How do I back up a Solitaire score before an upgrade? - General Topics

I know it's a bit sad, but does anyone know how to back up a Solitaire score before an upgrade? I assume there's a file or registry entry somewhere, but where is it?
Cheers,
Phil.

I'm trying to find a solution at this problem, and i find your post!!
in five years no reply?
anyone can help us??
thank you

Try this:
http://www.mobilitydigest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2671
Edit: This is the shortcut you need to backup solitaire:
Code:
1#\Windows\dF_TaskMgr.exe /regxpkey \Storage Card\My Backups\Registry\Solitaire.reg [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Solitaire]

wowowoow.... thank yoy very much...
Your link is really interesting...i'm trying to test the procedure for backup/restore but
for the moment it's seems that i have some problem to make it work...
I succefully backup the Solitaire tree registry...but i'm not be able to restore it yet...

You just need to associate .reg files with dotfred's task manager, and then they'll import automatically when you click on them. Go to the Regedit tab (small down arrow on top right of the display), then scroll down to the regeditor. Select 'associate' on the bottom left menu, or just select 'import,' and re-import the solitaire.reg file.

Yesssssssss.....you are great!!!
thank you very much!!!
it's works!!!! ....with dotfred's task manager and your procedure it's works...
with Resco Registry instead no!!!!
so the thread ...and my problem is solve!!

It's a good way to cheat, I'll tell you that.

Alternative to PHM Traylaunch.

Hello all!
Is there an alternative utility to traylaunch?
I realy hate the way you add the shortcuts... you have to write the entire path by hand takes forever to add a few shortcuts...
I cant even copy paste the shortcut path from a file browser like resco explorer or whatever...
Thanks!

I just intall today the SkMenu. allthough it take some time to setup it is great software. It is so fare the best that I have seen. have look on it
Vijay555 done an application like PHM Traylaunch called VJ TrayLaunch.
You have to type the full link path into this application too, but I don't know if it might support copy/paste !
Might be worth trying it, you might prefer it or you might not
Only one way to find out.
http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJTrayLaunch
Use the Keyboard
Copy and past with CTR V and CTR C. That works fine.
Thanks!!!
Thank you very much for all you assistence!!
i will decide which one will i use at the end!
The copy paste function doesnt work for me! i have a Qtek s200! What version of phm traylaunch are you using, mach2005?
Thank you very much!!

Cannot execute\Windows\MortPlayer\MPNotify.exe - Please help remove!

This is the lovely message that I get anytime i bring my 8525 back from standby. I cannot find anything remaining from MortPlayer in my registry (using resco). I think the install of MortPlayer got messed up and I deleted the .zip file that was on my storage card.
I am running SPB Mobile Shell, Pocket Plus, SPB Weather & SPB TIme.
Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this horrible message please? Thank you.

1, welcome to XDA-Dev
2, please follow my articles / tutorials. I've often tackled this problem; see for example http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=36471 (this tutorial is for pre-WM5 devices and can't be used with WM5+ any more). You'll want to get and install SKTools ( http://s-k-tools.com/index.html?sktools/m_feat.html ) to fix this problem.
Or you just have a *.lnk file (shortcut on mobile devices) pointing to Mort's app in your windows\startup or windows\programs folder on your device. You could check them easily from total commander and delete the one left behind. The file contains the path mentioned by you in the thread title.
Rain- thanks for the advice. I am unable to find any .lnk file that points to anything "mort related."
I just downloaded SKtools suggested by Menneisyys and will see if that helps me out. I'll post a follow-up too.

\Windows\Startup is ONLY executed when the device is reset, not when it's powered up (resumed). Please see my Safe Mode Bible; in there, I've also explained how the booting process and the resuming process works.
I DLed SKtools and did cleaning and optimizing. It unfortunately did not fix my problem. Reinstalling Mortplayer seems to have fixed the problem though!
My mistake read the post in a hurry. SKTools or any other software that is able to list events and notifications on the device should do the job. Or maybe there is a service that wants to run MPNotify at wake up event. You should contact Mort in this matter. He surely can make some light on it.
Bests,
Raul

Only the non-shareware version will see more than six entries in the notification list - this is why the trial version was unable to fix this issue.

word suggestion FIXED.. perm solution!

so encase anyone else is like me and HATES word suggestion in wm6 i am going to post how to disable it for good (yes u can re-enable it) some roms already have this fix put in.. for example core 2.0 and 2.0n do but xm6.0 doesn't and being that i run xm6.0 along with alot of other people i figured id post this so they can benefit from it too!
now i know your already thinking this has been covered and there is a cab called wsuggfix.cab and yes thats true, however that cab doesnt cover both entries it only covers the one! now i take zero credit for this because it was already done here.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291785&highlight=word+suggestion+fix+cab all i did was follow the 2nd post and export the .reg file so that you can import it.
what you have to do is download the attached .zip file it includes 2 files.. wsuggfix.cab and 20070611.reg (which is a export of the 2nd reg key to fix the word suggestion) install the cab file.. wait a few seconds.. go into start > settings > input > word completion and make sure its turned off.. once it is then you can import the .reg file.. wait about 20 seconds and soft reset your device!
maybe someone can pack the cab and the .reg file into 1 single cab file? that would be great! i dont know how to do it sorry!
any questions/comments just ask
have a nice day!
thanks jacob...that was driving me insane!
I opened the cab file and Imported the reg key.... Don't know if it will work or not but thought I would give it a try... Let me know if it works!!

