I have updated my t-mobile MDA Compact to WWE_11200_128_11210 and I cannot create a com port for my bluetooth. My PC and my MDA see each other, but they cannot communicate due to the problem that there is no com port assigned to bluetooth and the application (e.g. ActiveSync or TomTom5).
Later I have updated my MDA with WWE_1120_120_11200, which has the same problem.
In option "New Incoming Port" I cannot choose a port. In "New Outgoing Port" it suddenly asks for adding a device (which I have added) and the also here I cannot choose a port.
Is this problem known and is there a fix?
Thx,
Gerald.
Hello,
After the romupdate from 1.11 to 1.12 i have also this problem, the list of comports is empty and no way to add a comport for making a serial bluetooth connection. Even getting back to the 1.11 version changes nothing. Before the update everything worked fine.
greets,
Manu
From my experience, 1.12 does somehow manage to asign comports by itself, using com 5 for most of it's needs. I've been able to pair a gps, a headset, a handsfree carkit and a laptop connection. Try different orders while pairing, and have all devices handy for simultaneous operation, to find how they interfere or operate together.
Still BT is a weakness in all HTC products.

Yes, somehow 1.12 communicates with headset on my the PC when my MDA is defined as hands-free. It recognizes the PC and my Holux 230 GPS.
On creating a bond, the PC communicates with the MDA, but after entering both passkeys (PIN) the connection is gone.
ActiveSync does not connect to the PC. When GPS is also turned on and when I try to connect the PC with ActiveSync, ActiveSync tries to connect with the GPS and not with the PC.
TomTom 5 cannot connect to the GPS when the GPS is not bound to a com port.
I need help.
It looks like com 5 is assigned automatically. TomTom 5 sees my GPS on com 5.
Now, I need to fix ActiveSync. Any ideas?

It better for u to downgrade the ROM version to 1.11. So all problems will be solved. I guess
I think my problem is solved. I updated to WWE_11200_131_11210 and only created bonds with the PC and GPS. I use COM5 for all applications. In the Bluetooth Settings only option "Outbound COM port: COM5" is ticked and "Inbound COM port: COM4" is unticked.
ActiveSync and TomTom 5 are working fine now.
This 1.21 ROM is working fine on the T-Mobile MDA Compact (Dutch).
I noticed a few improvements.
1. Faster connection with PC via bluetooth.
2. Improved speaker sound when talking via the phone.
3. Improved camera quality at daylight.
4. The battery consumption has been improved. Standby time was 3 days,
which is now 5 days.
What else is improved in the 1.12 ROM?

has anyone in Australia got Copilot GPS bluetooth version to sucessfully work with their XDAII.
I can get mine to bond but not to pick up the GPS signal when in the copilot program. Any clues? ideas?
I have the latest ROM 1.60.00WWE and Radio 1.08.00
Cheers,
xda or xdaII
same problem with xda and cable GPS receiver, XDA will not recognise or open the com port for the receiver. No joy yet from Co-pilot tech support.

