Which ROM to use? (I've read tons of old post)

I have read a bunch of post on this but still not finding the answers. So, please forgive me if this is a repeat question.
I browsed thru the ftp site (under the Magician folder), but not sure of which ROM to download since there are so many of them and not sure of which is the most stable version (O2, i-mate, qtek, MDA?).
I have the O2 XDA II mini with the following version:
- ROM version: 1.03.00 WWE.
- ROM date: 11/01/04
- Radio version: 1.01.00
- Protocol version: 1337.38
- ExtROM version: 1.03.166 WWE
Or, should I use the one that I downloaded from seeo2.com site: the filename is:
ma_o2asia_11100_922_11100_ship.exe?
Also, when I update the ROM, would it lock my phone? I bought the phone in USA so I assume the phone is unlock.
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'd use the Qtek S100 1.11 ROM (it's what i use now) as it's completely stable (1.12 seems not to be..) and then apply bigstorage to it..

How about the O2 ROM? I'd like to stay with O2 ROM (instead of using the Imate or Qtek ROM). Could anybody point me to the correct ROM to use? I browsed around the ftp but there are so many of them (extrom, bigstorage, modified, shipped). Thanks for the help!

The O2 ROM on their website was put up in May and is v1.11 and it's working OK for me.

I bought a T-Mobile Compact, and someone had loaded the I-Mate 1.11 ROM on there. I kept having a problem wth the GPRS failing to connect. I then upgraded to the 1.12 ROM, and it was even worse. I kept the 1.12 radio, and then downgraded to the basic 1.06 ROM. It is stable, and honestly, I don't see what the differences are besides now I can connect to GPRS whenever I want.
I also applied the bigstorage hack, and only applied the basic extended ROM cab files from 1.12 and the bluetooth patch from 1.06. I received my Compact last week, and applied 1.06 yesterday. So far, no issues have cropped up. Man, this Compact is so much less buggy than my MDAIII. The MDAIII was so feature packed, but had sooo many problems.

The best rom 1.12 I-mate/Qtek/T-mobile?

Have anyone tried the above roms?
I´ve upgraded from the first preinstalled T-mobile rom to the newest Qtek 1.12, but "maybe" the I-mate or the new T-mobile roms are better????
Does anyone know??
(the T-mobile is a backup from one of the siteusers new T-mobile - they dont offer an upgrade....)

I did it today Not anhy question just do it.

Okay - have downloaded the I-mate one - but I´m waiting for the T-mobile 1.12............... :wink:

mda keeps rebooting
please help.
i did uprade mij mda by using the link.
after its had finished en i did restart it its keep reboting en miy divice is out of order.
can somone help fix my problem

I've got i-mate Jam and if I'm not wrong the HW it's identical of QTEK S100 for example... but the firmware?

SEARCHING original proximus collection rom for the Qtek S200

If someone reads this and has bought a Qtek S200 from
the Proximus Collection ( Belgian Provider ) please reply in this topic.
I had my phone for one day and I already flashed it to a Dutch ROM cause strange enough this Proximus ROM was English. I tried dumping
the ROM in a terminal to a SD card but I had no rights ( said the terminal screen ). But now I just saw there is another method. So my question now is that anyone who has his S200 still working with this Custom Proximus ROM, please let me know so he/she can dump the rom and send it to me ( or on public FTP, so anyone can use ) then I'm able to restore to original state. Thanks.

I have qtek s200 with a chinese interface which i want to change to an english interface. any assistance, please.

when i got my S200 (also from Belgium) i was instructed to go to http://www.smart-phones.be and get the rom there.
i saw that there is still a ROM available for the S200 over there, it's RUU_Prophet_2090724_20907106_020720_QtekWWE_Ship.exe
i don't think it's the original proximus one, but might be usefull to someone. pretty fast ftp also.

This is an English rom, and because I am Dutch, I want to try this one:
RUU_Prophet_2100725_21007105_020720_QtekNLD_Ship.exe
My question(s): Can I update to this ROM without any problems? And if I don't like the Dutch language in the NLD-ROM, can I turn back to the WWE ROM (like: RUU_Prophet_2090724_20907106_020720_QtekWWE_Ship.exe)?

if you have no problems with the current rom stick with it. I used to have the dutch qtek rom and wasn't too happy with it. Experienced numerous problems and generally slow system.
I switched to the WWE version using the tool in the No Vendor rom thread.

I also a different language rom (french)... and I upgraded to WWE without any problem...
When you did this, do you know if your ipl version changed?

I think you will be able to upgrade to a dutch rom... but after that, I think you will have a problem to downgrade the version to an english rom...

somebody did a rom change from WWE to NLD???

I've tried many ROM's. On my HTC Wizard as well on my Prophet.
It's not just plug an play though My advice is to check out the Wizard forum, it's almost identical to the Prophet.
At the moment I run the latest Dopod (WWE) on my Prophet, but I've used the Dutch 'language pack' from the Wizard. It takes a little more effort to get it working, but it works fine for me at the moment. With no flaws at all!

I'm new in all this. Recently I get one Vodafone VPA Compact (Magician).
It all works but I have one problem. It's English version, and I don't know English so I want to switch it on Italian. Can somebody tell me how can I do this exactly (some links, guide, which programs I need to use), because I'm new in all this and I don't want to brake my gift

hmm, to change language you must upload new rom to your MDA
i looked for italian one, but i only found this site:

hello ,well i will try to tell the procedure
first get the italian rom you need for your device
then get the update tool
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Magician/Tools/MAupgrade Ut.exe cracked.rar
put all files (extracted) in 1 folder
put phone in bootloader mode (hold camera+on/off+reset)
then run the maupgradeut and follow the steps on the screen
if all goes wel you will have a italian rom on your magician
