Call Tracking Software - General Topics

Does anyone out there know of any phone software for "PPC 2003 Phone Edition " that tracks call duration over time? Another words like on Nokia phones, i would like to see how many outgoing and ingoing calls I made for the month and then can reset those totals to zero at the end of a billing cycle. Extra cool software would actually have user adjustable Primetime" and "Evenings and Weekends" time slot settings.
I know in Pocket PC 2003 Phone software, I can look at the "Call Duration" tab in the device manager. In the least, would anyone know where in the registry to hack that back to zero on a monthly basis?
Thanks,
Dano

Have a look to PhoneDashboard (shareware)
You can try DKToday which is in development and is free

Thanks for the super prompt response, i just downloaded the DKTODAY cab and am playing with it now.

[Q] automatic redial if busy

Hi Folks,
anyone knows a tweak or an application that automatcally redials a busy number and beeps if call is successfull. i found a french app that i dont really like cause i dont understand the menu
Thanx
In holland that's a service from our phone provider. Line busy, press 5, hang up. Line available again your phone rings, pick up, receivers phone rings and he/she picks up. (If he/she likes you )
nice.. have to check if your neighbors in the east have that nice service too
thanx for the hint

Try this:
http://www.pocketmax.net/redial.html
Regards,
Nika.
I can't enter settings on my diamond
Probably because you have Manila 2D. Install a program called Second Today to have your original screen to access the settings, or temporarily disable M2D by turning Touchflo off in your Home settings...
When I disable TF3D I have the icon and the menu. When I try to open the settings I am going right back to the today screen without the possibility to change the settings.
Hmmm...sorry... I don't know
I installed that PocketMax redial on my HD2.
As others have noted, you cannot access the settings with Manila running. Presumably, however, most users would not need to change settings often, set it how you want and leave it.
One also cannot exit from the app normally with Manila running. One has to use a process-killing task manager to do that, or just leave it running until next reboot.
However, another problem. When I tested it by calling my home phone with my cell (after leaving the home phone off the hook), it worked, it kept redialing.
Today I tried it where I really needed it, though, in calling a business whose line is usually busy, and it did not work at all. It somehow did not detect the busy signal. Do business phone systems have a different way of making a busy signal, that Redial does not detect? If so, that's a problem, as one is more likely to need a redial function in calling a business, than in calling a residence.
I have tried another one too called Simple Redial. Works in a different way. And has no problems with Manila. You only invoke it after calling the number once the regular way. Then open Simple Redial, which can redial that number the amount of times you select, length of times between redials, etc. One thing I don't like about it--the shortest time one can specify between redials is 10 seconds. To me, that is way too long. (I would rather set that interval to 1 or 2 seconds. The PocketMax Redial goes down to 2 seconds, but has the problems I mentioned.)
It is amazing that Windows Mobile does not have a redial function built in. My previous phone was a "dumbphone", a Sony-Ericsson TM506. That would automatically redial a busy number. Why can't a Windows Mobile smartphone do that? It should be built into the system!
Anyhow, anyone know of any other redial apps for WinMo? As it is a basic function lacking from the OS, one would think that more such apps would have been created to fill that gap!

Not knowing Russian, it is rather hard to serach for it on a Russian site.
Could you please post the app here? Thank you.
----Edit
Now I did go to that wce.by site, translated into English by Google.
I did a search for "mofun" there, no results at all.
If this is really a good redial software, please post it here.

Can't receive incoming calls

Hi there, I am using VJgrace latest 3.4 ROM, I realized that nowadays, sometimes I would not be able to receive incoming calls, my friends and relatives have complained that I do not pick up their calls, they even showed me the proof of their call logs. They said there were dialing tone. So one day, I tried for myself and true enough, at times, the phone will just light up from idle, but it will not say that there is an incoming calls. When this happen, I cannot make outgoing calls as well, when I try to dial someone, it just hang there.
Any solution? Is this a radio or ROM problem?
I have run the GSM update
I faced the same problem too. I thought my friends were joking. just called myself to confirm. true enough the phone lights up for a second or two then it goes back to sleep.
this is serious. am thinking of going back to WM 5
Really? Wow. That's a new one. I guess I haven't seen this. illi - would you really go *all* the way back to WM5? Are you saying this is a problem in every WM6 ROM you have installed? I'm surprised... I've never seen it on my phone. But I don't get too many calls during the day. And I reboot my phone every 2 or 3 days just for good measure.