Guess I'm about to find out..
:? I just ordered Co-pilot for delivery monday. I have latest XDA Asia rom, also BT tools package loaded, and generally find most port openings and applications flakey. Apps crash, no GPS info displayed or satellite histograms. Monitor untilities go for a while and stop or crash.
I have used Navigator for a while from Magellan fails on BT, works on Com1 with wired GPS, but wanted to switch to co-pilot for much greater functionality.
I have Holux GR-230 GPS which canbe wired or BT, and a home buily GPS receiver based on a motorola module which has RS-232 conversion to connect to XDA-II via serial cable to com 1. This worked with NAvigator, Holux is problematic with Navigator.
Will advise here how I go..
Using Copilot with XDA II
I have been using Copilot version 4.0. You would need to install Tobias excellent utility which allows you to create a virtual serial port. You can download it from http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html.
Install this utlity and it will allow you to open a serial com port from within the Copilot program. Copilot is quite cool! I use it to navigate my way around Sydney.
Hope this helps.
Ray
Grout, dont forget to disable IR beams rx settings for wired
Thanks raykan, I'm in the same position as you so should be ok when I get co-pilot.
As per the title, Grout if you have a wired GPS, you need to disable the XDA-II IR Beam tick box as it somehow shares resources with the hardware serial com port 1 and applications that try to open com port one fail to open the port.
I have had most success with wired GPS on COm port 1.
CHeers,
Success so far..
Well, I can't be an expert after one day, but for those wanting to know about XDA-II and Travroute Co-pilot Australian version here are a few things that may help...
1. It's more than 10 tims better functionality and reliability than the previous package I had from Magellan Perth call Navigator.
2. Very configurablem but I installed the SD card and right away the software installed itself from the card and I was running 5 minutes later. Definately a QUICKSTART. The CD allows you to recreate the card, install via activesync, and install on the PC desktop.
3. Works with my Holux GR-230 BT GPS (I use the excellent BT tools) on COM7. Also works on COM1 with my home made GPS via serial port.
4. The manual says the internet live function is extra cost, but it works fine. The desktop version can communicate via internet to the mobile via GPRS and show the location on a map for tracking, also you can send messages to the mobile including redirecting its route/destination and the mobile can accept or not. VERY GOOD.
5. Not sure of home much GPRS traffic is used as my GPRS cost tracking software does not register it in the reports. COuld be a setup problem.
6. I'm VERY impressed so far. Tracking with GPRS is very good.
No doubt I'll find more + or - but if you wonder if it works on XDA-II currend 1.6 WWE edition the answer is yes!
Cheers
I have upgraded from a SP3 to a SP5 and now find that my BT gps a Polstar PBT-111 no longer works
i can bond with it but always get a little yellow ? next to it.. so i assume that the services can not be seen??
does anyone know of a work around??
Did you create a com bt port on your sp5 to communicate with the gps?
(bluetooth settings, menu, com ports)
I have treo 750v, WM6.
I have done the procedure below:
1. Pairing my device with the laptop via Bluetooth.
2. On my Treo, clicked start > internet connection sharing > chosing bluetooth pan > click connect.
3. Device told me to activate Bluetooth on my PC. then I activated my Bluetooth PAN on my laptop. (I'm having BlueSoleil bluetooth manager installed on my laptop).
4. Treo said "Connected". My BlueSoleil manager said connected with an animation showing a link between my device and laptop icons. It even showed some message of its assigned IP address, etc.
But, i can not connect to internet on my laptop. I did ping to google, it said "Request time out".
Very weird, because when I choose USB Cable to do internet connection sharing, the connection is working seamlessly, i can connect to internet, good ping to google or any other sites, but not with BT PAN.
Please advice what to check, what to do, etc.. thanks
no replies yet, i hope someone will read and provide some suggestion for my problem. thanks
How about using the Windows' bluetooth manager?
My bluetooth places -> entire bluetooth neighborhood -> right click on your device name -> connect Network Access Point
I use this method every time and it always works.

I tried it just now as you suggested. it then says network connected. but then i cant connect to the internet from my laptop. so i back to using the USB cable, and it works flawlessly.
i wonder where's the missing key???
Two things:
1. With the Windows bluetooth, once the devices are paired and a connection is established (Internet Sharing on the Treo), goto the little bluetooth icon in the systray and right-click on it. Click on the "Quick Connect" menu and select "Network Access". Once you have clicked on "Network Access" you should see your phone listed (my 750 shows as the name I entered for "Owner Information"). Select your phone and that should do it. These steps are similar to the ones I use for my Macbook as well.
2. Regarding BlueSoleil Manager: when I lasted used it I remember having to set up the serial ports manually so they could be used for communication between the desktop and the phone. I haven't used the BlueSoleil since I had a Treo 650, but I still have the software. I'll load it up and see if I can't help you with your problem.
Regards,
idyllic
So I got to work and loaded up BlueSoleil on a system running MS Server 2003 SP2. The bluetooth dongle I'm using is a TRENDnet TBW-101UB V2 with BlueSoleil version 1.4.9.2 build 041108, stack version 04.03.15.20041105.
I paired my stock AT&T Treo 750 to the machine. Started "Internet Sharing" on the Treo making sure to select bluetooth pan and the AT&T network Once this was done I right-clicked on my phone icon in the BlueSoleil Manager and select "Connect." The I choose the "Bluetooth Personal Area Networking Service" and open a web browser to test... so far its worked every time.
Some notes:
1. The internet sharing on the treo isn't instant, give 20 seconds or so to fully connect.
2. The BlueSoleil manager connects even slower... give it 30 seconds.
3. Try repairing the phone.
4. If using the BlueSoleil software, disable the windows bluetooth as the MAY be a conflict there. Basically use one or the other.
I'm not sure if any of this is going to help, but I hope it puts you on the right track.

