ring tones - General Topics

hi ppl
now that almost the whole departement here has mda2s, it's really annoying because everyone seems to use the same ringtone
so i did search the net for different telefone rings ... but was not too lucky. maybe someone has some ring tones for me ... i'd like to have a REAL phone ring tone - no fancy star trek sound or something like that. just some different ring-ring
looking really forward to some help...
thanks in advance

just about every wav file and wma you can think of can be used
here are some
http://www.yorch.net/ringtones.htm
you can also record your own ring tones if you like
it's just sampled sound

hmmm that was a good start
but the problem is, that almost all "real" phone rings are the same as integrated in my MDA. so nothing really new.
i know that i could just record my own phone and use that wav file. but then i can't tell between the ring of my mobile and my normal phone at home, when one of them is ringing.
that's why i was hoping for anyone else who already recorded his phone at home (or work) which surely would sound different from those i have here around me.
thanks ...

well i think that you can use mid (polyphonic ring tones) aswell like the normal cellphones if you can find a site with ring tones for normal cellphones you got a big pile of them

Losing SMS & Email Alert Tones

Hi All, I've noticed that a few times my TC has stopped playing alerts for SMS & Emails. I've gone into the "alerts & notifications" page, and when I select the SMS or Email drop down and hit the play button, it still doesn't work. (Standard phone call ringer still works though)
As soon as I change the choice of alert, and back again, it starts working again.
Any idea what's causing it to stop, or maybe hang? I've tried using different tones, but it's still the same; works for a while and then doesn't.
try after changing u,r sound profile.
FWIW, I had the same problem with my Touch/Elf when using an MP3 for alerts. Sounds like a little software bug to me.
jefmcg, I've tried changing the MP3s to WAV but it still happens.
Alipi, you seem to be right, it happens after I've change to silent and back again. It doesn't seem to put the email and SMS tone back to normal volume.
Does anyone else have this issue?
I'm using the O2 profiles app to change profiles, as the HTC home one doesn't allow you to put any additional ones on. I like to have a "sleep" profile, which doesn't beep for SMS or email, but does ring the phone.
Open to any suggestions or workarounds!

Hi,
I have the same problem. But until today I though I´m alone . And I haven´t investigate that it arises after I switched form silent to "normal". Have to look into this as well...
Sorry, but I haven´t got any workaround, maybe someone else...
Pobably dont belong in this thread but i have the exact same issue/problem with my Tmo Wing, everytime i change the sms tone (incoming text) it works fine for the first 5 or so text but after that just goes silent when receiving new ones...a fix or advice would really be appreciated...i have no clue
UPDATE!
Ok, so I'm an idiot!
I thought I had deleted the mp3 versions of my ringtones and replaced them with wav files, but I hadn't. I've since done it, and whilst they do sound slightly different (crap converter?), it SEEMS to have fixed the problem....
...at least I've tried to move in and out of silent a few times, and the tones still sound!
So, guys, perhaps try converting them to WAV and go from there. FYI, my tones sit in the windows folder.

No - for some strange reason, ring tones need to be in \WINDOWS\RINGS, but SMS and other notification tones need to be in \WINDOWS.
Yet Another Update!
OK, so converting to WAV, only worked for a while, it did eventually stop beeping for texts and emails.
HOWEVER... philip gave me a great recommendation of PocketZenPhone, which is much more powerful at managing profiles, and especially on the text and email alerts, ACTUALLY WORKS!

UK ringback tone as ringtone

I'm interested in having as my ringtone a UK telephone ringback tone. the ring i want is the ringing one would here while on a UK house phone after having dialed and waiting for the other side to answer. the sound was made famous in the closing seconds of pink floyd's "young lust" song. i can mp3-trim from that track but i'm not an expert enough to separate out the ringing from the music and speaking. there are two instances of the UK double ring that could be isolated if anyone on the forums is an expert.
is this ringtone available anywhere or can someone make it?
thanks in advance.

Certain sounds dont work for notifications??

hey guys well i just got the fuze and i absolutely love the phone, but one thing im coming across is i set the notifications for my text messages
sound: Communique_Perfect Weapon
Flashing Light: No Limit
Vibrate: On
for some odd reason i would not get any notifications, only the ring would light up but no sound or vibrate, but when i soft reset it it would work only ONCE and then rest of the time the same ol thing, when i change the sound to Alarm4 or any other sounds that are from the WM6.1 itll notify me fully, can it be because of the sound file?? or is it something else? plz tell me if theres a fix for it, thnx
UPDATE: nvm i seem to find my way around it

Cooked ROMs and Ring Tones

Let me just say I really appreciate the work that a lot of you are putting into custom ROMs. I've been playing with a few on my Fuze, found some I liked, some I didn't, some work well, others not so well. One thing I notice though, in all that I have run, basic ring tones have been eliminated (from the ones that I have tried
So, does any body have some basic rings, some that are particularly loud maybe. Problem is, I am half deaf and heavy sleeper, and have to use my phone for on-call. I use the ones that are called like "classic ring" or "old ring" Just basic anoying rings. The musical ones never seem to wake me or are particularly as loud as basic rings.
Thanks!!
No-one else? Oh well, Here you go then...
Cool Thanks, that's a good one. Anymore...
Nah sorry that's all i got...

[Q] Setting for non-repeating ringtones?

Hi @all,
long ago in times where Nokia was the leading company which sold the most phones their phones had a setting for a single tone notification for an incoming call. My latest phone (ulefone metal with Android N) has a weak vibration, so i'm missing calls from time to time. But i don't want to have a long running, loud ringtone, because when i'm not at my desk, but my phone is still there, i don't want that my colleagues will be disturbed by a ringtone which runs a minute or so.
I found an audiofile with a single beep, which i can use as ringtone, but this beep will always repeated as long as the caller doesn't give up. This is even more annoying than a standard ringtone. So now my question is: How can i set up the phone that this audiofile is played only once and not repeatedly? This works for notifications, but not for calls. I'm searching for such a functionality in modern phones all the time since the Nokia-times, but didn't find it. Anybody out there knows such a setting for android phones?
As a workaround i could create an audiofile with a single beep and 5 minutes of silence, but this is stupid
Thanks, jennix