i cant afford to loose calls. some friends had complained since a few months back. so i suspect its all WM6 ROMs not just vj's.
i think it happened when the device is syncing because i receive lots of emails. so at that time the gprs/edge is being use. THIS IS MY WILD GUESS ONLY!! I noticed it (the device awakes then back to sleep) once while on active sync and at that moment emails were being downloaded from my email server.
How can yew trouble shoot this problem?

not too sure but will check next time i active sync. anyway i rarely sync with my pc so i doubt thats the problem - i noticed once while hooked to pc the phone awakens and then sleep. i use mail2web.com's microsoft exchange to sync my emails. i active sync only to do spring cleaning on my device and SD.
if karhoe subscribe to the same telco as me than i suspect its the operator. (hello karhoe you there;-))
I have this problem even when the phone is not connected to Active Sync, when i'm outside. The phone just light up, and then poof, gone. Well, I am using DiGi telco. But I don't have this problem when using Andot's PEE, don't have it when using 3.0 ROM, only recently when I started using 3.1, had this problem, after so long, then use 3.4, still have it
I had this issue with WM5.. now with WM6 I didn't found (yet) this issue. (using EA ROM)
This is a quote of one of my posts (Oct 7 2006, 18:43, modaco):
i think this is a software issue..
i have a spv c600 and have problem with the telephony part (and many other spv c600 users)
1. some times when somebody is calling me the phone does not announce in any way that i have a call.
2. other times when somebody is calling me the phone send automatically a busy tone to the caller and again does not announce me that somebody has called me.
3. and other times when somebody is calling me, the caller is announced by the robot that 'the user is in an uncovered area or has the phone turned off' or it divert it to voice mail (if the WM user has voice mail active. i have it off)
however, point 1 and 2 can be 'detected' by eye on call (phonesharpen). only detected (no answer, no nothing).
- in the first case, a window with caller information is displayed as long as the caller is calling you.
- in the second case, a window appears and disparears extremly fast
to bad that the phonesharpen does not log the detected calls . i have mailed them about this, but on answer..
i gues the problem is the native telephone application
so .. in conclusion WM smartphones are not recommended for people who want to use them as a phone.. who knows what important calls you miss.. i hope this will be fixed someday

@karhoe you should tell this to NiTroGeN and to VJgrace
Gentlemen, I suspect this issue is somehow connected to currently selected homescreen. I had this issue on WM6 build 18120 homescreen with VOIP plugin, but when I chose another one not containing VOIP info, this issue has gone

I tend to believe that it is caused by either of these problems:
1 - the telco (I'm subscribing to the same telco as karhoe)
2 - the voip plugin on the Homescreen
This is what I'll do: I shall deactivate the voip plugin. But I cant afford to unsubscribe from my current telco; it offers the cheapest unlimited data plan. LOL!!
I have a feeling that it is related to VOIP, I did configure my VoIP using the xml method, and then I also installed the VoIP fix button for communication manager. Now im using HTC Home screen and so far, so good

Thoughts on Vario IV

Hi all,
Since its now out and people have them (inc myself!) I thought I'd start a new thread with initial thoughts etc
I like the feel of the unit it feels more solid than my Vario II
I synced all my contacts and texts etc but havent used it to make calls etc yet so cant comment here but the sync was as expected
The phone itself looks great -its a shame the touch-flo is so t-mobile but thats to be expected
I'll probably buy a spare battery once im sure im happy with it (I have a spare with my vario II)
so far I've only installed tomtom 7 (athough there is co-pilot data on the SD Card??)
anywho so far happy but early days!!
J
No opera only IE installed I'll look for an opera cab!!
Are there any significant issues with the latest opera beta?
I see loads of threads relating to it
Should I get the stable build (8.5?) or use the beta?
Ok folks, I've made a small discovery. If you Hard Reset the device, it gives you CoPilot 7 AND Opera back, BUT (and here's the kicker) it gives you a different (older??) version of TouchFlo 3D.
The version I have after the hard reset is 1.2.34589.1_1813.6
What do (sensible) people have out of the box?
The main difference that I can see is that it doesn't have the Favourites (in a circle arrangement) on the far left of the TouchFlo panel and I also seem to remember it looking slightly different as well. I know T-mobile test each phone before they send them out - could they have updated the software through USB but not touched the ROM? Seems like the most likely option IMO.
In respect of the device, so far I'm very impressed with the Vario's speed.
I'm comparing it to the MDA Compact IV I had for a week last year - the extra RAM definitely seems to make a noticeable difference.
Edit:
After Hard Reset:
ROM Version: 1.69.110.8 WWE
ROM Date: 08/21/08
Radio Version: 1.02.25.19
Protocol Version: 52.33.25.17U