idyllic
Hi All,
I'm trying to setup my computer so it can use my Fuze for an internet connection. I'm currently running...
IVT BlueSoleil version 6.4.249.0
EnergyROM 20090709 Standard
I am able to setup a pairing between my phone and my computer by connecting through BlueSoleil.
I notice that my phone connects to COM10 then disconnects, but it says paired on the BlueSoleil manager (don't know whats up with COM10).
I then go to Internet Sharing and connect (on my Fuze), it says device setup has finished, connect bluetooth PAN on PC.
I go back to BlueSoleil (on my computer), right click on my Fuze and click "Connect Bluetooth Personal Area Network" and it gives me "operation not succesful, please try again".
I'm not sure what else to do, I can connect through activesync using usb, but not through bluetooth.
Any ideas?
Update
I got something going on the connection but no internet connection.
Basically when the phone was pairing with the adapter, it would pop up the "COM Port 10" connected box. During the time it was trying to connect I would right click on the phone and click "connect to PAN" or whatever its called and it actually connected!
However, it assigned me a 169.something address and I opened IE in windows but it woudn't load any web pages....bummer.
I'm having a problem with the same ROM, NRG's last couple of ROM's haven't worked on Bluetooth Internet Sharing correctly for me. When I get a chance, I'm going to roll back to a few months ago when it was working for sure just to confirm it is something with the ROM.
BTW, mine connects successfully, but it doesn't give my laptop an IP correctly.
activesync don't use pan for bluetooth at all it does a direct serial connection over bluetooth not a pan network based one
here is a guide for pan
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=InternetOverBluetoothNetwork
this search should give a lot of step by step guides how one
make the com bluetooth port and connect it giving the search
as it depend on which bluetooth stack being used in both ends
http://www.google.dk/search?source=...ivesync&btnG=Google-søgning&meta=lr=&aq=f&oq=
Solved....sorta
OK, so yesterday I had gotten an IP address and it was connected but I thought I wasn't getting any internet service. Turns out I was, but it was incredibly slow, and the connection would go on and off. It did what I wanted to do but its not useable.
While I'm posting, I wanted to do Activesync over Bluetooth but my Fuze has COM ports from 0 to 9 and my Bluesoleil has Com ports 10 and up. How am I suppose to get the two to communicate if I can't get them on the same port? If I try to create a new port in Bluesoleil it starts and 13 and keeps going up...
bever used that bluesoil but heard many bad things about that stack
never had any issues using ms or vidcomm stacks both on the pc side and pda side
and cross
but never really used PAN as I have a wifi router and even if I did not then
they are dirt cheap and if you got a cable or adsl modem you just plug that into the wifi router and connect your desktop with a cable as they are also swtichs
Changed ROM, very fast now
I changed ROM's this morning to the AHEN_ROM and wow, what a difference. Just connected to see what would happen and its just as fast as the USB connection was. I'm not sure what is different about the ROM's but I can surf the web over my phone connection very nicely now.
hello and happy new year to all!!!!
i have tried all wwe roms from wwe 03 up till present wwe 05 rom which im currently using on my htc magician device.i keep trying everyone of these roms in hope to get tomtom 7 up and running.i cant get my external gps devise to be seen by tomtom i get as far as pairing via bluetooth i have gpsgate and also gps proxy gps2blue also tried gps test version 1.04 which scanns ports but still does not find my gps! my gps devise is bt 541 holox which working fine with nokia n95 but due to tomtom mobile maps being up to date. i would be gratefull if some one might help me step by step manythanks
Hi Mr Joe,
I've tried to use Tomtom 7 with wwe 03 and same problem.
The only way to use it that i've found is to download GPS proxy on this site :
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gpsproxy/
You had to add a outgoing port in your GPS BTH (port 6 by exemple)
With gps proxi , you've to create a virtual port 4 (automatically) and via the option, configure entry port 6 and outgoing port n° 4.
