Advice On FAX SOFTWARE

I own a XDA II (O2 UK) I would like to be able to send or receive faxes, can someone please advise me what I need to do ? Do I need to ring O2 and ask them for a second number or can I use my existing number as fax line and voice.
Second question, which is the best and reliable fax software for XDA II
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
any advice pls
the latest version of Truefax sort of works, I have managed to send a few fax's but its not something to rely on..
truefax doesn't work with the 1.66 rom i think....
Hi Guys,
mY ROM version is
ROM Version 1.60.00WWE
ROM Date: 12/03/03
Radio Version 1.10.00
Protocol Version: 1337.18
ExtROM Version 1.60.50
Which software will work .... i not sure which one to purchase. I would appreciate any advice... once again thanks in advance.
Dear nya2003uk, I got KSE TrueFax 2.06 working perfectly in my imate. I searched for months until I got this version working ok. Others are not!!
You also got to call O2 to activate the fax feature for your account, they might provide you with another mobile number. In our country, we get another mobile/fax number for the fax service.
I advice you not to buy TrueFax 2.06 and make sure it works in your mobile first (as a trial). Note that the new version (Version 3) did not work in my imate. However, it supports Pocket Excel, Pocket Word and RTF files and top of that printing of faxes via infrared or Bluetooth. Currently; I can not print faxes through TrueFax 2.06 from my imate.
Think you can recieve fax's via e mail with e-fax. Not sure if this is any help to you. :?

This is a smart idea, but you still might want to send faxes while you are travelling, or just add your notes with your handwritting to a received fax and re-send it again, I currently do that, it is perfect.
However, do you know any web site, or any software that converts faxes to email?
Hi
Where can I get a version of KSE Truefax compatible with the XDA 2 with windows mobile 1st edition rom?
On the KSE Website I have the following choices:
KSE Truefax v2.02 ( H/PC 2000 )
KSE Truefax v2.05 ( Pocket PC 2002)
KSE Truefax v2.03 ( Pocket PC 2002 Phone Edition ) e.g. MDA I and XDA I
KSE Truefax v2.08 ( Windows Mobile 2003 Phone Edition II ) e.g. T-Mobile MDA II and XDA II
KSE Truefax 2004 v3.01 ( New Windows Mobile 2003 )
NOTE: Please notice that KSE Truefax is NOT running on Pocket PC Phone Edition devices with integrated modem, like XDA I + II, MDA I + II, Qtek, i-mate, etc.

None of the above cater for Windows Mobile 2003 1st edition. I can confirm that v2.08 for 2nd edition doesnt work as it comes up with "no carrier" before it starts to dial out and send a fax. The website warns that the 2002 edition will corrupt a WM2003 phone so I havent tried it. Someone here reports that v2.06 would work but it doesnt seem to be available to download from the website.
Can anyone help?

Yep, I had Version 2.06 working 100% OK with me, and with other 2 friends as well. I did not find it on any web site!! I got it from a friend.
I do not mind to share it as it is the only version works with imate (xda2) with no problems at all. It is registered as well.
I am welling to post the FTP link to download it, let me know.
Yes please, that would be very useful!!! 8) I have tried hard to find a suitable version on the website and many places elsewhere and have not come across that version.

Sure... TrueFax 2.06 is attached. Good luck.
Hi
Cheers for the software. However I seem to get the same problem as before...
Querying modem...
Initializing modem with "AT E0 V1 Q0 M0 S7=60 S10=10 +CLIP=0; +CRC=0; +CMEE=0; +COLP=0; +CBST=7,0,0"...
Dialing "+44 {number} "...
No carrier detected.
Procedure aborted on error.

^ here is the problem
Upgrade your radio to 1.17
Hmm I upgraded my rom recently to the one on http://www.my-xda.com and it does indeed have all the features listed as part of the upgrade. How do I go about getting a newer version without losing all the O2 UK customisation and settings?

You should upgrade only the radio stack. This will keep your old ROM/Extended ROM. Use search.
More ppl who cant get Trufax to work
Well I just got my XDA2 (after I broke my XDA1!!) I would guess it should have all the latest software. (and there are faries at the bottom of the garden as well!)
You mention a radio stack upgrade to version 1.17. I dont see that on O2's website only 1.10- or did I miss something. I get the same 'no carrier'. I also read something about TomTom Nav having a port conflict, but scant info on how to resolve this.
any more ideas?
HERES 2.08 which works fine
Re Fax software
well thanx kind Hobbit I will try the ver 2.08 as soon as I finish gulping this scotch (with ice)

KSE TrueFax 2.08 problem
I have KSE_2.08WWE.CAB installed (FAX service enabled by operator). When I try to send a fax the first page goes OK, but when it comes to send the second one it stops with error message (Read timeout on serial port/Line droped).
Is anybody facing this kind of problem?

TomTom have just released the latest Mobile update, v5.20. This update adds support for WM5.0 handsets and in particular those with QVGA Screens such as the Orange c550 and the equivalent models on other networks.
Unusually you require a card reader in order to install the update, this cannot be installed via ActiveSync or Nokia PC Suite.
The download can be obtained here.

Chinese DOPOD C730 <>= /VOX/S710

Ok so I purchased the vox in mainland china. However there is a big
difference its called the C730 and has NO WIFI. So I thought ok
CID unlock it via imei-check, i did. I tried to flash it
with the dopod rom and it gives a model id error.
So not only have they managed to make a vox not a vox,
but they have made it a special version that i cant flash
the generic vox software on.
Enclosed are a couple of pictures.
Details.
Dopod C730
Windows Mobile Standard 6
CE OS 5.2.1236 (build 17741.0.2.1)
Radio Version 4.1.13.41_02.88.90
RIL Version 2.002
Operator: 5.2.1236.17741
Manufacturer: same
Microsoft: same
Language: same
File System: same
OMAP850 201Mhz
Available Memory: 29.07
Total Memory 49.35
There is no MSN/HOTMAIL installed but does come with some useful
localized chinese language utilities. like an sms suite
that allows you to block junk mail. A language dictionary,
and a few other local nifty trinkets. Nothing worth writing about.

IF ANYONE HAS FLASHED IT TO DOPOD ASIA WWE OR ANOTHER OTHER
DOPOD VERSION PLEASE POST HERE.
