First of all, I want to say thank you to the people who have spent their time to get A2DP working. I'm sure it wasn't easy and your efforts are truely appreciated!
So I have been trying to get A2DP working smoothly on my SDA for several weeks now. It sounds great and it never skips if I have just done a soft reset. If I pause the music and try to resume later, a "skip" in the music stream develops. It does not seem to help if I restart the music player (tried WMP and TCPMP) or if I power cycle the headset or the bluetooth antenna in my SDA. I have tried several headsets, including the Motorola HT-820's, the Bluespoon Spider, and both the black and white pair of Logitech headsets. All of them have had a skipping problem, but they were also slightly different problems; the Moto's had a relatively infrequent skip occuring every 30 seconds to a minute, lasting 1-2 seconds. The Spiders skiped once every 10 seconds, lasting about 1 second. Both my Logitech sets skip every 3 or 4 seconds, but the skip only lasts for 1/4 of a second or less.
In the last 2 weeks, I have also recieved a new SDA compliments of T-mobiles warranty service and my results were similar with both SDA's. Other things I have tried:
- Hard reset, installing only Tornado_A2DP.cab and Tor_A2DP_cert.cab
- Hard reset, installing the cab file and the certs in opposite order
- Priority256, UseJointStereo, and BitPool reg hacks
- SurrealNetworks performance booster cab file
- Overclocking the CPU on my first SDA (don't want to try on my new SDA)
One odd thing which I have noticed is if I am navigating the menu on my SDA or even just using the joystick to select different items on my homescreen, the skip seems to stop. But it always starts skipping again once I am done playing with my phones menu.
I believe the only thing left to try is an AKU2.0 rom, but I don't want to void the warranty on my SDA yet. Does anyone have any ideas? Are their any different values I should try concerning the reg hacks? Is anyone running imate and qtek roms with the A2DP hack and experiencing skips? TIA
aku2 rom
Here is a link to the qtek8300 aku2 rom. I am using it on my qtek 8300, w/ the a2dp hack, no skipping problems. I am jealous that you have 2 SDAs, you suck. good luck, anyway.

Lol, I had to send my old SDA back. But I was able to experiment with both SDA's for a couple of days and they both had similar problems.
What kind of headset are you using? Do you have to set as wireless stereo everytime you want to listen to music, or do you just pair the headset and you're good to go?
hey, I tried the motorol HT820, and they were uncomfortable and had bad distortion. I returned those, and got a Sony HBH DS970, and they are very comfortable, and sound terrific (cheaper, also). AVRCP controls work with WMP. Hopefully, they will work w/ the new coreplayer, haven't heard anything about that.
Once the headset is paired it is ready to go, BUT, there is one issue. If a call comes in while listening to music, the call works fine, but when the call is over, the phone has to be manually switched back to 'set as wireless stereo'. IMHO, this has been a relatively minor inconvenience.
I also thought the ht820's were uncomfortable, but I never experienced the high pitch distortion that a number of people have been complaining about. Those sony's look nice, but i'm looking for an around-the-head style headset like the moto's or logitech's. That's good to hear the sony set works well, despite the call issue.
Thanks for the feedback

Strange one that... I have an O2 IQ (Tornado, I believe, although it may be an Innovation?) and after applying the A2DP_Tornado cabs all is well, I have had no skipping, calls work properly, WMP pauses playback on an incoming call and resumes once the call is dropped as it should...
I notice in the first post there was no mention of replacing the DLL's... you are replacing them right? And with something like Resco File Explorer or the like... using the default explorer may not actually replace the DLL's!!
Funny you mention that because I didn't install the DLL's the first time i did the hack weeks ago, but I have copied the DLL's to the windows directory the last several times I tried hard resetting and reinstalling. Also, those DLL's don't exist in my windows directory on my SDA, so my only option is to copy them to the directory.
So I just tried this hack again. Steps are as follows...
1. Hard Reset
2. Sync with my computer, copy DLL files to \windows\, soft reset
3. App unlock the SDA, soft reset
4. Run certs cab, soft reset
5. Run A2DP cab, install to device, soft reset
6. Sync with bt headset
I listened to music for about 5 minutes and it was crystal clear. Paused for 5 minutes and then resumed the music and it still skips Thanks for the suggestion, it was well worth trying.
Can someone explain what the SBC.dll file does? The readme in the a2dp zip file shows reg edits concerning the other 2 dll's, but it doesn't show a reg edit involving the SBC.dll file.
Activesync...
Not sure that copying the files over with active sync will work...
And without a 3rd Party explorer you won't see the dll's in ROM, because of this I don't think they will overwrite... an app like Resco File Explorer (or smartphone version of Total Commander if there is one) allows you to see all the dll's and overwrite them with no problems...
You won't get an error using the default explorer, it just won't update the files... one way to try it is to d/l the demo of Resco File Explorer (or get a copy by other means) and do it that way...

