How do I sync MANUALLY. I want to take a file from a PC to my XDA.
However, an XDA II is set up on the same PC and I want to only use this temporarily.
How can I copy just one file across without ruining the other person's synchronised files?
Thanks.
just connect as guest and then copy the file over in File explorer on the PC
Mobile device just be listed there as a "hard drive"
How do I connect as a guest?
Also, when I try to connect, I get the "Connecting" box which doesn't actually connect (see attached picture).
it should give you a popup asking if you want to make a patnership or
connect as guest
if it's windows 9X or ME it could act up though
and make sure you are using the latest version of activesync

Hi all,
I want to have my PC and PPC automatically sync with each other and update each other when connected.
So whatever changes I make on the PPC, it will automatically sync and save onto the PC copy. And whatever I do on that copy, when I sync the two together, it will automatically update to the PPC.
This way, I can always continue where I left off from regardless where I'm at.

You should use ActiveSync 4.5 from Microsoft. It is built specifically for your need.
Well, I know it will back up my files from my PDA to my computer and everytime I connect it, it'll backup any changes on the PDA to my computer, but can it work the other way around?
When I connect them together and I've made no changes on the PDA, but changes on the computer, will it transfer from computer to PDA?
So, say I made a few changes on some files on the PDA, and some changes on the computer on something else. Will it know to back up the changes on the PDA to the computer and the changes on the computer to the PDA correctly?
If this is the case, then when I select to back up 'files' on ActiveSync, does it back up my .xml files also?
Live Mesh will do this for you (MS Site) but unfortunately the mobile client hasn't yet been launched.
It's still in tech preview with a beta due soon(-ish). I've been using it for a couple of months now to keep my laptop and desktop in sync. I can't wait to be able to add my Vario II to the Mesh and give me totally syncronicity between important document, whereever and however I work on them.
This is just the start of Mesh as a platform. So many posibilities!

Hello,
i was trying to copy certain files from my laptop to phone via bluetooth but could just not get it all working. I have BT turned on (both devices), they manage to connect via rather cumbersome set of dialogues (on laptop) but then I can only explore "services" on the device, whatever that is....
How do I send a file from lets say laptop desktop to the phone? And where can I locate it on the phone?
Thank you !
If you can explore services try looking for Bluetooth file transer service. It should open up the bluetooth shared folder which is common to both your phone and the computer. Drag and drop items from your phone or computer onto this folder and you should see them on either device. Default location of the bluetooth shared folder on your phone should be under my documents.
Thank you, will try that tomorrow back at the office
If you are using Vista, turning user account control off might help.
Mine is working now.
I gave up trying, too. Never have had any success with HTC phones, but SE phones always worked. Go figure.
Instead, I have networked/mapped my desired drives (with Resco File Explorer) of my laptop and desktop systems with the Fuze and and transfer files via WiFi that way. Works great and is fast.
Have you tried checking the box "receive all incoming beams"? It is located under settings and then the connections tab. Once there click on the Beam icon and make sure that box is checked. I couldn't send any files form my laptop to my phone until that was checked off.
how can i sync and transfer to and fro my tp2 and mac book pro?
thanks guys
If you have snow leopard, its supposed to have activesync.
If you're still on an older OS, there is a ($40) program called missing sync.
What I did is went the totally free route and bounced contacts through google. First enable addressbook to sync to google, then have phone sync to google. I've only tried it with contacts, its supposed to be able to do email and calendar from google to phone as well.
OBEX push also works from my hackintosh to the phone, but not in reverse for files.
The sync app in sl doesn't work. Already tried. Nothing on mac works. I want to transfer files etc from tp2 to mac and nothing works.
Did you try the file transfer setting in the Bluetooth settings?
On the phone? I probably did but right now not sure exactly what you mean. Sorry.
Go to Bluetooth settings, expand on Advanced (+ arrow), click on File Transfer, choose a location to receive files. Set your phone to discoverable.
On Mac, click on Bluetooth icon in menu bar (usually top right), click on Browse Device, choose your phone from list, click ok.
On phone you'll be prompted to pair with Mac and enter a 4 digit passcode of your choice, do that. Mac will prompt for same passcode, enter same 4 digit passcode. Accept all communications from Mac on phone.
Now, on Mac, the Bluetooth File Exchange utility will display the contents of whatever folder (or memory card) you chose as your save folder. Drag and drop files to it or from it and that's it.
I might update later with screenshots when i have time.
I already paired and entered the code thingy. But did not know anything about a utility in the mac blue tooth menu. I only tried the transfer on phone and nothing happened on mac or the phone could not see mac to transfer. The active sync or whatever it is on the mac sees the phone but says it can't sync with it. So I'll look in the bluetooth menu. F it works this is cool.
How fast would it transfer music from my MacBook pro to the phone?
Thanks alot for telling me about the utility in the Bluetooth menu on mac.
While I don't own a Mac, I know my brother in law has had success with bluetooth for transfering files between my Vogue and his mac as well as the use of it for a personal area network.
Have you tried using the use as drive option when you connect it by usb? this (I would think as it just acts as a uSB key) should work as long as you have a memory card in your phone. It won't "sync" though.

Co0kie's Home Tab v1.7.1
To My Phone...I Connect The Phone And Am Lost From There So Please Go Into Detail =(
I do not think you can connect a windows phone to a Mac computer. They are not compatible.
What you can do instead is -
1.download the cookiehometab.cab file on your computer,
2.then send yourself an email that is linked to your phone and attach the .cab file.
3.dowload the attachment on your phone and then run it to install it.
That should be all you have to do.
re
You can download the apps to your computer, they will just be unrecognizable. Transfer them to your SD card through USB or Bluetooth, and then search it on your phone. This worked well for me. Quicker then DL them strait from your phone!
theres a software called "missing sync" for mac's. try searching for a torrent or unless you want to buy the program. but it works better than activesync in my opinion.
Moved as not software release.
I'm using a macbook to connect to my hd2 most of the time. No problems connecting at all.
Connect USB cable and connect as disk drive on HD2, Macbook sees hd2 sd card as disk drive. Just access the drive on your mac and transfer the file(s) to hd2 storage card.
Or, if you have set up a bluetooth connection between the mac and the hd2, use the mac's "sent file" option in the bluetooth menu.
After you get the file to your HD2 you can use the original installation instructions again.
The syncmate program works great for syncing your contacts etc. But had some trouble getting it to work through bluetooth. I use the USB for that. But than the phone has to be set to active sync mode.
(love my macbook pro, but hated the iphone hype and the restrictions hence the HD2)
Hi, I have been struggling for days, to try to get internet on my Smartphone via Bluetooth on my Desktop PC, is Data is massivly Expensive in this country. Whenever I go to Connetions > add new connection for Bluetooth, and I add a new Device, I see my Desktop PC there. However when I see the services, all I see is Activesync, I select that, push save, and it just goes back to add a new device again. I also tried, to connect via the Bluetooth PAN Device, on my PC, and I choose connect using access point, it gives me an error. "The connection with the Bluetooth Device failed. The device may be already connected to another computer, or it may be need to be configured to accept connections from this computer. Consult your device documentation for further information.
Please can someone help me?
