What About an SD CARD GPS ?!? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Accessories

Hi guys,
any news on this side?
(I hope this is not a redundant topic... I've looked for in the topics' list, and seemed to me was missing)

I don´t know any sd-slot based gps-module.
Why you don´t use a serial connected gps?
If you want to use it in a car you need an gps near the windows or outside the car for a good satellite connection
regards
AleX

Hi Alex-Zero,
thank you for answering my question.
I'm actually looking for a more portable device, because I need to use it meanwhile I'm walking in the street.
That's why I'd prefer a "single" object, like a mobile phone with a slot in gps, and not a mobile phone wired to a periferal...

Did you finally obtain a Pharos’ Pocket GPS Navigator SDIO and did it work ok with the XDA II. I am thinking of getting one and it would be good to know someone who has bought one and is pleased with it. Steve

Hi,
I'm sorry I didn't buy it yet. I sent to them an email, asking for information, regarding specifically the XDA II, but they didn't reply !!!
I will keep in touch if something would arise on this matter... will you?

If I buy one I will let you know if it works ok. At the moment I am undecided between Bluetooth GPS and the SD GPS. SD GPS will leave me with no memory expansion and Bluetooth is possibly still a problem although I believe that Towas has a patch that makes it work ok. If anyone is using Tom Tom Navigator 2 Bluetooth aith the XDA II and got it working OK, I would love to hear from them. Does anyone know if using a Bluetooth GPS will still allow use of a Bluetooth Handsfree Car Kit like the Parrot CK3000, at the same time i.e. using 2 Bluietooth devices witn the XDA II simultaneously?
Best regards Steve

tom tom on xda1 and xda2

Hi
Never used this tom tom stuff myself. But a friend wants to use it, and he was asking whether it worked fine on the xda 1 (32mb ram) device? With the appropriate SD card, did the software perform acceptably??
Good to hear from those who upgraded to xda II. How much difference is there between running on xda1 and xdaII?
XDA1 & 2 Both work the same (though the screen is better on xda2).
I've had TomTom Navigator on my original XDA and now my XDA2 since it came out.
The Navigator 2 software is superb. I drive 30k a year and I could not be without it now.
thanks.
My friend already ordered the dell axim with tomtom bundle. The whole lot for 400, not bad!. He doesnt need a phone.
Just want to check. If he were to lend me his software.. ... what would i need to make the lot work in the car? I believe i need a GPS device, that would allow me to connect to the xda, and to provide power to both?
The software has to be activated by tomtom while your ppc is connected to your pc via the web. one install only.
Let me know if you find a way around it.
If you can all you need is a gps (ebay).

Xda II & GPS

I have just bought a Xda II. I wonder whether I can use it as a GPS and if yes how it would be possible, thanks.
Hi,
I to have just got the XDA II and have also got the TomTom GPS software and bluetooth receiver to go with it
here http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk/793 is one place where you might be able get it from but it seem to be in short supply at the moment
you can get a lot more info from this http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/index.php site
I can say that it is great

hw6515

I think it would be great for the experienced members of this board to start taking a look at the hw6515. It is after all made by HTC. There is so much crap on mine, and I wuld love to take mst of i off. So anyone who knows what they're doing...help! P.S. I think Imay have extracted the rom but when I try to open it with the rom editor the passwords won't work, and I have tried several others. p.s.s i also unlocked ipaq file store and ipaq rom using the Harrier_EXTrom.Unlock.exe found on this site, however there is next to nothing in it.
Okay I just used DumpROM and extracted all the files in my ROM, I am completely new to this so what would be the next step?
I have upgraded to HW6515 from mini too, was able to install CallerID for HW6515.
Hope this website will support HW6515 too.
Yes me too i have now got a HW6515
And is very very good
I do hope that support will be on this website
Can any of you guys post the BT Cab file here so that we can try it out on the XDA's ? Apparently, the HP6515 BT stack supports BT voice dial and is very stable with clear audio without any static.
Would be highly appreciated.
if you tell me how to getit of the device i will do it for you
as for the voice dial its very good ihave just had in a few southwing headsets and they work very well £11.99 in P & P from ebay

just got to get all those software houses revamping for 240x240 now !!
6515 is very cool !!!!!
hi all..
First time poster long time lurker. I just got a 6515 a week or two ago, and I am wondering if it is built off the bases of the other devices. Mostly I want to see if there is a way to get the current WM2005 rom to boot ok it, does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Editing extracted ROM?
Hi all.

I'm thinking of getting thr 6515 but it is still very expensive at the moment. Has anyone managed to get BB Connect for it yet? Until this is available I won't buy. Plus later this year it is supposed to have WiFi and WM2005 added.

HTC or Samsung with Assisted GPS (A-GPS) will meet your requirements. A-GPS allows you to get a "fix" when you are indoor and connected to the Internet, or while performing a synchronisation with a computer connected to the Internet.
There is nothing much we can do about the GPS receiver (radio) because it is part of the phone's main board. The user's preference and settings is pretty much limited to the GPS software and maps.
For me, I am still using my 2009 HTC Touch HD on Windows Mobile 6.5, using Garmin XT software. In my location, there is a forum that has free open-source map resources.
Hope this helps

Thanks. However I want to use the GPS without internet so without A-GPS. Even if the radio is integrated in the main board there can be some differences between the brands. What I would like to know is from that univers, which are the best smartphones with best GPS performance without A-GPS.

I already read a lot of reviews. About GPS performance almost nothing is written. The site where I found more detail it's gsmarena.com.
Neverthless when it's said that the performance of Galaxy S is the same of Galaxy S3 ou S4 or other brands I cannot take my conclusions. The only comparison that I made it was with an iphone 4S and during the test my galaxy lost some times the signal and iphone no. Always connected! But I prefer Android so I will stay with Android.
If you know other internet sites where I can see more details please advise me.
Thanks.
