I've searched and I've searched but cannot find it anywhere
By "it" I mean any reference to any normal ringtones that are
a) more like the sorta things you find in Nokias
b) not sh!t when put through WMP10.
I still like the oldphone as supplied on the first XDA I had, but I sometimes would like just to have a nice discreet "ring ring" or a "bip....bip....bip" style ringer rather than "RIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNG" which sounds loud even on a low volume setting.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Cheers
Ant
Dear Ant,
Now you've got a cool device and you long for Nokia ringtones? I do not get this. I've uploaded some ringtones for you. Please download them and place them in the Windows/Rings directory. The Dave Brubeck one is very cool and quite discreet. The Bernard Hermann one you might recognize form Kill Bill vol I.
It's 6 ringtones in total:
Dave Brubeck - Take 5
Bernard Hermann - Twisted Nerve
Eurytmics - Sweet Dreams
Lumidee - Never Leave you
Rocky Theme
The Cure - Lullaby
I hope you enjoy them and never long for Nokia tunes again!
Rgds,
Izzard
LOL you don't understand....I've had XDA phones for nearly 3 years now and I've gone through all the extravagent ringtones.
I don't know if anyone else is the same, but the saturation of ringtones in the past 2 years (constant adverts with ****e ringtones based on ****e songs) has left me wanting to be different by NOT having a stupid ringtone on my phone. I've had oldphone for the LONGEST time and I work in a professional environment so it suits. The kiora song as my ringtone lasted about a week before I got bored of it and thought I wanted to something better. Someone had crazyfrog at work and when it went off we all took the p*ss out of him for it!
Thanks for your efforts but yes I am still hankering after the more sensible ringtones that they had. I still have Homer telling me there's a new text message, though!
Ant
when you can use wma ringtones the options are endless
heck you could use your xda to record any nokia phone make it wma and use it
Been there, done that. Though the recordings were never particularly good. Might try again with my girlfriend's 7610.
Cheers
Ant
Try this one, bit loud but not a bad "normal" tone
Think it came from here originally
Oops try again.

I was looking at some Star Wars R2D2 toys today and found they had a great sound effect. I have editied the sounds together into this file for use as a ring tone.

enjoy
The link dead is. The force mysterious be...
I just checked it with two different computers using ie and firefox and its fine. Also 18 other people have downloaded it in that time. Maybe your isp is not functioning normally.
OK, that was weird! I tried several times an hour or so ago, but nothing. Now I got it right away. Thanks!
Cannot get R2D2
I got nothing too. The quicktime logo came up, together with the playbar, but no sound.
I have a good r2D2 anyway ... and was looking for a different one
I tested it again with no problem. 70 others have downloaded at this time, maybe too many trying at the same time?
I attached the file here so give that a try (as mp3 cant attach I renamed it to .exe, just put the mp3 extension back). If anyone has a problem with this I will gladly remove it, but I guess the ban on mp3 was just to avoid copyright problems on music.
Hi guys,
I am fairly new to this forum and this is my first post and i would like to say a big hello to everyone.
I am outstanded by the amount of time and effort that has gone in to some of the development for the wm phones as i am a new user and have recently got a HTC touch diamond.
The problem that I have is that the standard alarm sounds are pretty pants to say the least and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or could post some decent alarm sounds that i can wake up to.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks and keep up the good work.
Hi, get hold of a program called RJV ToneSetter and you can use any sound for your alarm. I usually have a music track and let it play all the way through 2 or 3 times before i stop it
Well, this is a complicated theme, as maybe you want a specific tone or music
I would recommend you to make your own with some music editor (Nero wave editor) so you can choos your music, then save it as WMA file and that´s it!
Hope it helps
I noticed slight vibration during some of the notification sounds. Doing some research on low frequency speaker vibration i found two frequencies which do not produce much (if any) sound on our gtabs. However, the thing will vibrate. Check the files below.

That's cool. I guess now we wait for development to impement into Rome. Thank you
not sure any rom devs will be interested in implementing this as a form of haptic feedback on the g-tab. However, I thought I would post the findings in-case any rom or app devs are looking for a solution to the lack of a vibrator in these tablets.

That is cool. I think this would be a nice feature if it could be worked in somehow. It is sometimes *hard* to go from an android phone with feedback to the gtablet keyboard.
Or we replace the keyboard clickity clacks with the 150 and 200 Hz wav files... buzz buzz buzz as we type ... buzz with any screen press as well if that is replaced .. having just spent the final weeks of this past semester dealing with harmonics for a calculus based physics class I cannot believe this never dawned on me...
Also, I primarily just use the tab for classical pandora music, tapatalk, and pocket legends.... so nothing really ever played at those frequencies before... gives as firm rumble at 200 and faint rumble at 150.

Dude. Not bad
Thanks OP for being creative. freq150 doesn't make any vibration here but 200 seems like it would work.
What's the easiest way to try this? I have found the keyboard sound selection but there's no option to choose your own file. I also tried to copy freq200.wav into the folder containing the other sounds but get a permissions error. I am only a few weeks new to Android so pardon the newb questions.
Also, do you think there could be any negative long term impact to the speakers by playing these tones?

That's a good point. I was wondering that too. It go either way eg.; speakers are built for producing sound and these are just different frequency sounds OR the speakers are designed for mid range sounds and therefore will battle to play the sounds and the low frequency messes with them...
Not sure which makes more sense, not that clued up on sound tech.
I dont have my Gtab here today but if you want to use this in place of the typewriter sound on the keyboard I would extract that file, load it into an audio editor and see how long it is and what filetype it is. then load the 150 or 200mhz sound file into the editor and match the filetype and length. Load the new vibration sound file back onto the gtab and slect it as the sound for the keyboard.
Hi, guys!
I can't set my mp3 file as a ringtone! Is there any way to do it without cutting it?
Thank you!
Sadly not has to be under 40 seconds and under 1mb

Exactly under 39s
@thread starter: if you have any trouble in cutting stuffs, i will do it for ya, just give me a PM.
Actually it's not stupid. i don't want to hear your 3 minute song lol!
I myself have never found a reason to have a ringtone longer than ~40 seconds. 40 seconds is a *very* long time to answer your phone, most people have hung up by then. So what's the point of having a 3 Minute ringtone if you're never even going to hear it in it's full lenght? If you want to listen to music, start playing it in Zune
Thanks
Thank you, guys!
But it really not comfortable to do so many operations in order to set a ringtone. Android is much simpler - just one-two touches and a ringtone ir ready!
Thank you anyway
While I agree that it's a lot easier on android than the current way on WP7, i find the result of the later more statisfying because you can select the part you like best as your ringtone (chorus or a specific guitar solo). I find that most of my music has slow and/or silent intros, right from the top of my head I can only think of one song that I would want the intro from as a ringtone...
I made these tones a while ago and still use them. A lot of people that hear them think they are pretty sweet and I've been asked by many if they can get them. Since several of my friends are using them now, I thought I'd share them with everyone on here.
There are two tones; Off Seasons Long.mp3 and Off Seasons Short.mp3. The long version is meant to be used as a rigntone, and the short as a notification tone.
For those that don't know how to use custom ringtones; just create two folders on your SD card. One called ringtones and the other notifications. Place what you want in each folder to be selectable as a ringtone or notification.
Anyway, check'em out and let me know what you all think. Thanks!
