Hello, on my Oneplus 6 I have two partitions, this makes it difficult for me to install TWRP. How can I delete second partition?
You should read some threads...
afaik you're just gonna have to make flashing twrp after rom one of your steps, it's just how it works.. it's not really more of an issue than you make it. you can't really do much about it, so you if you wanna flash stuff on an a/b device you might as well read up enough to understand how to make a custom recovery stick(flashing twrp after rom is included for EVERY rom i've seen for this phone), and it's not like it's a secret it's how it's working.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/guide-noobs-guide-to-b-partitions-op6-t3816123
Trying to get a clean backup before I go mucking about trying different ROMs, and I can't get it to work like I am used to. Just came from Nexus 5 for my wife and Onplus One for myself, backup was very simple. I am sure it's because I don't quite understand how A/B partition affects the backup, but I am not succeeding on solving this myself.
I am full stock updated to 9.0.3, unlocked no problem got BluSpark 9.93 TWRP and Magisk 18. If I make a backup, using default partitions or all partitions doest matter, when I restore it gets stuck on boot animation, and no matter what I do from there it ends up hard bricked. I have gotten quite fast at MSM Tool fix, and no major data loss because I have manual backup on computer, however I dont want to MSMTool every time I try a new ROM.
The ONLY restore I have succeeded at is to do a complete MSMTool fix, update back to 9.0.3, get TWRP and Magisk back in place, then restore JUST the data partition. that brings back my settings, apps, logins etc, but it is a huge hassle to do. I want to get to the point where I can say "meh I dont like LineageOS, lets just restore my clean Stock backup" and be done in five minutes.

Just backup data partition and flash your OOS zip when you want to return to OOS in TWRP. After you flash it, restore data and you'll be golden.

I tried that before but it either got me stuck in a boot animation or completely corrupted the phone with random gibberish named folders and having to MSMtool to recover. If I was on Havoc ROM, my understanding is that you cannot just flash the stock OOS zip over the top to return to stock.
Even if it did work that still takes out TWRP and Magisk, which is what i'm trying to avoid. I know it works different than it used to on the old partition setup, but is it possible to just swap back and forth between different ROMs using recovery backups? I would like to give Havoc and Liquid a week of use each but I dont want to nuke and restart my whole thing every time I switch. its fun to try other things but at the end of the day I still want to have a phone that doesnt need to be set up yet another time.

I only backup data, but I'm also decrypt, which helps. There really isn't a simple flip flop like you used to do. I backup data, then install OOS zip, flash TWRP, reboot recovery, flash noverity (for decrypt), magisk then kernel and reboot and all is the same as it was before.

thats a shame, it was really nice to be able to quickly change roms on my phone.
Regarding decrypt, I noticed one of my backup attempts was hampered when I had pin/fingerprint enabled before backup and since then I just make sure to remove all locking before backup. is this noverity thing used to strip the password from a backup or?
EDIT: so just to make sure I am understanding, when I do a backup in TWRP I can only really make use of the Data partition backup. and if i want to flash a ROM i basically have to do it as if it was a fresh install, get TWRP/Magisk back in, THEN restore my partition, every time I change ROM?

The best way to flip between ROMs is to take a data backup specifically for each ROM, but install the ROM as per instructions every time.
The noverity just maintains decrypt after you decrypt your data partition.
Restore your data any time while in recovery, and it'll be fine as long as it's data for that specific ROM. The order in which you do everything does not matter when restoring data and flashing the ROM.
EDIT: the order doesn't matter in regards to your data restore. Everything else matters in those steps, in their specific order, but you can restore data at any time as long as the other steps are in order.

Alright that makes sense, thanks for the help. again, shame it's not as easy as it used to be, maybe this will finally get me to settle on a single ROM and just be happy with the phone I paid so much for lol.

The a/b partition is a failsafe that also makes updates easier overall. OOS is a solid ROM. I would recommend xXxNoLimits. That's what I use along with Smurfkernel. It's all preference.
Hello,
I am running PixysOS rom on my Honor 6X (BLN-AL20) since some months and I am actually satisfied of the stability and usability of the Rom.
Actually I can't convince the device to use the installed as card to store pictures, videos etc.
The SD card is recognised and listed under memory but the system is not using it.
Is there any workaround to fix this problem?
Thanks,
Andrea.

for me my internal storage is not detected. only sd card is main storage. seems like its a bug and never gonna fixed. there is no perfect android 9 os out there. so better go to emui 8 and use cyclox kernel.

