So I have gone and bought an XDA of Ebay, its n O2 version, yet I am vodafone, so hopefully the unlock files work ok, found sone on this site, but still a little confused as to what name my o2 XDA 11i (ie. alpine etc..)
I know nothing about this phone, have owned Dell Axim 30 and Loox in the past, so know my way about a PPC, just not ever had a Phone version...
Hopefully this might replace my failing Mobile...
So I guess being new, means getting the drinks in...So am at the Virtual bar...what are you having ?

Just thought I'd introduce myself, name is Matt. Just got my ATT Fuze last week, upgraded and crossed over from Verizon LG Dare. It's my first WinMo phone and I'm really anxious to get started tweakin it. Been lurking here for a couple weeks now and have got to say it seems like a great community with lots of info to be absorbed. Any advice to a WinMo noob is appreciated. See ya in the threads.

Best advice is to read the two links below, then read them again. There are some really great people on here but you will get flamed for asking questions that have been answered in the WIKI.

Midgetgrimm that is. Hello XDA, finally after hearing enough times of "check the xda" or "it's def in the XDA" I figured I'd swing in and see what's up. I'm somewhat new to the nitty gritty stuff, but I can hold my own. I run a DarkSlide Rom on my Rooted Droid X with custom boots and it's super stable. My girl is getting a new smartphone tomorrow, I think I am more excited as it will be a new phone for me to learn and Root. Well I hope to have a growing post count, so I will see all of you soon.

Hey thanks. I just dl'ed the XDA app. I love tapatalk. She isn't sure and I don't wanna pressure lol. I think she'll go with and Android OS its just which one. Personally I wouldn't mind playing with the new windows phone. I used have an Omnia and I loved flashing and teching that phone. I really love Android, all the fun and its growing market and its openness to the people is just Wozniakish circa 1980's. Lol. Thanks again.

Haha thanks everyone! So my girl got the Continuum and yes she will let me play with it but only minimal surgery is allowed. Prob a root maybe a rom. Im really interested in learning to change the bootani's. Well hello bak to all. Im sure we will all meet again somewhere on these forums

How much did you know 6months or a year ago. We can't all be MZ or Fjfalcon (much respect), but we all contribute something, if only as much as a hand hold through something. Case in point LM and me today on Bravo.

Exactly, that was Rev MZ and HM for me too, I always feel like helping out if I can, it's like an obligation since the guys that were on here when i didn't know a thing helped me out pretty well and never flamed me when I was asking really n00b questions that time, so I feel I should give what I got.
**LM don't worry, IT IS funny, I agree, maybe that's why we (i think i can safely speak for the 2 of us LOL!) don't know what's happening on the dev threads half the time.. LMAO!

Well Rev accused me of being a troll once, I was new and on khal's V4 I seen 4g signal on my phone and I asked about it wondering how or what he did, I assumed he tweaked the radio and got us 4g! I didn't know **** about radio's then didn't know it was impossible all I know is I seen it lmao! Then after he accused me of trolling others came forward and were saying they seen it too so it was just a mystery after that. But I swear I was showing 4g signal! lmao

Got that once too IIRC, when the "official Cincinnati bell froyo" was released, I was posting all over so excited and all, then realized that I was hours late and didn't read first.. lmao! Looking back it was pretty funny..

I need to make an apology. Another dev had to do this earlier and now it is my turn.
He was right. We are all a bit angry at people who are posting unnecessary things, but that is no excuse to be rude. I still maintain that this forum has one of the best communities, and I will not let anyone tell me otherwise. I started on this forum in april of this year. That is 4 months ago. Look what I have accomplished. I am nowhere near the level of some of our other devs, but I am so much better than I was then. I WAS a N00B. I was that person with a million questions.
I remember the first time I soft bricked. It was late at night and all of a sudden that beautiful boot animation that I just realized cold be changed started repeating itself after I tried to flash an update to scv5. I panicked. I opened up the lifehacker article on unbricking, posted a new thread with a stupid question, and I started to realize I had no money to buy a new phone. Bottom line is it was the end of the world for me.
But, thanks to all the wonderful people here, i got it fixed. My heartbeat was probably 200 while the fxz flashed, but I got it done
I now bootloop every other day practically. restoring is no problem. ICS was a whole different story, but that is not for here. That is when I had my first hardbrick. but once again thanks to the help of others I am now on scv7 with some mods to it.

