by smartphone do you mean a pocketpc phone edition
or a smartphone ?
if you mean a pocketpc then you use it in a consol / dos prompt or what you like to call it
smartphone exactly...
without claiming to know much in the way of smartphones then
i do know they use a whole other arc and cpu then pocketpc's
so asuming that tools which are used to access ther regs and such on a pocketpc would work on other platforms

Cant say I have ever heard of any, also searched the web but can find nothing like it either.
ive tried installing dos v6.22 on my xda but it doesnt want to run the dos program of it either says its a win32 file
shame no one cant convert it to ppc would come in use quite abit.

exe files / programs are binary files == files compiled DIRECTLY! for the cpu
since pc's and pocketpc's cpu's are no compatible pc programs dont! run on pocketpc's
ofcause an x86 emulator could be made but it's hard to do if it needs to be 100% compatible
and even then i'm sure there will be many limitations
with .net exe files it can be don if the pc compiled .net exe dont use any controlls absent in .net compact framework

I am new at this board but I hope that you can give me an answer to my problem. I´d like to run "Max Tilbergs A Viking Saga" (For those who´ve never heard about it: It´s a game for PPc )
The Installation is no problem but when i try to start it there came a window and say that it is important to install the "emBedded Visual Basic Runtime" for this prog. So i googled for this but i found only a version for windows 2003 of this programm. I tried to install this version - nothing changed.
Maybe someone could help me with this little problem .

the file from typhur worked for me (but not on storage card). "A Viking Saga" works now

embedded vb 3 was the last vb without being vb.net which don't use vb runtimes
but old 2003 vb runtimes should work ok under later devices

I have become a owner of a new htc touch 2 with windows mobile 6.5
a frend of mine has htc hd phone and also win 6.5 but he can use programs like command prompt, regedit, creating grups of contacts, I can't do eny of them how come ?
do I have to instal something to be able to use regedit etc... ?

You need the right cab files for these programms.....they circulate here....but no reason why you can not what your friend can....
but regedit and command prompt are a part of the windows ? why would I need to explicity install it
Ah ok, understand to edit your registry you need a program like attached.....
but be careful.....any mistake can screw up your device.....and soft reset after making a chance.....

Windows Mobile 6.5 is based on Windows Compact Embedded Edition, WindowsCE for short, We're not dealing with windows 7, or vista, or even XP, but what is essentially a very stripped down OS thats closer "related" to Windows 95. (anyone wanting to knit pick the previous statement, please note the inverted comma's. I know some people are very pedantic)
While Win95 had both said features, I just wanted to explain how limited 6.5 is, these are tools that WILL run on 6.5 but are not included.
Is there any explanation to how use it?

The one Hakim Rahman posted is for the PC, not the smartphone.
Why do you want the "PPC" be simulated on the smartphone?
The smartphone is basically a stripped down version of the PPC (leaving out the touchscreen and some other things). To run PPC software on the smartphone you usually need a cursor/pointer/mouse emulator to be able to push the on-screen bottons. Also mind that the PPC had different HW platforms, while for smartphone only the ARM CPU is supported.