Just ordered mine from T Mobile today - at leat the CSR knew (without prompting) it was called the Vario IV, even if they had none in stock!
Re the CoPilot - I have been a long time user of CP6 (came with my Compact II) - is it useable? And did you specify it when ordering, or do you think its inclusion (given your hard reset) is an oversight by T-Mobile?
CoPilot Live is 7 Day Trial
Version
What version of Opera is it?
Supplied Touch pro is:
1.2.34589.1_1813.6

Opera is Version 9.5, build 1522.
There is CAB file in the Windows folder to install Opera, when I first Hard reset the device and tried running it, it did not work. I think there's another file (registry?) that needs running to activate it but I quickly gave up and just reset the thing to see what would happen!
Does your TouchFlo have Favourites on the left of the Home tab?
Loving the phone at the moment. But...... texts i receive are with an internaional prefix, so the vario doesn't recognize who sent it.
Strange because there is no such problem with incoming calls ???
screen print
I dont think so..

Oh really? Another way of doing it is Start--Settings--System--Clear Storage.
The front screen you have is the same as mine now. When I get a chance I'll call up tech support to find out if they have an update.
I did the latter option and it worked thanks
Just Resyncing and putting on texts etc and then I'll play with co-pilot!

I have all my numbers stored in international format so my texts were being recognised but incoming calls weren't. Haven't had a chance to test properly but I think I've solved this by using Schapp's Advanced Config which allows you to change the number of digits that are matched.
As nice as the phone is, there a few things that are driving me crazy and I have a feeling I'm going to return it:
* Pressing left/right on the DPad requires you to press in exactly the right area otherwise you hit the call/home/hangup/back keys which is incredibly frustrating.
* No dedicated hardware keys to launch applications. I know you can configure double/triple clicks on the call/hangup keys but it doesn't work too well. You can't configure long presses on these keys
* Can't configure double/triple/long presses of the home or back keys
* Lack of hardware softkeys means I'm unable to use Sky Mobile (the java app) which, for some reason, doesn't work if you press the softkeys on the screen. Although I don't use this that often, it's incredibly useful to have.
I really don't like using Windows Mobile and having to rely on the touchscreen for everything as it's not really designed for finger operation alone. The hardware keys on the Wizard and Kaiser made them really easy to use but I can see I'm not going to get on with this :-( If only I hadn't smashed the screen on my Kaiser!
agree with most of your comments antlane, I will be calling tmobile to return one of my two handsets, I have to say the battery life on this phone is so poor. After a full charge took it off 6am this morning by 12 it had 30% left. It will not last a day for me.

@antlane you're a hero. I searched this forum and Google high and low before finding this answer. I've made the adjustment now (to 9 digits seems to work for me in the UK) and life is back to normal
For the purposes of being able to find this fix easily from web searching:
Problem: International Format Contact Numbers Not Recognised (in my case HTC Touch Pro/Raphael/Vario IV)
Solution: Use Schapp's Advanced Config to adjust number of digits matched (under 'phone' section).
As far as your other comments go, I too have mixed feelings about lack of hard buttons (especially for scroll, messaging and camera). But, in balance I am very impressed with TFL3D - it's really integrated well with the OS and provides functionality on top (e.g. remembering what track you were listening to before soft reset unlike WMP). It's fast and gives you the kind of look and feel that I expect from such a capable handset. Also like: keyboard, screen and soft keyboard options. Don't like: excessive T-mobile branding on TFL3D, lack of plain Opera option in programs (only WebnWalk), lack of 3.5mm headphone jack (adapter city still).
Thanks again @antlane
Thanks for that. Switching to 9 digits in advanced config, sorts it out perfectly.
How are people finding the T mobile branding ?? Its a bit pink for me so i may have to find a way to switch it back to HTC Black and grey.

