Title explains most of it but the long explanation is I'm trying to get an older version of youtube vanced to work again by decompiling the vanced 14.10.53 apk and trying to find a sort of info.plist equivalent for android to spoof youtube's servers into thinking this version of youtube is newer than it is so it can receive the yummy youtube juice and get around this dumb arbitrary restriction but I can't for the life of me get it to recognize as youtube 17.49.34 "the version of yt im spoofing it as" If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be wonderful. Youtube is a real necessity for me and every android 4 variant forcing me to use the browser sucks, especially since I can still get yt to work on my 2010 iphone 4 but not my dam 2013 galaxy express running a 2014 version of android? That's stupid

It is still slow and can only be used by G1 and Droid users(i.e. Devices have keyboards)
We need helps from code gurus that are familiar with SDL or dosbox.
ps: I cannot post links in this post since I just registered(or you may search for "adosbox" in youtube and google code). I will edit this thread once I get the permission.

that's pretty cool. might get it just for the heck of it
btw to post links you have to have a certain number of posts, not an amount of time since you've registered. Post away!

You need atleast 10+ I believe to post links, they started this to prevent spamming or something like that.
thanks for the tip
this definitely isn't spam
its pretty cool.
aDOSBox - http://androiddosbox.appspot.com/
That links to the Google Code page http://code.google.com/p/adosbox/ and the Google Groups page http://groups.google.com/group/adosbox
It currently runs very slow on G1 (even basic early-80s games lag) and requires hardware keyboard. The dev says he'd love some help improving the speed and integrating software keyboard.
You guys know if anyone is working on getting the softkey to work?
The group named adosbox has been removed because it violated Google's Terms Of Service.
uhhh what part of the TOS could have been broken
With the nature of the project, I imagine people were posting links to "abandonware" games that were either protected by the ESA or still being sold.
Amazing the kind of weird things that people do for fun.
is this a emulator. not to ask a noob question but what does this do i never heard of it and theres not enough info in this thread ?

Yes, DOSBox is a DOS emulator. It creates an environment in which you can launch old DOS games and programs and have them work relatively well.
It's quite slow on Android phones (on the old G1 anyway) but works excellently on PC.
One of the reasons why it is extremely slow on dream is that it has to emulate an x86 CPU. The phone has an ARM CPU. The desktop computer that it runs well on has an x86 CPU -- so it maps direct and works fast.
still dont support virtual keyboard someone find out how to use it without hw keyboard?
Hey I was wondering where the best place to start learning android development would be? I specifically to make social (Facebook and Twitter apps) I have worked as a web developer and I have spent time with python and C (i have looked at java too) so I need to know the best TEXT guides on the web as I can't watch videos.

Android Developerment
The best place to start any android development is on the developer.android.com website. There is really a lot of information for anyone that is interested in this topic.
Keep in mind that there are a lot of android phones that are not running ICS so you might want to look at supporting the previous versions as well. Keep in mind that only 14 % of android users are running 4.0.3 and up while 58 % are running 2.3.3 and higher. If you include 2.2 you add another 17 % of the android phones.
I recommend to use the Eclipse development environment with the Google SDK, but all of this is well documented on the above website.
Have fun developing for this great platform.
Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum and this is my first post
I have a Huawei Ascend Y320 (Android 4.2 Jellybean, dual-core processor etc), and I have heard that it is possible to run iOS on an Android device.
I have seen a similar thread discussing this topic... but the 'how-to' link in the thread does not load the desired page
I have also found this through a Google search 'iosonandroid' However the page forces one to make purchases for products and services that I don't want and don't furthermore trust.
So, that brings me back to my question, can one run iOS on Android...?
Please don't knock me for this, as though I quite like Android OS, I need to access iOS apps, such as 'iMovie', and other similar video editing/movie making software.
Android has many apps for such purposes, however, most are merely clones of Androids' stock Movie Maker, which has limited abilities, and can be quite buggy. I have managed to find a couple of great video editing/movie making apps on Google Play, but I would still be keen to be able install iOS apps to broaden my capabilities.
Any constructive help would be much appreciated
Cheers,
Harry
I'm going to answer your question quickly before someone thinks it'll be funny to troll you.
Sadly I will have to say, you cannot run iOS on Android, some developers have found a way to run iOS apps on Android but they haven't released much info on that.
The sites that say, you can run it. They're all bullcrap and just want you to register and fill out surveys. If there was iOS for Android, I'm sure it'd be on YouTube, and here on xda.
So again, you can't run iOS on Android.

