I just have this reply from the developers. Considering that Skype is rather bad on XDA IIs, I think people may be interested. If anyone could help them by providing what they are asking for (SDK?), we may be lucky with the next upgrade of this software:

Subject: Support for XDA?
Dear Portrait team,
Congratulations, it is a great programme.
I would like to know if XDA camera will ever be supported; there is an increasing community of XDA users that seems to be constantly neglected here.
Come on guys, we know you can do it. After all, your motto was and is to provide "presence notification, chat/voice/video functions anytime, anywhere, on any device".
I really hope it comes soon.
Thanks for your efforts,
Gonzalo

REPLY:
Gonzalo,
Sorry, XDA camera current is not supported by Portrait. We may try to support in next version if we can get its SDK.

Hi all,
i don't know if this has been made known before but anyway here is a link http://www.freecabs.de/ to a site that serves to provide ppc users a place to find free/commercial softwares/games in cab file-ready format and zip. just to mention a few like Pocket Rar, PPC Skype, Mem Release, VLC Media Player (that can stream video), Virtual Earth Mobile, UI tweaker etc. As for version compatibility, as most is not mentioned, i guess it's up to the user to find out.
I've tried to look for the proprietor's name of this website but could not find any so i could not pay any tribute directly as yet but anyway if he/she reads this, "A BIG THANK YOU TO YOU" so if any of you guys do find his/her name please mention it here. he/she did tho' include his/her e-mail "[email protected]". I think he/she deserves our thank you.
Cheers. (P.S as the url suggest softwares are free but i could not confirm this as i don't use much of them only those that i need)
The site is by Holger Schmidt
Danke Holger
Yes, i'm sorry. it's listed just below the title. Thanks.
And thank you again, Holger Schmidt.

Hi there,
I wonder why there is no fring for android. There is a big thread in their forums:
http://www.fring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8336
(unfortunatly the Blackberry thread is bigger :ugly)
Maybe the dont get enough feedbacK from the android community?! So what do you xda-developer members with an android device think about an online petition?
Alternativly you can hammer their "Your handset is not supported ... yet." form:
http://reg.fring.com/app/newhandset... your Email Addres&country=Enter Your Country
You probably have to choose the G1 because its the only Android phone in the list...
Hi There,
Omri from fring here.
We are working on the Android version. It takes time but I can promise you that this version is worth the wait...
Re: Blackberry
Unfortunately it is not possible to develop an application that will play and record audio at the same time on the Blackberry platform, that's the main reason for the lack of a Blackberry version.
I will add a few more Android devices to the waiting list so you can leave your email and we will let you know once it's out.
You can also follow us on twitter for the latest news (@fring) or subscribe to our blog www.fring.com/blog
I'll be around so if you have any questions I'll be happy to assist.
Have a great day.

Hi Omri,
thank you for your answer. Happy to hear that you guys are onto it. I hope that it is going to be a full version, not crap like skype lite (no voice chat) or any other im app for android (which unfortunatly are all not satisfying, regarding function and quality).
Thanks again...

Thanks for the reply... been waiting for this for a while. Would be interesting to find out the time scale of this!
<disclaimer>
I am sorry if anyone feels this is the wrong place for a post like this, but i didn't find any better place for it and I would like to reach as many compact framework developers as possible.
</disclaimer>
What I want is to inform Norwegian Microsoft compact framework and Windows Phone developers about an initiative, in collaboration with Microsoft in Norway, to establish a Norwegian Windows Phone Developer Community. This is to be a place where windows mobile and compact framework developers can meet, showcase and discuss mobile solutions and development.
We want this to be a community for developers by developers and so, we hope as many as possible would like to help out. If you are located in Norway and want to participate, either just to learn and meet other developers or to help build and create the community, we'd like to know Our first meetup is set to be on Thursday, December 3rd 2009 and we have set up a meetup.com site for the community (http://www.meetup.com/Windows-Phone-Developer-Community)
It's not intended to be a replacement for this or other forums, but rather an extension.
Hi.
I am using an HTC HD2.
So here's the challenge - or maybe not!
These guys (communicationautism.com) released PixTalk (see there download section), a WM application for children with Autism to allow them to communicate. The dark side (aka IPhone) have released a commercial application called Grace which achieves the same thing.
PixTalk is Open Source and the licence allows modification and redistribution.
The issue is this: I have been advised that it will not run on 800x420 screens (which is the HTC HD2). I get the following script:
ArgumentOutOfRangeException at System .IO.FileStream_Position(Int64value)
at Pixtalk>Form1.ctor()
at Pixtalk.Program.Main()
I am running it on an HTC HD2 1024Mhz with 800x480 display.
OS version is 5.2.23554.
I am running Microsoft .NET CF 3.5 (which is built into a customized ROM).
One thing I guarantee - I will be donating to the first person who can assist me as I have a 4 year old with Autism and I don't want to buy an IPhone!
Thanks in advance
Andrew
i'm sorry i'm not a developer, otherwise i would help you surely to make the app work, without any donation of course, the biggest one is the opportunity to can help your son.
bye!

