German MDA compact to English language - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

I've read the ROM upgrade guide at http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=14973 but the first link is broken... so please where can I get a new ROM for my MDA compact? Also I want this to work smoothly as I am updating this on my work time so if possible, please give me very specific instructions.
By the way, where is the FTP located?
All I know is that I have a german MDA compact and I can't speak german so I need to flash the system. I know nothing about what files are needed so please help as I really can't use my work time to browse newsgroups other than on my coffee break and my home network is currently cut off - they are redoing the cables, should take a week or so
So please help. I don't know where to start...

You are posting this in the wrong forum this is for the MDA compact not for the MDA III. MDA III is blue angel.

First, QTEK was working OK, now device is stuck in splash screen.

I wish I could help you out, but
I wish I could help you out but, I have the same problem as you somewhat. check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=18238. Futhermore, now that I read that so many people are have major problems, I will stay with my original MDA compact ver.

Thanks for the attempt to help but this link seems to be dealing with the Dopod 818.
I don't read Chinese so what I need is for an early O2 customer to log onto the O2 website and download the original, English ROM package (the whole thing would be best) and upload it somewhere...

upgrading to english language xda mini

hi! i have an xda mini with windows mobile 2003 in german. but i need it in english! can somebody explain me how i can flah or install another language?!? unfortunately i have no idea and never something to do with xda's so i need a good description! maybe a hint to a howTo. i have an usc cable, is it enough to flash the xda?
thank you very very much! i will be veryyyyy thankful for an answer!
pls, pls, pls follow the threads about 'TMO official 1.13 ROM' or 'upgrade to radio 1.13'.
The 1.13 TMO is WWE, Means English, and requires flashing . You'll need the maugradeut_noid.exe too, as you're changing the language.
Hope this helps, cause I don't feel happy posting the whole procedure again. It's well described in those threads & there's the sticky topic on rom upgrading too.
Cheers, M
))) ok i will try thanks
it is an O2 xda mini! does it matter??
As long as it is a magician you can use the TMO-rom. Keep your O2 original ext-rom at a save place though, you might need it for some specific settings. When you skip the TMO branding you got a plain 1.13 installation. I recommend the camera patch & BT patch though as a minimum, they're not branded.
Have fun
well i just tried it with this one:
MA_TMUK_11300_128_11200_SHIP.exe
http://t-mobile.iris-global.com/download_manager_mda_com.html
and i get an error, which rom can i use???
Did you unzip it first? You'll need to unzip this one & put the maupgradeut_noid.exe in the same folder. Then execute the maupgradeut_noid.exe instead of the maupgrade.exe. Might be you need to run it twice, don't know why. Editting the RUU.conf helps too I read here.
Edit ruu.conf with notepad add on top [CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1
Cheers, M
ps this can all be found in the 'official tmo 1.13...' thread
is there also an O2 rom???
Don't know there are a lot of unspecified shipped roms on the ftp, maybe you can find out with a hex-editor which brand they are.
When you reload the current ext-rom there shouldn't be a problem for O2 settings though .

I have an XDA Mini and I used the english ROM. You have to use the "noid" version of the ROM updater. Search the forum for instructions. The error you got was country code, correct?

Clarification of ROM Upgrading

Hi,
I am expecting my German XDA in the mail in the next few days.
I have been reading this forum for the past 2 weeks, and have tried to wade through all the great advice to educate myself on ROM upgrading issues. I would like to clarify that I understand this properly.
As I understand, in order to render my new XDA "O2-free" and customizable, not to mention english, I need to install a new ROM - probably the latest Imate ROM or maybe the PDAMobiz ROM.
Before I do this, should I Unlock the CID? From my reding, this will allow me to the install any ROM.
Is this an accurate understanding of everything involved?
Are there other better options to achieve my goal of a non-branded non-operator specific Jamin/Neo?
Is there a way to save my original German O2 ROM if it became necessary to return the unit for service?
I hope people do not object to thsi post. I know that it can be irritating when newbies post on topics which have already been discussed thoroughly. I have spent at least 2 weeks trying to educate myself on the procedures, and really would just like if some knowledgeable contributor could reassure me that I have not missed something obviuos.
Thanks,
Ronan

I'm still updating the page, but its working fine for my dutch s200 (now english dopod rom)
Hi,
I tried to follow the steps as outlined, but when I get to teh first soft reset, the device locks, and I can do nothing with it!
Please tell me how to fix it. Can I use bootloader?
How?
Thanks,
Ronan
Crisis averted!
Got into bootloader and installed the dopod rom.

Dear Ro,
have you upgrated your PDA?
Can you write your procedure?
Best regards
Daniele
please, read this topic and tell me what you think about it...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=54878
I entered bootloader then used the Dopod ROM with the modified romupdateutility.
I have not tried anything else.
Does anyone know of a solution for us SPL 2.15.0001 users? We seem to be very restricted in options.
Ro
Please, can you write the links where it is possible to download this rom and all the necessary files?

Thanks dears,
I have updated it with Dopod rom......but now....how can I update to I-mate JAMin (italian) rom?
Does someone have an Idea to how do it?
Thanks, thanks, thanks
Daniele
Yes, you have to go to ftp.clubimate.com there you can find the JAMin ROM's and also you can choose the language you want.
As you know, first, you must CID unlock, then you can download your favorite ROM. Tell us your opinon after install it.

1st => Welcome to the Forum!
2nd => Most important (and a little hint) read the Forum Rules first!
I would take a look at the Wiki-Pages
Choose the right device (i would guess it's an ELF) and read it carefully! USPL for example is an important point!
Read anything you can find about flashing (placing another ROM onto your Device) ... but be warned ... it can be harmful
Find a fitting ROM (WWE or Stock) and flash your Touch.
Have fun!
Happy flashing.
