My Inbox isnt working - i tap it and nothing happens cant get to my emails and SMS
The only way I can get it to work is to Hard reset it
But when i restore from my backup the inbox still doesnt work
Ive had this problem before and fixed it but dont know how.
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease help
P.S. Ive been thinking about buying a Ijam (MDA compact) are they any good??

Hi Everyone,
I just upgrade my XDAIIs rom to 1.40.00WWE. I backup my files using sprite backup. Upgrade went ok, no problem. Then i only restore the messeges. all restored properly. everything work great except that i can not receive sms anymore. However I can send sms ok. Anyone encountered similar problem? any step that I missed?
So grateful if anyone can help me. Thanks you.

I had this problem, it is recieving them, but the database is corrupt so it can't do anything with them to notify you, so yo unever see them.
A hard reset will fix it.
I concur hate to say it but a Hard reset will sort it (I had same problem)
how to fix sms bug
u dont need to hard reset. Find an application called cleanmail, its mentioned in the forum. install and run it and it will delete the corrupted databases. the problem is caused by a bug in the version of sprite u are using. once u have deleted the databases u will need to set up ur e-mail accounts again, but it works 100%.
I had the same problem and have never used Sprite backup ever!
Ok here is the problem, I hope someone can help me this problem is frustrating.
I was looking for a program that could help me manage ringtones for contacts / SMS. I started with PhoneAlarm and it worked good. Then I saw MortRing and I thought I would give it a try. I uninstalled Phone Alarm and then installed MortRing version 0.993. I played around with it and didnt like it over PhoneAlarm so I wanted to go back. I uninstalled MortRing and then installed Phone Alarm. I setup my settings again how they were but now SMS ringtone is not working . I have the right town assigned to SMS under each profile however whenever I get an SMS I get the old MortRing notification. I also set the SMS under the Settings->Notifications to the one I want and that doesnt work. I have done a soft reset several times but no luck. Any idea? I dont want to do a full reset as my backup is out of date

I have a problem, that from time to time my WM phone (Hermes) freezes and then I have to do a reset with the stylus and all the unread SMS that I´ve received in the meantime are gone..
Is there a way to prevent this, please? (e.g. a program that would automatically mark all incoming SMS as read so that the WindowsMobile system will actually store them even in case of a reset?)

I tried and mine works normally. I sent myself an SMS. I didn't open or read it when it arrived. I just left it unread in the inbox. I performed a soft reset using the stylus. When the device rebooted the SMS was still in the inbox showing as unread.
yeah but when the phone freezes it will delete.

so what can be done? i am thinking of a soft that would either keep the unread sms in its own memory on the memory card or a soft that would save it right away as read.. it is such a bummer, it´s a feature of Windows Mobile but I am wondering why this doesn´t bother anyone else...
Yes believe me this is a major pain in the a#@*! Has happened to me quite a few times and even made me miss an important appointment once...
I take it that this is simply a "feature" of the system but it could be down to a rogue program somewhere. Not for me to say anything of course but some of the third party programs available do seem to make my machine freeze more than most. Remove them and it works ok for long periods.

I have and HTC Kaiser and everything was fine with it... then, all of a sudden, a strange thing happened:
I opened my CONTACTS and all of them appeared as always from outlook and SIM card... I closed the CONTACTS and opened the MESSAGES .. .so far nothing strange... but when I open the contacts again... boom! no contacts was showed! but I didn't lost them, because when I use the smart dial funcion, all my contacs are reckognized.
I reseted my kaiser and the same mistake again with one extra... when I open the sequence: contacts, messages, calendar, contacs... I couldn't open my messages anymore... and all my device begin to get sloooooooooooooooow.... veeeeeeery, verrrrrry sloooooooooow... to open anything, even to receive calls...
and when I reset it... the same things happens all the time... it begins fast e furious until I open my contacts... and then the problems begin again...
and other thing... when I open iContacts with de RevRom... the contacts show up... and when I edit a contact the edition page shows up.. seems the only problem is with the listing contacts (all of them: outlook and SIM card)
and now the calendar syncs and contacs, too... but the problem still.. please, SOMEONE HELP ME!!!

I tried to flash another ROM (RevROM 8) and sync... it doesn't sync the contacts

Maybe you have some kind of buggy contact list for some reason... which i couldn't even begin guessing...
how many contacts do you have? and how many of them have pictures?
about 400... hummm.. I guess 100 or 150 have pictures
that's not enough to create an overflow..
might be a virus, or again, a buggy contact list. I suggest you backup all your contacts, delete them from the device, and try adding a few new ones.. then see if the problem persists. if it doesn't, it means you have a problem with the contact list..
if it does, we can think of something else.

I have a similar problem with my touch diamond. I receive SMS messages as normal and they seem to save as normal, but when I delete messages then reboot my device the messages are back. Now my device is absolutely full and isn't working properly
If anyone has a bkup in sprite bkup try restoring just the pim.vol see if that helps. Its a long shot. Also does your messages appear again if u delete then turn off and remove sim and then restart phone.
Also might be worth a try. Create bkup with sprite bkup then restore phone and then restore bkup but in custom mode deselecting sms and hopefully no sms and working phone.

I don't have a backup of my phone so I cant try that. I tried the delete with the sim card and that didn't work the first time. The second time it didn't work and now it wont boot up
May be time to reset my phone
similar problem with HTC touch diamond. The messages are probably not persisted by the phone. when the phone restarts it loads the messsages from a stale file. I have more than 5000 msgs in my phone, may be that is a problem.
