[Q] Newbie question please answer

I recently started rooting and flashing and, I was wondering where the backed up ROMs are saved? I wanna format my SD card to remove all unnecessary files so I can make room for more ROMs.
I wanna be able to keep my sense ROM just in case something goes wrong and I need to take it into Sprint and, if the ROMs are saved to the SD card I don't want to lose it.
Thanks for reading and any insight would be great!

I am using a 64gb Sandisk in my 7+ right now. You have to format it in the device to get it to recognize all of the storage.
