How can I get my PPC to subscribe ONLY to the Inbox, Sent, and Trash folders? It seems to want to check ALL folders on the IMAP server which takes a LONG time over GPRS and makes it a pianful experience! I can't mess with the IMAP server, so any solution would have to exclude changing settings on the IMAP server. Is there a 3rd party app. that fixes this?

ki - you have swamped the board with SIX postings the same about another subject - one in every forum, and now THREE postings the same about this.
It rather tends to peeeess people off doing that, and not engende a reply.
Listen - decide waht it is you are asking about, and post a message in the relevant forum.
OK.
My apologies. I am new to this and looking at the various forums, my query seemed to fit the ones I sent to. I've had posts that clearly belonged to a specific forum and posted only there. This time, my query regarding IMAP folder subscription is quite specific and seems to be either an unsolved problem or a hard to solve one, but I was not sure where it belonged (perhaps I should have asked first). Given that some people who may potentially know the answer may not frequent some of the forums, I decided to cross post. If this is a settings problem that I may have missed, then either "General" or "Using it" seem suitable forums. If this requires software hacking such as a registry hack, then "Hacking it" is the place. If there is a ROM upgrade, or cooked extended ROM that fixes this, then "Upgrading and Modifying it" is the right place.
If this upsets people, I will refrain from this from now on. Please note that I search for answers in this forum and other sources before posting. I post only when I am stumped and have given up. So, having said all of this, where does the IMAP folder post best belong?

what does "Watch this topic for replies" do on this website (which can be found at the bottom of a post)? i thought it makes a list somewhere in my login account or somehow alerts me so i can more easily trace the ones i'm interested in piled up in those millions and millions of posts. can somebody pls explain, thanks?
No it doesn't make a list somewhere but send you a mail when a new message is posted in a thread.
well, that's strange then, cos i've never received any notifications by email when there's a new reply (whether it's my own topics or ones i want to watch). i've just re-checked my "profile" and my email addrs is correct, and that all the notifications were "yes" (as attached). and every time i post, "Notify me when a reply is posted" is also ticked. is there another setting somewhere?
That's odd. I usually get duplicate notification (2 messages per update) but only for the last topic I posted to. I don't think they save a list, just one topic per user.
Works ok for me
I watch about 15 topics & receive an email after each post. Although it would be nice to see all sucscribed topics in a list.
so wot am i doing wrong?? can anyone see anything suspicious in my profile settings?
Your profile settings look ok. Does your email account have some kind of spam filter? It is possible that the messages get blocked for some reason by the mail server. You should try a different email (there are plenty of free ones out there)
oh my gosh... I changed from a hotmail to another email addrs...and it's working, thanks a million. It must have been the hotmail spam filter.
Hello all,
Is there a way to automatically download pictures in html-mail? Now my device says: "To protect your privacy, pictures from the Internet are not automatically downloaded." Very annoying ...
I have a HTC P3300 with windows mobile 6 (Meschle's ROM)
Thanks
Automatic pic download?????
I was thinking the same thing....Im trying to find out now
...this has got to be THE most annoying thing EVER...
I've been looking for a solution to this one too...
I want my html email to be ACTUAL html WITH pictures by default...whats the point of blocking the pictures? You might as wel just use text email instead...!
PLEASE post the solution to this if you find it...
afaik if you get a spam mail with images, and these are downloaded, they recognize it and then you will get TONS of spam.
so the first spam mail is just a test for that e-mail address.

This I understand. But with respect, that still has nothing to do with wanting the option of turning the images on or off of my own volition.
Not to mention in MY case, I have rules set up that move email from my contact address book to a folder called "sync" - and thats the only folder that I am syncing to my mobile. were talking friends and business clients...NOT anything else...so in my case, that rule fails...what...3x a year...if that.
Again, anyone know how to turn OFF the automatic picture blocking of html email on wm6?
Drat! Had hoped I'd find a solution to this problem, but it looks like I'll have to keep searching, like everyone else? Doesn't make sense that there wouldn't be an options setting or registry flag to control this behavior since it is so annoying to some of us...
anyone ever find a way to do this? I see lots of threads about it but no answers.
There is still No Answer on this Forum or any other that I have found. I moved to Qmail and Am very happy, of Course it has its own challenges.
I'm also looking for a solution to this.
so Bumpety Bump Bump!!!
Some solution please ....
I've been looking around for some type of software (since WM5 and WM6 don't seem to have the ability built in) that will let me know when I've gotten an email in a folder other than my inbox.
All of the people in my office have separate folders, and all of their email is sorted into their respective boxes automatically in a server-side rule. I'd always have to manually check those folders in windows mobile (I've got an 8125 running XDA Mobile 6 r4) every time I looked at my phone.
While searching around I found a software package called watchflag (www.watchflag.com or m.watchflag.com for the direct download). It didn't have this option at first, but I asked their support about it and they actually wrote it into the code! It'll play different notifications depending on who it's from or what the subject line is, and it checks all folders, including subfolders (just be sure to follow all of their directions!). So if you've been looking for something to alert you on new email in subfolders (the boss [or the wife] emailing you and you have a separate folder for them), this software will work great.
Just wanted to spread the word as I looked high and low and haven't found anything else that does this out there!
thanks for the post, nice ap. probably shouldnt put your email in plain site like that[username]
I've been waiting a long time for this! Thanks!
Looks interesting. I'm looking for something subtley different - I use FlexMail to access a private IMAP account and I'd love to find something which hooks the standard notification process, so, for instance, my HTC Home new mail count will increment for mail received in Flexmail/IMAP. (At the moment I have Outlook mirroring the IMAP account and checking for mail every 5 minutes to flag new arrivals, but that's wasteful of resources...)
Does anyone know of something that allows you to hook the standard notification procedures for custom events?
I hate that most of my emails are general 2 paragraph emails, and I can read the whole email in the preview, yet I have to load outlook for it to say I already read it.
There needs to be an icon or a menu option to mark a previewed email as read right from the Touch Flow interface, that way you don't have to open outlook at all.
I searched on this site and found no answers, just other threads with the same questions: (Edit: Won't let me post links )
showthread.php?t=581344
showthread.php?t=584573
So there is definitely a demand for this, hopefully another thread will spark interest in someone developing it or a little known about cab.
Moved as not software release.

I think i have a bot on my cellphone. Earlier today I was looking for an email that had room reservation information from the silver legacy hotel. I have my exchange email linked to my phone so i used the search function in the email app to search for the word silver. The reservation was in the results list. But there where also bunch of outgoing emails that i never sent. The emails looked like spam, i opened one but didn't click on the link. The email had been sent to me from me according to the email, but these emails don't show up in my inbox or sent mail folder. These emails don't show up on any of my computers that have the my exchange email account synced to them. I think there is some sort bot running on my phone. I tried searching using google and the xda forum search function but i couldnt find anything to help me. Is there anyway to remove the bot with out resetting my phone? I've never heard of this happening, but i figured it would only be a matter time before someone figured out how to get bots on cellphones.
Hi there, XDA Assist is mainly for navigational guidance within XDA. Your question is more general and would be appropriate in the General Q&A section. I have asked a moderator to move it for you. Good luck!
I would say they are in your spam folder, a lot of spam email spoofs the sender as the receiver email to get the person to open it. Check your spam folder and I bet they are in there.
I checked the spam folder, the emails weren't there.
