Select Settings>Sounds & Notifications>Notifications
Select "Messaging - New Text Message" from Events list
Tick "Display Message on screen"
This will cause the Sender Name/Phone No and Text message to appear on the screen for a short while when a new text is received. After the text disappears you can access the text via the notification softkey.

Bigger font for incoming sms preview?

Anyone know whether we can change the font for the preview of incoming SMS?
Look for software called ZoomSMS. It was invented for Eten devices but works well on HTC phones as well.
ZoomSms don't preview automatically...
Of course it does.
i have got a copy and tried...but there is no option to preview.
it will show an icon on the screen and you will have to tap on it
to open the preview of the SMS.
and do u happen to know..how to get rid of the icon and its system
tray shortcut?
thanks..
Look in the phone settings (when you tap on antenna icon, go settings). Check all the tabs there.
thank i manage to hide the tray but still no option to preview Sms
upon receiving. Still need to tap on the mail icon to read the Sms.

How to stop new message popup?

Hi all,
I have a HTC Touch running WM6.
As I am sure you are all aware, when you recieve a new sms or email message, a popup is displayed at the bottom of the screen, which displays the beginning of the new message.
This I do not like as it obviously exposes the contents of the beginning of the message (especially in sms) which is not very private, esp. if you are doing something on the phone showing other people.
Is there a way to stop this pop up balloon? Maybe just get it to say "New message" or even just make a sound / vibrate but with no popup and the "no new messages" icon will of course just switch to indicating new messages waiting?
Many thanks,
Jon
Hi, i have a german rom, i hope ive translated the way right;

How to change the default action for a favourite contact

Hi,
I have a little annoying problem. One of the contacts in the favourite list has the default action set to "Send Message" (I'm talking about the little icon just below the photo and name).
The problem is that all (but one) of my favourites have the default action set to Call Contact (the little earpiece icon) except this one.
I want to have every action set to "Call Contact" but I can't find any option where to change it.
It's the only phone number I have for this contact and it is filed under Mobile.
Can anyone help me with this?
scroll down to the contact, then press right or left
I think he is talking about the favourite contacts and not the contacts app. only way i know to do that is to delete the contact and then add them again and you will be able to choose between send message and call

Possible to Forward Text with Original Sender's Info in Handcent/Next SMS?

Can Handcent/Next SMS forward messages using the format below to show the forwarding recipient the original sender's name and number? I've checked Handcent settings, and if the capability is there, I am not seeing how to enable it. Thanks for any help with this.
Fwd:
From Dave,+10000000000
The part was shipped yesterday. It will arrive on Tuesday.
To enable the forwarding as I described above, open Handcent Next SMS. While displaying the Inbox, click the three-line "hamburger" menu at the top left. Choose "More" > "Settings" and click the "All" tab. Scroll down to the "Chat" section and choose "Send Message Settings" > "Forwarding message icon". From there you can choose "No prefix" or with "FWD" prefix or with "FWD" prefix and source.