While I don't doubt this fix works for the phone, why on earth should we have to resort to a third party program to get a basic feature of EVERY phone made in the last 10 years or so??
My Vario II could identify a number if it had a +447 or 07 prefix..why can't my shiny new toy??
I've been dealing with T-Mobile customer support and then the tech support team as well over the last couple of days.
So far I've been told to remove any duplicate contacts from the phone memory (there weren't any) then copy all contacts from my SIM over to the phone memory...and erase all SIM contacts when that didn't work!
The last thing they've suggested is that my SIM (which is about 8/9 years old) is not supplying enough voltage (3 volts as opposed to 5 volts of modern SIMs) so they're sending me a new SIM card tomorrow. Apparently (and it made me laugh) this is a common Windows Mobile fault!
Has anyone heard of this "fault" or is this typical tech support BS??!?
Vario IV and Parrot BT
Something else thats frustrating me is that the Vario wont pair fully with my Rythum and Blue stereo in the car.
All other HTC devices (going back to the universal) pair in such a way that contacts and call history sync with the car stereo
The vario IV does connect but wont sync
Annoying as the Object push profile is supported by the phone
I'll probably still keep the phone just use it less in car for calls

Phone number dialer-upper

Hi all. I have an HTC HD2 in the UK on Orange which gives me billions of free minutes - great for me to use for my business calls. At least it would be if it wasn't for the pain of having to read every number from Outlook or my browser and punch it into my phone by hand.
Is there a bit of software out there that will allow me to dial through my usb or BT connected phone from my Win7(32) PC? Perhaps from the clipboard or a context menu. If it uses my PC mic/speakers as a hands-free that's also a bonus, but not essential.
All my searches on the subject return info on VOIP etc, which I'm not looking for
Can someone point me in the right direction?
Cheers!

Wow - nobody? Really? There must be a gap in the market for an app like this!

tell me MS WP7 is NOT User Friendly!!!

I updated to 7720 and machine becomes even slower.
Here is a list of problems that I have (not only in 7720 version, some of them exist in official OS too)
1. Two alarms set at the same time will halt the system. The only solution is re-starting the machine.
2. Can NOT "answer" call when system is in sleep mode. No re-start needed but clicking the power button to light the screen first.
3. Noise in the alert during a new email comes in.
4. System acts very slowly in some xbox-live games. (Ex. PES 2011, it looks like need more memory)
5. Machine always shown a new voice mail in my mailbox, even my voice box is empty. I have not find any solution for this yet.
My question is, does MS take care of WP7 seriously?
1. Do we need the battery percentage number?
Yes, we do. Click setting --> battery --> scroll down to the end to see the little precious number.
2. Do we need to turn on/off wiki, 3G data?
Yes, we do. Setting --> wifi--> on/off and setting --> data -> on/off
I did NOT understand how MS claims this is a productivity lift as using a WP7 phone.
Educated me please.
my answer is ...................... go jump off a roof to solve all your problems by "machine" i suppose you he mean the MOBILE PHONE.. but why machine..? it's not like it is a car or something.. nevermind.. about your problem... if you really have updated to build 7220 (which actually is not a OFFICIAL or any LEAKED build) then the problem you're facing will be because of that build.. however.. if your build number is a typo, then your build should be 7720 and i would suggest you to reinstall the software and see if there's any improvment.. i havent updated to 7720 i'm still on 7712 but everything is working like a charm.. and the answer to your last question.. YES!! Microsoft is REALLY taking care of the windows phone development.. the only problem is they follow Apple's footsteps.. making your phone better with bitesizes

I am not native English speaker. So the machine in my dictionary means mobile phone.
my problem is not only in 7720 build. I hope i can say it works like a charm.
unfortunately it does not.
anyway, thank you for your inputs.

This is a development thread, you should be posting in the general or questions section. I know english is your second languge, but I do think you should be able to read well enough to figure that out. And if you have a terrible life change it up, dont just sit there complaining. So the same goes for your phone, if you dont like your OS change to a different one.

my focus on 7720 exhibits NONE of those issues. i would say it's either your phone specifically, your sofware (reload it) or you.
msft has been the most proactive in listening to their consumer base compared to any of the other mobile OS providers.
I can't speak about the games but I don't have any of the other problems with my WP7 build 7712.
The last one is an issue with either your carrier or your SIM.

A lot of the promise of WP7 is to eliminate the need for some of the obsessive low-level tweaking and constant tinkering needed to get the most from a mobile phone.
In other words, why do you actually want to constantly be turning off wi-fi and 3G data? Probably because other phones and previous experience tells you that you have to do those things in order to prolong your battery life. Same with battery meters.
With WP7 I no longer feel the need to know the exact percentage of battery remaining. The user experience is optimized to focus on productivity and not on obsessive details. I am very happy to have tiles with my loved ones, apps I use a lot, facebook updates, and inboxes on my home screen instead of having to clutter it up with gauges and switches.
If you really can't live without those things, I suggest Android. Again I'll say that they're only necessary to overcome traditional shortcomings of other mobile platforms.
The first is indeed a big problem, android has a good deal.Hope to solve the problem ms