The "call issue" is particularly strange, because I didn't have it with the HT820s, only the sony headphones have that problem. I have read that other folks have also been having that issue w/ the sony headphones, so maybe it is specific to the sony bluetooth settings? Probably they rigged them so they would only work right w/ the Sony Walkman phones. anyway, I am still happy with them.

On previous attempts to make this hack work, I have used the stock file explorer, Activesync, and Total Commander to copy the DLL's. I just did a hard reset and copied the DLL's via Resco, installed the cabs and the skip is still there
On a side note, I looked in the windows directory using Resco before I copied the DLL's and the 3 DLL's were not to be found in my ROM prior to copying them. :shrug:

When I installed, file transfer over activesync worked fine. What are you doing about the registry edits? I know that there have been some cab files claiming to do them automatically, but when I installed, I just typed them in using a registry editor. If you didn't enter them manually, maybe you might want to check to make sure that they have been modified as they are supposed to be.
Ya, I've seen the A2DP_improve.cab file, but I haven't used it. I have been manually entering the reg edits via Total Commander. The priority256 edit is supposed to fix the skip problem, but it isn't doing the trick for me. I've been entering 60 as the dword value, but is there a different value I should try that might be more effective?
Curious. I just followed the instructions on kyungas original post, which had a number of "dword" values. I have no clue at all what any of them means or does, but none of them are set to 60.
The Priority256 key isn't noted in kyungas first post. This key is a claimed to be an improvement hack noted in this thread...

Go ahead, just ask me how many times I have used the search button
Well, i finally broke down and installed the latest i-mate ROM. My skipping problem has disappeared, the interface is much better, and my phone is definitely running faster. I may have voided my warranty, but i'm a much happier camper now.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help me with the skipping problem on the stock ROM, your input was greatly appreciated.

Hello,
QuickGPS doesn't download ephemeral data. I always have a good internet connectiond and I tried it often. It succeeded for me exactly once. The first time I tried it. I powercycled my device. After that it was possible to install the cab (I think the old quickgps application was running). And after that I was able to download my ephemeral data.