Doesn't sound like a screen related error, sounds more like you have a file that its trying to open and it's either missing or corrupt. You say it's open source, but I don't see the source available on their site ... do you have it or can point me to it? If so I'd be happy to take a peek.
-Chuck
I only have the CAB file and associated images at this stage. I have requested the program co-ordinator for the code and will get back to you as soon as I have it.
EDIT: Sorry it is not a CAB but an EXE.
The licence reads:
PixTalk is a software application for Windows Mobile 6 that allows people to communicate using icons. PixTalk has been funded by a grant from Microsoft Research.

Although I've never developed for compact .net, if you will be able to obtain the source, I'll do my best to help.
My uncle has Autism, Just wanted to thank you for putting this up!
Much respect!
I would donate to help If i wasnt so broke with 11 month old son..
Best of luck in your development!
I'll happily look at this once the source is available.
No donations required - I'm just a sucker for a good cause.

it seems that the app tries to read data from a position in the file which is beyond the filesize.
e.g.
the file being read has a size of 2.000 bytes, and the app tries to read from position 2.500.

Or trying to read from a file that doesn't exist, and is being created by the stream object (whatever type of stream it actually is). It's pretty much guesswork until we see the source code.
Thanks
Thanks everyone for your great support.
The source code is on its way!
I just have to agree that the fix or updated version will be available to communicationautism.com for public download off their site.
The developer has said full credit will be attributable to those of you involved in the fix. I am hoping that will be some good cudos for you guys and gals!

Where can I find this updated version
Hi,
I just downloaded the app from the site, and seem to have similar issues. This is for my autistic son. I found this thread. Can I get the updated app - also for the HD2. I do have dev experience too, so if the source code is available, and the problem is not fixed, I can look at help at fixing it too.
Supernova is an additional add-on not available apparently for android devices yet. I have gone ahead and emailed Fishlabs
- Apparently you have to go through their own email system now as I got an auto generated reply informing me to go here:
http://support.fishlabs.net/
to send them an email.
I asked if they would please continue to support our device as I have thoroughly enjoyed this game. I would like to encourage all xperia PLAY users to just take 30 seconds to email fishlabs at the above address and ask them to please continue supporting our phone with the future release of Galaxy on Fire 2 - Supernova.
Your welcome to just copy and paste what I sent to them but if I were a fishlabs rep reading the same email over and over from different addresses I would think it was either spam or not a sincere email. As I said your welcome to use my email but I feel it would make a more powerful message if everyone just asked that they continue supporting this device.
My email:
"Hello,
I would like to know if there are any plans to support the Xperia PLAY for the GOF add-on SuperNova? I am a big fan of the series and have greatly enjoyed it on my Xperia PLAY and would love to see it released to this phone and to all android devices. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,

Edit - For those curious here is the official trailer for Supernova

Edit 2 - Posted a short blurp on the Youtube video again asking Fishlabs to support our device, there was already a reply below mine with the same request.

sorry

Ah...bummer. can't say I'm surprised but it would be cool if we got it. I have not received a reply yet. Not doubting you but still hopeful we may be able to have them reconsider. Even if its a paid game I would jump on it.

Got another reply from FishLabs regarding the Xperia PLAY:
"Hello Jesse,
my name's Tobi and I'm a Senior Social Media Manager at Fishlabs. I'm filling in for Sven today and I'm happy to help you out and answer your question.
Right now, it is not planned to support the special controls of the Xperia PLAY right from the start. However, depending on how successful the app performs on Google PLAY, there's of course still a chance that we'll add such an optimization later on. So fingers crossed...
If you've got any more questions, feel free to ask 'em right away.
All the best,

I wrote back sayin this:
"Hello Sven, I replied to your email about requesting that Xperia PLAY gaming controls be supported. I have made a thread over on XDA specifically for this game in hopes that it will bring awareness and will also hopefully encourage FishLabs to add support for our phone.

Myself and many others would be thrilled if it supports the Xperia PLAY. Despite the age of this phone I actually just bought another one to use as my daily phone as I really enjoy gaming on this phone and Galaxy on Fire 2 is one of my favorites. I would like to kindly request that it be considered, myself and many others will be crossing our fingers an hoping that our wish comes true. Thank you Sven for your time and your replies. I will remain optimistic of the Xperia PLAY seeing support.

So it looks like Sven is now going to push for Xperia PLAY support.
Well, as much as I like their game, they have been an asshat to me eversince. As expected, they haven't replied to my e-mail. It's been a week.
Heck....while we are at it asking for xp support....I'll ask for ANDROID support too lol......based on their site all their games are apple or blackberry......apparantly they are fruit lovers

I received another reply and although it is virtually the same as my last posted reply, it does give a tid bit more information:
"We're already working on an "All Android" version of GOF2 HD incl. both add-ons, Valkyrie and Supernova. It'll support about 200+ different devices and will hopefully be out later on this year. As soon as there are any more concrete news, we'll surely keep you posted."
Crossing fingers.
Supernova is out as an in app add-on. Updated the game on my old Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and it showed Supernova, on our device under add-ons supernova is not listed.
Wondering if we should start another email campaign to request the PLAY gets the supernova add-on as well..

This is HD version my friend, it requires Android 3.0 or higher, even if XP can make it, that would be too laggy. maybe we should wait for SD version's coming
