice here, but Navigator still isn't saving my Home, Favourites etc...
Anyone know how (or if) I can get it to do so?
Thanks in advance

tomtom
I had to copy maps to desktop, right click properties and un tick read only, move back to folder and it all works.

Thanks.
Am I right in thinking the maps should be stored on the storage card? Mine are just in 2 folders - 1 for GB & 1 for Austria.

Oh No!!
did as you suggested, but now it can't find the maps at all!!
Can anyone tell me where the map files should be stored - thanks.

You can get TT to save home location, favourites etc by deleting the Great-Britain-Map.cfg file. This will then be re-created the next time TT loads and now retain your information

TOMTOM 5 - No Maps found

Anybody know how to add a map in Tomtom 5?, I have copied Deutschland-Map to my SPV M500 but my Tomtom does not recognize it.
I have tried to modify a file in MyDocuments called "CurrentMap.dat" by way of copy the file on my PC and open it with a notepad. In my case the maps were located on the Storage Card then just insert the path where the maps are located. I.E : \Storage Card\Deutschland-Map\ but still it doesn't work...!! :? Any idea would be highly appreciated..!!!
take the card out soft reset then put the card back in if that doesnt do it try a soft reset with the card in
tomtom map not found
I found this to be a problem also. I've got all the maps on the storage card along side the GREAT BRITAIN map and it doesn't pick them up.
I also tried amending the CURRENTMAP.DAT file to reflect the correct path, but nothing changes. Has anyone else suffered with this that could help us please? as this is getting really frustrating.
yes, this makes frustration as Tomtom5 doesn't pick the extra map like Deutschland, Great Britain, Spain etc etc.
In this case, my standard map is Benelux so after I modify the file called "currentmap.dat" in Tomtom folder like : \Storage Card\Deutschland-Map\, it always returns to Benelux map and no other map options.
Before I changed that file the size was about 31kb, after I changed it became 62kb, however...once I started Tomtom to see whether it picked the Deutschland map, it returned to the original size of 31kb.....****t...!!! (
anyone can help me pleasseee...?
Map Not Found
Hi Guys, i Have had the map not found error a few times, i find its some how deleting this file from my memory card " Great_Britain_Plus.mid " not sure why. Once i put it backin the zip folder all is g00d, think it could be my windows media player adding it to libary en me removing it.. who no's.. hope it helps .. LAterZ
I also meet this problems. Map not found...
any ideas?
map not found
I simpley reinstalled the Tom Tom 5 software and it found the maps straight away!
I found this solution for me.
In each map folder there is a PNA file, e.g. Great_Britain-Map.PNA, this can be opened with notepad.
The last line of this PNA file for the maps that did work no problem were all the same number, 566. So, I opened their PNA file and changed that number to be the same as the maps that did work and bingo. it picked them up.
Give it a go.

USA Maps
I don't have the USA maps for TomTom 5....can anyone help me out!?
Matt
I had this problem when i first used TomTOm
The way i got it working was to install again but make sure you install the benalux map, leave it there then add your own maps.
Once your map is installed and youve ran TomTom, swap to your map then you can remove the benalux map.

Does anyone know why and if there is a way to get round this??
Thanks in advance

You do exit in the correct way dont you?
Make sure all the files are not 'read only'...

hamzar,
Make sure your SD card is not locked, and delete the (map_name).cfg file in the map folder. Next time you start tomtom, the file is recreated. Should sort it, jobs a good'un, etc.

Your maps need to be in the root of your storage card (not in any subfolders!)
Grtz,
Degake
On SD card create directory for each map e.g. UK, Western Europe etc...
If it doesnt work you use incompatible TT and map version (some TT7 doesnt work with any map 8.35 etc)

That is not exactly true...your maps can be placed in "My Documents" folder on your storage card as well... it will read them with no problem at all.

I know, I know...
I meant it's best if you just made the map directories directly into root of your storage card this way you'll have the best possible way of organising all of the files - I think -.

CoPilot – POI – public Toilets – how do I convert from TomTom POI?

Don't know why its taken me so long to follow up on this issue.
I've found a TomTom – VIC Public Toilets.ov2 – points of interest set.
I've also found that I can import them to my PC and also to my HD2 using CoPilot Central.
The trick is that the phone has to be actively connected via sync and NOT just plugged into the PC via the USB cable.
Then in copilot central | My Copilot | My Points of Interest | POIs on My Device
Although the table never shows anything I can Import the POI file and the POI image.
I even get a message to restart CoPilot to use the new POI set.
However, the new POIs never show and I can't figure out how to select them etc.
Any help from anyone who has successfully imported POIs for CoPilot would be greatly appreciated.
Copilot use CSV format for is POI.
You need to convert your OV2 to CSV.
Works fine for me.
xxxp://tomtom.gps-data-team.com/poi/ov2-to-csv.php
Hello,no convert necessary, just copy and paste ov2 poi in folder COPILOT/SAVE on your storage card and run Copilot . Poi will be added automatically . Otherwise you can import them with copilot central on your computer .
Hi guys,
Thanks heaps for the replies,
As I mentioned in my initial post, I DID use Copilot Central to import to my device.
But the POI never showed in the Copilot Central POI table.
I just tried to create a 'save' folder on the storeage card
using ActiveSync but it gave me an error.
I then connected as a disk drive and found the 'save' folder was already there.
The 'save' folder already contained the .ov2 and the .bmp.
So CoPilot Central must have worked.
The 'save' folder must be hidden under ActiveSync Folder Browser.
Now, how do I get CoPilot to recoginze the new POIs?
Or get CoPilot to show me that it had already loaded the POIs?
Or how to tell CoPilot to show me the POIs on the map.
etc.
Do you check them in settings/poi display ? Like i mentionned above,i just copy poi.ov2 in the save folder .
That was it?
Nothing else.
No setting tick this then reboot etc?
Farkle!
Will remove CP then reinstall and see.
It works for me,so no reason that it doesn't work for you ...
LOL. It might have worked for you with an extra tick here or there.
Nope. Removed and Reinstalled CoPilot.
Not happening.
Will reboot and see.
Well that was weird.
It asked me to install a .cab.
I did. Missed the name. I think it was a Copilo something .cab
Just installed
Wasn't not required to reboot.
And ran CoPilot.
CoPilot tells me there is a new POI.
Asks me to accept it.
Asks me to name the new catagory
then asks me to select the icon.
Then imports 1300 some odd POIs.
Still Not showing on map.
Had to go thru POIs to tick the very last one.
And Yep! Finally! There it is! My new POIs showing on the map.
That was weird!
Thanks for the help all.
All my best.
Happy for you that it works ...
remove please

[Q] Copilot V8 with Pcvar 23569 ROM

I have installed copilot 8, done the Navisw registry tweak and installed a copy of alksdk.dll from V7.
I still cant get copilot to navigate to a footprint using the Nav button in footprints. Copilot fires up correctly but it doesn't appear to pass the Lat/Long correctly.
Footprints shows me the Lat/Long of the photo so I guess it is geotagged correctly.
If I transfer the photos to Storage Card\My Documents\My POI I can select one from Copilot but it says that it is not geotagged.
The end result is as above - I can't navigate to a footprint
I have searched and read other posts on this topic but remain confused as to whether it is possible to get it to work or not.
Any clues/opinions/help would be appreciated.
Many thanks
Neil