with tomtom, u choose port 4 for you GPS and it's works.
hi thank you for your swift reply
i tried as mentioned above and gps proxy says
the nmea input provider failed to start creatfile failed 55
lol still pulling hair out i must have spent about 60 hours searching forums and diffrent apps
after uninstalling gps proxy i reinstalled gps proxy to find error on screen saying i needed opennetcf.sdf.ppc.arm.cab im still searching for this file lol
every time i try install gps proxy it say you need blah blah file befor it will work i keep downloading these diffrent files and installing them then keep uninstalling gpsproxy 2.2. then again and again .......... im so frustrated all i want is tomtom 7 up and running with my gps device. is there anybody who has wwE 05 FOR 64MB DEVICE who has not had to spend approx 65 hours trying diffrent roms diffrent apps to get tomtom 7 working?????????????????anyone know what other files are needed in wwe 05 64 mb device to run gpsproxy????????????? anyone have a list or even a simply way?
OK I FOUND FILES HERE http://sourceforge.net/projects/gps...6/GPSProxy-1.6-ARMV4-NoInstaller.zip/download
I INSTALLED BUT I KEEP GETTING
THE NMEA IMPUT PROVIDER FAILED TO START: CREATFILE FAILED :55
ANYBODY ANY IDEAS?
STARTING TO THINK AM I JUST BEST TO INSTALL WM 2003
How can i close posts?
i tried this with gps proxy....
i have a bluetooth gps mouse from nokia...
model: ld 1w
I pair my magician with the mouse.....after that i set the gps mouse to comport 6.
Now i run gpsproxy and setup my device:
i add Virtual port com4
in nmea i use for incoming port 6
then i set outgoing port to port 4...
the i push start...
then come "fix typ: invalid"
any idea??
i found 'igo8' to work best on magician.
i use a blue-tooth gps, use standard gps port with the rom, done. no issues and quick.
i can still use my bluetooth car hands free at same time too.
(wwe rom 3.06)
I too have problems with my external GPS (sold under T-Mobile NaviGate Bluekit III mouse, but it's Leadtek under the hood) under WWE_O5 , but I think it's more related to the Bluetooth stack
here's what I did
-> add new device
-> Leadtek Bluetooth GPS shows up, next
-> Passcode is prompted, 0000, next
-> Device added, your pocket PC has connected with Bluetooth GPS
everything is fine up till this point, now the GPS shows up under "disconnected"
Now when I single tap it to turn on Serial Port, save and connect it say
CAnnot connect, your device did not connect With Leadtek Bluetooth GPS. The connection failed or the passcode is incorrect
I'm pretty sure it's not the GPS itself since it ran fine with the vanilla firmware
This is pretty much the only thing that keeps me from fully enjoying the rom, though
Hello
I'm in the same situation as you. I have tried a large number of settings to get TonTom/ to connect to my BT GPS ( I've tried Holux 236slim firmware 3.1.0, Holux236slim Firmware 3.1.1, Holux1000B). None of them are identified by TomTom. I have also tested a handfull of other GPS applications without any problems, they are running perfect. I,ve resetted all GPS's to factory basis, I've modified baudrates, S/N and so on without sucess. tested with and w/O WM "external GPS"-program. The "external GPS" does anyhow transfer the correct comport to Tomtom.
No sucess. No sucess.
By trying the other GPS alternativs inside Tomtom gps-configuration, I've ben able to for a second been capable to get the GPS signal.
-Something is wrong inside WM6.5 , S100 or Tomtom.
P-O
Edit
After first removing all setting for BT then removing the main battey, getting low capacity in back up battery, reinstalling BT-GPS ( Holux m1000b) i've got the Tontom to connect to the GPS. I've used the port (in Tomtom GPS konfiguration) given by the BT-setting, com 7 in my case. It failed when chozing the port given by the "external GPS#
The installation is not stable. after shutting down the S100 and restarted. It failed and I had to remove main battery again. Now its working.
I do not dare to test with another GPS yet.

Second edit
I have sucessfully connected all my GPS decvices. Anyhow the connection to Tomtom is more unstable on the magician then on my other phones (Wizard and Herald with WM6.1). Unstable in my case means: loss of connection, have to reinstall GP-device and reboot. Anyhow. I have beiing driving 400 km today without any problems.
