Downloading a file onto my PPC from GPRS...? - General Topics

is it possible to download a file to my pocket PC through the internet? I was wondering if there was a program that allowed me to insert an online link to a music video or something and download it straight to my PPC. This would allow me to download and watch things whilst im out and about connected to O2 GPRS
Thanks
Simon

are you talking about peer 2 peer
streaming
ftp
or normal http download ?
at least http download should be supported in IE

Samsung I600 Smartphone and wifi Lan

Hi boys, is there an application to see the share folders of my private lan with wifi?
I would open documents or mp3 share from my computers.
In PocketPC there is the possibility to share, why in Smartphone no? I can "fix" it?
Many thanks!
dapa
Yes the pocket pc has it all!
In the smartphone world you can use the ftp client in the resco explorer or total commander and download files from your PC (over wlan) but you cannot open them before you download first them to your device.
On the pc you must install first a programm like GuildFTP an to configure everthing properly.
That's the only way I've found to share files over wifi

map / link an FTP connection

I don't have a very large micro SD card so for fun I was going to try to stream stuff straight from my FTP.
Is there an application that allows you to map or link FTP connections to a "folder" so that the data would be accessible from other programs?
I've tried Resco Explorer 2008 and it doesn't seem to do that (even though it almost seems to hint that it can on their website).
Thanks!
a ftp cant stream
stream is a term used for media where the server send a bit at the time for the client to recieve rather then sending the whole "file" and then have the client play it
ftp's dont support streaming
I'm not trying to stream a video/audio if that is what you are thinking intead I just want to have constant access to multiple small files as they would be in a regular file system. This is doable by windows applications such as SFTP Drive or Novell Netdrive.
Either way the definition for "stream" doesn't suggest any certain way a file is accessed just that a "succession of data elements (be) made available over time."
Did someone find a program to map FTP to a folder?

Video Streaming Question

what is the most effective way to stream video on your PPC
i ve got a tytn II.
my question:
1. How do I use the 'streaming media' program that asks for rtsp:\\?
2. I also want to stream video directly from my PC from my tytn. i had to set my PC as a VPN server for my tytn to view the shared media file but it wouldnt play anything. I could only view the files.

I have the HTC network plugin installed which allows me to view all my shared files and folders from my desktop on my device. I use TCPMP to access my desktop shared files and folders to view my appropriately converted videos and listen to my desktop's music collection. (All this at home over WIFI connection.
When away from home but still using WIFI (any open unlocked WIFI hotspot) I use Winamp remote which I can leave running on my desktop at home. Logon to winamp remote from winamp remote website using my internet browser on my device and access my shared folders (had to direct to these specific folders using Winamp remote from desktop first) and view videos or listen music on my device which are on my desktop computer at home.
thanks for the reply. i tried the HTC network plugin. it looks like a promising little tool but it fails to detect my PC i am afraid.
i am also curious as to why I can ONLY view the shared files on my PC while doing a search through the 'file explorer' over a VPN connection seeing that my Tytn II and my PC are on the same network? this seems unneccesary and I think is the reason why the network plugin wont detect any PC on the network.
not sure what I am doing wrong.
p.s. the TCPMP woulnt install on my tytn II either.
I installed the tcpmp.pocketpc.0.72RC1.cab . it gives me an error msg "unexpected program failure.please send crash.txt to developers"
i am using WM6.1

I'm surprised it won't install. Download it from another site and try again.
strange strange - i tried the network plugin with a XDA Ignito aka HTC touch diamond and it worked like a charm. was able to detect all devices on my network and was able to run all media file using coreplayer. PERFECT
gotto thank hotrod101 for pointing me in the right direction.
so i guess i need to sort out my tytn II out - i cant say i m very happy with the device. i ve had problem with it ever since i ve updated it with WM6.1 and prior to it.
still looking forwarding to hearing from someone about the rtsp:\\ streaming media thingy bobby.

Download from my PC to phone over the internet?

I'm looking for some software that will allow me to download videos, music, photos and other documents from my home PC to my android phone over the internet.
So far I have found only remote desktop clients and some streaming services but I really want something that will allo me to download the files rather than just stream them.
Any suggestions welcome!
I need it too!

Increase internet speeds upto 100-1000Mbps!

Increase your Internet speeds like hell crazy (Upto 100-1000Mbps) using rabbit site. Its not fake.
Rabbit is a Linux server. When you visit the site you have to register there and then they will connect you to a high speed internet server.
Note:- You can't download any files to your system because it's a Linux server but you can download files on their server and then upload it to your Google drive or any cloud and download it when you have or you are connected to a fast wifi network.
I also made a video about it on my YT channel. Do check it out!

Visit rabbit- rabb.it
Note:- Rabbit is only available for Windows and ios not Android but you can vist Rabbit on your Android browser by desktop mode and just connect a keyboard using otg to type and then enjoy the high speed net! (CHROME BROWSER recommend bye me)
