Has anyone released a really concise and well done WM5/Magneto theme for user of PPC 2003 to run?
Thanks!
I'd love to see one as well.
however, for now - you can use the attached files. 1 is the phone skin (dialpad) of wm5 and 2 are the sounds
apart from that, there's also the boot screen which is the one the emulator uses.
the sounds and emu thing are from xda dev and the wm5 thing, I found on howard forums I believe - just to give some credit
Thank you for posting those!
my pleasure. they are not my work, but I'm always glad if I can make someone happy, after all - this board gave me so much - I feel I should give something back
[EDIT]
by the way, if you look around here you will be able to find a WM5 theme that was built for WM5, now - if you are a graphics person, you might just be able to modify it so that we can use it on our devices
I just wanted to post back and say both the audio files and the dialerskin files plus the registry mod work great!
I'm totally lost on the splash images files you loaded though. I'm guessing I have to cook those into my ext-rom right?
Does anyone else have maybe a more complete WM5 image collection?
This is off topic, but on a real magento device, how do you "press" the soft menu buttons - which hardware keys do you use?
And if you're running any non Magento software, what happens to the soft menu? Does it disappear? eg gsfinder etc.
V
im guessing 2 of the lower 4 that are common on the device.
I'm guessing the new devices will come with 2 buttons for the softkeys and 2 buttons for other functions so design will stay the same, just the icon will be changed
WM5 theme here - enjoy!
Official Crossbow theme(s) & sounds wanted
Hello,
I'm very interested in the new crossbow .tsk & .wav files, so for a few days I try to de-cook the AKU 3.5 ROMs (esp. provided by Helmi) to extract the file contents, but since now without much success. What I've extracted were some dll's & exe's, but the most interesting part for me wasn't there: The wav's from the event sounds (like Default.wav, Infbeg.wav, ...). I've found crossbow themes here, but the one that looks like the original has a width (landscape) of 1 pixel too less (319px). In another thread I've found the brilliant ringtone and a few system sounds zipped together (file 'other_crossbow_sounds.zip'), but it doesn't contain all event sounds, some wav's are missing. Please, please can anyone post here:
1. The official default .tsk (320x240 + 240x320)
2. The full collection (or the missing ones w.r.t. the existing ones) of event sounds
3. The media player skin (I really like the look derived from Vista)
4. Other goodies
Thanks in advance and I wish all of you a good new year 2007!

I have seen none of the originals camaro - but show us where the tsk is thats one pixel short and i will mod it if you like.
EDIT Did you try this one seems to be the right dimensions ftp://[email protected]/BlueAngel/BA_WM5/Shipped_Extracted_Updates/xplode/cabs/Crossbow.tsk
I have edited it so its stwater only (tdywater.gif not required) so its a smaller tsk file
I have analysed original images and before mentioned tsk colors are not correct. I have compared all other available mock crossbow tsk's and images and i believe the one i have produced is close to the original - thoughts?

Oops, found the clock in the Prophet forum. Still interested in the shortcuts though.

Oh, now it's clear: There is a border of 1px in the background-image itself that let me think the today-background was 1px too less. In the portrait mode the top border is OK to distinct between taskbar and today-screen-contents, but in landscape mode the right (and left - hard too see on my ppc) is annoying. In the next days (I don't have experience in compiling a .tsk yet) I'm going to fix this and upload the corrected .tsk.
Thanks for your quick reply!
What about the sounds?

