XDA 2 Backup Battery 0% - General Topics

Hi
For Some reason the backup battery will not charge in my XDA2 main battery charged to 100% and its been on charge all day in the cradle as normal backup battery shows 0%
As it is out of guarantee / contract can anyone suggest an answer other than chucking it in the bin!
Cheers
James

If you look here you will find its a standard replacement, probably a CR2032.

If you do decide to throw it in the bin could you throw it in mine please.

XDA IIs Backup Battery at 0% and will not charge

I've just acquired an O2 branded (from HK) XDA IIs, and when phone powers up I am notified that the backup battery is at 0%.
Leaving the phone charging in its cradle for 2 days and backup battery still shows as 0%.
Have done both soft and hard reset, as well as upgrading to latest radio stack and OS.
Am I now forced to do surgery on this unit and replace the internal backup battery?
Has anyone performed this process on this unit before?
Hints, part numbers etc
I appreciate all help and thank you in advance.
Daniel
In a seperate thread, Sandy suggested charging main battery first in aux charger location, and then trying to charge backup battery since she is under the impression that backup battery charges from main battery. (see Blue Angel forum)
Thanks for the suggestion Sandy.
However, the problem persists.
I've even tried putting the phone on the cradle without the main battery to see if this would force a backup battery charge. The charging light stays red, and after a couple of hours, backup battery status still says 0% (so it's not a sensor issue), and if you remove main battery, it continues to be the same as a hardware reset.
On a positive note, xbackup seems to restore things quite well.
Can anyone else think of any good ideals?
The error message on boot-up emphasizes the problem
"To prevent possible data loss, replace or recharge your battery according to the owner's manual"
I find no such instructions in my owner's manual.
What's the longest you've left it on charge.. I had a flat backup battery after it had been off for repair and it took over 3 hours on charge before it showed any charge being taken.
Also I did charge the main battery first as it does affect the ability of the backup battery to acccept a charge
Everynight for the past week it's been on charge for atleast 8hrs at a time. However this is not in a cradle but rather using 'travel' charger. Could there be a difference?
I remember hearing the same problem a while ago, and im sure the only solution was to get a replacement as it was a faulty device.

I Have Dopod U1000 Please Help I Have Problem For Charging Battery!!!!!!!!

Will S200 Work without battery installed

I was in the process of installing step 1 and got an error message at 95%.
Now it will not power up or even charge the battery (tested completly dead).
I have ordered a new battery. Just wondering if there is a way to access using just AC or USB?
Thanks
hey man, you dont need to order a new battery.. just go to one of those malls where they charge your battery and you pay them the money.. or ask you friends if they have a battery charger.. ordering extra battery might be a bit uneconomical if you knoe what i mean.. is there any facilities as such where you live.. over here in hk, i can go to a seven-eleven, give any battery, phone or camera, n they charge within 30 mins n i pay them abt US$1. its realli realli cheap in my opinion.
It's not a common phone in the US. No one has a charger for this battery or a phone that uses it. I hope the new one will have the 50% charge on it to let me into bootloader.

universal battery not charging

hi all I have a problem
my universal battery is not charging ,after connectint to charger orange light glows and it battery status shows that the battery is charging but it cant be charged more than 5%,light remains orange but not being charged,I forgot to mention that I m using a charger with current rating of 550 mA.it was charging before, but not charging now having same problem with usb port charging ,what should be the problem
is my battery dead or some thing with my universal,
Does orignal charger solve the problem?
plzzzzzzzzz help?????????
what should i do?
Well charging with original charger is always the most recommended and trustable mode to preserve your batterry.
Alsoperhaps battery come to it´s end, try with another battery (original one!)
Have a look on Universal wiki there is a good tutorial of batteries that maybe can help you.

i have changed my batterie a couple of months ago
its mean my uni is fine problem is with my battery??
Most likely and more if it is not an original battery
Do the battery tests listed on the wiki
hi
universal use 1A charger
if use USB only, just have 500MA (not enough the charge the Battery)
I had a customer with identical problem and the cause was the battery. I ordered another battery and all went well - charging and working as it should.
its certainly a battery problem. there's nothing to do if even its wall or usb you are using, it simply varies the charging time. remember however the golden rule in battery charging, regularly using charger with higher rating than the recommended one could damage your battery.
my cent..
it is surely battery problem.
thanks all of you,
going to buy a new battery
once again thanks

Battery indicator issues after replacing the battery

Hello,
I have bought an replacement OnePlus battery (the red ones) it looked identical to original one, the only difference was that it had an extra sticker hologram like. The battery was replaced at a service center (after I have ordered it my self, it also comes with 1year warranty).
The issue started the first time I changed the battery. It came charged at first to 55%, I used it until like 35% and then I left it to charge. Charging stopped at 90%. Accubattey measures a capacity of 3050 mah. However the voltage was at 4.280V and at this point it will not accept any more current (charging current drops to 0mA).
When normally charging it with the original charger it draws the usual 2 ~ 2.1 amps. Then I drained it to 0. Now it charges to 95~97%.
My questions are. Is the voltage correct for stopping the charging ? Should it not go 4.35V?
Do you think that repeted discharge to 0 cycles my fix this issue?
Should I consider using my warranty, for the battery and request a new one? Also on this topic. On the supplyer site it states that 5 cycles should be performed to calibrate the battery.
Did anyone else experienced this?
Thanks
calibrate your battery and see if you could find any change,if not, which rom/kernel are you on?
Well I am running 25 Dec CM 13 by sultan XDA, I did not flash a new ROM after the battery replacement.
What steps would you suggest for calibrating my battery ?
I was thinking of dischargeing it to 0 then trying to start it until I get no response from the device. I mean not even show the boot screen. Then leaving it like this for two hours. And then retry to start it, just to make sure the battery is all the way discharged. Then plug it in and leave it to charge over night and see what happens. And if it's still not 100 repeat until it happens.
Thanks for the reply.
