Disabling images in pocket internet explorer - General Topics

Does anyone know if this is possible? Id like to save bandwidth by not downloading images.

From Internet Explorer, tap View and uncheck the Show Images menu option.

Opera Mobile 10 Thumbnail on Manila

With Opera Mobile 9 will automatically cravate favorite images after viewing the page you want.
You can simulate something with Opera Mobile 10, since it is not supported?
You can manually add thumbnails to bookmarks on the internet page (I can't remember where they're stored - someone will be able to advise you), but it's a pain, and you can't add new shortcuts to bookmarks that you've made in Opera 10 - only 9.7 and IE.
I personally got rid of the internet tab and just put Opera in the top row of my main page of quicklinks, so it's available from my home tab. Since it starts up with the "start grid" (unless configured otherwise), it's equally as good as the shortcuts on the opera tab.
Just a suggestion.

Is there a way to fix the web snapshot for the Internet thumbnail section if you remove one from the windows/temp folder by mistake. Because now it won't take a thumbnail web snapshot if I add to visual bookmarks

Same here but i think you mean windows/thumbnail folder
I deleted the one i had for BBC Football as i didnt like they image and now i cannot get an image to display for that favourite.......is there a register entry or something i need to clear to restore thing?
i think i might have found a way...place your favourite in internet tab, then, in order to have thumbnails, open pocket internet explorer, go to favorites and open web pages (the one placed on internet tab) and let them full load. if you close pie at this point you can see thumbnails in internet tab, tap on them and they will be opened with setted default browser, opera 10 in this case

I think I figured it out about this bookmark thing. I have notice in opera 9.7 that the little symbol next to web address that looks like a box with lines in it is all mess up. Now I don't know what that symbol represents but I think by fixing this it will fix the problem.

[Q] PDFs

On my browser I go to websites to look up scholarly articles in the forms of PDFs. Some times I'm able to tap and download them so that I can view it in various pdf viewers and other times I get directed to a *****in blank page.
I am not asking to view the pdf in the browser. Google isn't helping me neither is the search function. I just want to have the option/ability to download a pdf so that I can either view it then or save it to my dropbox.
browser pdf
Its usually a setting in your browser.
whether or not to download or open file types
Check options in browser.
I've navigated through the settings and have not found anything to pop out at me as a solution.

How to browse files on phone via win 7 explorer

How to browse files on phone via win 7 explorer.
I use wifi router which has my computer connect via lan cable (wired connection) & other computer/laptop & phone connected via wifi.
From the phone using es file explorer I can surf the lan on windows 7 computer but I cant surf the files on phone from win 7 explorer, it does not even show in devices connected (using usb connection it shows) so I assume that something else needs to be switched on or connected, can someone tell me what do I need to do so I can browse phone files via windows explorer?
if you have an sd card in the phone and the drivers installed, you can browse the files on the sd card via usb connection. if you're trying to browse ROOT files (which you forgot to mention), the only way to see root folder files on your computer is to install android commander and follow the instructions. google it, and good luck.
Do you want to browse your phone files through wifi? There are multiple ways:
1) connect to your phone through samba. Install Samba Filesharing and you'll see the phone in your network.
2) connect to your phone through ftp. Install one of the many app in the market, like this or a file manager (many of them allow you to share folders through ftp or even http) and in windows explorer simply type the address shown in the app (ftp://192.XXXXXXX)
3) use airdroid (it will allow you to do also other stuff, like sending sms)
Wao!
I am glad I asked & I am surprised by airdroid, wonderful interface it has loving it now.
Thanks

Both are paid apps whereas airdroid is free & the interface airdroid offers is far better than anything I have seen. With airdroid I can do much more than just file transfer like sending sms.
*Files
Transfer files between Android devices and computers.
Cut, copy, paste, search, rename or delete files on the SD card.
*SMS
Read, send, forward or delete SMS messages.
*Applications
Install, uninstall, backup, search apps and do batch processing.
*Photos
Preview, delete, import, export, set as wallpaper and photos slide show from desktop.
*Clipboard
Share clipboard text between desktop and device.
*Contacts
Group, search, create contacts, check and delete call logs.
*Ringtones
Search, preview, import, export, delete and customize ringtones for phone calls, notifications and alarms.
*Music
Play, search, import, export, delete, or set as phone call, notification and alarm ringtones.