Wm5 uses base hue (centered gradient) and color keys for the top and bottom bars, 2003 uses just plain colors commonly in a gradient side to side pattern.
So totally different registry color keys - a 2003 tsk will work in a wm5 device to a fashion but not the other way round. If your interested read my tutorial here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=275907

It looks like crossbow mb.tsk is nearly right - just needs some tweaking of the color - at least its not grey lol.
I will tweak color if you tell me which way to go.
EDIT find a new one attached
If this not working i may need to do a cab to do the color change - but not the best solution - or i will install magic button myself and give it a go. - its all good fun hey guys
I appreciate the effort but.... it is still not like i would like it tot be..and a cab solution is not really an option. I'll think i will look for an alternative for Magic button ... can't believe this is the only/best solution for a task manager/closer.
Do you know if there is a matching dialer skin WITH smart dial for the P3300.
Here it is the HTC Audio Manager from the HTC Touch in VGA (meaning: It works fullscreen on the HTC Universal)
version: final (no bugs so far)
Here you can download the OEM package
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Universal/HTC_Touch_2_VGA/HTC_Audio_ManVGA_v3_OEM.rar
Thanks and greetings to deepred who is the hero of the day, because he showed me some missing bits in my thoughst about the resizing.
for some reason, the ftp speed is absolutely horrid.
about 4KBps (!!!)
when i finish downloading i'll try fixing the images (no promises though)...
dah, i forgot i had just formatted my computer and i don't have anything installed yet.
have you tried resizing with different resizing methods? (ie. percise billinear, bicubic....)
could you post it on say rapidshare (don't know if posting it here will be right)

Done.
http://rapidshare.com/files/37802131/HTC_Audio_ManVGA_v2_xda_WIP.rar.html
has you resized the images???
i downloaded the file from the rapidshare link....and i see png's which are 640x44 background is something like 480x514....
is this the right size or do i double this up?
no, its the same file ivan posted.
i couldn't resize it properly.
the app works, but the icons have a pink border around them, thats all.
I tried to resize them with irfanview (i know it isn't the smartest method, but i am not a very skilled person regarding image manipulation.
Oh and regarding the resizing, only thge images in the png_qvga folder need to be resized, all otherimages were resized correctly.
I think I did it. Run irfanview, press B (stands for batch), load files from png_qvga. Select new output directory, Work As: batch conversion, output format PNG, use advanced options checked. Then select following format options: save transparent color, compression level 6 (default). You can play with compression level, but 6 worked for me (pictures became smaller ~1KB). Advanced options: unselect everything except DPI, set it to 192.
P.S. Forgot to say, that it will ask you for transparent color. Select magenta on each picture.
Hm, pretty cool app. Much easier to handle with fingers than with stylus. I think it supports AVRPC, just tested with Nokia HS-12W. No song name, but buttons are fully functional.
Thanks i will try it.
Thanks to deepred it works now completely.
Upload location in the first post.
Nice work deepred.
Why does the palm tell me it's impossbile to open the file 'cause of certificate ?

Thank you Ivan!
Can you do the Java too?
Maybe thank you again

How can i install this? I tried to copy the files into Windows folder, but the app won´t start.
I´m using the Darkforce Rom in German.

I made a cab-file out of v3:

It works for me, I hope that it works by you too.