Ok, so here's my experience with my O2 Orbit 2, after two frustrating days and reading most topics on QuickGps, I think I understand what the problem is. So here's how i fixed my phone's QuickGps without installing any cab but just 1 download and playing with the registry.
My Orbit2's QuickGps worked perfectly for some months but and at some point some days ago it just stopped working. I started reading the topics here, and seen there's so many answers... but none worked.
I've set the registry keys as above... and nothing.
Well, that's because it's not just setting the keys. It's a bit more. A friend of mine also helped me, he has the same phone as I do (O2 Orbit 2) and I borrowed it for one day to compare the content of the two phones (registry and files).
So, the main cause why QuickGps stops working is because at some point, the ephemerides download that is stored in \Windows\xtra.bin gets corrupted.
So, if your QuickGps stops working, what you need to do first is check the size of the file \Windows\xtra.bin. If it's less than about 42k then it's corrupted. It's usual size is about 48K.
So you need to delete that file and download a new copy manually.
1. Download
http://service.mio-tech.com/eeservice/packedephemeris.ee
and rename it to xtra.bin. Then connect your phone via ActiveSync and copy that file to your mobile's Windows folder, eg \Windows\xtra.bin
2. Disconnect Activesync
3. Do a softreset
4. After reset, Launch QuickGps, you will see that it has updated the ephemerides data. You need to do this so the values of the registry get updated correctly.
Note: When you do this, the following registry keys should get updated by QuickGps automatically:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\QuickGPS]
"RemindTime"
"Bias"
"ExpiredTime"
So you don't need to edit them.
5. Kill QuickGps
6. Do a softreset
7. After reset, launch a registry editor and make sure you have these values in
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\QuickGPS]
"folder"="\Windows\"
"region"="GB"
"INIDate"="20060531"
"remind"=dword:00000000
"actSync"=dword:00000001
"auto"=dword:00000000
"NotifyID"=dword:00001960
"INIFile"=""
"path"=""
"EEFile"="xtra.bin"
"curRegion"=dword:00000000
"curIP"=dword:00000000
"pwd"="1"
"authname"="1"
Please keep in mind that the key entry
"region"="GB" is region dependant, so you might have different entries like "region"="US" or "region"="AU" depending on where your location is.
8. Kill the registry editor, and re-launch it. Make sure the values from step 7 are in there and then kill the registry editor again. Repeat step 8 until you have the above values in the registry (I found out that for some reason, some registry entries were changed when phone was connected via ActiveSync or after I've run QuickGps and not softreset after).
9. Connect the phone to ActiveSync and launch Internet Explorer or a browser and go to any site, like Google or whatever. Once the page has been loaded, just wait a few seconds and kill the browser.
Explanation: you need to do this step because sometimes QuickGps just fails to connect even if there is an internet connection available. So you basically just force an internet connection. I was stuck 1 day at this point, my friend's phone and mine had the exact same xtra.bin (copied from his mobile to mine) and the same registry keys. However, my phone wasn't working and his was So sometimes it's not just the registry keys it is about enforcing a connection as well.
10. Run QuickGps and attempt to "Download" an update. It should not fail.
Just don't run anything manually inbetween steps, follow them.
If for any reason this guide does not work for you, then the problem most likely lies in the registry keys and/or the QuickGps's internet connection.
This method worked for me, hope it works for you. Let me know
Nice, my Quickgps is now working . Thanks
Menkul
It works for me great to!
Best Regards!
Works for me as well! Well it did once I realised I hadn't changed curegion from 1 to 0!

You're welcome. You need to edit and enter:
"ExpiredTime"=dword:00002760
But I guess you probably already did that
That will give you 7 days (6d 23h 59m )

I have the same problem when I try to do an update I get a message "connection failed try later".. I do this via WIFI as I have never been able to connect internet via Activesync/USB.. Just was able to update meteo.. Can ayone help amnd givng me simple instruction on how to dela ??? Thank you:co
Mmm, yeah. Mine was working fine until 2 weeks or so ago, would ask me to download every 6 days and complete that just fine. Since then it fails to connect. I ended up just setting it not to try and download at all. It was getting annoying.
Is the update server dead or...?