I suggest you use USB Mass Storage If you want to view files on your sd card. If you want to view rooted files on your phone I suggest using android commander.

I have been using myphoneexplorer last 6 years & yes its the best what it does but what actually I was looking for was to use windows explorer to surf the files but have not succeeded in doing that.
Using these software both airdroid & myphoneexplorer File transfer is slow 1.6-1.8Mbps so 1gb file takes almost 10 mins time I thought it could be faster if I use windows explorer but seems its wifi limitation.
I use 54Mbps B/G/N wifi router & have class 6 SD card, when I use usb connection the file download is much faster within 2-3 mins for 1gb data.
Transfer files wirelessly is always slower.
Note that the speed you see when you download a file through airdroid (or anything else) is usually expressed in MBps and not Mbps, they are different things. Your router support a max speed of 56Mbps which is equal to 7MB/s. That said, 2MB/s is not that bad, you also have to consider that it's hard to achieve the max speed, you need to be near the router.
For huge USB is the best.
(For file transfers I think that the others two method are better, airdroid is not so confortable.)
Ok I will try the two methods & see if the speed can be faster, if no speed gain then I stick to myphoneexplorer only as it has everything minus the user interface of airdroid.
BTW I have the router right beside me 3 feet away.

[APP][2.1+] Share your files by WiFi (Ad-hoc tethering)

This little application let you share your files, then recipient can view or download those via web browser.
Features:
Support upload files to phone.
Using HTTP protocol, recipient only need a web browser to send or receive files, and do not need additional software.
Using WiFi networks, support Ad-hoc tethering.
As a complement of common forms of file transmission such as USB, FTP, Bluetooth or manual copying, this program is handy to use when you are at outdoor or temporary office space and want to transfer files between the other phone, tablet or computer.
Additional support for the system clipboard and text messages to share.
Notes:
The receiving device need to be on the same local area network with your phone, or connected your phone with adhoc.
This is NOT a file management application, it can not choose which file to share, you need use other software (e.g. File Manager, Gallery, Media Player, etc) in the "Send to" or "sharing" feature to invoke this program. If this program is started directly, it will only receive files and share nothing.
Since we do not using permissions which can access private data, so do not support share private informations such as contacts or e-mails.
To make things simple and safe, there are no background long run service, file sharing will be stopped when you leave the main window of the application.

Prevent WhatsApp from automatically saving photos and other media

Hello guys, I switched from IOS to android and I do not regret my decision ... Except: I don't like it, that on android version of whatsapp every incoming photo is saved automatically.
Before you answer me please consider the following: I know that I can deactivate auto-media-download in the whatsapp settings but that is jot what I search. I also know the .nomedia solution, which also fits not my expectations. I just want a IoS-like method with which you can look at the photos and then safe them manually if you want to.
I have a huawei p9 lite device, which is rooted and has xposed framework installed. Thanks a lot for your help.
1. Open the app and go to the main chats screen. From here click on the three vertical dots and then open settings.
2. Now that you're in the settings menu, you need to open Chat Settings and then select the Media auto-download option.
3. From here is you will be presented with three further options to let you decide if you want to download content when you're just using mobile data, connected to a Wi-Fi network or when Roaming. You now need to open and deselect the Image, Audio and Video check boxes from each Mobile Data, Wi-Fi and Roaming options.
That's it. You will be asked whether you want to save a Whatsapp photo, audio or video file to your Android device.
Hope it help
No thats not what I search. On ios you can see the photo and then decide if you want to save it or not. But still you can see the photo. With your method I cant see whats on the photos. On ios you can see whats on the photos without saving them...