UPDATE 06/23/08
I'm having some issues with a few things. As usual, time is amongst them. In any case, the LZX version is just too slow for my taste... but maybe it's because I've been using a small pagepool with it.
In any case, attached is a teaser. It's the today screen that I've been waiting for.
As far as bugs go:
LZX version: Will not display the proper XIP version. I had a problem with the LZX compression and had to use one of Aserg's LZX ROMs as a skeleton on to which to graft the ROM. This worked but introducted this issue. I'm assuming that it's an issue with the cecompr.dll used and that Aserg had hex edited the XIP number unto the imgfs.bin.
All the "full versions" That today screen is not Landscape compatible so you will not see it properly when in landscape mode and in the today screen. Also, the background interferes with the start menu's functionality. I'm working to fix that now, though. Although, it's time for sleep...
Hey guys. Just messing around with a possible full ROM (as supposed to my usual stripped ROMs.) For now, it's based on the Diamond ROM.
It has the following so far:
Arcsoft 4 (I'm having some problems with 5... my MMS stopped working, even though they work with Just2Clean.)
Custom looking HTC Home 2.1 with proxy patch for those who use it on Tmobile's network - This is changing into something else... You'll see it when the author posts it.
Big start menu icons
Big X-Button Icons
black calculator - (My ROM users know I don't ever include calculators. lol)
PocketXpdf
TMPCP
Office 6.1 + OneNote
PHM RegEdit
Advanced Config
Audio Manager
Battery Status - This will be PART of the today screen...)
Esmertec Jbed + OperaMini 4.1 (4.1 was not buggy, the newer Esmertec I was using with it was. This is a stable version.)
HTCAlbum
Internet Sharing
TotalCommander (newest version I believe)
VoiceNotes (something else I tend to remove... I'm not sure if I'll keep it...)
NETCF v3.5
RandomAccess
Oxios Hibernate/CloseApp
This will come in 4 flavors at first.
1. Standard JustMe
2. LZX JustMe - A little slower, but with much more space due to the LZX compression.*
3. A UPX'ed version - Adds a little more speed and storage, but not as much as LZX.
4. A Just2Clean variant with LZX compression. Basically, the 70MB free one.
I MIGHT add a 5th version, a 'la Ttran's biggy if people tell me what they want in it.
*LZX compression is giving me a strange bug that causes the wrong WinCE version to show under the about tab.
The list looks good ivan... only things i wouldn't like would be Total Commander and PHM Regedit, since i use the excellent Resco File explorer which includes both functionalities in 1 app
Btw... speed & Voice dialing would be nice to be included ??
Thanks again for your hard work!

Speed & Voice dialing - Agreed
TotalCommander can also edit the registry, but I prefer using PHM Regedit. Resco is great, I agree, but it's not free, so I can't cook it in. I might make a version like this, though... might.
Your ROM looks very interesting may I suggest adding HTC RandomAccess to your ROM to make it handier browsing through the contacts.
Estimated time of release?
i would use this , i agree with gambit, too... icontact or something for contact browsing would be nice. other than that, it seems to meet all my necessary apps, nothing more, nothing less.

Oh I forgot to mention that was added, too. lol
EDIT: OK... the letter images that appear in the center for randomaccess are broken, so I'm gonna have to fix that, too... Thanks for reminding me, though, or I would have never caught that.
EDIT2:
Estimated time: Whenever I get to it. I'm a perfectionist, and I tend to have too many projects going on at once... plus I rarely have time to mess around with things... and I'm very disorganized... sooooo.... soon. lol
I have a working version that I may be able to fix by tonight... So sooner than I even thought maybe...
Which reminds me... I have to update my signature. Make it J2C, J2S and kitchen and maybe a bigger donate button.

Out on a limb
I know HTC Home is kind of a standard for Today Screen, and I used it for a while.....but, I'm kind of liking the functions of BS. It doesn't take as much power or space and I can configure it with a little HTML.
I started using it shortly after flashing J2C and really like the space. Plus I have more space on the SD for music, since I'm not using HHC now. Just a thought. I sent a screen shot of my modified Aurora theme. I'm running BS with rlToday for the clock, Weather panel, both integrated in BS, and "BS Home" for the bottom buttons.
I also like Network Folders cooked in (runs smoother).
Does TCPMP include plug-ins?
That's my two cents ........
wm5torage
perhaps a program that most people don't use...but it does benefit me personally, since it lets me use the phone as a removable usb drive at work...where I can't install activesync...so that i can transfer files as need be...and occasionally use portableapps, like portable firefox through the removable drive...since the work network won't allow users to install software on the computer.
wm5torage is a fairly small program, so it shouldn't take up too much room...
PIM Backup
for those that might flash every so often, but don't connect to outlook to sync, PIM Backup is a great way to backup contacts, sms', and calendar info...

Actually, I'd be ALL for it if you can provide me with the needed files. I've been looking for something like this, and although I'm good at making things work, I'm not good at making them look pretty. ^_^
Is the weather panel proxy compatible?
If it is, this will be great!
Network Folders?
As far as the plugins, it will. The version I have on it right now is a place holder until I can find a more decent package, though.