My mom always told me in school that there will always be bosses you hate just like your teachers, and coworkers you hate st like your classmates, so you might as well learn to get along with them. She was right. we just need to get along. For us devs there is an IRC channel, and believe me we talk about this stuff, but we all get along well. so for the rest of us t needs to be the same.
Let me start this by saying i am still a N00B, saying that Initially i was also annoyed with all those questions people were asking.. i myself started a new thread trying to clear few basic questions.. but as the time went by realised that the senior community was more harsh than anything else.. the more we teach the more we learn thats what say in my part of the world.. but i believe all is well, all that is needed is that you guys get into serious ICS development once the OTA arrives.. and <3 you guys..

I guess one just has to realise that there are ppl here with different tech capacities. So knowledgeable ppl like u and the other magnificent devs should have a little more patience with us , the eternal the omni present n00bs... u guys are doing a great job !! keep it up!!! We ask stupid questions coz we are scared that the beloved fone will brick...we want to be 10 times sure that flashing will not render it useless...but still we do it ..coz everybody loves a kick!!!! I guess.. my take on this....

Yeah, but on the other side of the coin, if you are on XDA that means you are looking to experiment, you want to try new things, you need a fast and functional ROM or that mod you like so much or simply want to root it and then there are few who are here just to learn.
But for all this you gotta have few attributes
1. Guts
2. Little knowledge
3. Able to go through few threads before starting anything
4. And last but most important, knowing where the search button is.
This still a n00b saying this, dont get me wrong. I am here to learn, i am getting into it slowly but surely. Thanks to the devs.

Well it is really not patients that is the problem that we are all having at the moment. It is the fact that everyone now seems to think they are the ONLY one with a certain problem with x, and rather than posting in the thread that deals with x they make a new thread, and then when you ask why they did not search it is always "I searched, and none of the threads deal with MY exact issue".
The issue with this is that is shows a lack of respect for everyone in here, that might be working on an issue, and that person just bumped another thread that might have that or a similar issue in it, and now everyone is reading that new glowing orange thread on the board.
The next issue is that people have to trust us.
Next, it seems we have a new rash of noobs that don't want to listen and then still post a new thread when their issues is not solved in another thread and then keep bumping that thread if no one replies.
Again these are all thing that show alot of issues and lack of respect to your dev team, we are here to help, but the more you guys all help us, the more we can help you.
P.S. I had to post this same thread a few weeks back, because of all the frustrations as well.... see a pattern here.

I just joined XDA not long ago and I too have noticed a lot of pointless threads. I admit I did post a stupid question before, but I found the answer myself and went back and changed my question. But I did not go and make a new thread about it. I think the issue is A. people are lazy in general, and B. There is so much to try and wrap your head around, and no one wants to brick their device. I only have 1 device and I would love to try experimenting with different ROMs and things, because I am constantly wanting a new phone. I have had the A2 for about 9 months now and I am bored with it. But I have that fear of bricking it and then I am screwed. So for now I will continue to search through different threads and try to learn as much as I possible can before I jump in and try flashing ROMs. I notice some people just try flashing ROMs without really any knowledge then post new threads with the issues that they have. If they would just take the time to read through threads prior to jumping in there would be less of this issue. I just want to Thank all the Devs here that put so much time into all the work they do here!! Definitely the best mobile dev community out there!!

dude i had the same ROM for 9 months before, without a single wipe, and i never got close to bored, the hw buttons messed up so i had to sell. your phone isnt your game console or gf ... its a phone, no offense