By what I read in the thread of DotOS, that's a bug that should had be fixed in latest builds... Are you using latest version or not?
Anyway every Pie ROM/GSI I tried seems to read microSD, eject it and re-read once again immediately after booting to OS, on every single boot. Then, there are systems that keep reading the microSD (as AEX, Descendant...) and allows modifications, reading files, basically everything you should be able to do with a microSD, and systems that just keep it ejected (like DotOS did on old builds). Saw other users reporting that on the thread. Look for "microSD" in DotOS thread to read latest comments about, there you could find a solution. By how things sound at the moment, my only advice is to move on another system.
Thanks for your reply. Could you suggest me a proper and stable rom?

Nothing hard to do man. We use to thank others with the appropriate button, for next times.
Anyway since that we're not talking 'bout different devices but we share the same phone, i feel to strongly recommend ya the Descendant GSI project by Dil3mm4.. It's a fork of Phh AOSP project but with sone very good extras. I never used a system smooth like this one, really impressive. It has a decent amount of customizations options (not at levels like RROS in example, but too much is too much IMHO), great battery management, fluid transitions and great compatibility with Huawei devices (it's a GSI, but the dev has a P8 Lite at the moment, so he knows how to make things working on Huawei).
Give it a shot, you can always go back to stock with HuRUpdater in just 5 minutes. And in case you'd like to try more, remember to take a look into Treble section here on XDA. Every arm64 a-only GSI is good to be flashed on our device, but before flashing just look if other users owning a Huawei device have already tried it or not. I say this simply because many GSIs are actually not working thanks to our vendor compatibility, so make things without hurry and nothing can go wrong
Used appropriate "thanks button" this time...eheh
Any tutorial on how to install the Descendant GSI rom starting from PixysOs with Askuccio's TWRP?

Well there isn't a dedicated tutorial for every ROM/GSI you're starting from, overall because a clean flash is strongly recommended (especially when you switch from a ROM to a GSI) - you can dirty flash Descendant updates or other GSIs based on phhusson trees without problems, but in this case you've already modified your device kernel and other stuff with a custom ROM, so it's better to start from scratch in way to avoid useless wastes of time running to repairs with hurry.
The faster and safest way to do this is:
1) restore stock OS with HuRUpdater and let it boot (i saw that you already own Askuccio's TWRP, i always had to use Elemental TWRP from KingOfMezi in way to use HuRU without errors, but apart this Askuccio's TWRP works for flashing everything you'd need);
2) following steps listed in Descendant OP, flash the system image through fastboot or through TWRP, then reboot to TWRP once again and wipe ONLY /cache and /dalvikART partitions;
3) factory reset through stock recovery and let the system boot (yeah, you'll have to reflash stock recovery once again before reflashing TWRP - again.
4) flash all the rest you'd like to flash (GApps, Magisk, ecc.)
By default, /data partition remains encrypted after performing factory reset with stock recovery, and so with TWRP you won't be able to perform full backups, but you can also choose to run with /data decrypted. The method isn't supported by the developer, but works like a charm (personally tested about 3 versions of the GSI ago, worked). You just have to flash "disable dm verity" script during the process, but you can know more by reading about it here.
Happy flashing

Point 1: I have to download stock fw using Huawei firmware finder and I have to use Askuccio's TWRP to flash HuRupdater on the device. Do I have to choose a custom recovery or I have to let HuRupdater flash stock recovery too?
Point 2: you are saying I have to wipe cache/dalviw partitions using TWRP so I have to flash TWRP after flashing and booting stock fw?

To me flashing HuRU with Askuccio TWRP never worked, as said above, so i'd suggest you to look for ElementalTWRP in way to have a custom recovery that can flash HuRU with no problems. Secondarily, in way to avoid confusion, just start from stock and do a fastboot flash of Descendant, reboot to OS and let it boot. Once set, flash TWRP and flash GApps, then wipe just /cache and /dalvik and reboot one last time. Then you can do anything you want.

Ok, I'll put elemental TWRP recovery in the same directory in order to let HuRU flash it together with the stock firmware.
Edit: can't find elemental twrp download link