All I have are the cab files. I've been reading a lot of the post in the Prophet forum for BS themes. prscott1 has quite a few different themes up and knows this a lot better than I do.
I'm sorry I misspoke earlier, I did mean networkplugin; HTC or Schaps. They both seem to work fine. Schaps is just 5K smaller as a cab.
This is where I got most of it. I just use weather panel in place of using UL as a plugin. I really can't take credit for someone else's work. I did a little rewriting of the HTML for the bottom buttons though.
Weather Panel does have an option for proxy settings.
Just what you need....another project.

This is the HTCHome BS theme. It's the same theme I'm running on my previous post just different lines showing. The message buttons are included and can be changed just by tap and hold on them.
I've attached the latest BS and the HTCHome theme, the HTCHopmeskin and the XML file are placed in the BS folder and the HTC Home files are placed in the \windows dir. It basically is editing the XML file to point to the progs you want to use. most of it is set for you. The on thing is the weather tab and the prog tab. I've seen a few setups with UL and as you can see I have it as an option in my setup.
Hope this helps. Keep up the excellent work.

I used that theme for a while, and I really like it. Using BS for themes is a bit easier, assuming you know how to edit the .xml theme. I second using BS instead of HTCHome, more customization.
Looks, maybe I will use it when it is released Still no success with the kitchen and your j2c files

That's the list so far since I'm at work and can't mess around with it. As you can see it's a semi stripped ROM. No games, but things that I use on a daily basis have been added. All this and you still get 50MB+ of storage free. This is mostly a "I use it, it goes into the ROM" kind of ROM so far, but let me know what you'd like to go into it and you think should be removed and I'll think about making those changes happen. Remember, it depends on whether I also believe it's a useful app or not.

sounds like an incredible ROM! I am more of a BatteryStatus / Mortscript fan than I am of HTC Home, but I do like the touchflo scrolling. I would still enjoy trying your stuffed ROM. there are soo many great BS themes available now - some imitations of WM7, iphone, etc. I have added Ultimate launch recently (mainly for apps launching) so I have a BS/UL combo that is driving my latest themes. I'll post some screen shots when I have a chance (at work now) to see if anyone is interested.
Edit: I'm uploading a few screenshots of my latest (and colorful) BS theme that has UL, todayagenda, searchtoday and RSSNews integrated within.
first, second and third screenshots are the clock page with various rows showing.
fourth, fifth and sixth screenshots show some of my UL sides and cube in action.
I've been in a colorful mood lately.
The only thing I would require out of a BS theme would be the message indicators which I use quite heavily. I know that pappamopps uses them, so maybe he can add them to this BS theme being as nice as he is.
I'm on for this too if you remove remote desktop cuz I think it's useless! I would keep the voice notes though since it's kinda funny sometimtes to record sth with the phone...I'm exactly searching for something like this with the newest build since I have most of the apps in a folder called cabs on my wing Cuz in my opinion everyone needs different progs but this sounds like a good base to build a customized ROM on!
Hello all,
I just got my Treo a week ago, and sucessfully got M2D running on it Thursday using the package found here. (Without RealVGA),
But I noticed on the way home yesterday I lost HSPDA and the phone would only connect to 3G. I also couldn't switch bands from the Phone settings. So last night I hardreset and started over, and this time I did not install the HTC Task Manager from the package since the Pro ships with its own version. Didn't install Google Maps either in favor of the version in the Pro's ROM.
End result is the Phone settings are back to normal, I can switch bands and it connects to HSPDA. But, I don't have the Task Manager as a part of TouchFLO, I have to get it from Windows itself. Any way around that?
Thanks for any help.

