Hi All,
It seems that Nokia and XDA do not support each other's picture format. I cant recieve pictures taken using Nokia phones using my XDAII. Is there any patch or workarounds available to address this incompatibility?
Thanx!
Do you mean when sending as MMS or over IR or BT, Because i can take pictures on a 7650 and send them via MMS, IR, BT and recieve them on the XDA, and i can also take pictures on the XDA and send via MMS, IR, BT to the Nokia 7650

i wish someone developes an application that shows a picture id of the person sending an SMS, they have it for calls, why not SMS?
AND...
WHY CANT THE XDA GET RINGTONES??
now that 2003 support midi, no excuse!
i would like to see Picture SMS ID
AND some sort of ringtone & maybe even LOGO support on xda
Nah
I think it would be a very unpopular software title. What is the point? You recieve an SMS and read the SMS when you actually noticed you recieved it. A phone call is real time. It is much more thoughtful to have it in the way of a phone call. Ask the Caller2Picture creators if they have plans on doing it. I doubt they will.

Hi,
I'm looking for a software for my HTC S730 which enables me to send SMS via my Voip account from the Internet.
I found http://www.smsoip.be/ but it doesn't work on my HTC S730.
Please help me.
Thanks a lot!!!
Anyone???
There must but some software for SMS over Voip for Smartphone.... right??
sms software
do a search on fring, great bit of voip software. good for voip sms, sips, etc, using it on my spv m3100 with sipgates.co.uk sips account
Are you sure fring is also for voipsms? I dont think so...
thanks
please, anyone?? i want voipsms software for WM standard
WTF
cmon ppl!!!!!!!
hoping for the same thing, you would think there should exist a small app, but apparently there isn't...hopefully someone gets inspired and makes one
Humm.. SMS over VoIP? Is it possible? VoIP would need to provide an SMS gateway; which a phone carrier wouldn't...
How about an alternate solution? Email to SMS/SMS to Email gateways, specifically because they exist? If you find a way to send SMS over the telephone system, let me know.
[edit]
I was being to cocky. Looks like Skype provides; but read that wikipedia article anyway.
[edit2]
There are some web sites that will send SMS (that would be, other than the carriers themselves)... I just found CallWave.

yea there are website, but its real annoying to open a browser, type the address in, and then type the message. there are programs that do what we're asking so its not impossible, they're just tailored for the pocketpc (SMSoIP, IPSMS to name a few)
yea thats right... so voipsms is popular. but no app for SP yet!!

ya, it blows my mind too, lol unless there is and ppl aren't sharing
lol i'm guessing its not possible.... i ran into a program called fring which i think does allow you to do this, but just curious if we can do this without a 3rd party app
NO and NO! FRING does not allow you to do SMS via VOIP.
Im just really surprised by the lack of interest in this topic.
Do you people even know what SMS via VOIP means? It means FREE SMS TO ALL COUNTRIES WITH YOUR NUMBER AS SENDER (e.g. with VOIPBUSTER)

someone suggested
gsm.voipbuster.com and download the java software.
any other ideas=??

Hmmm, sounds to me like he wants to spam people rather than sending standard messages - can't think of another reason why you would want to have Excel List prepeared messages. If it wouldn't be meant to send out large amount of SMS, a SMS template would do!
I hate people doing that - here in the US you have to pay even for incoming messages, regardless if it was wanted or not!
Could be he wants to do a blanket "Happy New Year" message to all his friends.
Actually scrub that, you could just do one SMS to already existing contacts very easily so why the need to prepare an Excel sheet.
For remote control etc i use Jeyo Mobile Companion.

Hey !
I am not spamming anything, I want to send personalized SMS to my friends, relatives. etc.
I have to send around 250 SMS on this New Year and has made an excel containing the phone number and the personalized SMS.
Generally in India, people send standard SMS to everybody on such days but I just want to add my personal touch to it !!!
Spamming means to send standard SMS/emails to many recipients, but after reading your reply, it seems that your definition of spamming is very much different !!!
I do have Jeyo mobile, but copy and pasting each number and SMS will be bit difficult.
Hmmm,
I just wonder why you copied / wrote all the messages into an Excel sheet in first place?
As far as I remember, Outlook 2007 somehow supports sending out short messages - it has to be configured once but then it should work just fine.

I had not written all the SMS, just changed the standard SMS according to the person, like his/her name, saluation, etc. Basic text of all the SMS is same.
Excel provides tools like concanate, etc to create SMS with variable fields and that why I used it.
However I can convert that excel file onto .txt file also but the basic requirement remains the same, I want to send particular SMS to particular number only.
Jeyo Mobile Companion
i believe you can send sms messages through the computer using dashwire (www.dashwire.com), but im not sure if you can send multiple at once

is there any software for android which convert the picture in Picture SMS Messages ?
i have used this software on nokia 6630 long time agoi took the photo with the nokia 6630 camera and then the software convert it to Picture SMS Messages and i send to it my friends only with GSM network not with Internet and now i want to know that is there any kind of application is present for android which convert the picture in to Picture SMS Messages
i m not talking about MMS i talking about Picture SMS Messages
How's that not mms?
Try sharing the picture as a message.
Sent from my LG-P920 using XDA App
Picture sms is mms, it uses your phones mobile data allowance to send pictures. A lot of providers allow you x amount free per month. I think O2 give me 12 a month free.
If you get a contract or payg deal that allows picture messaging but don't get a data allowance you can still send picture messages but no there are two types of messages you can send over a phone network. One is text only, the other is multimedia (mms) so there is no extra software needed.
Dave
guys guys i want to say that just make photo with mobile camera and then convert it the black and white picture and send it to other mobiles
here just click on the link and see the picture sms
http://www.cell11.com/picture_sms.html
the picture msg which are in OTA formate
They are still standard sms picture messages, mms. OTA format is a bitmap, a bitmap has to be sent as an mms message.
OTA pictures cannot be complex, or detailed, like a photograph as OTA is a very basic early picture messaging format that used to send pictures by essentially converting images to text then sending the text with a special header and reconverting at the other end to a picture but has been superseded by mms and as a result it never became fully implemented so because it is not a standard and has been superseded you cannot even receive these messages in many countries and after checking the android market to answer this can confirm there are no apps allowing you to send them.
The reason for this is that ota format messages are not meant to be used for messaging anymore and so most carriers in most countries no longer support it and those that do support it only for older phones.

Not from what I have read about it so far. I believe it has the same notification system as the original gear, which means I am just hoping it will give me my work Outlook emails on the watch, which stopped working after the latest update
I was able to recieve pics via MMS, unable to send any at the moment. Share button is shaded out.
As for emails. Still havent been notified through the watch and cant send anything as of today.
Update: (Some) emails come through but only text shows up. Still can't send or forward.