I wonder.. I put the question to HTC and tehy suggested to do a hard reset... not very helpful.. What solution? Have you tried the manipulation indicated above? Did it fix the problem?
Hello,
I'm a long time browser of this site (for the past few years), and this is my first time posting. Great site - I love it!
I've just upgraded to a o2 Orbit 2 (HTC Touch Cruise).
I love this device, I've been using Pocket PCs since PPC2000 but never a PDA/Phone hybrid before, this is my first, it's amazing!
I'm using an 8gb MicroSD card to store as much as I can, rather that storing apps on ther main memory (the only apps installed there are Resco file explorer, and any today plug-ins etc).
I am having a slight issue with Sprite Backup, included with this device.
Everytime I try and backup my device state to the SD card, the program freezes about 32 seconds into the backup operation, the status in the app says "building self restoring header". I've left this for well over an hour, just incase it's working, but when i've returned to the device it's still stuck in this stage, and I have to soft-reset the device.
I've hard-reset a few times now, but to no avail, the program still freezes.
Currently I'm using the default stock o2-branded rom:
ROM Version: 1.25.206.3 WWE
ROM [email protected] 01/03/08
Radio Version: 1.58.25.14
Protocol version: 25.69.30.05H
Anyone else experience a problem like this? If so, how did you get around it?
Thanks in advance, Keep up the good work,
Chris.
never had this problem
hi there!
I got the same device, and it works (almost) perfect.
I can perform a Backup, no lacks, no critical errors, but everytime one file is skipped(a tmp file). It realy doesn't matter for me, i tried to restore a backup yesterday and it worked fine. The only thing which wasn't restored was the "photo dial cube", i had to add my friends again.. i think you know what i mean, ah and i had to set up the vpn connection again.
Everything else was restored fine. All contacs, all of my messages, pix, software... even the trial period of mochavnc keeps running, and wasn't reseted(doh).
I think a reinstallation could solve your problem. On the CD's which were delivered by O2 there is a Insaller for Sprite Backup. Try this.
Have a nice Day!
Greetings
Win****
Hi there, thanks for the reply.
I've reinstalled again. It was one of my apps (S2U2, or CallFirewall) that was causing the problem.
Some files were locked and couldnt be unlocked when Sprite Backup kills the processes.
I've found an alternative backup application, Resco Backup, that works flawlessly.
I've even performed a hard reset and restored from the backup, so all is good!!
So you don't use sprite anymore?
I'm fighting with my phone for three days now.
everytime I reboot after a restore, (sprite reboots it first after which all comes up well adn my phone is my old one) but as said after any reboot I do hereafter all my microsoft applications can't find their initiation files sych as :mssyncapp, :mspoutlook :mscprog, :msexplore
I've tried many times and many things and discovered that probably sprite is doing a background task. And it is.
As it resets to the wrong time and date, when set in the right time and date it has missed tasks and it will start these tasks imediately.
Uninstalling sprite helped me out!
But sprite is not easy to uninstall so many files will stay onboard and again after a reboot: crash.
Since the only sollution is factory reset (t-mobile screen), install sprite, restore phone, uninstall sprite, reboot and hope it will not fail the microsoft apps again; it is very time consuming to find out what the *** sprite is doing / has done to my phone.
Hard reset and reinstall every single application I had already installed seems the best way and like my predecessor; do not use the software that came free with your phone. It kills and also sels; a premium version, now why would I need that?
I have O2 orbit2 in german and I've been trying to download the QuickGPS update for some months but every time it downloads to 100% and then it says "probleme with signal/conection try aqain later" but it never works and I have no GPS :-(.
Can anybody help?
Don't know if you still have this problem.
Anyhow, same thing happened to me. Tried all the registry imports but it didn't work. Couldn't even change my external gps settings, which were all set to zero. TomTom never found a gps device.
Backed up my phone with spb backup; did a hard reset; verified that gps was now working and that quickgps was updating correctly; restored my backup and finished. All is working now.
This may be a side effect of not having enough free memory on the device side, which causes certain files to go corrupt, i.e. drivers etc.
Hope this helps a bit....
I had the problem as well.
I tried other solutions found in other threads, but finally a hard reset did the job.
Édan's guess that the lack of free memory is the source is likely since my problem occured after i got several messages about too less memory.
My problem using this(memmaid 2.3,windows mobile 6.1) is when I open the main program, and clean up the dead registry, it will go on and not stopping even if it is already clean more than it should. Does anyone have the solution?
dead registry
i bought an asus q552w one week ago and want to install some prgm (backup for example, sktool) i tried this memmaid... after 20 min it was showing 34.6 mega (yes!) of dead registry so i cancelled the cleaning process... what is wrong pls? tks
memmaid problems cleaning dead registry
I am having the same problem here on my Samsung Omnia II (W.M. 6.5) . I had installed the MemMaid 2.3 and when I run it , when reaches the dead registry to clean, it keep´s runing forever. I waited till it reaches 50MB , what is impossible on dead registry...
Anyone had this problem? Does anyone know what is happening?

Many people encounter the following computer problems: take a long time to start up, load websites or run programs. Recently I find functional software which can fix all these problems just with one click: tuneup360, maybe you guys could have a try.
Actually most times there is no need to rebuild or reinstalled your PC windows system, what you need is a PC protector. TUNEUP360 is good choice, you just need to click one big “fix now” button and get your computer fixed at once. ---By DearBrands Software