Excellent! our own forum.
First off the M2D installation instructions can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2840311.
This is a very clean install of the HTC Diamond interface and works great with the 320x320 resolution. The contributors there have been VERY responsive and helpful.
Second, if you install M2D you should also take a look at KaiserTweak or AdvancedConfig: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=KaiserTweak. BOth have ways to speed up the TouchFLO interface that make the experience much better.
Third, check often and update M2DC http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427392&page=79. It will make your experience with M2D much better.
Last, I've been getting a Windows error the past few days that says, "A problem has occurred with filesys.exe." I've searched xda and find references to the error but can not find a resolution. Does anyone else experience this and have you any fixes? The issue may arise from M2D or from Opera 9.5 Beta (which I also highly recommend).
I've upgraded to a Treo Pro from an HTC Kaiser. A nice phone, but compared to the Treo Pro a real clunker. However, many people have done banner work around making the HTC Windows Mobile experience much better than Microsoft has. Check out thier good work as well but be careful - our screens are square 320x320 and most everything in the kaiser forum fits on a kaiser screen.
Thanks for creating a seperate forum for the Treo Pro (a.k.a., HTC Panther).
What an awesome post. This is why this forum was needed. Now I have touchflo working perfect on my phone. The only problem is flick scrolling no longer works! I downloaded FtouchSL and it works like a charm. Only problem is it isnt compatible with the HTC Touch Flo. Anyone know a way to add flick scrolling to internet explorer, and messages that works with M2D?

Since posting this, I've also installed RealVGA 96dpi found in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=443385. I thought I had the best of everything then I saw what 320x320 really looks like.
I've also seen a reply to this original post noting that "My Favs" were missing. I've not experienced this in either IE (which I NEVER use any more) or Opera. In opera, you'll find your IE favs by touching the star in the opera menu bar at the bottom of the screen. That's my experience anyway.
I have installed with some issues:
I can't seem to make the weather app work, is there something else I need to install (sorry if this a noobie question) and also the launch application tab does not seem to work, I try to add apps just like in the quick dial tab and nothing happens.. also the google map search is not working.. any ideas? I followed the instructions but it does not seem to be working..
any tips would be appreciated, also if you happen to have an unbraded rom in english, it would be very helpful!
If you are running this setup of M2D with RealVGA at 96dpi, use the files in steps 2,3 and 4 from the link below to get everything scaled properly to the screen. Plus you get a nice blue theme color

Found the blue theme. Works very nicely on my Treo Pro @ 96dpi. Are there other themes available here for 320x320? In particular, I'd like a dark orange, dark red & all black (or black & charcoal).
TIA
Bill
Over time, I have updated the files to customize m2d with RealVGA 96dpi on my Treo Pro. I have included my Step 3 of the install for the Treo Pro. Included is the Flip Clock, resized the location tab map images to fill the screen, and the HTCHomeSettings.xml has been updated to work with the new builds of m2d. I only take credit for finding what I wanted and making it all work.

This is excellent work. Thank you very much. This fixes some issues I mentioned in earlier posts in this thread with the mail screen and was easy to install. Let's keep this Treo Pro thread active!
For step 3, should I just be copying these files into the window directory? I could of course just run a sprite backup to be safe first but I am just curious.

A backup first is always good. Copy the Step 3 folder to your Storage Card. Stop M2D from Settings-Today-Items, by deselecting TouchFLO. Copy the files from the Step 3 folder to the Windows directory, and overwrite the existing files. Enable TouchFLO again, and that should be it.

Despite following advice I cannot intall M2D on Palm Treo Pro : message is " cannot find config file"
in fact the config manager is not launched.
Any tip ?
Thank you
Marco
mi treo freeze in inactive mode, is soo slow to activate, why?
Which is the last version to be installed with Treo Pro?
I found M2D Build 1.0.18203328, is it correct?
Thank you
Hi I got the same problem as you with the m2d. My application launcher, google map search and weather tab is not working. How do you solve it? I got a Treo Pro (Dutch version)
Thanks
And thats the problem, its not working on a dutch version. You need to flash it to WWE Rom. Before the pro, I have owned a HP 614. Had the same problem, but after flashing to WWE, i was able to install M2D