Good, i usually do that later just in case the system prompts to factory reset before booting, but it's up to you. Here's the link anyway https://mega.nz/#!a81EDZAR!2-9yPFh3reghkGcfSl3nRIJhHGkP8fqDsgUG66ewjkk
Using fw finder I downloaded the fw named: BLN-AL30C00B541 (8.0.0.541) FULLOTA-MF 2018.12.27
Clicking on download give me some choices:
- update.zip (1.74 GB)
- BLN-Al20_all_cn/update_full_BLN-AL20_all_cn.zip (643 MB)
Already downloaded both of them and can't find any of the files required from HurUpdater to run. Do I have to use an extractor?
EditOne: used Huawei Update Extractor gives an error on the update.app extracted from the update.zip archive and works on the same file extracted from BLN-Al20_all_cn/update_full_BLN-AL20_all_cn.zip
Edit2: just realized I don't need to extract anything but still can't find update_data_public and update_all_hw files
That is because it's Chinese build and as you just noticed some update packages are assembled in a slightly different manner, so some package misses one if not two useful zips. Would you mind to switch to India variant? Nothing changes in performance nor in features, plus if you'd only use the firmware as a base to get to other ROMs/GSIs, it really doesn't matter (but i can offer better assistance since that i'm more experienced with India variant other than China). FYI in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/how-to/french-language-t3938592/ i've already guided an user to obtain India variant, but it's really simple:
in TEAM MT site (google for "team mt online firmware database", the first result you get is what you need), look for build "BLN-L22HNC675CUSTC675D1B510" - you'll obtain 4 results. Download the package dated 2018.07.19, it is the better one. From here you just have to follow instructions in HwOTA thread, renaming the three packages as suggested in OP and choosing to debrand during the process to BLN-L22 region/variant (don't remember if it happens anyway since that the firmware is India variant but it's a thing that doesn't give hassles).
Hi - I did a TWRP System/Data/Boot backup of my OP7P about a month ago, and decided this weekend that I needed to go back to that image.
When I did a TWRP restore, everything looked fine, but after rebooting ... I was stuck in Fastboot Mode (just like in this thread). Fortunately, I was able to get my OP7P again, but I was panicking for a while!
Since that TWRP backup / restore didn't work, I wanted to find out what I did wrong.
How do I properly do a TWRP backup / restore on the OP7P without bricking my phone?
Thanks!
Take note of the statement on the TWRP thread: "For the Backups use always "system_image" and "vendor_image" instead of "system" and "vendor"."
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...nt/recovery-unofficial-twrp-recovery-t3931322
I also believe there is some trick to the Slot A/B thing. Like you need to flash to both slots? Never had to restore a TWRP backup on this device yet. So I'm just passing on what I can remember reading.
Could someone please give a little detailed reply / help.
I tried to update from 10.3.1 to 10.3.2.
After update I lost wifi.
Fortunately I made a twrp backup
Unfortunately the restore failed (stuck at restore boot).
First I have to revitalize with guac recov tool.
Later I want to restore backup - how?
Yup, fastboot loop after twrp restore as well.
Ist there really no option to restore?

It happened to me too recently. Actually I'm on Beta5 on my 7Tpro McLaren and want to try a rollback to stable release due to some problems (black crush and bad dark levels), just to know if they are software related because I have no memory about how it was when on Stable ROM.
Now I'm unlocked, rooted (Magisk) thanks to All in ONE Tool. Recovery is stock because I'm not confident on flashing TWRP. Differently from my old OP5T there are two partitions and I don't know how to handle them.
Furthermore, when I boot TWRP it doesn't find all partition. For example it says data partition is 0MB.
Any suggestion?
Thanks guys!

I am able to backup and restore on my OP7T HD1910 with TWRP now. If anyone needs some advice/help feel free to message me and I'll try and help you out. It took me a lot of testing to figure out and it's not easiest thing to do or the quickest but it is possible!
Hi
I installed ArrowOS and when I try to go back to TWRP, there isnĀ“t any password even tho I have one on my device.
The thing is that when I enter it shows that there isn't any storage in the phone (0mb - imposible) so I can't wipe all data nor install other ROMS because it isn't reading the internal storage.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? It doesn't matter if I have to factory reset or delete all data, or install another ROM, but knowing that it is not a cable problem, I would like to know if I should use other TWRP version (and how to do it) because I can't even seem to do that.
The tutorial I installed the ROM was this, but instead of ArrowOS11, the 12 in my POCO X3 PRO:
Most likely using incorrect / old TWRP. Use https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomipocox3pro.html
Edit: Android 12 ROM's cannot be decrypted yet.
So should I just wait? Thanks for the fast reply!
No recovery can decrypt android 12 data yet.
You can still format the said data though and if twrp doesn't allow you to do so, try using orangefox instead.
You also can install or update rom and other stuffs (that doesn't access data) via sideload.
If you want to install magisk then you need to do the boot.img and related thingy.
Is there a recovery to decrypt android 12 data yet? I've been trying decrypting since 2 months ago and didn't find any answer.
Did you try Orangefox?

Wouldn't make a difference, it's a limitation faced by all custom recoveries and OrangeFox is based on TWRP.
@Toflamo You can try flashing a ROM from the SD Card or ADB sideload, but the SD card flash would less of a hassle. None of the recoveries as of now support decryption, might take a while to overcome that limitation.
Ngl I don't know how to ADB sideload and don't have any SDs rn to flashing it, so it seems I would have to wait until some recoveries can do it. From now on I'm staying with ArrowOS12 on my PocoX3Pro, even tho battery performance isn't as good as I expected.
Thanks so much everyone, you've been very helpful!
I will come back in some months to check if there is any tool to overcome the decryption problem of Android 12.