Thanks
sms
i apply the fix and registry files and all worked as expected but i want to enable the word suggestion when i type a name in the "to" field of the text messages.
how can i do it?
thankss!
Yep - how can word suggestion be re-enabled again? I'd like to know this one too.
You're a GOD
This is great... finally a miracle
no more word suggestions.. they were always wrong.. so who need them
Re-Enable Word Suggestion
Anyone have a cab to Re-Enable Word Suggestion?
Possible solution
After you install the .cab and apply the registry fix, uninstall the cab. This work for me.
Cannot Uninstall Cab
Unfortunately I have no cab to uninstall as this was part of the cooked WM6 ROM I have loaded. Is there a way to disable it from running in the registry?
Play Time - Registry Settings - Works

Shortcut to New SMS in WM6

Hi,
This forum helped me to decide on getting an O2 Orbit 2, so thanks for that..
I have searched for this but haven;t found a solution but forgive me if I am repeating a thread.
I am trying to find a way to add a shortcut to the Today screen that directly opens up a new SMS. At the moment I have to go to messaging>SMS>Menu>New>SMS, which seems very convulted, having come from a standard phone.
Is there any way to do this at all?

Try these. I'm not sure about a today plugin. But these cab's create a shortcut for you in \Windows called New SMS.lnk. You could always copy them to your start menu and uninstall the CAB if you dont want to lose a softkey.

Thanks. Tried them both and the left one just changed the name of the soft key but still pointed to the calendar and the right one changed it to got the route of the SMS directory not to a new SMS message. I uninstalled them but the right one still stays the same
Any way of getting it back to the contacts?

Just un-install the CAB.
It might depend on the messaging software.
The shortcut should point to "\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "SMS"

I did unistall the CAB and it didn't do anything, just removed itself from the Remove Programs bit. The shortcut is no longer there either, so I cannot check it.
Having looked at your CAB file presumably all I need to change it to calendar is find a registry editor and change the settings your CAB made back to "Calendar" and the correct shortcut?

There is a "Softkey changer" app, or a program by schaps called "Advanced Config" both of those will save on the Reg hacking.

The Solution.....
Install the attachment...
You can place a shortcut to "NEW SMS" on your left or right softkey....
PS: Next time search or follow the link on my sign....
Sorted
Hi Guys,
Thanks to both of you for your quick replies and help. I have created a working New SMS on my today screen using the last app and the o2 shortcuts program that comes with the mobile.
Knew this was the right place to come!
PS: I did search and nothing useful came up...
PPS: I also couldn't have read your link on the sign as it is posted in the area that says to not post unless you are a developer or hardcore tecchie. I am neither and so didn't go there. Thanks for the help though.
Over a year later and the information in this thread has proved invaluable for me. Thanks.
The correct solution to directly compose a new SMS with a shortcut is the following:
tmail.exe -transport "SMS" -to ""
Works great on my Tilt2. However, I do think I used the syntax above posted by DaveShaw with a prior WinMo device and it worked. However, it does not work on my Tilt2.
You can also get a lot more complicated such as:
Creating new MMS with given recipients, subject, body and attachment:
tmail.exe -transport "MMS" -to "8005551212" -cc "8001234567" -bcc "[email protected]" -subject "simple subject" -body "simple MMS body" -attach "/My Documents/test.jpg"
Anyone know how to turn these into executables since my today launcher only accepts exe's?
If You haven't got a reply to that yet... You can make a simple mortscript (like runmms.mscr) with Run (tmail.exe etc...) and then have the mortsript dummy.exe renamed to the same runmms.exe which, when executed, results in the desired action.

Soft Key changes

Hi all,
I previously had a Hermes where there was a little tool to change the soft-keys at the coners of the screen to to applications of your choice.
Either I did not look to find the tool in the Raphael or it does not exist in the HTC standard ROM. Is there any tool to use for changein the soft-keys?
Thanks for support.
Best Regards
Rolf

put this fil in ur windows folder and voila...
in settings u can change the softkeys
Thanks, it works as expected until TouchFlo ist started . When TouchFlo is running, the keys automatically swich to left: Telephone, right: programms. I dont find a way to change that. Any suggestions?
Best Regards
Rolf
This is what I, found it in the diamond forum.
just change hklm\software\htc\manila its not hard. homelsk options for the left softkey and homersk for the right. path and text.
Hi Jack,
thanks, the solution works , even with touch-flo. I could put the calendar as soft key. Do You know the name of the file where the contats are stored?
Best Regards
Rolf
dont trust me too hard on this im doing it from memory, but... set your path to "\Windows\poutlook.exe" and your argument to "contacts". without quotes on both of course.
Hi Jack,
thanks, I will try this tomorrow, today I forgot my mobile in the office :-(.
Result: I tried it and nothing happened, no contacts shoowing up or any error-msg. So it should be an other file I guess. Do you have any idea?
Best regards
Rolf
i was wondering why that wouldnt work and i tried it on mine and it does. you can check your spelling for any typos or whatever but it should work. no quotes, no caps on contacts, \'s not /'s. hope you can get it working.
If you install the cab i posted you dont need to edit the registry, just select the app you want the link on the soft key to be and click save.
alot of people like to do it themselvs or dont like extra apps. ill check it out and see what it does later.
Hi,
so I tried again the manila cab that was postet above. Well, it works fine, I just cannot find the "contacts" in there which I like to set as left soft-key. The "calendar" setting works fine either as direct setting in the HKLM or using the cab.
I also tried again to start the poutlook.exe directly out of the file-explorer and in contrast to the start of the calendar, nothing happened. So it must be any other file to start ???
Also I tried to link the "kontakte" (a small link-file) directly in HKLM, but got an error-msg telling me that the file does not have the required security-attributes or whatsoever.
I will keep on searching but happy for any adviece.
Berst Regards
Rolf