Thanks for that Glad I got a 'straight to the point' answer from you, I really appreciate that.
I have seen evidence of heavy trolling on other threads... which makes it extremely difficult for people like myself trying to work out a solution to a query or problem.
And yes, I did wonder about the survey/register blah blah spam on the 'iOS on Android' website. I am glad I did not go through with the process, as it seems especially dodgy considering there is no way of contacting the dev....
Exactly, and the thing is, there is no specification for the device. It just has pictures of samsung and htc phones with the iOS screenshot and then the requirements on the page is based on Android OS versions... And it supports eclair. Lol.
Maybe sometime in future some smart developer will figure out how to run iOS on Android.

You Cannot frun IOS on any android device!! the most you can do is use a launcher or try few apps that (i guess) emulate ios apps
First thank you for taking the time to look at this thread. Now, as the title states, is there ANY way to torrent on Android 6.0? I don't use torrents for piracy. If you look at my user name, I went from one end of the country to the other, and through trial and error, we found torrents the best way to share large picture albums. We don't use Facebook, or any social media as we like our pictures to belong to us. Anyway, I'm getting off track. Android 4.4 and below, torrents were easy. There were multiple options to choose from. Come Android 5.1, the only client I found to work was Flud. Now my phone is running Android 6.0 (cm13) and I cannot find one client that will work. My brother just had a new baby, and I REALLY need to be able to download his pictures. Can ANYONE help me? Has anyone found a way to torrent on 6.0?
Samsung - 65" Class - 7 Series - 4K UHD TV - Smart - LED - with HDR Model # UN65TU7000FXZA
Just curious if there is anyone who knows if there's anything that can be done to this smart tv such as root, jailbreak, etc.???
I apologize if this is in the wrong thread or if it's not okay to ask about TVs on XDA!!! I love XDA & respect the rules so I did look...I just didn't see anything banning this type of question!
Thanks!

Lol XDA is a place meant to share root methods. And TVs are welcome!
Quick reminder:
Jailbreak=iPhone=Finding Exploit to elevate privilege and modify device=Apple do not condone
Root=Android=Using provided tool to fully control your device=Google 100% condone (and even adapt their google play security certifications for ROM users)
Your smart TV is unfortunately on Tizen, this is another OS than Android, that is used for samsung smartwatch and is only used by samsung (since they're the creator).
Read this:
Spoiler: Quick History
Back in the days Samsung launched a smartphone to concurrence Android, the phone was the Samsung Wave, and it was running Bada OS (and I had one).
Big flop, it had no apps on the appstore. The phone, even though it was good, was just isolated on its little island, forever. The last wave was the Wave 3, nothing after...
Bada OS didn't disappeared, this os took another name: Tizen. It is now used your other samsung things, they had time to develop it better, but I don't think it'll resurface in the smartphone market ever again...
Now that you know the story, you'll know better how to search. Here's the link of the XDA section for Tizen.
Have a good day

So does that mean there are no hacks or roots for Samsung TVs in general?

I personally admit that i know little about the subject..but i read that most smart tvs (dont know if Samsung is one of them) detect your location and pick the app store market based on the first time you connect to the internet after software reset... your ipaddress is ofcourse can reveal your country so if you want another store market than your country, lets say u want US app store you have to let it connect to an access point such as a router that has built in vpn and get it ready and enabled to US ipaddress , when you reset the tv and it connects to that access point it will think its in the US.. there is probably also software on computers that can make a vpn activated hotspot ...
I honestly don’t know if this method is still valid or not... I would like someone to confirm...

Have a look at SamyGo forum. They rooted and modded many Samsung TV firmwares beginning with the A series... Now they are testing root for the N/QN and they are investgating vulnerabilities on the R/QR. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

And what is the use of rooting or modifying the firmware?
Would it also be possible to root or modify the firmware of my Samsung TV (QN55Q60AAKXZL)? And if possible, could you explain the process to me please?
Thanks.
